– Move the year to AD 777. No primary topic per [1] and similar discussions, see User:Crouch, Swale/Year DAB, year gets 998 (which is probbaly inflated as similar numbers get around 200) views 777 (number) gets 8,980 and Boeing 777 gets 92,858 Crouch, Swale (talk) 11:40, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

This is a contested technical request (permalink). GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 17:38, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • How is it debatable if there's a primary topic for 777? if you look at the views (and other things like searches) they all show that the year clearly isn't primary. Crouch, Swale (talk) 13:39, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • @KingSkyLord: Do you have anything to state against this request when you contested it? Please read the instructions of the page: "If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why [...]". -- /Alex/21 14:38, 23 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
    • @Crouch, Swale and @Alex 21, I guess I shall state why I think this move is contestable. I agree with Swale Crouch's suggested move, however, I think this move is reasonably debatable and that it seems more fitting for a move discussion rather than an uncontroversial move. • These were controversial in the past because of the guideline and technical issues but given the guideline has been changed, the technical issues have been fixed and consensus of similar ones I don't think this is controversial anymore or at least per WP:SNOW. • Strong Support per nom (although I get why it could kinda be contested). The year's not the primary here, so no clear primary topic. Move disambiguation page to basename. Paintspot Infez (talk) 20:51, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Support. After reading and taking part in several similar discussions, I have come to these conclusions. (1) By default, the WP:PTOPIC for a 3-digit number is the Western AD year, because of its importance in the Western calendar. (2) If there is another important meaning (as with e.g. 666 and 911), there is no PTOPIC. A secondary meaning can displace. but cannot replace, the primacy of the year. Narky Blert (talk) 21:32, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. The year gets between 1% and 10% of pageviews for 777, depending how many views of Boeing 777 result from a search for simply 777. It's clearly not a primary topic. Certes (talk) 22:15, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
And depnding on how many people landed on the year incorrectly noting that the year 77 gets 1,016 but 776 gets 317 and 778 gets 157 [[2]]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 22:21, 24 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Support, per above. Randy Kryn (talk) 12:16, 25 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
  • Support. Year as primarytopic is lame in general, but especially so for 777. Dicklyon (talk) 04:06, 26 November 2019 (UTC)Reply
