Florida Territory's Elections

I'm not sure if you can help, but I'm looking for the Florida Territory's at-large congressional district's election dates so I can complete the page... Any ideas?...pvmoutside

1914 Senate elections

Could you explain this edit? What was the source supposed to be? (please   mention me on reply)MJLTalk 18:51, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

  • @MJL: Whoops! I must have left it out. Thanks for catching my error… I've fixed it now. —GoldRingChip 19:48, 9 January 2021 (UTC)

Arizona election categories

Helo, GoldRingChip,

The daily issued Empty category report came out and has several categories about Arizona elections that are suddenly empty. Typically, categories empty either when they are renamed or when they have a solitary article that is deleted. It's less common to have a group of categories on the same subject to simultaneously become empty unless an editor has decided to recategorized articles that would normally be in these categories which is considered "emptying out of process" at WP:CFD. But it's hard to track down what has happened unless one knows what articles are supposed to be in these categories and one can backtrack to see what has been removed or changed.

Since you have created some of these categories I thought you could look at the report and see if something is amiss with these Arizona election categories. Thanks much. Liz Read! Talk! 01:45, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

  • @Liz: My fault, I'll fix it. Thanks! —GoldRingChip 02:14, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

US Congress

You pretty much get your way with most of the changes you make on these articles. Do you really have to have it all your way? Back off a bit, for once. GoodDay (talk) 15:38, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

  • @GoodDay: It's not about me. Make a good argument, and I'll gladly agree. —GoldRingChip 15:50, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
I began a discussion at the 117th US Congress page. GoodDay (talk) 15:53, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Congress Seniority slightly out of order?

So I have a question for you regarding the Seniority in the United States House of Representatives article...pretty small issue, but do you know why Reps Kai Kahele and Young Kim are BEFORE Mondaire Jones and not AFTER?....Pvmoutside (talk) 17:39, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

  • @Pvmoutside: Because the editors of many congressional articles want to rush with the latest updates as if they're CNN, thereby using their own WP:OR instead of reliable sources, such as this. —GoldRingChip 19:24, 8 February 2021 (UTC)

U.S. Congress editnotices

Hey, I noticed that you've created a lot of editnotices for U.S. Congress-related topics, such as Template:Editnotices/Group/U.S. Congress and subpages. I've been working on standardizing editnotices across Wikipedia - and I've noticed that a lot of these editnotices link to essays at Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. Congress.

Would you have any objection to me updating the content of these editnotices, as well as moving them to a non-subpage of Template:Editnotices/Group (for example, Template:Editnotices/Group/U.S. Congress/districts might go to Template:U.S. Congress district editnotice)? Don't want to step on anyone's toes here, but I'd like to be able to standardize and better-document this area overall. Thanks! (sorry if my comment is confusing, feel free to ask for clarification!) Happy First Edit Day!

Template redirects

I noticed you expanded a few occurrences of {{tl}} to {{Template link}} (e.g.) Of course {{tl}} is easier to type and read, and is used a lot. Was there a discussion and consensus about canonicalizing template names? Restricted to template docs, maybe? I'm not plugged into all those gnomic discussions. In general I try to hew to WP:NOTBROKEN and WP:DWAP (although sometimes AWB disagrees), but I' really thinking of mainspace redirects, not templates. David Brooks (talk) 23:17, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick response. No need to revert your changes though, I think: after all, still not broken! David Brooks (talk) 23:30, 12 May 2021 (UTC)

OH-9

A small issue has been recurring at OH-9. I believe we have a problem with User:AlsoWukai. He/she keeps reverting the word re-election to reelection. I followed pas formats when I started adding to other districts. When I told him/her that I was following past formats, he/she told me they were all incorrect and should be changed to the word without the dash, but only keeps on meddling with OH-9 (so far)....what should we do?....11:27, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

  • It's a style issue that should be handled across Wikipedia, not just U.S. congressional districts. —GoldRingChip 12:56, 21 June 2021 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

I am attempting to distract you from contributing to Wikipedia by sending you this very very cutie little baby kitten. Keep up the good work.

Duplicate parm

Hi GRC. Your recent edit on Template:Country data Spain resulted in a duplicate "var2" parm error. Davemck (talk) 15:53, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

  • Ah! That explains the problem. Thanks for letting me know… I've fixed it. —GoldRingChip 17:47, 6 August 2021 (UTC)

Wars of the Roses Family Tree

Love the work you've done on sprucing up the family tree on the Wars of the Roses page, looks so much neater now! I was wondering, could you add Elizabeth Woodville as the wife of Edward IV? She was an integral part of the rise of the Tudor dynasty, and I feel she should be included. I would do it but I have no idea where to even start on editing trees on wiki! (PaulThomas92 (talk) 14:58, 12 August 2021 (UTC))

  • Your reasoning is good, but it's tricky to add folks to this ever-growing web of intrigue. Let's see if I can make it work… —GoldRingChip 17:36, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

Sentence case for sub-headings

Please write section headings in sentence case not title case, as detailed at Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Section headings. Thanks. Celia Homeford (talk) 07:15, 19 October 2021 (UTC)

Hyphen and dash

Hi, as someone else might have told you already, the hyphen is correct in "Korea-related", e.g. Index of Korea-related articles (0–9). – Fayenatic London 12:50, 15 November 2021 (UTC)

Problem with election boxes for Vermont Progressive Party

Hello, I noticed that for some reason the shortname for the Vermont Progressive Party isn't being used whenever the template is being called upon. I tried changing the name of the template to see if that would solve the problem, but it didn't. You can see an example of this on 2021 Burlington mayoral election. I asked some other editors on Discord about this and they couldn't figure out the problem. Do you have any idea? Template:Progressive Party (Vermont)/meta/shortname and Template:Progressive Party (Vermont)/meta/color Jon698 (talk) 14:59, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

  • OK, I'm glad it was resolved. —GoldRingChip 16:42, 27 November 2021 (UTC)

Introduction of citation templates in article that does not use them

In your edits to Mary I of England you introduced {{Citation}} templates in an article that does not use citation templates. Please see WP:CITEVAR. Jc3s5h (talk) 01:46, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

  • Thank you for noticing the error. I've now made more edits without adding {{Citation}} templates. I suggest not reverting all the edits if only one of them is a problem. Perhaps I can fix them, if you like? —GoldRingChip 01:52, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
In the article, there are a large number of citations. Only two of them, in the body of the article, use any form of citation template, and two more in the "Further reading" section. I think it's reasonable to think the style of the article is to not use citation templates at all, and the few examples were added by people who never heard of WP:CITEVAR. Jc3s5h (talk) 02:05, 28 November 2021 (UTC)
That's fine with me. —GoldRingChip 02:42, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
