Galaxy A3 edit

Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016)

The second-generation Galaxy A3 was equipped with Samsung's Exynos 7578 system-on-chip (SoC),[11] with two clusters of four cores, only one of which was functional (differentiating it from the Exynos 7580 that had both clusters functional, and was otherwise identical). Alternatively, it came with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 in certain markets. Both SoCs featured a four-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU accompanied by a Mali-T720MP2 GPU. The smartphone had 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, with support for removable microSD cards of up to 128 GB. The microSD card slot was designed to allow insertion of a SIM card, and thus the A3 could also be used in Dual SIM mode.

Unlike the previous generation, the device had an aluminium and glass body. It had a larger 4.7-inch (120 mm) display compared to the 4.5-inch (110 mm) display of the first-generation A3. The display was protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, also used for the smartphone's backside.

It was released in China on 15 December 2015, followed by other countries in the first quarter of 2016. In April 2016, it was available in Europe,[12] Africa, Latin America and Asia.

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)

The 2016-edition Galaxy A5 was equipped with the eight-core Exynos 7580 (Exynos 7 Octa) SoC with a 1.6GHz octa-core 64-bit CPU and Mali T720-MP2 graphics processor. The smartphone had 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage, with support for removable MicroSD cards of up to 128 GB.[13] The microSD card slot was designed to allow insertion of a SIM card, and thus the A5 could also be used in Dual SIM mode.

Unlike the previous generation, the device had an aluminium and glass body. It had a larger 5.2-inch (130 mm) display compared to the 5-inch (130 mm) display of the first-generation A5. The display was protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, also used for the smartphone's backside.[14]

The smartphone launched with the Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system. Samsung released the Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow) update and then the Android 7.0 (Nougat) update.

It was released in China on 15 December 2015, followed by other countries in the first quarter of 2016. In April 2016, it was available in Europe,[15] Africa, Latin America and Asia.

In China, it was released with Snapdragon 615. The device retains a non-removable battery like its predecessor, rated at 3300 mAh.[18]

The Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) was released in China on December 15, 2015, followed by other countries in the Q1 2016. As of April 2016, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016) is now available in Eastern Europe (only Russia, Ukraine and Turkey),[19] Africa, Middle East, Latin America and Asia. It is not available in North America and rest of Europe.

While its predecessor Samsung Galaxy A7 (2015) had broader availability in Europe, this model was never sold in Europe because it was deemed too expensive and also near-direct competitor against Samsung Galaxy S6.
