The statement "Lever intended the church to be independent, but it later became a Congregational church," seems misleading. Lever was a Congregationalist and the term "Independent" is an approximate synonym for "Congregationalist." Note that "Some congregationalists in Britain still call themselves Independent." You have a point. I wrote what was said in the source, but having read Lever's entry in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, which says he was a Congregationalist throughout his life, I have amended the text.--Peter I. Vardy (talk) 14:07, 4 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
