x-files images
editHi there
Your deletions of my movie screenshots for the X-files are quite disappointing. I don't know what is wrong with 4-D. Anyway, I guess you like the TXF series just as I do. Maybe you will add images for still screenshotless episodes? I guess all the episodes should be covered with none left behind.

editThe translation section linked from the lead already covers the word-for-word translation. Neither is actually more literal, since "Romanus" literally means "of Rome". Also, "que" has the effect that the adjective applies to both nouns. "The Senate and the People of Rome" has been widely used for many years. Ian Dalziel (talk) 13:07, 11 February 2014 (UTC)

Quick favour
editHey, man, do you still have the Shearman and Pearson review book? I've totally lost mine and have been relying on Amazon's preview feature for a while, but some of the contents are inaccessible—including the material for The Fourth Horseman, which I'm trying to write the article for. If you still have a copy, could you give me the gist of what they said about it? It's on page 162. If you don't have it to hand don't worry, I'll probably end up picking up the kindle version in the future so it's always to hand anyway. GRAPPLE X 05:14, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
Adventure Time and Regular Show
editWell, there maybe some same writers but, to be considered a related show, they would probably have to give some hint, that they exist in the same universe, or at least reference each other. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RabidBadger1632 (talk • contribs) 03:03, 20 February 2014 (UTC)
- It has less to do with them being in the same universe, and more with them being highly interconnected, productivity-wise. Benton Connor and J. G. Quintel both boarded for AT and Regular Show, many of the crew members from both (Pen Ward, Cole Sanchez, Quintel, Kent Osborne, Somvilay Xayaphone) worked on Flapjack. While not in the same universe, they're very much related to one another.

Finale
editGood job getting all that information for the finale. I've already gone through it a bit. Just some side notes: punctuation would only go inside a quotation if it's a full statement and not a partial statement. I changed "Finale" to "the finale", because it's really not an actual title, like "Prophecy", but an association of the final episode. I need to go through the whole thing, but it looks good. We'll need to put in for a copyedit at some point. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 14:14, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good articles Future GAN Backlog Drive
editHello everyone! Hope you've all been having a great summer!
TheQ Editor recently proposed the idea of having another Backlog Drive in either September/October or November/December of this year. For those of you who have participated in the past two drives you know I was the one who organized them, however, come September, this will be my most important year in school so I will not be able to coordinate this drive (if it happens). TheQ Editor has volunteered to be a coordinator for the drive. If any of you would like to co-coordinator, please notify TheQ Editor on his talk page.
If you would be interested in participating in a Backlog Drive sometime before the end of this year, please notify TheQ Editor. Also, make sure to specify what month(s) work best for you.
At the time this message was sent out, the backlog was at 520 nominations. Since May, the backlog has been steadily increasing and we are currently near an all time high. Even though the backlog will not disappear over one drive, this drive can lead to several others which will (hopefully) lead to the day where there is no longer a backlog.
As always, the more participants, the better, and everyone is encouraged to participate!

Marceline the Vampire Queen
editThe only reason I included her under that category was that Princess Bubblegum was (and still is) under the same category. --BenStein69 (talk) 19:48, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- Understandable. I'm sorry if I appeared rash, but since we're on weird ground with the claim (it hasn't appeared in the show, nor has Pen Ward himself said it), I don't feel it is entirely accurate to label both of them as LGBT characters /yet/. Maybe one day, when more concrete evidence comes about that isn't so hearsay-y.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 20:27, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- In the sources given, though, Olivia Olsen states that Pen Ward told her about the relationship. That makes the "outing" not unsimilar to the one of Dumbledore by J.K. Rowling. How much more concrete does it need to get? Mythic Writerlord (talk) 21:27, 25 August 2014 (UTC)
- The thing is that Pen Ward didn't say, he's merely reported to have said. Considering that for some people this could be quite a controversial fact, I think we should err on the side of caution and try to get a source directly from the horse's mouth, so to speak.. Also, the fact that it hasn't happened in the show means just that: it hasn't happened. There's a difference between something being planned, and something being "canon" (people love to jump on that word, even thought they don't know what it means). I just think there needs to be more of a finite answer to this than the kind of grey area we are in right now. My two cents. I just want some consensus.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 03:07, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- The impression I am getting is that there having been "something" is indeed canon, whereas there currently been something is not. It would be safest to go with "unknown relationship", probably. As far as the category goes, it does not have to be added per se. Just mentioning the interview's existence would more then suffice for now until a better source is found. Mythic Writerlord (talk) 05:34, 26 August 2014 (UTC)
- Oh yes, the interview is mentioned, under the "controversy" section.--Gen. Quon (Talk) 14:58, 26 August 2014 (UTC)

GA Cup
editHello everyone! We hope you have all been having a great summer!
As we all know, the recent GAN Backlog Drives have not had any big impact on the backlog. Because of that, me (Dom497), Figureskatingfan, and TheQ Editor have worked on an idea that could possibly finally put a dent into the massive backlog. Now, I will admit, the idea isn't entirely ours as we have took the general idea of the WikiCup and brought it over to WikiProject Good Articles. But anyways, here's what we have in mind:
For all of you that do not know what the WikiCup is, it is an annual competition between several editors to see who can get the most Good Articles, Featured Article's, Did You Know's, etc. Based of this, we propose to you the GA Cup. This competition will only focus on reviewing Good articles.
For more info on the proposal, click here. As a FYI, the proposal page is not what the final product will look like (if you do go ahead with this idea). It will look very similar to WikiCup's page(s).
The discussion for the proposal will take place here. Please let us know if you are interested, have any concerns, things to consider, etc.

"formatting nicely"
editHow do I do that? I'm not sure how to do it. Can you do it for me? It's a book for the info.--Taeyebaar (talk) 00:46, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- No prob. Tell me about it. I just don't think fantasy would be a good description as other people might think because it would have to include mythology and fairytale themes, folklore etc.--Taeyebaar (talk) 04:33, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Nah you ain't a butt. I know some users who that can best describe (:-D) but you ain't one of those. About the X-Files I think supernatural fiction describes the non-mythology episodes that deal with ghost stories, black magic, curses and other stand off "monster of the week" episodes that clearly do not qualify as science fiction. Even the article on supernatural fiction pretty much discusses that.--Taeyebaar (talk) 20:50, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
Also forgot to add, the second film in the franchise pretty much qualifies as that as well.--Taeyebaar (talk) 20:56, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Last question. Do you think we should add conspiracy fiction to the X-Files info box? It's legitimate given the show's main plot line is government conspiracy. Only problem is I don't know how to stick it into the infobox and that the sources don't directly state it's conspiracy fiction. Let me know what you think. Thanks.--Taeyebaar (talk) 00:48, 13 September 2014 (UTC)

WikiProject Good Articles - GA Cup
edit
WikiProject Good articles is holding a new competition, the GA Cup, from October 1, 2014 - March 28, 2015. The Cup will be based on reviewing Good article nominations; for each review, points will be awarded with bonuses for older nominations, longer articles and comprehensive reviews. All participants will start off in one group and the highest scoring participants will go through to the second round. At the moment six rounds are planned, but this may change based on participant numbers. Some of you may ask: what is the purpose for a competition of this type? Currently, there is a backlog of about 500 unreviewed Good article nominations, almost an all time high. It is our hope that we can decrease the backlog in a fun way, through friendly competition. Everyone is welcome to join; new and old editors! Sign-ups will be open until October 15, 2014 so sign-up now! If you have any questions, take a look at the FAQ page and/or contact one of the four judges. Cheers from NickGibson3900, Dom497, TheQ Editor and Figureskatingfan. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:04, 15 September 2014 (UTC) To receive future GA Cup newsletter, please add your name to our mailing list.

Voltaire biography
editHi Gen. Quon. Of course you're right, the footnote about Voltaire is OR, and moreover, my notes about Voltaire are intentionally cynical. I was just waiting for someone to read them :) I am unhappy that there are so many very serious looking publications that minimise Voltaire's actions, and represent the authorities' reaction as unjust. If I would steal a bike, I get in trouble with the police. If Voltaire would steal one, he would be in trouble with the "Authorities", or with "le Pouvoir". And someone would write that he was imprisoned numerous times for minor offenses.
Voltaire surely knew that alleging that the Regent made a child to his own daughter, and had poisoned people, is a serious crime (slander, calumny, libel..), in those days as well as now. His second and last imprisonment was preventative, after he proferred menaces against the Prince of Rohan. Voltaire was never locked up for his opinions, such actions were very rare in the Ancien Régime. Locking up, or killing people for what they had written became more frequent after the Révolution introduced Liberty and then started chopping off the heads of its enemies.
Voltaire was a vain, conceited AH. Very influential, he abused his power to get his literary enemies in trouble. As had to experience Élie Fréron, whose publication was stopped by Voltaire - and who got in jail -, or La Baumelle, also jailed by actions of Voltaire. Nevertheless, most publications present Voltaire as the champion of Liberty of Speech. There was only one Liberty of Speech that Voltaire knew, that was his own.
