editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Chris Knight (anthropologist) has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): chris.knight@live.com (matching the regex rule (?<![^\s:])[^\s\]\[\{\}\\\|^\/`<>@:]+@\w+(?!\.htm)(?:\.\w+){1,3}). It appears that you inserted an e-mail address to Chris Knight (anthropologist). Wikipedia pages should not contain personal information. For more information, please read Wikipedia:Biography of Living People, specifically the section about personal information.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Hierarchy in the forest.jpeg
editThanks for uploading File:Hierarchy in the forest.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:57, 27 October 2011 (UTC)

editHello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Talk:Origins of society, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Please, Learn to use Sandbox.
editI don't want to be strict or anything, you can do almost whatever you want in Wikipedia, but please use Wikipedia:sandbox. With sandbox, you can edit, review, edit and review many, many times. So, after you think that your edit is perfect enough, you can copy and paste it back to the original article, which result only one save in original article.
This is just suggestion, not some coercion. As one of en:Origin of language translator, I'm kinda troubled following your work with so many edits. -- Rv77ax (talk) 12:41, 4 November 2011 (UTC)
Digital Infinity
editI've reverted your re-write of Digital Infinity, and moved your content over to Digital infinity, because:
- we shouldn't completely re-write an article without gaining consensus on its talk page first
- all existing article links are for the company
- the linguistics term should use lowercase per WP:CAPS.

Origin of Language
editHi, you are doing really good work at Origin of Language, this article has needed some quality expansions for a long time. There are some issues with style however, probably because you are not fully accustomed to the style used here. I would reccommend that you look at our manual of style, or you could look at some of our Featured Articles to see some of the formal style issues that we prefer wikipedia articles to conform to. It has to do both with the tone in the writing, which should be as matter of factual as possible and avoid editorializing, and with the formal requirements of articles regarding layout and sourcing. You are doing really good work, and I don't want this to discourage you from continuing, I just to point out some guidelines that you should be aware of because probably other editors will seek to make the article conform to them at some point. ·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 18:00, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Minor edits and previewing
editHi. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Please remember to mark your edits as "minor" only if they truly are minor edits. See Help:Minor edit for more details. (Currently, you're marking ~95% of your edits as minor, which is incorrect).
I'd also strongly recommend that you use the "Preview" button more often. I usually use it 1 to 3 times, per page-save. It helps everyone!
Much thanks. -- Quiddity (talk) 21:47, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

editHi. When you recently edited Labour Left Briefing, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chris Knight (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). your edit to Igbo people
editI see you added a book. I could not understand the significance of this book with respect to the particular article. If it is Igbo related please say so explicitly and re-add it, ideally with a citation that explains the significance. If it is a book about sex and gender matter sin Africa in general it has no place within this article, I'm afraid. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 16:48, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Menstrual Synchrony
editHi Altg20April2nd,
What would you think about putting this image up in the top right corner of the article? Change the legend a bit to indicate that it is a representation of the myth of menstrual synchrony to lunar cycles in tribal mythology. I think it could capture the essence of this topic (i.e., menstrual synchrony does not exist, but it has long played a role in culture). Cheers.--I am One of Many (talk) 18:21, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Follow WP:MEDRS at the Menstrual cycle article and at other articles dealing with medical topics
editHello, Altg20April2nd. I pointed out here and here why you should not be adding medical information based on such old sources. You are using sources as old as 1937, when pubertal timing (including menarche), for example, generally isn't even the same as it was that long ago. You should read WP:MEDRS and follow it. Using such old sources for historical information and theories, such as what is included at some parts of the Menstrual synchrony article, is fine. But not when it comes to asserting what the average menstrual length is in human females these days. Because you have not listened to, or rather have not heeded, my concerns about this, I am about to ask members of WP:MED to review your edits to the Menstrual cycle article and to review any problematic additions to the Menstrual synchrony article. Flyer22 (talk) 21:02, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Flyer22, "old" sources are fine, especially for menstrual-cycle lengths. The only systematic studies are fairly old.--I am One of Many (talk) 21:32, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
- Note: Altg20April2nd, comments/replies have been taking place at the WP:MED talk page and are now going on at the article talk page. Flyer22 (talk) 22:45, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Hi Flyer22: The idea that the human menstrual cycle is 28 days seems to be little more that a popular convention or myth, based on convenience in fitting to the modern western notion of a four-week calendrical month. The four-week month is artificial and has nothing to do with human evolution, being a recent calendrical invention. I know of no scientific statistical study or survey which has come up with the figure of 28 days for the human female menstrual cycle. Every study has come up with somewhere between 29.2 and 29.5 days. In younger women, during their most fertile years, the length tends to be closer to 29.5, while in later years it typically becomes shorter and shorter. It is mainly owing to the inclusion of short cycles (e.g. 27 days) in later years that studies often produce an average of somewhat less than 29.5 days. Many biologists would consider that what matters most in terms of human evolution and human nature is the length of the cycle during the most fertile years of life. This turns out to parallel quite closely the length of the synodic lunar cycle - 29.5 days. As for the idea of not using careful studies conducted a few decades ago, why not? As long as more recent studies are included as well, that's surely OK. I would query the idea that in recent years, the length of the human menstrual cycle has changed. I would be interested to know where this strange idea has come from? I know of no scientific study which would even concede that such a thing is possible. Individual cycle lengths are of course variable. Age at menarche is also culturally variable, being influenced by such factors as exposure to artificial light. But for the entire human species to change from one average cycle length to a shorter one within the course of a few decades would be genetically inexplicable, wouldn't it?Altg20April2nd (talk) 14:48, 6 July 2013 (UTC)

Five minutes to help make WikiProjects better
editHello!
First, on behalf of WikiProject X, thank you for trying out the WikiProject X pilot projects. I would like to get some anonymous feedback from you on your experience using the new WikiProject layout and tools. This way, we will know what we did right, and if we did something horribly wrong, we can try to fix it. This feedback won't be associated with your username, so please be completely honest. We are determined to improve the experience of Wikipedians, and your feedback helps us with that. (You are also welcome to leave non-anonymous feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject X.)
Please complete the survey here. The survey has two parts: the first part asks for your username, while the second part contains the survey questions. These two parts are stored separately, so your username will not be associated with your feedback. There are only nine questions and it should not take very long to complete. Once you complete the survey I will leave a handwritten note on your talk page as a token of my appreciation.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Harej (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Date formats
editPlease refrain from using purely numeric date formats on Wikipedia, as you did on 2020 coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom. A date written as 01/02/03 means 1 February 2003 to a European, 2 January 2003 to an American or 3 February 2001 to a Japanese. Rather, use one of the date formats that is standard across Wikipedia: 9 November 2024 for articles on British/European topics, November 9, 2024 for articles on American topics, otherwise just keep it consistent throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers for more information on how to write dates in Wikipedia articles. Thank you. — Smjg (talk) 09:52, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
