So what's her real name? Just curious. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.121.74.219 (talk) 00:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Ditto that, I find it weird to have a biography without a birth name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.172.103.51 (talk) 05:04, 23 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm guessing it's Nishimoto but the article doesn't confirm this Spiderone 16:59, 2 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
She is 1/4 Japanese from her maternal grandmother, meaning her mom and grandmother did pass on Japanese last names, and her dad is pretty frekn white, so I doubt his last name is Nishimoto. Their names, Meiko and Keiko are self imposed nicknames they came up with later, not sure if her sister's last name "Nishimoto" is made up too or her married name. --Billy Nair (talk) 00:24, 3 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
I did a bit of digging, and her sister's imdb page has "Kelly Sheppard" listed as her birth name. Some earlier articles call Meiko "Meiko Sheppard," and my best guess is Meiko's birth name starts with an "M," just as her sister's nickname "Keiko" matches her first name. Can't site guesses, but hopefully somebody can dig up more information. --Magneticwhatever (talk) 22:55, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply
Meiko's birth name is Melissa McAllister Sheppard. As a songwriter, her songs are published under her legal name. See the SESAC database for confirmation. I'm hesitant to add this information to the article because I don't think Meiko would want it to be widely publicized. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.46.207.169 (talk) 02:13, 24 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

On April 11, 2015, she married Roman Heindorff, but I don't know if she changed her legal name.

Name Pronunciation

edit

Meiko is a Japanese name that is pronounced as meh-ee-ko in Japanese (may-ko if you say it quickly). It's definitely not pronounced mee-ko. (MurasakiSunshine (talk) 17:41, 20 June 2012 (UTC))Reply
