Place of Birth edit

There is no maternity hospital in Prestwick. He does live/was brought up there, but I doubt he was born there. It's far more likely that he was born in Irvine. Martin "Le" Roy (talk) 09:53, 6 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

James Forrest (footballer born 1991)James Forrest (footballer) – Should've done this for the last one. Two Jims and a Jimmy. But no other Jameses. Unreal7 (talk) 23:12, 9 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

James Forrest (footballer)James Forrest (footballer born 1991) – this is not a primary topic article, and it is ambiguously disambiguated. The 2013 request is in error, because Jimmy Forrest (footballer) clearly says he is "James", as does Jim Forrest (footballer, born 1944) also say "James". And the "Jim" is also a Scottish footballer. Therefore the current title of this article fails WP:PRECISE as all three are footballers named James Forrest. (the other, second "Jim", does not say "James") The current title should point to the disambiguation page James Forrest -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:22, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. The other "James Forrest" footballers were known as Jim or Jimmy. Jmorrison230582 (talk) 05:58, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
    • Their actual names are "James", per their own articles, so there are three James Forrests who are footballers (the second Jim's article does not say "James" so he's just "Jim") "James Forrest (footballer)" are thus viable titles for the articlenames for all three footballers. This then fails WP:PRECISE because all three can validly be named with the same articlename, thus it is ambiguous and does not carry enough disambiguation to distinguish between the three topics. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 08:37, 30 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
      • You make zero sense. Actual names and common names are two different things. Unreal7 (talk) 17:26, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
        • Common names only apply to the title of the article, not the number of ways an article can be accessed. Why do you have redirects from legal names and birth names, if they are not to access articles? If a person is also known by a variety of names, then any other person also known by any of those other names are by-definition ambiguous with that person, because they all share those names. Therefore by WP:PRECISE there is insufficient disambiguation to identify the topic, as multiple topics are known through that term. It should be simple to understand that things can have multiple names (1), and that many things can be known through the same name (2). (1) is why redirects exist and (2) is why disambiguation pages exist. In this circumstance, multiple people are called "James Forrest" who play football, so is a basic failure of PRECISE, since this is a disambiguated title, nothing is by definition a primary topic. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:49, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per Jmorrison230582. Unreal7 (talk) 09:24, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Assists column in career stats? edit

Not sure where the assist stats are coming from, as the source for the table doesn't include them. I believe that the inclusion of assists was to cease as they are not reliably recorded and something of a subjective matter. Looks like it might have to go?
