WP:AFC Helper News

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)

New Skunks

Hi awkwafaba, you made a post on WikiProject Mammals last year about the recent species updates to Spilogale, and were rebuffed as the changes were not yet accepted. However, the MammalDiversity database has now accepted this taxonomy, so you might have more grounds to make the pages. I myself probably won't do it as I am currently mostly only working on mammal taxa that have an IUCN entry, as that makes my changes more likely to be accepted, but we probably need some people to work on the pages for taxa without an IUCN status.Geekgecko (talk) 18:41, 17 February 2022 (UTC)

@Geekgecko: I don’t have much time for more than gnoming these days, unfortunately. Looks like the paper is already in the lede for the genus. I guess it wouldn’t be too hard to make some copypasta stubs for the new species. I may get to it eventually, but wouldn’t be upset if someone beat me to it. --awkwafaba (📥) 12:50, 18 February 2022 (UTC)
That's fine! I'm a little paranoid of having my edits reverted nowadays so at the moment I'm primarily focusing on species that have an IUCN, ASM, and ITIS entry.Geekgecko (talk) 17:16, 18 February 2022 (UTC)

Hello, did you intend to add the assessment templates to a redirect page? 1234 kb of .rar files (is this dangerous?) 12:31, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

@1234qwer1234qwer4: yes. Just because the talk page is centralized to another location, does not mean the page itself is not part of a project. Many maintenance tasks use WP talk page templates to categorize pages, and it would be better to have that template included in those tasks than neglected. Redirecting a talk page is just for keeping all the discussion in one place, not because the page needs to be neglected. The redirect should still function with a WP template. --awkwafaba (📥) 12:44, 3 March 2022 (UTC)

Blind cave eel

Awkwafaba Thank you for your quality scale assessment, it is an university assignment and it helps a lot. Hoau4476 (talk) 13:53, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

@Hoau4476: no problem. Let me know if you need any other assistance. --awkwafaba (📥) 15:38, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
@Awkwafaba: Out of curiosity, which section do I need to expand to reach a B-class article? Hoau4476 (talk) 16:48, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
@Hoau4476: you can see the criteria at Wikipedia:WikiProject Fishes/Assessment#Quality scale and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/Assessment#Quality scale. Honestly most people skip B and try for a GA. That’s sometimes nicer because you have someone going over the article and providing specific feedback. --awkwafaba (📥) 01:10, 11 May 2022 (UTC)
