Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Private Jets. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Private JetsPrivate Jets (band)Private jet is a redirection to business jet, its completely plausible that an user might search with the plural form and end up in this page, plural cases are within the purpose of Wikipedia:Redirect. Oppose - a hat note is sufficient. - UtherSRG (talk) 19:54, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Maybe disambiguate, the band might not be notable so probably per WP:DIFFCAPS it would be the best choice. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:57, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I'm not sure about notability as well. I just tagged the article when putting the hatnote in place. Wanna run this up the AFD flagpole? - UtherSRG (talk) 20:00, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Disambiguation makes more sense when there is more than two pages, at least i think so. JoaquimCebuano (talk) 21:59, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, see WP:ONEOTHER which makes clear that a dab page is unnecessary when there is only one meaning other than the primary. Rosbif73 (talk) 12:48, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Disambiguate (per Crouch, Swale above), etc. Like, having a disambiguation page at the basename might make sense. Paintspot Infez (talk) 00:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support - "private jet" is a very common phrase, and the band is definitely not the first thing most people associate with it. Disambiguating it would probably be best for when someone searches "private jets" on Wikipedia, but this article should definitely have (band) in its title so readers don't get confused at first thinking this article is about actual jets based on the title. ImperialSaponification (talk) 00:40, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per WP:DIFFCAPS. Someone typing a capital J and an s at the end is far more likely to want the band. And do we really want to add another hatnote on business jet pointing to an obscure band? Station1 (talk) 02:04, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
If this is an obscure band, then I far more likely that people will try N forms of business aircraft names before searching for this band. I would like to point your attention to the fact that page views spiked recently, in synchrony with taylor swift private jet controversy, which is likely explained by this ambiguity. JoaquimCebuano (talk) 03:16, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
19 views isn't really much of a spike, but that aside, you have a reasonable point. Still, we have 3 choices: a) use the title Private Jets for the topic actually called Private Jets, with a hatnote to the article with a different title; b) create a 2-entry dab page, which is exactly the same thing except it creates an unnecessary extra step for those who really want the band; or, c) redirect Private Jets to business jet, in which case we have to add another hatnote to business jet for the benefit of no more than 5 readers per day on average. Station1 (talk) 06:26, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think that @ImperialSaponification made the best proposal. JoaquimCebuano (talk) 19:31, 9 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
Why? With your original proposal at least some people get directly to the article they want (with the remainder clicking on a hatnote, same as the current setup). With a dab page, no one gets directly to the article they want. Station1 (talk) 07:05, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per MetaAlphaBeta. I think that by adding "(band)", it would specify the subject of "Private Jets" a little better, differentiating the article from the aviation topic. MetaAlphaBeta (talk) 22:22Private Jets, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
  • Support per accuracy. This is an aviation and transportation term, and using DIFFCAPS is a "rule" that causes unnecessary confusion and should, in many cases and as implied at DIFFCAPS itself, be ignored. Randy Kryn (talk) 08:33, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per nom. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:35, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Weak support as long as it is disambiguated per above. Crouch, Swale (talk) 16:59, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. WP:DIFFPLURAL makes it clear that there are no hard-and-fast rules here, and WP:DIFFCAPS points out that a well-known concept may still be the primary topic for a variant or incorrect spelling, even if a much less well-known subject uses that spelling. The band gets barely more than 1% of the pageviews of business jet and about four times fewer pageviews than the Private jet redirect [1]. Rosbif73 (talk) 11:00, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
