Four Previous Films
editCurrently, the chronology goes The Fast and the Furious, 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast and Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, and then Fast & Furious 7. Why was the original not included? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 169.229.108.61 (talk) 02:03, 5 December 2013 (UTC)
This movie takes place after Tokyo Drift not Fast and Furious 6 please change that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.44.122.126 (talk) 08:39, 3 October 2014 (UTC)
Ian Shaw
editI need to point out that this character is not named in Fast & Furious 6, and sources like this say that while the internet has decided to call him Ian Shaw, that has not been announced as his real name, nor brother being his role. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 22:10, 1 September 2013 (UTC)
Lucas Black
editI think the reason they keep adding him to the title is because he has been spotted on the set of FF7 (http://cs7011.vk.me/c540102/v540102427/8939/Y3hSALNMtfA.jpg) ...--Stemoc (talk) 04:52, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Han's Death
editIt says in the plot "after staging Han's death" yet Han isn't listed in the cast, is this a wording error in that Han's death wasn't staged or not? Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 06:29, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- I have see recent pics from the set and Han is definitely in the movie..well atelast he is in a "scene" and I think "staging" in this sense means making it looks like Han was killed by a drive gone wrong, thats what we get when we watch Tokyo Drift but at the end of FF6, we find out that Statham's character is the one that kills Han...Han is dead but he will appear in a flashback...--Stemoc (talk) 06:58, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- OK thanks for clearing that up, I watched 6 earlier so was checking this article to see if there was a release date yet.Jimmy Skitz's Answer Machine 18:30, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

editIt should be noted about the actor Paul Walker as well Deceased:

Nathalie Kelley's involvement
editShe is attached on the F&F series section, her Filmography, IMDB, and the list of characters. No official word as to if she's really signed on to reprise her role except this iffy source. Can anyone find a confirmation on her involvement?? 71.188.21.128 (talk) 04:17, 22 December 2013 (UTC)
- So nothing on this as of June 2014? Okay, I'll officially cast this as debunked since no one has even mentioned anything about her involvement on here, or anywhere else. Was a good try, Wikipedia contributors/gossip columnist ... ;) 98.110.8.213 (talk) 03:17, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Cody Walker
edit"Cody Walker, 25, is a stunt man who lives in Oregon but has been staying in Los Angeles to help his mother since his brother’s death."
"They can shoot Cody from behind and at distance and if it's a shot they need Paul's face in close up they can CGI it later on,” the source added. “If Cody agrees it's because he wants to honor his brother's memory. There are many details that still need to be worked out, but right now the family and cast and crew are all still grieving."

There is symbolism in the end of film that isn't stated here. Please add the following to the end of the plot:
As Dom remembers the times that he has had with Brian, they bid each other farewell and drive off in separate directions..." with Dom continuing on the road while Brian exits to the left."
It is clear the path Brian takes is off the main road as evidenced by the left turn arrow that appears, implying the road Dom is on is the main road. It is symbolic of Dom continuing on this life at the same time the song plays that Dom will see Brian again one day.

Frank Petty/"Mr Nobody"
editIn this film, Kurt Russell is referred to, and credited as, solely as "Mr. Nobody". "Frank Petty" is a name he is never referred by, nor is he credited as such -- but he IS credited as "Mr. Nobody" IN THE FILM'S CLOSING CREDITS. As such, I have repeatedly made this emendation. Please stop reverting it; it's nonsensical to have THAT as your sticking point when he's nowhere referred to as "Frank Petty". Stolengood (talk) 20:44, 19 April 2015 (UTC)
- I went to school just before this conversation started, so sorry for not getting back to you quickly. First up, it is up to you not to make the contentious edits until it has been properly discussed. Second, if you have a problem with part of my edit, don't revert the whole thing. From memory, Petty is referred to as both names once each in the film, and in regards to the latter, he jokingly called himself the nickname "Mr Nobody" upon introduction (call me... "Mr Nobody"). That does not mean that he should be credited solely as "Mr Nobody", especially when the character has a proper, full name that he is referred to as early on. And in regards to the film's end credits, you don't see "Luke Hobbs" or "Leticia 'Letty' Ortiz-Toretto" in the credits, do you? If what you're saying is true, then the film's crew would have done a similar thing there, because Letty is simply referred to as "Letty", and Luke Hobbs is simply referred to as "Hobbs". And so, until you can provide at least one reliable source indicating that he should be credited solely as the nickname "Mr Nobody", I will restore the status quo and any "emendations" will be considered vandalism and will be reverted (Note: I've moved the quotation marks to the nickname "Mr Nobody" because Frank Petty is the character's proper name. To put it as 'Mr Nobody/"Frank Petty"' is just ridiculous). Also, as I explained before, the way you had edited the plot section made it unnecessarily/excessively detailed, and it had been reverted earlier for that reason. At least for now, the plot should remain as it was, as it was at around 800 words and does not need to be detailed any further for reasons already given to you on your talk page. Thank you. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 05:03, 20 April 2015 (UTC)

- My take on the character name is that both names should be presented. Binksternet (talk) 23:42, 20 April 2015 (UTC)
- Agreed with keeping both names. I've added Frank Petty as an alias on the characters list since there's a moviefone article (and several others [10]) that uses the name, and it was probably changed to just be Mr. Nobody closer to the premiere of the film. In the case where Petty's name is actually mentioned in the final film, it should be cited with the approximate timestamp as well as for Mr. Nobody in its closing credits. First time an American blockbuster has surpassed its American gross in China
editAn editor is repeatedly adding that Furious 7's run in China is "the first time an American blockbuster surpassed its domestic grosses in an overseas market". This claim is attributed to the International New York Times which quotes a Chinese Film Blog hosted on a Wordpress platform which states “never before has a bona fide American smash hit exceeded its own domestic gross in a foreign territory.”
There are two problems with this. While The New York Times is considered a reliable source, it is quoting a blog which is not proven to be a reliable source per WP:BLOGS. The second problem is that the statement is demonstrably incorrect, or at least open to gross misinterpretation. Currently, Furious 7 has grossed $323 million in China, compared to $322 million across the United States and Canada [13]. Therefore it is true that it has grossed more. The problem though is that it is not the first time this has happened. Transformers 4 also grossed more in China than it did in the United States and Canada, earning $320 million compared to $245 million [14]. Now, Transformers was the #2 film of the summer at the domestic box office and #7 of 2014, so it is qualifiably a blockbuster, or at least can be regarded as one (there are plenty of sources that do describe it as such).
The claim—while quoted in a reliable source—is being taken from a source of questionable validity, and at worst it is wrong and at best misleading. Betty Logan (talk) 16:08, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- @Betty Logan: I thought this would turn out to be the problem you were having: "While The New York Times is considered a reliable source, it is quoting a blog which is not proven to be a reliable source per WP:BLOGS."
That is irrelevant. The real world is not Wikipedia (I have long been considering an essay on that theme). Our editorial policies are not, and should not be, binding on The New York Times or any other source we consider reliable, FTM. They only limit what sort of sources we, as a tertiary source, can use.
If the Times thinks that a blog about the film industry in China run by a former American film executive who lives and works in China is a reliable source for information about ... the film industry in China, then that's their call to make and we are off the hook as far as the blog's reliability goes. Unless you can show me some reliably sourced criticism of the accuracy of Cain's blog elsewhere, you have no justifiable reason to exclude from this article any reportage he's done, especially if a major international newspaper like The New York Times has decided it's OK.'
- More specifically ...
- I agree that the definition of "blockbuster" is a little aubjective. That said, I do think that Furious 7's China gross exceeding its US/Canada gross is more notable than the same for Transformers 4 because Furious 7 is the highest-grossing domestic film for the year of its release (so far), a pinnacle T4 never reached. Maybe we can so differentiate in the text.
- BTW, the Times article wasn't just in the international edition. It may have been there yesterday, and be in that section of the Times website, but the editors saw fit to include it in today's U.S. print edition, as well, which was where I got the idea to add it to this article. (And what does that say further as to the Times' judgments of Cain's reliability?) Daniel Case (talk) 20:09, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
- I do actually agree that the reliability of the underyling source is not necessarily a problem, in the same way that I would be quotable if the New York Times interviewed me, but by the same token we should take care when a reliable source is imparting second hand facts from questionable sources. This article does already mention that Furious 7 has earned more in China than it has done domestically, which I agree is a significant achievment given its domestic success. However, the subjectivity of the claim that it is the "first" blockbuster to do accomplish this is a problem. It is meaningless if it is not qualified. Pacific Rim grossed $100 million domestically, but grossed more in China; Transformers grossed $200 million domestically, and more in China. Now there is Furious 7 which has grossed $300 million domestically and more in China. Is it the biggest domestic hit that attained a higher gross in China? Quite possibly, but I consider wording it as the first to be potentially misleading. It is unquestionably the most prominent, but that is not quite the same as being the "first" i.e. there are precedents. The claim really needs to be put on a factual level i.e. the highest-grossing film in the domestic market to gross more in China, or the first film to gross $300 millon domestically that grossed more in China etc. Betty Logan (talk) 20:34, 30 April 2015 (UTC)
North America /= Canada and the United States
editWhen editors are documenting the box office will they please take care in using the correct terminology. What Box Office Mojo refers to as the "domestic" market only includes the United States and Canada per [15]; North America includes countries such as Mexico, Chile, Cuba etc. Please make sure you adopt a WP:WORLDVIEW rather than copying potentially inaccurate terminology from the source, in accordance with MOS:FILM#Box office. - Ok Kailash29792 I revert my GA nomination. Umais Bin Sajjad (talk) 07:04, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- Yes, the BO figures are still getting a ton of activity and only a few folks are citing them properly when they update them. Also it would help stability to dig up the production notes to confirm how the characters' names should be displayed, as there is also recent disputed activity over that. Production Notes
editI'm trying to dig up a proper link to production notes, found this one so far, but looking for the PDF like with the fifth and sixth film which has page numbers and confirms which parts were written by Universal. Still pretty good; I see parts of the notes being copied to all sorts of websites. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 22:58, 29 May 2015 (UTC)

Amnesty is an mass noun or uncountable noun
editWe keep having non-native English speakers using the phrase "securing amnesties." As any seasoned native English speaker knows, "amnesty" is a mass noun or uncountable noun.
If you search on Google Books, the phrase "securing amnesty" appears 143 times, while "securing amnesties" appears only 6 times. I'm fixing this. --Coolcaesar (talk) 06:32, 31 May 2015 (UTC)
Marital status
editThere's still edit disputing over whether Brian and Mia are married. They are referred to as a family throughout the films' production notes, but whether they are technically married is not cited. None of the Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7 production notes mention them as husband, wife, or spouse, and it is not clear whether they wear rings. The notes also list Mia as Mia Toretto. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:00, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- This is a complex issue and should be dealt with in depth, but for now I'd say assume good faith.--88.104.136.143 (talk) 21:29, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Furious 7 gross
editThe edit-warring over the gross involving changing the gross from $1,511 million to $1,520 needs to stop. The only source that has the higher figure is The Numbers. The discrepancy has exist for a couple of weeks now and it is not due to other box-office trackers belatedly updating their figures (if it is then they are effectively two weeks behind. Both Box office Mojo and Boxoffice.com (the official website of the National Association of Theatre Owners) have the gross at $1,511–1,512 million. Box Office Mojo also have Furious 7 in 4th place on its all-time chart.
Now, no reliable source inherently trumps another reliable source; if they contradict each other then we look for corroboration, and in this case Box office Mojo and Boxoffice.com corrborate each other and no source to my knowledge corroborates The-Numbers. We can break this down further by looking at the domestic and foreign totals:
- Box office Mojo: Domestic-$351,032,910; Foreign-$1,160,483,733
- The Numbers: Domestic-$351,032,910; Foreign-$1,169,489,159
- Boxoffice.com: Domestic-$351,032,910; Foreign-1,160,484,758 (calculated by subtracting domestic from worldwide)
We can see that all trackers have the exact same figure for domestic, and the discrepancy occurs in the foreign gross. How likely is it that The-Numbers is right and both Box Office Mojo and Boxoffice.com are wrong? Universal itself has the foreign gross at $1,160,494,841 as of June 25th, so Universal corroborates the lower figure that both BOM and Boxoffice.com both have. Universal's last update was today and they should know how much their own film has made. This honestly looks like The-Numbers has made an error, so until we know otherwise we should stick with the lower figure. Betty Logan (talk) 14:09, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- After seeing your edit summaries here, I knew that Box Office Mojo was the way to go (it's the source that I myself have been checking for over four months), and so I reverted anyone who changed the figure if it contradicted what Box Office Mojo had. Hopefully, on my part, that clears things up. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 23:37, 25 June 2015 (UTC)
- I wouldn't mind if the lower number difference if the ranks were like 49 or 50, but when that little difference is enough to call the movie in the Top 3, I'm pretty sure there should been news everywhere that Furious beat the Avengers, and so far no news, so looks like The Numbers made a typo or something Giggett (talk) 16:26, 1 July 2015 (UTC)
Mose Jakande
editWhen the biography of Jakande in on screen, we can see that he was born in Nigeria and his citizenship is Nigerian and French. So he's not Somalian. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dawi (talk • contribs) 13:53, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

Brian and Mia's Marital status
editIs it reasonably concluded that Brian and Mia are not married? The Fast and Furious 6 page cast notes lists them are husband and wife while this page lists them as boyfriend and girlfriend. I'd also suggest not arbitrarily handing out Warnings for "Disruptive edits" when two people have a clash in opinion.
Saimcheeda (talk) 18:36, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
- This matter has been resolved ("partner" wording, which was previously used, is now used at both articles). What I will say is that it was never established that the characters Brian and Mia got married, and that this isn't a matter of opinion – you shouldn't base your edit off what one article says when it could be wrong. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 22:22, 29 December 2018 (UTC)
That might be so, but it doesn't justify handing out warnings for disruptive edits when that wasn't the case at all. Unless you are formally appointed as the administrator of the Fast and Furious pages I don't see why it's up to you to decide what constitutes as correct and wrong edits. A simple note informing your POV would have been enough rather than making it seem I was trying vandalize the page.
