Birth date

Shelley was born Barbara Kowin according to various sources (including HorrorStars.net). And while most of these sources claim August 15, 1933 to be her date of birth, Yahoo movies claims she was born Novenber 30, 1932. I've checked the England and Wales birth register for Barbara Kowin and got one result, which shows a Barbara T. Kowin registered in Marylebone in the first quarter of 1932. Gorgon, Other Work

Barbara Shelley was The Hammer Scream Queen. One movie you forgot to list was "The Gorgon." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gorgon#Cast One wonders about the breadth and depth of her work prior to, during, and after Hammer. She is known to have worked for the BBC. What about the stage??? In 1962, Barbara Shelley also appeared in an episode of the television series "The Saint" season 1, episode 4 called the Covetous Headsman.

Death date

An IP changed one instance of the death date to 3 January with the edit summary "My Aunt died in January 3rd, not the 4th as widely mid-reported". I've checked and the Hollywood Reporter states Monday, which is probably 4 January, but might be affected by time differences. IP, can you provide a source for the date? Even a verified Twitter feed might be acceptable in the circumstances. Alternatively, someone from the family should contact the Hollywood Reporter and other media reports to get a correction issued. I do suspect this is correct and that she did die on the 3rd. It does somehow seem unlikely that her death would be reported so early on Monday via her agent if she had only died that morning. Me too; I'd have removed the date if the HR hadn't given a day. None of the other sources I've seen has specified, and I've not seen a full obituary yet (the UK newspapers seem to be falling behind at the moment). Espresso Addict (talk) 07:23, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Some of her fellow (but lesser known) Hammer stars have had to wait up to 6 weeks before getting a full press obit but would like to think she would get one sooner. Although Barbara's local church at Wealdstone have published a comment on her death on their Facebook page, giving 3rd January as the date she passed. Obits in The Telegraph and The Irish Times also say the 4th. However I still think the 3rd is more likely. Reminds me of the case of Joan Sims, whose death in 2001 was reported on (and as having ocurred on) 28 June in pretty much all reports and her obits. It wasn't until a decade or so later that the author of an encyclopedia of Carry On actors sourced her death certificate in his research and revealed she'd died on 27th, which is now the accepted date. We'll have to wait and see with case of Barbara Shelley. Crisso (talk) 14:07, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
