Head Coach for the Seattle Seahawks edit

He left Baltimore for the Seattle Seahawks for a 6 year deal. 2601:601:1900:C6F0:852D:794B:67B9:C416 (talk) 21:29, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do we have an official announcement? Most sources[1][2] are still getting the claim from "multiple reports" and "anonymous sources", so I don't think that we're quite there yet. Thriftycat TalkContribs 21:44, 31 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mike Macdonald (American football)Mike Macdonald – Only person with the name without a capital D. A hat note should be sufficient to differentiate. Esolo5002 (talk) 16:55, 8 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose I don't think the lack of a capital letter in a name is anywhere near sufficient disambiguation. * Pppery * it has begun... 02:10, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

  • Support, not because of the spelling, but rather he is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC compared to the other Mike/Michael MacDonalds' viewership over the past year—1000 views/day vs 50 or less for each of the others.[1]Bagumba (talk) 04:10, 10 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per Bagumba. That trend will increase now that Macdonald has been hired as an NFL head coach. Cbl62 (talk) 02:59, 11 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. No primary topic and lack of ambiguity is always best. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:34, 13 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
No primary topic: Would it need 10,000 views/day, not just its current 1,000/day? —Bagumba (talk) 17:27, 16 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Support per WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION and WP:SMALLDETAILS. SMALLDETAILS can be applied here to this page since he's the only person without the capital D in his last name. Also this page gets a lot of views compared to the other Mike/Michael MacDonalds'.

  • Support as the NFL head coach is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC among persons named Mike/Michael Mac(D/d)onald, and for no other reason. The coach has roughly 20 times the page views of any of the other Michael MacDonalds. I would strongly oppose the move if the only difference was the capitalization of the "d," a capital-vs-small letter in the middle of a surname is not at all unambiguous, commonly used, and clear disambiguation cited in WP:NATURALDISAMBIGUATION, it is common for a user to miscapitalize a subject's name, particularly if there is a possible capital letter in the middle of a name.
