DYK for Philip Seymour Hoffman on stage and screen

On 10 February 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Philip Seymour Hoffman on stage and screen, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Parliamentary career

Natalie Elphicke Hi there , you have reverted my changes, with the claim of poorly written, well you could of just also improved the changes. There is no doubt that this detail required adding to her Parliamentary caree section, I will see what you do with it, regards. Govindaharihari (talk) 16:44, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

In July 2021, Gale was found by the Commons Select Committee on Standards to have breached the code of conduct by attempting to influence a judge in the trial of her husband Conservative MP Charlie Elphicke, he was eventually found guilty of three counts of sexual assault and sentenced to two years in prison. Gale was recommended for a one-day suspension by the committee.[18] She apologised for her actions.[19][20]

please explain, what part of that is poorly written, thanks Govindaharihari (talk) 16:47, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

@Govindaharihari: It refers to Roger Gale, a different MP, when the article is about Natalie Elphicke. Three MPs were recommended for suspension not just one. Just for starters.Cowlibob (talk) 16:51, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

you are not very chatty. . I await to see what you will add back relevant as you stated, regards Govindaharihari (talk) 16:52, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Three MPs were recommended for suspension not just one. Just for starters. - yes, three add that but really this article is only about her Govindaharihari (talk) 16:53, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Really my only concern is the detail needs moving from her personal life to her political career , and you removed thgat Govindaharihari (talk) 16:55, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Filmography definition

Hello, I noticed that you have put together numerous Featured Lists, including "filmography". The use of this term has been bothering me for a while now. I cannot seem to find any definition that defines filmography as anything other than a list of films. The Wikipedia article is well-sourced about that, and looking beyond it, the definition is consistent. I feel like Wikipedia has unthinkingly used "filmography" over the years, and I think it may be due to IMDb which continues to use "Filmography" for film, TV, and even video games. I feel like this is a vestigial feature of what IMDb used to be, Internet Movie Database. It seems more accurate to avoid "filmography" (unless a figure has done exclusively films) and to consider other terms like appearances, credits, performances, or "on screen and stage". It seems like the FLs you've put together, while many have "filmography", some have other terms instead. Do you have any particular thoughts about this? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 22:07, 7 February 2022 (UTC)

@Erik: Hi Erik! Likewise I am uncomfortable with the term filmography. Happy for it to be deprecated and use other more inclusive terms as long as it is standardised. Cowlibob (talk) 15:51, 17 February 2022 (UTC)
I started a discussion at WT:FILM#Filmography section heading. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 17:29, 19 February 2022 (UTC)

Fan editor research interview

Hi Cowlibob! I hope you are well. I don't know if we've crossed paths on here before, so let me introduce myself: I'm Gen. Quon and I'm an editor who works largely on articles about TV shows. I'm currently working on my PhD dissertation in library science about the information behaviors of fan editors (here's more info on the project, if you'd like to read more about it). Over the last month or so, I've been messaging Wikipedia editors to see if they might be willing to share their experiences with me. Given your impressive work on celeb profiles, I was wondering if you'd be interested in chatting with me about your information experiences here on Wikipedia? The questions I'm asking will be stuff like "where do you get your info", "how do you know if it's legit, so to speak", etc. I'm more than happy to send over additional details through Wikipedia's email tool, if you'd like. Thanks for reading!--Gen. Quon[Talk](I'm studying Wikipedia!) 16:22, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Confused & Grumpy Old Man

Good morning Cowlibob, Thanks for your kindness. I did not intend any criticism of you, in fact just the opposite, but wanted you to understand that Dyk template editing is/was beyond an old fart who just uses the raw text. I never seem to have the context when dancing around templates and never know/remember where i am, so ergo I don't even know what keys to press and what a mess I am creating. Your advice was right, it seems less grrrrh on a wet sunday morning in Oxford. Thanks for your help. I will look again at Chauncey later and try with simple text. Regards. Chienlit (talk) ps. I created Andachtsjodler from the German page and had it reviewed/revised by a bilingual German, but did not feel comfortable because there was no context until I added the definite article as the first word and simplified the intro. Maybe age comes with tunnel visioned pedantry which looks like confusion. Chienlit (talk)

92nd Academy Awards and reliable sources and trivia bloating

Hi there,

I've noticed that someone keeps putting trivia that seems kinda of bloated not so distinct. Specifically, the fact that Parasite was the 12th Best Picture winner with no acting nominations. I think someone else did that before the list was promoted to FLC, but some experienced editor/administrator removed it because was not distinct in nature. I also had a similar discussion during the 60th Academy Awards when I mentioned Last Emperor being the eighth film to do that feat. In that discussion, one of the fellow reviewers said it would be better to note that it was the first since Gigi to do that instead of sounding like 12th, 16th, where it now seems distinct. While I agree that trivia is not necessarily bad, too much of it would make articles bloated especially if they don't include reliable source (Collider and Insider I find sketchy to be included in FL worthy articles). I fear this will escalate into an edit war. Birdienest81talk 20:42, 27 March 2023 (UTC)
