  • That ChilledCow's channel was mistakenly taken down by YouTube for his Lo-fi hip hop live stream and was reinstated a day later. Source: "Less than a day after ChilledCow owner Dimitri received the notification from YouTube that his channel violated the company’s terms of service and was suspended, the violation was lifted." [1]
    • ALT1: That due to YouTube mistakenly suspending ChilledCow for a day, his live stream became one of the longest YouTube videos, being 13,000 hours. Source: "Over the weekend, following a mistaken suspension from YouTube, the account was terminated, and the live stream came to an end. As a result, ChilledCow produced one of the longest videos in YouTube history — more than 13,000 hours" [2]
  • Reviewed: This my first DYK nomination so a QPQ is not required.

  •   Article is neutral, meets the required length, and is sufficiently referenced. I made some minor corrections that I spotted. Article was moved to mainspace on 10 October, the same day as this nomination. QPQ is exempt. Hooks are alright (ALT1 is the most usable), but are poorly phrased and incorrectly formatted. Try this:
  • ALT2: ... that ChilledCow has one of the longest videos on YouTube, totaling over 13,000 hours?
With that change, this is good to go. – Rhain 00:37, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, let's use that. Thanks. Lazman321 (talk) 03:48, 11 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Not a GIF

edit

Since GIF is a file format, it is impossible that it would be found in a video stream. The sources are mistaken. This is simply an animated image drawn using a computer. 70.162.235.225 (talk) 07:08, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

"The sources are mistaken." That is not how Wikipedia works. We add information based on what the sources say, provided they are reliable and relevant. We don't just assume that the sources are wrong unless they are unreliable or questionable. Anyway, both The Verge and Comic Book Resources say that it is GIF and they are considered reliable. You are right that GIF is a type of file format, but GIF is used to make moving picture loops with no sound. The moving picture in the stream is looping and isn't making any sound, except for the music which is unaffected by the image. Also, you are replacing "GIF" with "image". "image" implies a still image i.e. A still image of a girl studying, which is incorrect. Lazman321 (talk) 13:55, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
They are obviously not reliable if they don't know what a file format is. I am fine with changing "image" to "animation" if that fits better. 70.162.235.225 (talk) 20:59, 2 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Okay, I am fine with that. Lazman321 (talk) 00:28, 3 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

List of artists / mention of gender

edit

After reviewing the list of artists featured on ChilledCow / Lofi Girl (via the website: https://lofirecords.com/blogs/artist ) I noticed that virtually all of the 163 artists listed appear to be men. There were three that I noticed which either identify themselves in biographies with she/her pronouns or a female presenting photo. I think this is worth mentioning on the page given the monetization and the implication of the name "Lofi Girl"; thoughts? Short of mentioning this gender balance, would it be a good idea simply provide a list of the artists featured? Or link to it? I'm new to wikipedia. We need a reliable source to verify this claim. TarkusABtalk/contrib 16:43, 2 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Reference in My Little Pony: Frienship is Magic

edit

In one of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic comic book covers, a pony appears in a room similar to Lofi Girl's, chapter 99 Cover B. Someone please add this.

Why does it say that the animation is in japanese style?

edit

In my opinion, it is closer to franco-belgian — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiniMax09 (talkcontribs) 18:57, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

Renamed to Lofi World?

edit

I was there for it 😄 but anyway the channel introduced another character (in the Discord server for the channel it's tentatively named "Lofi Boy").

I'm expecting the channel to be renamed to Lofi World - note the registration of this website (down as of time of commenting).

Yes, I had to be the first Wikipedia editor to mention this. ~ charmquark314 she/they talk contribs 17:14, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

I was there for it too. Given there's now a boy character alongside the famous girl one, the chances of the channel being renamed to Lofi World is high. But we shall soon see! --79.66.89.36 (talk) 17:20, 11 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I think isn't a good idea because the name of the YouTube channel doesn't change. Moreover, the stream come back to the starting point. Jeanne Angerie (talk) 20:51, 12 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Well, it's clear now... ~ charmquark314 she/they talk contribs 23:24, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

British Conservative's "lo fi boriswave"

edit

On the 25th November 2019 the British Conservative party released the video "lo fi boriswave beats to relax/get brexit done to" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cre0in5n-1E). It is likely a good candidate for the "In Politics" section of this article, but I myself do not know how to correctly add it. Molive-0 (talk) 14:36, 10 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
