January 2000	Lola Shenkoya	Body not found	Shenkoya was a 27-year-old woman who vanished from Ealing Broadway on 3 January 2000. Police believe her to have been killed by serial sex offender and suspected serial killer Andrzej Kunowski, who had murdered a 12-year-old girl nearby in 1997 and who is also the prime suspect in the murder of Elizabeth Chau, who disappeared from almost the exact same location as Shenkoya some months earlier. Kunowski was known to have been working in a dry-cleaning shop on the Uxbridge Road the day Chau was last seen walking past Ealing police station. Although he was questioned over their murders, no concrete evidence was found to link them to him before he died in prison in 2009.
January 2000	Roger Ormsby	Manchester	Ormsby's body was in the driver's seat of his BMW when it was discovered burning in an alley in Whalley Range on 5 January 2000. The 35-year-old businessman had been shot in the back of his head.
January 2000	Gabriel Egharevba	Manchester	17-year-old Egharevba was shot when he and a friend were being chased by two men on motorcycles whilst riding their bikes through Longsight on 12 January 2000. Detectives thought it was a case of mistaken identity.
March 2000	Craig Mirfield	Leeds	Mirfield, a 34-year-old car dealer, was shot in his car in Gipton on 15 March 2000 while trying to drive away from a gunman. A man was prosecuted for Mirfield's murder, but his trial ended early due to reservations about the reliability of the two main witnesses.
April 2000	Sarah Benford	Body not found	14-year-old Benford vanished in April 2000 and although her body has never been found, her disappearance is being treated as a murder. Benford was described by police as a "troubled teenager"; she was in care and ran away from Welford House children's home in Welford Road, Northampton on 4 April. She visited her mother in Kettering on 6 April and there were various other sightings of her in Kettering that day. During 2003, a number of people were arrested and properties were searched but then the investigation stalled. In 2016, police searched woods near Warkton in Northamptonshire – an area known to have been used by acquaintances of Benford for storing stolen goods and other items.
May 2000	Nicola Ray	Body not found	Ray has not been seen since she parted company with a friend following a night out in Basildon on 2 May 2000. She was 29 or 30 years old at the time. Her fiancé was arrested twice on suspicion of her murder, but neither arrest led to any charges.
May 2000	Frank McPhee	Maryhill, Glasgow	McPhee, a 51-year-old gangster himself twice acquitted of murder, was shot by a sniper in a block of flats opposite his own as he returned home on 10 May 2000.
May 2000	Cheryll Grover	Newbury, Berkshire	Grover, 21, was last seen alive by a visitor to her home on Audley Close, Turnpike, Newbury, at 10.30 pm on Friday 12 May 2000. She spoke to a friend on the telephone at 2.35 am on Saturday 13 May, but efforts made by her estranged husband to contact her later that same day came to nothing. Concerned for Grover's welfare, he and his mother visited Grover's home at 3.30 pm and he climbed the drainpipe to reach the first floor bedroom window. Inside, Grover was found dead in her bedroom, having been strangled with a dressing gown cord. Police suspected that she had been selling drugs from her home and an appeal led to a number of people coming forward. A 32-year-old man was arrested but released without charge. Although Grover's death was investigated as a murder, the inquest returned an open verdict. In May 2006, Thames Valley Police announced that her death was being reviewed by a cold case team.
May 2000	Clifton Bryan and Dennis Wilson	Leeds	The bodies of Clifton "Junior" Bryan, 29, and Dennis Wilson, 32, were found in a car in Leeds on 15 May 2000. Scientific evidence revealed that they had been shot dead in a house in Manchester before being taken out of the city. In 2001 a man was cleared of the killings, which were thought to have been gang-related.
June 2000	Jaap Bornkamp	Attacked in New Cross, London, died in hospital	Bornkamp, a 52-year-old Dutchman who lived in the Norbury area of south London and worked as a florist, was stabbed in an attack that was believed to have been homophobic while walking along New Cross Road with a male companion in the early hours of 4 June 2000.
June 2000	Shkelquim Brakka	King's Lynn, Norfolk	Brakka died on 4 June 2000 from a stab wound received outside a nightclub. A person charged with the 26-year-old Kosovan's murder was acquitted at trial.
June 2000	Kellie Pratt	Body not found	Pratt, 28, became a sex worker to help pay for a drug habit after moving to Great Yarmouth from her home city of Newcastle in 1998. She was last seen on the phone standing outside a pub in the red-light district of Norwich on 11 June. Soon afterwards she told an associate who phoned her that she was with a client whose identity has not been established. Pratt's disappearance has led to a police murder investigation despite the fact that her body has not been discovered. A link has been suggested to serial East Anglia prostitute killer Steve Wright.
June 2000	Karen Chandler	Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire	A cause of death could not be established for 40-year-old Chandler because her car was set alight with her body inside. Police charged a man in his 60s with her murder. At the trial, the prosecution alleged that he killed Chandler because he was infatuated with her but saw no chance of a relationship developing. The man acknowledged that he was riding his bicycle on Salisbury Plain on the day she disappeared (20 June 2000) but denied any involvement in her death. With the evidence against him being entirely circumstantial, the jury found him not guilty.
June 2000	Menelik Robinson	Clapton, London	Robinson was driving along Upper Clapton Road on Sunday, 25 June when two motorcycles forced him to stop. A passenger then dismounted and shot the 20-year-old several times.
July 2000	Mark Corley	Near Bolam, County Durham	Grantham man Corley was fatally shot in the head, probably within days of leaving his home town on 7 July 2000. His skeletal remains were discovered in a rural area of County Durham in December 2000. Five men were due to go on trial in early 2002 for the murder of the 23-year-old, but a judge called off the trial after finding that the police had unlawfully bugged conversations between those men and their solicitors.
July 2000	Iwona Kaminska	Body not found	20-year-old Polish woman Kaminska disappeared after leaving her workplace in Hammersmith, London, on 13 July 2000. Her case is being treated as a possible murder. Over the previous year, two other young women had disappeared from the street in Ealing four miles away, and the prime suspect in those cases was Polish serial sex offender and suspected serial killer Andrzej Kunowski, who died in 2009. Kunowski has also been linked to Kaminska's disappearance and in 1997 had murdered a girl near where Kaminska vanished in Hammersmith.
July 2000	Beatrice Wilson	Poole, Dorset	Wilson, 74, was knifed to death in her sheltered accommodation. A boy who was 15 at the time of the killing was charged with her murder. The prosecution claimed at the subsequent trial that he killed Wilson while burgling her flat and had confessed to a friend. The jury acquitted him.
August 2000	Greg Watson	London	21-year-old Watson died in hospital after a nighttime attack on Kensal Road on 28 August, when he was stabbed whilst intervening in an attempt to stop a group of youths from trying to accost his female cousin. The Notting Hill Carnival was on in the area at the time. Crimewatch later showed footage of the incident, which CCTV had recorded in low quality.
August 2000	Ronald Fuller	Attacked in Grays, died in hospital in Basildon (both in Essex)	30-year-old Fuller was shot repeatedly outside his bungalow on 29 August by a gunman who left the scene on a motorcycle.
August 2000	Abdul Bhatti	London	28-year-old Bhatti was punched and kicked at the Notting Hill Carnival at around 7.30 pm on 28 August after intervening when a friend was being assaulted by gang members, and died in hospital on the evening of 29 August. Nine men were jailed for taking part in the violence that culminated in the fatal attack, but no one has been convicted of his murder.
September 2000	Susan Kelly	Liverpool	Kelly, 38, was a sex worker in Liverpool when she was murdered on 4 September 2000. Her body was found in an alley on Blessington Road, Anfield, and she had suffered a number of violent injuries. A man was cleared of her murder in 2003 and others have since been arrested and released.
September 2000	Clifford Clarke	Uppingham, Rutland	The body of the former plumber and hospital porter was discovered in his flat by his brother on 10 September. He had been stabbed in the chest and neck, and it was noted at the inquest that his death could have occurred between two and four days prior to his body being found. Fifteen years after the 56-year-old's murder, two men were arrested on suspicion of it, but to date no one has been charged with the crime.
September 2000	Thomas Ramsey	Manchester	16-year-old Ramsey's body was found with two gunshot wounds – one to the head, the other to the neck – in a park in Levenshulme on 19 September. His crime boss was acquitted of his murder but convicted of the murder of a man from another gang. Ramsey had been acquitted himself of the October 1999 murder of Judah Dewar – a murder linked to Ramsey due to the discovery of one of his fingerprints on the victim's car.
September 2000	Vicky Glass	Danby, North Yorkshire	21-year-old Glass went missing from Middlesbrough town centre on 24 September 2000. Her body was found 20 miles away in a stream in Danby on the North York Moors approximately six weeks later. Glass was a sex worker at the time of her death. In 2018, a specialist police team was set up to revisit the murders of Glass, Donna Keogh and Rachel Wilson. A Home Office review of all three cases said: "It is generally accepted that initial enquiries and investigations were inadequate." Cleveland Police believe there could be a link to serial prostitute killer Steve Wright, whose victims were all found in streams or near water. In September 2021, police announced a re-investigation by a historical crimes unit into Glass's murder, only two months after Wright had been arrested for another historical murder, that of Victoria Hall in 1999.
October 2000	Alan Decabral	Ashford, Kent	40-year-old Decabral was shot dead on 5 October as he sat in the passenger seat of a car in a busy car park. It happened six months after he gave evidence that helped convict Kenneth Noye of a fatal road-rage attack, and the idea that the gunman was acting on Noye's orders was considered. However, it has also been noted by detectives investigating the case that the shooting could have been carried out because of a disagreement with an associate in the criminal world.
October 2000	Raymond Isaacs	Attacked in Hounslow, London, died in hospital	Isaacs, 21, was set upon by about 10 people after leaving a café on 16 October 2000. He was punched, kicked, stabbed in the leg, and fatally stabbed in the heart. Some of those people were found guilty of offences relating to the incident, but nobody has been found guilty of Isaacs's killing.
October 2000	Clay Benjamin	Liverpool	The 24-year-old was stabbed in the heart on Saturday, 21 October while at a blues party in Toxteth. A man in his 30s was cleared of his murder.
November 2000	Vincent Clay	Salford, Greater Manchester	Two men shot 27-year-old Clay in Amersham Street while he was talking to his girlfriend. Police charged a man over his death, but the trial was terminated when the court was informed that the prosecution would not be offering any more evidence.
December 2000	Zoe Parker	Chelsea Harbour, River Thames, London	Parker was 24 and last seen with two men in Hounslow, west London, on 6 December 2000. She had learning difficulties and no fixed address, staying with friends and at hostels in various places such as London, Colchester and Bournemouth. Parker was known to engage in sex work. Shortly before her death she changed her name to Cathy Dennis. The upper part of Parker's body was discovered in the River Thames on 17 December; her body had been sawn in half before being dumped in the river; it is not known what happened to the lower half. Police suspect she could have been a victim of Anthony Hardy (the "Camden Ripper"), who dismembered his known victims after killing them in a nearby area between January 2002 and December 2002.
December 2000	Anthony Rose-Windon	Clapton, London	25-year-old Rose-Windon was shot after leaving a nightclub on Lower Clapton Road on 16 December 2000, and died after crawling to neighbouring Kenninghall Road.
January 2001	Andrew Williams	Peckham, London	30-year-old Williams and a friend were shot following a confrontation, killing Williams and seriously injuring his friend. They had just left a nightclub when the trouble started.
February 2001	Peter Beaumont-Gowling	Newcastle	The 52-year-old had not long been out of prison for money laundering when he was shot dead on Valentine's Day at the doorstep of his flat in Jesmond. Two suspects caught on CCTV were never identified. Beaumont-Gowling had over £500,000 in drug money in his possession when he was arrested, and its confiscation meant he was unable to honour his money laundering commitments or give any of the cash to the people involved.
March 2001	Ian Dowling	Grantham, Lincolnshire	39-year-old Dowling died after being shot outside his house on 15 March. A former close friend was accused in court of hiring a hitman to carry out the murder because Dowling was having an affair with his wife. He was convicted in 2003 of conspiracy to murder, but the conviction was overturned by appeal judges in 2005 on the grounds that it was unsafe because it hinged largely on the police illegally bugging conversations between him and his solicitors.
March 2001	Stuart Lubbock	Roydon, Essex	Lubbock, 31, died during a party at the home of entertainer Michael Barrymore on 31 March 2001. Initially his death was treated as an accidental drowning, but an inquest found he had suffered injuries consistent with sexual assault. In a documentary, Barrymore: The Body in the Pool, shown on Channel 4 on 6 February 2020, Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Jennings of Essex Police stated that mistakes had been made in the original investigation and that he believed Lubbock had been raped and murdered.
April 2001	Rebecca Hall	Bradford, West Yorkshire	19-year-old Hall went missing from her home in Little Horton, Bradford on 13 April. Her body was found in Thornton Street on 26 April; she had suffered severe head injuries. Hall was a sex worker and had a four-month-old son. Police reopened the investigation into her murder after local killer John Taylor's conviction for the murder of Leanne Tiernan in 2000, in part because Hall's body appeared to have been stored for a period and this was a hallmark of Taylor. Her murder has also been linked to Bradford serial killer Stephen Griffiths, who lived 800 metres (875 yd) from where she was found dead, and he was interviewed by police about her murder in 2010 yet refused to answer any of their questions. In January 2019, police arrested a 37-year-old woman and then released her under investigation.
April 2001	Corey Wright and Wayne Henry	Clapton, London	20-year-old Wright was a passenger in 19-year-old Henry's car when shots were fired at it as it was being driven away from the Chimes nightclub on Saturday 21 April 2001, killing both of them. Wright had been convicted along with five other youths of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm against Kingsley Iyasara, a 16-year-old boy beaten and fatally shot in the Finsbury Park district of London in 1997.
May 2001	Don Banfield	Body not found	63-year-old Banfield went missing from his family home in the north west London suburb of Harrow on 11 May 2001. His wife and daughter were convicted of his murder in 2012 after it was found that they had financially gained from his disappearance, and it was also discovered that they had tried to murder him on previous occasions and had lied about seeing him in 2008. They pleaded guilty to fraud, forgery, and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice and were found guilty of murder. However, they were released on appeal a year later, even though their defence said that the "likelihood" was that "one or other" of the women had murdered him, as they had been convicted under joint enterprise and the judges said that the case required the "application of the established law" and ruled that there was insufficient evidence to prove that they had acted together to kill him.
May 2001	Andre Aylward	London	27-year-old Aylward was shot in his car. He had been driving his black E28 5 Series BMW along Valleyfield Road in Streatham at about 2.10 am on 12 May 2001 when six shots were fired at it from a handgun. After the shooting, he lost control of the car and crashed. He had been hit twice in the head and neck and was taken to King's College Hospital, where he died at around 4 am. A few minutes before the shooting, a grey 7 Series BMW was seen alongside his and the police said that they were seeking to identify it. It was thought that the attack might have been a case of road rage or mistaken identity. The police also said that they found nothing in his background to suggest that he had been involved in any criminal activity. Aylward's murder was featured on Crimewatch in July 2001.
26 May 2001	Keith Rogers	Died in hospital in Harlow in Essex from the effects of a fire in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire	40-year-old Rogers managed to escape the fire at his first-floor flat by jumping from a window but died in hospital four weeks later from organ failure caused by smoke inhalation. The fire had been started in the early hours of Sunday, 29 April by igniting petrol that had been poured through the flat's letterbox.
May 2001	Hasan Mamali and Sami Mustafa	Islington, London	23-year-old Mamali was shot in the back of a car and 26-year-old Mustafa was shot after getting out of it in a bid to escape on 27 May 2001. Police are yet to trace the driver or the front seat passenger, both of whom abandoned the vehicle a short distance away with Mamali still in the back. Mamali and Mustafa were Turkish Cypriots who investigators thought might have been hoping to secure a drug deal.
June 2001	Christopher Hewitt	Bristol	Hewitt, an 18-year-old who had recently arrived in Britain from Jamaica, was stabbed outside a pub in Easton on 10 June 2001 in an incident thought to have involved up to several assailants. Many people witnessed the incident but did not come forward.
June 2001	Jody Burns	Attacked in Runcorn, Cheshire, died at Whiston Hospital	Burns, 27, sustained a fatal head injury during a disturbance in Runcorn town centre in the early hours of 15 June. The disturbance involved up to 60 people and he was said to have been trying to act as peacemaker. Police charged five men with violent disorder relating to the brawl, but nobody has been charged with Burns's murder.
July 2001	Mithat Lleshi	Northampton	23-year-old Albanian Lleshi and a 28-year-old friend from the same country were set upon by a group of six men and stabbed outside the Grosvenor Centre on 7 July 2001. The older victim survived his injuries. It was believed that the group was made up of fellow Albanians and in 2005 three men were arrested in Albania in connection with the incident, but a Northamptonshire Telegraph article from 2017 has Lleshi's murder as one of the county's still-unsolved crimes.
July 2001	Oguzhin Ozdemir	South Tottenham, London	Ozdemir was found shot dead next to the River Lea on 14 July 2001, having been kidnapped. His phone had been used by his captors earlier that day to warn friends of his that the 26-year-old, a small-time drug dealer who owed money, would be killed if the people holding him hostage did not receive money or goods. Three men involved in the kidnap were handed sentences of between 10 and 14 years in 2005, but none of the sentences was for murder because it had not been determined who had shot Ozdemir.
July 2001	Daniel Dale	Manchester	Dale, 18, was killed and another youth hit in the hand when shots were fired at their group as they chatted in the street in Miles Platting on the evening of 25 July 2001. A man was found guilty of murder in April 2002, but advances in forensic science led to the quashing of his conviction in 2014.
July 2001	Richie Clayton	Aigburth, Liverpool	30-year-old Clayton, a father-of-two, was shot on Belgrave Road, Aigburth, just before 8 pm on 25 July 2001. The gunman and his accomplice had arrived in a green Ford Mondeo which was later found on fire.
August 2001	Alphonso Madden	Manchester	Shots were fired from the pavement at 27-year-old Madden's car as he drove through Longsight on 14 August 2001. The car then crashed into bollards, but the cause of his death was a bullet wound to the chest.
August 2001	Patrick Pasipanodya	Edmonton, London	29-year-old Pasipanodya, an actor who had appeared as an extra in Minder and The Bill, was shot from a motorcycle as he drove along Picketts Lock Lane on Tuesday, 21 August.
September 2001	Yasser Nazir	Bradford, West Yorkshire	16-year-old Nazir was fatally shot in his car by a masked gunman as he drove out of a petrol station in Heaton, Bradford, on 5 September 2001. It was believed that he was killed in revenge for the shooting of a rival gang member.
September 2001	Lindsey Scholes	Died in hospital from the effects of a fire in Royston, South Yorkshire	Scholes, 17, suffered burns and smoke inhalation in a fire which was deliberately started at a house in Milgate Street, Royston, near Barnsley, in the early hours of 8 September 2001. She was rescued by firefighters but died two days later in hospital.
September 2001	Joyce Large	Cambridge	Large, 88, suffered heart failure at her home in Minerva Way, King's Hedges, on 13 September 2001 after a break-in during which money was demanded from her. She had a head injury and had also been threatened in the same area of Cambridge a couple of hours earlier.
September 2001	"Adam"	River Thames, London	Unknown boy; also known as the "Torso in the Thames" case.
October 2001	John Hall and David McIntosh	Larkhall, South Lanarkshire	The bodies of Hall, 45, and McIntosh, 33, were found at a former scrapyard on 3 October 2001. The last time they were seen alive was on 2 October at a greyhound track in the border town of Gretna, and they are thought to have been shot dead because they had gangland debts.
October 2001	Dean Eccleston	Manchester	Father-of-three Eccleston, 24, was hit by several bullets in a street in Chorlton-on-Medlock while wearing a bulletproof vest on 8 October.
October 2001	Michael Madden	Port Glasgow, Inverclyde	Madden, a 44-year-old loan shark, was shot dead at the front door of his home on 13 October 2001. The 2003 trial of a man accused of his murder ended with a "not proven" verdict.
October 2001	Brian Metcalfe	Wath upon Dearne, South Yorkshire	43-year-old Metcalfe was found dead under a bridge on Station Road in Wath, near Rotherham, on Sunday 14 October 2001. He had been assaulted and may have died up to two days earlier. Police appealed for anyone who was out in Wath that weekend to come forward.
c. 20 October 2001	Hugh Cameron	River Skeagh, Glenarm, County Antrim, Northern Ireland	Cameron's body was found in the river about a month after he went missing. He had been beaten and stabbed. It is believed the Ulster Defence Association was behind the murder of the 36-year-old, but nobody has ever been charged with it.
27 October 2001	Jimmy Millen	Hollington, Hastings, East Sussex	Millen, 27, was shot outside his home while working on his car in Tile Barn Road, Hollington by two men dressed in black and riding a black motorcycle. Following his death, his family revealed his involvement in the murder of Jason Martin-Smith and named those they believed had killed Millen because of it.
30 October 2001	Dwayne Bertrand	Bloomsbury, London	The 21-year-old Holloway resident drove to Bloomsbury and was fatally wounded there by one or more bullets fired at the car he was in.
31 October 2001	George Lynch	Manchester	A 36-year-old father-of-six who was fatally shot in the passenger seat of a car being driven along Plymouth Grove in Manchester's Longsight area. The car's driver crashed into a tree seconds later but was not badly injured.
1 November 2001	Paul Easton	Grimsby, Lincolnshire	Easton's body was found at an address in Hainton Avenue. He had been held in a headlock for half an hour, bringing about death by suffocation.
5 November 2001	Michaela Hague	Sheffield	Hague was a 25-year-old sex worker. She was stabbed 19 times and then dumped on wasteland at Spitalfields, near Sheffield city centre. Before dying, she managed to give a description of her attacker to a police officer. She said her attacker was a white clean-shaven man who had fair hair, drove a blue Ford Sierra with a roof rack and had a wedding ring on.
16 November 2001	Brian Perry	Bermondsey, London	Perry, who had helped to launder money from the 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery, died after being hit by three bullets at around 1 pm outside his taxi office. Two men were charged over the murder of the 63-year-old and acquitted at their 2006 trial.
16 November 2001	Raymond Scott	Body not found	Scott, a 47-year-old self-employed odd job man, disappeared in suspicious circumstances. He left his brother's house in Wealdstone (north west London) in his white Ford Transit van after doing some DIY. Two weeks later his van was found abandoned, and on 28 April 2002 a man phoned one of Scott's brothers from South Harrow tube station in a "menacing" call. Police believed the call to be significant to the investigation. The Scott case and footage of the caller at South Harrow station featured on Crimewatch in April 2014, which showed the individual coming back to the phone box moments later. Police say Scott had no reason to go missing and his brother has appealed for information on where his body is.
21 November 2001	Brian Hardwick	Colne Road, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire	Hardwick, 50, was shot in the head and chest with a small-calibre weapon at his place of work, Huddersfield Car Electrical Services, after returning there sometime after 5.30 pm to change a flat tyre on his car, but his body was not found until just before 8 am the following day. Police said the tyre was punctured deliberately. Hardwick's leather wallet, popper purse, work keys, gold necklace and bank card were taken, and his card was used minutes later to withdraw £350 from a cash machine at Asda in Bradford Road. There have been arrests over this murder but no convictions.
December 2001	Donald Marlow Harriot	Clapton, London	A person or persons unknown fatally beat the 28-year-old at his east London home on 30 December.
January 2002	Michael French	London	French was stabbed with a concealed knife at a New Year's Eve party in a flat in Clapham, damaging an artery in his chest, after an alleged theft of money. Emergency services were called and an air ambulance took him to King's College Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after dawn on 1 January 2002. A man was charged with his murder. He claimed at the trial that he left the party to get drugs before the attack and was acquitted.
January 2002	Abdulkalaq Hussain Ali	Shepherd's Bush, London	On 9 January 2002, Ali was stabbed to death outside a house where he and others had met for a party. The alleged attacker was later acquitted of the crime. The prosecution had claimed that he had murdered Ali for having started a rumour alleging that members of the defendant's tribe had raped men at a party in his native Somalia because no women had turned up to it.
January 2002	Jacqueline Nyeko	Kennington, London	Left in a storage area of a block of flats after being murdered, Nyeko was discovered there on 13 January 2002 by two boys. Head injuries were what had caused her death, and detectives tracing the 24-year-old Brixton woman's final movements found the last sighting of her to have been on 10 January at 10 pm in St John's Crescent.
January 2002	Lyndon Nowell	Body not found	Nowell is thought to have come to harm as a result of his association with a criminal group. A 28-year-old Liverpool resident at the time, he was last seen on the evening of Thursday, 24 January, when he visited a pub on the city's Childwall Valley Road. His car was discovered burnt out the next day in Swinton, Greater Manchester.
January 2002	Darren Carley	Charnock Richard, Lancashire	Carley, then aged 24, went missing after leaving his mother's home in Swindon, Wiltshire, on 24 January 2002, and his skeletal remains were discovered near the Lancashire town of Chorley six months later. He had suffered blunt force trauma to his head.
February 2002	Brian Francis	Oxford	51-year-old Francis was found beaten to death at his flat in Blackbird Leys on 7 February 2002. Drug users paid frequent visits to the property. Police had a phone box removed from Merlin Road so it could be analysed by forensic scientists, as it was believed that a 999 call about the incident was made from there.
March 2002	Exmoor Body in the Bag	Winsford Hill, Winsford, Somerset	The man's badly decomposed corpse was found wrapped in bin bags, a single green bed sheet and a single duvet on 13 March 2002. Also wrapped in them were a white pillowcase and a stereo wire, which Detective Superintendent Barrie Douglas said the victim might have been tied up with. He is thought to have died two to three years before being found. It is not clear if the body had been brought into the UK from abroad. In May 2002, detectives appealed on Crimewatch UK in the hope someone would recognise him, but without success. In September of that year, a new reconstruction of the man's head was released in a fresh appeal to identify him. He was 25–35 years old with black or dark brown hair and approximately 5 feet 8 inches (1.73 m) tall. He was thought to have been Mediterranean, Middle Eastern or North African. He was wearing a gold chain that had a 22-carat pendant with verse 225 of the Koran inscribed in Arabic across it. A funeral was held for the mystery victim in September 2006.
March 2002	Evan Jones	Bristol	Punched, kicked and attacked with a chain, the 46-year-old father-of-two was left for dead on busy York Road at about 11 pm on 13 March 2002. He died at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. The weapon, believed to have been a bike chain or a large dog chain, was never found.
March 2002	Edward Donnelly	Body not found	53-year-old Donnelly disappeared from his home in Sacriston, County Durham, on 25 March 2002, and there has been no proof of life since. Durham Constabulary lists his case as an unsolved murder.
March 2002	Michelle Bettles	Scarning, near Dereham, Norfolk	A Norwich sex worker and mother of three small children, none of whom were in her care, 22-year-old Bettles was last seen alive on 28 March in the Queens Road area of Norwich, where she was soliciting clients. Her fully clothed body was found in woodland off Podmore Lane, Scarning, three days later. A man was arrested in April 2003 after DNA testing showed his samples matched ones taken from Bettles after she had been strangled to death, and although the man admitted having picked her up for sex two days before she disappeared, he was later released due to insufficient evidence. In 2012 David Wilson, a criminologist, suggested that serial prostitute killer Steve Wright was likely to have been the culprit, but police said they had found no evidence to link Wright to the crime.
April 2002	Aeon Shirley	Manchester	A member of a rival gang shot 18-year-old Shirley four times on 11 April, piercing his heart with one of the bullets. Police officers investigating the Longsight shooting found that witnesses to it were reluctant to assist them.
April 2002	Les Bate	Near Wadebridge, Cornwall	Bate, a 71-year-old millionaire, farmer and widower, was found dead in the utility room of his home in the Cornish countryside on Sunday 14 April. He had been beaten and the attack triggered a cardiac episode. His wallet was stolen and has never been found. Bate had last been seen on Friday 12 April at the pub in the nearby village of Chapel Amble. His home had been targeted in a burglary seven months earlier, when thieves stole £47,000 in property and cash from his safe.
April 2002	Edward Smith	Battersea, London	42-year-old Smith was found strangled in bushes in Batten Street near Clapham Junction railway station on 23 April 2002. He was unemployed, single, and lived in Leatherhead in Surrey.
April 2002	Mohammed Saeed	Birmingham	Saeed, 54, was stabbed in the abdomen outside his home on Clodeshall Road during the early hours of 24 April 2002. A suspect in the crime was his nephew, who CIA reports suggest was killed in Pakistan by a US drone in November 2008. He had left the UK following his uncle's murder and was said to have become involved in the planning of terrorist attacks.
April 2002	Terry Morgan	Rugby, Warwickshire	69-year-old grandfather Morgan was shot in the chest on the driveway of his home in Brownsover on 24 April 2002. Police thought it was a contract killing. Morgan was said to have been an anti-drugs campaigner for the local area and neighbours believed his murder was connected to that. There were arrests over the killing, but all those arrested were released without charge.
3 May 2002	Leonard Farrar	Leeds	71-year-old Farrar was stabbed to death in his house on Cardinal Road, Beeston, after a struggle and apparent torture. The house had been burgled a few weeks earlier and on the night before the murder his car had been set on fire.
20 May 2002	Sydney Baldwin	Newcastle	A window cleaner spotted the 44-year-old's body in his flat in Heaton the day after he was fatally bludgeoned. Because the assailant did not appear to have used force to gain access to the flat, detectives believed that it was someone Baldwin knew. A suspect was arrested but died in a road traffic collision before the police were able to bring any charges against him.
23 May 2002	Zennen Blackburn	Manchester	A man got out of a car and shot 27-year-old Blackburn dead in Moston late in the afternoon. Investigators still do not know why the crime was committed, but rumour has it that it was to settle a debt owed to a criminal with whom Blackburn had fallen out.
26 June 2002	Geoffrey Windsor	Beaulieu Heights, London	57-year-old Windsor was beaten to death with a car aerial in Beaulieu Heights, a park between the districts of Upper Norwood and South Norwood. Homophobia was suspected to have motivated the attack.
27 June 2002	Alex Blue	Glasgow	Blue, a 41-year-old businessman from the city's west end, was found outside his Dowanhill home with head injuries. He died at the Southern General Hospital two days later.
July 2002	Joseph Byrne	Attacked in Oxford, died in hospital in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire	Paramedics attending a flat in Littlemore on 7 May 2002 were told by 61-year-old Byrne that he had had a liquid thrown at him. The liquid was a chemical that had caused his skin to become tightly stretched and his head to swell to twice its normal size, and he died at Stoke Mandeville Hospital on 1 July after breathing difficulties brought on by swelling in his airways triggered a heart attack. At his inquest, the assistant deputy coroner and a detective were critical of hospital staff for not informing the police of the assault sooner.
July 2002	Jonathan McMurray	Attacked in Wood Green, London, died in hospital	20-year-old McMurray had left a pub to walk home when he was stabbed at the junction of Gladstone Avenue and Pelham Road during an altercation between the people he was with and another group. The incident happened on 17 July after the pub had closed, and McMurray died at North Middlesex Hospital in Edmonton about two hours later.
July 2002	Damian Cope	London	Cope, 22, was shot in the abdomen outside Browns, a nightclub on Great Queen Street in central London, on 29 July 2002. According to two friends, he named the shooter before dying, and though one of them refused to reveal who it was, the other gave the police a name. The alleged shooter was acquitted because Cope's friends refused to testify and two doctors independently concluded that the nature of his injuries made it highly unlikely that Cope would have been able to communicate by speech seven minutes after being shot, as claimed by one of his friends. The acquitted man was himself murdered in 2006.
August 2002	Monica Flaherty	Bradford, West Yorkshire	Flaherty, a 62-year-old grandmother who had discovered her murdered daughter's body in 1990, was stabbed in the chest during a street brawl on 3 August 2002 and managed to make her way to her home in Priestman Street before dying there. West Yorkshire Police charged a 35-year-old man over the stabbing but later dropped the charge.
August 2002	Lorraine Turner	Norwich, Norfolk	The 37-year-old former journalist was murdered in her Old Catton home, where her 10-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter found her body on 17 August. A 21-year-old roofer was charged with the killing before being cleared in May 2003.
August 2002	Darren Birt	Glasgow	Birt, 22, died from injuries sustained in an attack in Barlanark on 28 August 2002. He was chased from Edinburgh Road to Burnett Road and was found lying in the road in Calvay Place. In March 2022, police announced that they were reinvestigating the case.
September 2002	Kevin Nunes	Pattingham, Staffordshire	Nunes's body was dumped in a country lane about two miles from the outskirts of his home city of Wolverhampton after he had been shot and beaten. Though five men went to prison in 2008 for murdering the 20-year-old drug dealer and amateur footballer, they were released in 2012 because it had come to light that information casting doubt on a witness's trustworthiness had been withheld from the defence.
October 2002	Julie Dorsett	Walthamstow, London	Dorsett, a 33-year-old sex worker, vanished in early October 2002 and her skull and upper body were discovered buried in an allotment in 2008. It is believed her remains were placed there shortly after she disappeared. In 2012 her former partner was cleared of killing her and of burying her body.
8 October 2002	Billy Sibbald	A1, near Musselburgh, Midlothian	Father of three Sibbald, 48, went missing from Joppa, Edinburgh on 8 October 2002 after telling his wife he was meeting business associates. Three months later, his decomposing body was found in woodland by a lay-by on the A1 near Musselburgh. There have been various theories for Sibbald's murder, including one that he may have been the victim of a gangland killing. The police got no useful leads and nobody has been arrested for his murder.
11 October 2002	David Draycott	Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire	The 40-year-old was shot on 7 October as he was about to get out of his car after returning home. A neighbour gave him first aid and called an ambulance, but he died in King's Mill Hospital four days later. The discovery at the crime scene of cartridges from two semi-automatic weapons led detectives to infer that there had been two shooters. In December 2018, Robert Dawes, a drug baron and former Sutton-in-Ashfield resident whom British police wanted to interview about Draycott's murder, was handed a 22-year jail sentence by a French court for drug trafficking and smuggling, among other offences.
15 October 2002	Devon Brown	Shepherd's Bush, London	Brown, a 39-year-old Jamaican-born father-of-two, was shot dead in Shepherd's Bush on the afternoon of 15 October. Operation Trident investigated the murder.
7 November 2002	John Shippam	Nottingham	Shippam was found dead in his Bestwood flat from gunshot wounds. The 25-year-old had been assaulted at The Anchor Inn in Gunthorpe two days previously, and police believed the incidents were probably linked.
7/8 November 2002	Andrew Brown	Streatham, London	28-year-old Brown ran a scooter shop on Streatham's Westcote Road and was discovered stabbed to death in his nearby flat after his girlfriend had a locksmith open its door because nobody had seen or heard from him since the previous evening.
9 November 2002	Theresa Jacobs	Nottingham	In front of about 40 people and within minutes of leaving a Radford nightclub in the early hours, Jacobs, 33, was shot point-blank in a crime thought to have been committed by a hitman with links to Nottingham's drug-supply network. She was pronounced dead at the Queen's Medical Centre later that day.
9 November 2002	Alisan Dogan	Harringay, London	43-year-old Dogan was stabbed to death and others were injured when a café on Green Lanes was stormed by a gang. A man was acquitted of his murder in a case allegedly arising from extortion disputes between groups of Turkish and Kurdish people.
10 November 2002	Martin Gorman	Attacked in Tottenham, London, died in hospital	24-year-old Gorman and a friend were outside White Hart Lane railway station when Gorman was stabbed by a man with whom he had been arguing. The man was with a female companion and they fled in the direction of Great Cambridge Road.
13 November 2002	Jason Spence	Attacked in Great Barr, Birmingham, died in hospital in West Bromwich	31-year-old Spence was shot by an occupant of a silver Mitsubishi Galant estate car travelling along Cardington Avenue. The two people in the car had been seen arguing with him a few minutes earlier outside a nearby pub he had just left.
23 November 2002	Martin Simpson	Leicester	59-year-old Simpson, a well-liked regular at various Leicester pubs, bars and betting shops, was assaulted in the city centre on the night of 22–23 November. Finding him unconscious in the middle of Albion Street, a taxi driver raised the alarm, but it was discovered upon his arrival at a nearby hospital that Simpson had already died from his injuries. Detectives were keen to trace two young men captured on CCTV near the scene during the night in question.
30 November 2002	Tony Nicholls	Brixton, London	A 44-year-old of no fixed address, Nicholls was shot shortly before 5.00 pm in a stationary car near the junction of Tulse Hill and Brixton Water Lane.
1 December 2002	Susan McDonald	Broughton Astley, Leicestershire	A fire that was started in a wheelie bin outside 47-year-old McDonald's house resulted in her death when it trapped her in her bedroom, having spread to that room via the hall and stairway after burning through the front door.
5 December 2002	Wayne Trotter	Attacked in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, died in hospital in London	30-year-old Trotter was walking home from work just after midnight on 5 December 2002 when he was doused with petrol and set on fire. He suffered 90% burns and was heard to say: "They threw something at me. I was blinded and couldn't see a thing." He was attacked on Dales Path, Farriers Way Estate.
7 December 2002	Debbie Remorozo	Oldham, Lancashire	Remorozo was a 26-year-old nurse who worked at the Royal Oldham Hospital. She was originally from the Philippines. Remorozo was stabbed to death in her flat in Oldham on 7 December. She was attacked with two knives from her kitchen and her body was left in a crucifix position with her face covered with a tablecloth. A man and a woman were arrested in April 2003 and released without charge the following month.
12 December 2002	Daniel Regan	Haydock, Merseyside	25-year-old Regan was found dead in his house on Station Road with a gunshot wound to the chest. Nearby was the burnt-out shell of the vehicle the killer is thought to have arrived in, a stolen grey or silver Rover.
15 December 2002	Carl Seaton	Liverpool	28-year-old Seaton was shot after leaving Edge Hill's Weighing Machine pub. A man was charged but his trial was stopped because too many witnesses were absent. Seaton had appeared in a 1998 film about the increase in gun crime in inner-city areas of Britain, in which he portrayed a man who practised with a gun bought for self-defence.
26 December 2002	Mario O'Brien Clarke	Hackney, London	25-year-old Clarke, an off-duty soldier, was shot dead outside his home. Police believed him to have been a victim of mistaken identity.
3 January 2003	Edward Byrne	Attacked in Knotty Ash, Liverpool, died at Whiston Hospital	A lone gunman shot 66-year-old Byrne in a pub in front of a number of people. Investigators believe that someone other than Byrne was meant to be targeted.
13 January 2003	David Warrilow	Chelmsley Wood, West Midlands	The 37-year-old welder and father-of-two suffered serious head injuries when he was run over as he tried to stop thieves taking his van from outside GB Singh's newsagents in Willow Way, Chelmsley Wood. His murder was featured on Crimewatch in February 2003.
14 January 2003	Brenda Wynne	Liverpool	63-year-old Wynne died three days after being pushed over in a robbery on Castlefield Road, West Derby, Liverpool, on 11 January 2003. The attackers were two men in their early 20s and Wynne's handbag was stolen.
18 January 2003	Kevin Clark	Glasgow	Clark, 22, was discovered dead on waste ground in Carntyne with his head slashed and a gunshot wound to his back. In February of the following year a 24-year-old man was acquitted of murder and his father of cutting up the murder suspect's clothes.
29 January 2003	Domicela Skiera	Ealing, London	The 85-year-old Polish widow was beaten to death in her house on Ranelagh Road and the property was ransacked. A hunt soon commenced for a Polish man who began lodging there on 27 January 2003 and disappeared on the day of the murder.
3 February 2003	Margaret Muller	Victoria Park, London	Muller, 27, was fatally stabbed while jogging in the park. Police suspect she may have been killed in a robbery gone wrong.
4 February 2003	Paul Savage	Attacked in Mold, Flintshire, died in hospital in Wrexham	Postman Savage, 30, died after being attacked while on his round in Mold, Flintshire. He was beaten with a wooden baton and found lying in a pool of blood on Clayton Road. The police later said they knew the reason Savage was killed, but did not divulge it. There is a £100,000 reward for information.
6 February 2003	Beverley Brinkley	Attacked in Harlow, Essex, died at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge	Brinkley, a 35-year-old woman with three children, died four days after being severely assaulted by two men in the lobby of the third floor of the block of flats she lived in.
14 February 2003	Mohammed Mahmood	Slough, Berkshire	25-year-old Mahmood died at Wexham Park Hospital after a police car took him there because he was seen in an injured state as the vehicle was passing through the area. The cause of his death was a stab wound to the chest inflicted during the theft of his friend's car by a group of four men.
March 2003	Andrew Jones	Liverpool	18-year-old Jones was punched to the ground in Hanover Street when he encountered a group of people there at night on Sunday, 9 March after becoming separated from friends. A man who was in that group was acquitted of his manslaughter.
March 2003	Shaham Ali	Birmingham	Ali, 30, was shot on 17 March whilst using a public telephone in Small Heath, and died seven days later in hospital. Four men charged over his death were accused at their trial of targeting him because of his support for the secretary of Birmingham's main mosque, who was suspected of impregnating the wife of its imam. The two accused of Ali's murder were both found not guilty of that charge, although one of them was, along with the two other defendants, convicted of assaulting and unlawfully imprisoning him. A second man injured in the same shooting – Azmat Yaqub – was shot dead in July 2004 in a murder that is also yet to be solved.
March 2003	Peter Singleton	Wirral, Merseyside	A masked gunman shot Singleton, 26, in front of his girlfriend and young son as they got out of a car on Column Road, West Kirby, on 27 March 2003. Singleton suffered injuries to his head and stomach and died at Arrowe Park Hospital in Woodchurch.
April 2003	Denise Clough and Mark McCafferty	Bradford, West Yorkshire	38-year-old Denise Clough and her six-year-old son Mark McCafferty died after a suspected arson attack at their home in Broadstone Way, Holme Wood, on 8 April 2003. There had been an argument outside their home two days earlier and several men aged 17 to 23 were arrested but not charged.
April 2003	Stephen Colby	Great Yarmouth, Norfolk	47-year-old Colby was battered to death in the terraced house in which he lived on his own. His two sons said they discovered his body in the property on 11 April 2003 – nothing was missing – and the following year, one of them was tried for his murder but not found guilty. Because there were claims that Colby told people he was now wealthier thanks to money left to him in his aunt's will, an early line of inquiry pursued the theory that the murder was a result of a failed burglary.
May 2003	Viola Mead	Attacked in Wendover, died in hospital in Aylesbury (both in Buckinghamshire)	Mead, 85, of Dobbins Lane in Wendover, was attacked in her home by two men in late April 2003. She was found semi-conscious in her kitchen by a family friend on 28 April and died on 13 May in Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Mead gave a description of one of her attackers before she died: he was 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) tall, slim, had a narrow face with a dark yellowish complexion, and was wearing a black jumper with a yellow motif on the left.
June 2003	Neil Nortrop (a.k.a. Neil McGarthland)	Body not found	32-year-old Nortrop left his home in Brixham, Devon, on 10 June 2003 to visit a friend in Greenwich or Dartford. He called his mother two days later but was never heard from again. The case was investigated as murder by police, and a man and woman, both from Greenwich, were arrested in 2005, but no charges were brought. Nortrop was driving a blue Ford Mondeo at the time; police said in 2005 that the car had disappeared with him.
August 2003	Frank Bayley	Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire	Three men went to court for alleged complicity in the murder of 66-year-old Bayley, but all of them were acquitted. Bayley had been asphyxiated at his Hartshill Road off-licence on 18 August 2003.
August 2003	Naveed Saleem	Birmingham	32-year-old Saleem's fiancée found him stabbed to death in his Range Rover early on 26 August 2003. He had left her home the previous night to drive back to his and been set upon as he got into the vehicle. Saleem's Rolex watch was not taken, nor was any of the £250 he had in his wallet. Two men were cleared of his murder in 2005.
August 2003	Justin Maynard	Manchester	19-year-old Maynard was fatally shot in Tugford Close, Moss Side, on 26 August 2003. He died of his injures at the scene.
September 2003	Natalie Putt	Body not found	17-year-old Putt disappeared from her home in Lower Gornal, Dudley, on 1 September 2003, and police believe she was murdered. She had given birth to a baby 11 weeks earlier but had recently told the father that she wanted to end their relationship and had started seeing another man. The father was with Putt at her home on the day but claimed she went out to buy cigarettes and never returned, leaving him to care for their child. An inquest in January 2019 noted that police had found a T-shirt with two tiny drops of her blood on it in her loft, and concluded that she had died at the home or nearby on 1 September 2003. The father has been interviewed by police a number of times, but there has never been sufficient evidence to charge anyone.
September 2003	Shumin Hussain	St Albans, Hertfordshire	Hussain, 29, fell to his death from a window of a ninth-floor flat on Sunday, 7 September during a fracas in which a number of people were involved.
September 2003	Stephen Henry	Bristol	Henry, 32, was shot dead in an apparent contract killing during the early hours of 14 September 2003 as he was about to get into his car after leaving a nightclub. He was said to have been an underworld enforcer. Nine people were acquitted in 2005 of charges ranging from murder to perverting the course of justice.
September/October 2003	James Brodie	Body not found	Brodie was involved in a robbery at an Arnold jewellery shop in which Marian Bates, the woman who co-owned the shop with her husband, was shot dead. Brodie, who was 19 and is believed to have been the one who pulled the trigger, disappeared soon afterwards, and it is thought that his criminal associates killed him because the robbery had not gone as planned. Brodie had an accomplice when he was in the shop, and in 2005 that man went to prison for Bates's murder, as well as for conspiracy to rob, possession of a firearm with intent to use it and beating her husband with a crowbar. In February 2013, another man who had been jailed for conspiring to rob the shop was charged with Brodie's murder, but failure to gather enough evidence against him led to the charge being dropped in late April of that year. Police made unsuccessful searches for Brodie's remains at a farm and in a canal in Lincolnshire.
October 2003	Eamonn Bloodworth	Leicester	The 46-year-old electrician died after being robbed, kicked and stamped on in a nighttime attack. His body was found at the junction of Ravensbridge Drive and Blackbird Road. A man who stood trial in 2004 for the murder was cleared of any involvement in it.
November 2003	Charlene Downes	Body not found	14-year-old Downes went missing from Blackpool town centre on the night of 1 November 2003. Police believe she was a victim of local grooming and child sexual exploitation. Two men were tried in connection with her death in 2007, but the jury failed to reach a verdict. A re-trial planned for 2008 collapsed.
November 2003	Jason Stock	Hull, East Yorkshire	33-year-old Stock was found with 66 separate injuries in a ground floor flat on Alexandra Road in the early hours of 2 November 2003. He died that afternoon at Hull Royal Infirmary, the cause of death being a blow to the head. Stock had been out drinking on the night of the attack. His girlfriend and two men were arrested for his murder but later released due to lack of evidence. The case is still open in hope that new information may one day come to light.
November 2003	Omar Watson	Nottingham	Watson, 24, was shot in a Radford hair salon and died at the Queen's Medical Centre on Friday, 7 November. It was the second time that year that he had been the victim of a gun attack, with the earlier, non-fatal attack having taken place in August.
November 2003	Sandra Gant	Body not found	Mother-of-four Gant was last seen leaving an address in Hayes Road, Clacton, Essex, on 15 November 2003. Although she has not been found, Essex Police believe the 48-year-old was murdered. Four people have been arrested over Gant's murder, including an 18-year-old, but no one has ever been charged.
November 2003	Gamal Fares Mallwi	Attacked in West Kensington, London, died in hospital	Mallwi, a 44-year-old Egyptian locally known as George, was fatally shot at the junction of North End Road and Thaxton Road on 28 November as he was about to get into a car. Near to the scene was a fish bar he owned. Mallwi's younger brother was shot in the incident as well, but he survived and later returned to Egypt.
December 2003	Peter Stone	Attacked in Cottenham, Cambridgeshire, died in Addenbrooke's Hospital	Postman Stone, a 37-year-old father of two from Cottenham, was attacked near The Chequers pub, where he had been drinking on the night of Saturday, 29 November 2003. He was found with serious head injuries in the early hours of the following morning and taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital, where he died on 1 December.
December 2003	Joanne Broome	Renton, West Dunbartonshire	18-year-old Broome was last seen alive on 3 December 2003. Her body was discovered the following day in a flat which had been set alight on Main Street, Renton, about three miles (5 km) from her home in Dumbarton. She had died from stab wounds. A man in his 40s was acquitted of Broome's murder in August 2004.
December 2003	Leon Forbes	Attacked in Clapham, London, died in hospital	Forbes, a 21-year-old music producer, was shot on 7 December 2003 while driving his mother's car out of a car park with a passenger just after 12.15 am.
December 2003	Kenneth Broughton	Derby	24-year-old Broughton and his 26-year-old brother had a ground floor flat into which petrol was poured via the letterbox and lit at around 4 am on 7 December 2003. The resulting blaze at the property in the Derby suburb of Mackworth killed Broughton but not his brother. Two youths were found not guilty the following year.
December 2003	Evelyn Jackson	Manchester	Jackson, 97, was punched and kicked at her flat in the Longsight area of Manchester on 28 November 2003, and her Christmas savings of £1,000 were stolen. She died from her injuries at a hospital in the city 12 days later.
January 2004	Richard Barrington	Attacked in Brundall, Norfolk, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital	Barrington was pushed into a brick pillar and received a fatal blow to the head or chest as he and some friends were returning to a New Year's Eve party, although it was not witnessed by his companions. The friends claimed that they and Barrington were first set upon by another group of youths after leaving the party to get some tobacco from his home, and that they took a rake, a copper pipe and a baseball bat from there too in case they needed them to defend themselves whilst heading back. The death of 17-year-old Barrington sparked a murder inquiry, but the police later decided that because he was carrying the rake when assaulted, the inquiry would have to be dropped. His inquest, however, found that he was unlawfully killed nonetheless.
January 2004	Danny McDonald	Liverpool	20-year-old McDonald, a key member of a gang known as the Crocky Crew or the Crocky Young Guns, was in a pub in West Derby on New Year's Day when a masked man walked over to him and shot him and a 19-year-old friend, who survived. Joey Thompson, who was later himself the victim of an unsolved murder, was a suspect.
January 2004	Nureni Sheikh	Manchester	A man shot Sheikh outside a Moss Side café on Saturday, 10 January, likely after mistaking him for another youth. Sheikh was a 19-year-old London student on a visit to Manchester for a wedding.
January 2004	Orville Donovan Gordon	Beachy Head, East Sussex	The body of Gordon, 39, was found on 17 January 2004 in a barrel which had been pushed off the cliffs at Beachy Head. Gordon was from south London; he had been stabbed and his blood was found on the floor of a disused restaurant in Brixton. Police believed his murder was revenge for a robbery and three men were arrested, but getting information from witnesses proved very difficult.
February 2004	John Luper	Leeds	Businessman Luper was walking his dog near his home in Alwoodley late on 16 February when a four- or five-strong gang forced him into the property before stealing about £100,000 worth of cash and valuables. Luper, whose wife, daughter and au pair were tied up during the burglary, was 57 years old and died from asphyxiation.
February 2004	Craig Eaton	Liverpool	Eaton, 22, worked at Alder Hey Children's Hospital and was shot shortly after getting off a bus on Molyneux Road, Kensington, Liverpool, on 24 February. Merseyside Police believe his murder was a case of mistaken identity.
March 2004	Camille Gordon	London	23-year-old Gordon was stabbed at her workplace, the Blue Bunny Club in Archer Street, Soho, on 1 March 2004. A man had visited the club and become involved in a dispute about the payment of his bill, after which he attacked Gordon in the doorway of the club and ran away. She died later that evening at University College Hospital.
May 2004	Elijah Fagan	Birmingham	Fagan, 24, was punched to the ground and shot in the abdomen on 2 May 2004 after becoming involved in an argument with another cyclist in Foxglove Way, Handsworth. The gunman was then seen riding off in the direction of Alexandra Avenue.
June 2004	Adrian Marriott	Brixton, London	20-year-old Marriott was shot five times in the head in a park on Barrington Road on 9 June 2004. It was claimed at the trial of three gang members accused of plotting to murder him that they did so because of his refusal to convert to Islam, but the trial came to a premature end when a prosecutor revealed that new evidence meant there was no longer a realistic prospect of any convictions for conspiracy to murder.
June 2004	Nicholas Davies	Clapham, London	A single bullet had penetrated 25-year-old Davies's lungs and heart when he was found lifeless in an alley off Landor Road on 12 June 2004. A man who was to be acquitted of murder said that the crime had been committed because the victim had developed a habit of attacking and robbing other drug dealers.
June 2004	Kevin Lavelle	Banbury, Oxfordshire	The 29-year-old father-of-two from Bootle on Merseyside was in Banbury on a work contract when he was beaten with a dumbbell at a pub on 24 June 2004. In 2006, a trial was halted and a man found not guilty after the judge had come to the conclusion that it had not been demonstrated that any fatal blows had been delivered by him.
June 2004	Martin Toner	Langbank, Renfrewshire	A farmer found the stabbed body of Toner – a 34-year-old missing for two weeks – while using a tractor to remove bales of hay from a field on 13 July 2004. Two men were accused and acquitted of his murder at a 2015 trial. A drug-related motive is suspected.
July 2004	Azmat Yaqub	Birmingham	Yaqub, 35, was in a gym in Sparkhill on 29 July when two men with machine guns entered the building and one of them shot him dead. Detectives were unable to find a link between this incident and a shooting in March 2003 that Yaqub survived.
July 2004	Richard Clarke	Leeds	Clarke, 32, was shot at point-blank range as he slept at his home in Moorland Avenue on the night of 29 July 2004. The weapon used was a 12-bore shotgun. Clarke's girlfriend was sleeping next to him at the time of the attack and his three teenage sons were also in the house.
August 2004	Tom Brown	Southgate, London	The 27-year-old BBC library assistant was stabbed to death while walking home along Southgate High Street in the early hours of 21 August, but none of his belongings were stolen. An e-fit of the suspected perpetrator was issued.
c. September 2004	Aivaras Danilevičius	Bracknell, Berkshire	A body was found wrapped in bin bags and a blanket in Hawthorn Lane, Bracknell, on 24 July 2015. The skull was found to have two injuries indicating blunt-force trauma. The man was thought to have been 30–40 years old at the time of his death, but it is still not known how his body got to Hawthorn Lane or who put it there. In July 2016 he was identified as Danilevičius, a Lithuanian who had gone missing towards the end of the summer of 2004.
September 2004	Natasha Derby	High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire	Derby, 23, was shot at a reggae night at High Wycombe's Multi-Racial Centre in the early hours of Saturday 4 September. A gun was fired while Derby was on the dancefloor, and she died at Wycombe Hospital the following day. In 2009 a man was cleared of her manslaughter and two women were cleared of perverting the course of justice. Derby's killing remains unsolved.
September 2004	Patrick Devine	Claudy, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland	Devine was found shot dead in his home at Stranagalwilly on 13 September 2004. The 51-year-old was a sheep farmer and part-time nurse. He was shot six times through a window as he ate his dinner and then at point-blank range three times in the head with a .22 rifle.
September 2004	Mick Love	Swindon, Wiltshire	Love, a 40-year-old postal worker, was stabbed to death in the street in Swindon's Old Town less than half an hour after he and a friend had parted company in the early hours of 27 September. When his body was discovered, money that he had had on him was now missing, as was his mobile phone. A man charged with Love's murder and with robbery was not found guilty of either.
October 2004	Warren Graham	Attacked in Clapton, London, died in hospital	18-year-old Graham was stabbed in Lower Clapton Road's Palace Pavilion nightclub on Tuesday, 26 October after a row about control of the microphone started between a friend of his and other youths on the stage.
November 2004	Paul Mooney	Liverpool	A gunshot fired from close range killed 35-year-old Mooney at a friend's bungalow in Croxteth on 13 November 2004. Three men were found not guilty of murdering or conspiring to murder Mooney, and in October 2016, one of the acquitted men – Blake Brown – was himself shot dead. The killing of Brown is likewise an unsolved murder at present.
November 2004	Alistair Wilson	Attacked in Nairn, died in hospital in Inverness (both in the Scottish Highlands)	Wilson, 30, was shot on the doorstep of his home in Crescent Road, Nairn, near Inverness, in the evening of Sunday, 28 November after his wife opened their front door to the killer. Police were not aware of a motive. Detectives remain puzzled by some peculiarities of the case. The killer had asked for Wilson by name, but then handed him an empty envelope with "Paul" written on it. Wilson took it inside and showed it to his wife before returning to the door where he was gunned down. The envelope was taken away by the killer when he fled. Police revealed that the weapon was a rare 1920s CG Haenel Waffen pistol, referred to as a "ladies' gun", and manufactured in Suhl, Germany. In April 2022, Police Scotland announced that Wilson's involvement in a local planning dispute was a likely motive for his murder.
December 2004	Courtney Davies	Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire	A burnt body discovered in the Forest of Dean on 20 December 2004 was that of 53-year-old Davies, a violent career criminal previously jailed for robbery. The body had over 70 stab wounds. A 32-year-old man was charged with murder following the discovery of his DNA on a cigarette end recovered at the scene, but proceedings ended and he was acquitted at a preliminary hearing in April 2006. He had admitted driving the deceased to the forest on 19 December 2004 but always denied involvement in his death.
December 2004	Joey Peloe	Attacked in Speke, Liverpool, died at Whiston Hospital	45-year-old Peloe was shot on 28 December 2004 at the front door of his house on Little Heath Road. In 2006, two men – one of whom had a girlfriend for whom Peloe was said to have been a love rival – were acquitted of his murder and a third of incitement to cause grievous bodily harm.
December 2004	Solomon Martin	Thornton Heath, London	24-year-old Martin died when the Renault Clio he was a backseat passenger in was shot at repeatedly on New Year's Eve. Police believed that the gunmen actually meant to kill the driver, who was not harmed in the attack.
January 2005	Jennifer Kiely	Eastbourne, East Sussex	Kiely, 35, was found dead in a shelter on the lower promenade at Holywell, Eastbourne, in the early hours of 22 January 2005. She had been stabbed multiple times and set on fire. Witnesses reported seeing a woman who matched Kiely's description arguing with a man the previous evening. Two men were arrested but released on bail. Kiely's murder was featured on Crimewatch in March 2005.
January 2005	Robert McCartney	Belfast, Northern Ireland	33-year-old McCartney and a friend were followed outside from a city centre bar and beaten and stabbed in Market Street after a fight in the establishment on Sunday, 30 January. McCartney died nine hours later, but his friend survived. Allegations have been made, particularly by relatives of McCartney, that members of the IRA were involved in both the murder and a subsequent cover-up.
March 2005	Orville Davidson	New Cross, London	Purley resident Davidson, 25, was found in Knoyle Street, New Cross, on 27 March (Easter Sunday) after being shot through the heart. His death preceded by four months the murder of his friend Peter Buahin – another unsolved case.
April 2005	Chamlong Allen	Notting Hill, London	Allen was found dead with multiple stab wounds in a lockup garage on Lonsdale Mews on 27 April 2005. The garage was close to the site of Portobello Market, where the 49-year-old Thai woman had sold food from a stall for a living. Allen's estranged husband, a retired actor who she had told people had abused her and whom she had been fighting for custody of their three daughters, was charged with her murder within days of the crime coming to the attention of the police, but he was acquitted at the Old Bailey after prosecutors had ceased to offer evidence.
May 2005	Vikki Preston and Rhona Schofield	Salford, Greater Manchester	Preston and Schofield, both 19, were best friends who were killed by toxic fumes from a fire in the terraced house where they were staying in the early hours of 10 May 2005. The property was on King Street, Higher Broughton, Salford, and the victims were in an upstairs bedroom when the blaze was triggered by furniture being lit downstairs at around 4 am. Preston and another woman had a violent row the day before and that woman was said to have later uttered a threat against the pair, but she denied any role in the blaze when she attended their inquest hearing.
June 2005	June Thrussell	Dagenham, London	Thrussell, 56, was found strangled to death in her home on Friday 17 June 2005 after one of her colleagues had informed the police that she had not turned up for her work as a secretary since Tuesday of that week. A man who had been convicted in 1976 of a murder committed the year before was cleared of Thrussell's murder but went back to prison despite that because there were concerns that he was still a danger to others.
June 2005	Bill Marney	Crayford, London	39-year-old Marney lived in Mill Place and was shot outside his home on 23 June 2005 by a man in a dark hatchback that was probably a Rover 45 or a Peugeot. There was another man in the vehicle besides the shooter.
July 2005	Peter Buahin	New Cross, London	Buahin, 23, was shot in the head on 25 July after being approached by two men as he sat on his bicycle on Woodpecker Road. The murder happened after that of Orville Davidson – a friend of his – in March 2005, and both remain unsolved.
August 2005	Lucy Hargreaves	Walton, Liverpool	22-year-old Hargreaves's assailants struck on 3 August 2005 as she slept on the living room sofa in her home on Lambourne Road. Three masked men burst into the address armed with a sawn-off shotgun and shot her twice in the stomach and once in the head from close range. Possibly to try to cover up the murder, the duvet cover Hargreaves had been sleeping under was then covered in petrol and set alight. Hargreaves's boyfriend was sleeping upstairs with the couple's youngest daughter, and it is believed he could have been the intended target. He escaped the blaze by jumping with his daughter from an upstairs window.
August 2005	James Tomlin	Shipley, West Yorkshire	Tomlin, 36, went into cardiac arrest and died during the early hours of 15 August after jumping from a bedroom window at his home in Windhill to escape a fire that began when kerosene was poured through the letterbox and ignited. However, it was not heart failure or his fall that caused his death, but the inhaling of smoke and poisonous gasses. Also inside the property were Tomlin's pregnant 26-year-old partner and their two sons, who all escaped and survived. Because the arson attack was a seemingly motiveless crime against a family with no criminal ties, detectives considered it a possibility that the property was not the intended target.
September 2005	Kenneth Nunn	Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire	85-year-old Nunn died in what appears to have been an arson attack on his home on the night of 6–7 September 2005. A motive for starting the fire continues to evade the police.
September 2005	Elsie Hughes	Attacked in Caergwrle, Flintshire, died in hospital in Wrexham	90-year-old Hughes was found injured at her home on Hawarden Road, Caergwrle, at 9 pm on 8 September 2005. She died of her injuries early the following day in Wrexham Maelor Hospital. It is believed that Hughes was murdered by intruders who stole £200.
September 2005	Anne Marie Foy	Liverpool	Foy, 46, was killed at around 5.30 am on 15 September 2005. Her body was found in bushes at the junction of Crown Street and West Derby Street in Liverpool; she had been battered to death. Foy was a sex worker and a man stood trial for her murder in 2012 but was found not guilty.
October 2005	Anthony Cavanagh	Liverpool	22-year-old Cavanagh was knocked to the ground in a single punch on Saturday, 24 September after bumping into another man in a bar in central Liverpool earlier in the night, and his death occurred in hospital 11 days later. An arrest over Cavanagh's murder was made in 2015, but the arrested man was not charged.
October 2005	Nora Tait	Doncaster, South Yorkshire	Tait was 69 when she was bludgeoned at her home in Stone Close Avenue, Hexthorpe, on 12 October 2005. She was murdered shortly after she had bought fish and chips, which were untouched on her dining table when a friend found her dead the following day. Police made a new appeal for information on the 10th anniversary of Tait's murder in 2015.
October 2005	Alexandre Marques	Luton, Bedfordshire	Marques, 61, was last seen at his home in Clanricarde Gardens, Notting Hill, London, on Sunday 16 October 2005. His remains were found on 2 January 2006 on the grass verge of Woodside Road, Luton. CCTV images showed a man using Marques's bank card in west and northwest London shortly after his disappearance. In January 2021, police reported that they had a new forensic lead and that a £20,000 reward was still available.
October 2005	Isaiah Young-Sam	Birmingham	23-year-old Young-Sam and three companions were in a backstreet in Lozells on 22 October 2005 when a group of Asian men confronted them and one of them fatally stabbed him in the chest. Race riots were going on in the area at the time, triggered by an unsubstantiated rumour that Asians had gang-raped a black girl. Two trials resulted in four convictions for Young-Sam's murder, but each conviction was overturned by April 2011.
November 2005	Andrea Daly	Southend, Essex	40-year-old Daly died when her Rochford Road house was set alight at nighttime on 10 November 2005. Her sons, who were aged 17 and 20, managed to escape from the smoke and flames by jumping from a first-floor window. Police could not find a motive for the crime.
November 2005	Michael Grey	Newcastle	45-year-old care worker Grey was walking to the home of an elderly person he cared for on 11 November 2005 when he was attacked on Ellesmere Road in Newcastle's West End at around 8 pm. Grey's wallet was taken during the attack. He managed to get to his feet afterwards and sought treatment at Newcastle General Hospital, but he fell into a coma and died 10 days later. Three people were charged with theft from Grey, but no one was charged with his murder.
December 2005	Kamila Garsztka	Bedford	Garsztka was 26 when she went missing in mid-December 2005. Her body was found by canoeists in Priory Lake, Bedford, in January 2006. Garsztka's boyfriend was found guilty of her murder in 2007, but his conviction was quashed in 2009 and he went on to win a libel action against Bedfordshire Police in 2012, being awarded £125,000.
December 2005	Hallam Tennyson	Highgate, London	Tennyson, 85, a retired author and former BBC employee, was stabbed to death in his home on 21 December shortly after being filmed by CCTV at two London tube stations. He was the great-grandson of Alfred, Lord Tennyson, a 19th-century poet laureate.
January 2006	Barrington Williams-Samuels	Clapton, London	Williams-Samuels, 19, was shot in his car early on Monday 2 January 2006, parked outside the Palace Pavilion, a nightclub on Lower Clapton Road. Not long before that incident, he and one of the car's two passengers (a male friend and Williams-Samuels's sister) had tried unsuccessfully to get into the club, and got into an altercation. A court acquitted a man of Williams-Samuels's murder in 2008 after the evidence against him was found to be insufficient.
January 2006	Ralph Platten	Attacked in Sutton, Norfolk, died at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital	A group of men pushed past the 95-year-old war veteran and beat him when he opened his front door on 3 January 2006; he died of heart failure the next day. Five people charged in relation to the incident did not go to court over it because the Crown Prosecution Service found that there was not enough evidence to link any of them to it.
January 2006	Subramaniam Sivakumar	Willesden, London	Likely the victim of a ritual killing, 44-year-old Sivakumar was found dead in his shop on 5 January with a shoelace around his neck and wounds behind one of his ears.
January 2006	Richard Zephaniah	Basildon, Essex	39-year-old Zephaniah was stabbed outside his flat in Bockingham Green, Pitsea, on 6 January 2006. Three men were arrested on suspicion of his murder, but in 2007 the Crown Prosecution Service ruled there was insufficient evidence to pursue a prosecution.
January 2006	Joyce Sutton	Skewen, Wales	Sutton, 65, was found dead in her bed at her home in Winifred Road, Skewen, on 11 January 2006. She had been beaten to death. Her partner stood trial for her murder in 2008 but was found not guilty.
January 2006	Rebwar Samin	Leicester	Samin, 21, was stabbed in Clyde Street at around 5 pm on 11 January when he and another man were involved in a confrontation with two men that had escalated. Police suspected early on in their investigation into his murder that the two people they most wanted to speak to about it (men who were Iraqi nationals, as was Samin) did not live in Leicestershire any longer.
January 2006	Sukhwinder Singh	Epsom, Surrey	27-year-old Singh's killer strangled him and left his body in the car park of Epsom Downs Racecourse, where it was found on 21 January 2006. In October 2010, a 36-year-old man was arrested in Barcelona in connection with the murder before being released on bail while inquiries continued.
February 2006	Mehar Singh Kataria	East Ham, London	On 3 February 2006, the 68-year-old widower was battered to death with a blunt object and then repeatedly stabbed at his house on Byron Avenue, and an envelope containing approximately £200 was stolen. Police thought there was a strong possibility that he knew his attacker(s) because he was careful about whom he let in there and no signs of forced entry were found.
March 2006	Jamie Campbell	Glasgow	Four men were convicted in 2022 of the April 2018 gun murder of Kenneth Reilly in Glasgow's Maryhill area, but one of them was acquitted at the same trial of shooting dead 47-year-old Campbell in the Drumchapel area of the city on 4 March 2006. Lawyers acting for the man acquitted of this offence claimed that another murdered man – gangster Kevin Carroll, who died in 2010 – was Campbell's killer. Campbell and his son were acquitted in 2004 over the January 2003 murder of Kevin Clark. At that trial, the son was accused of killing Clark and Campbell was accused of cutting up the son's football top and tracksuit bottoms.
March 2006	Carlton Alveranga and Richard Austin	Salford, Greater Manchester	Alveranga, 20, and Austin, 19, were recruited to murder David Totton, and entered the Brass Handles pub on Sunday 12 March 2006 to carry out their task. Although Totton was shot, he survived. His assailants were then disarmed and shot dead with their own guns. Alveranga and Austin's clients were convicted of conspiracy to murder in 2007, but the killer or killers of their would-be hitmen remain unidentified.
March 2006	Michael Shipton	Sheering, Essex	Shipton, known as Joe, was 61 when he was found dead at his home in The Plashets, Sheering, on 25 March 2006. He had died from head injuries and there was no sign of forced entry to his house.
April 2006	Fabian Ricketts	Attacked in Battersea, London, died in hospital	Ricketts, 18, was shot in the chest on 17 April (Easter Monday) at The Battersea Bar in York Road after a friend of his made a signal to someone he thought he knew which was mistaken for a gun gesture. Three men were put on trial, but the judge dismissed the case on the grounds of shortage of evidence. The shooting was witnessed by James Andre Smartt-Ford, a 16-year-old who was himself shot dead in February 2007; his murder also remains unsolved.
April/May 2006	Philip Salmon	Farnborough, Hampshire	Salmon disappeared aged 41 at the end of April 2006 and his burnt corpse was found on a golf course on 16 June. A post mortem failed to establish a cause of death but did find that a flammable liquid was used to help start the fire.
May 2006	Aaron Watson	Leeds	Watson, 27, was shot in the Creation nightclub on Cookridge Street on 1 May 2006, and died from his injuries in hospital nine days later. Police believed his attackers were from the Manchester area.
May 2006	Luke Durbin	Body not found	Durbin, 19, left an Ipswich nightclub on his own in the early hours of Friday, 12 May when he had become separated from a friend, and later tried – unsuccessfully because he did not have any money on him – to get a taxi back to his home in the Suffolk village of Hollesley. CCTV footage showed him walking towards a bus station in Ipswich town centre at around 4 am, but his movements after then are a mystery. In 2012, two men aged 41 and 26 were arrested on suspicion of being connected with Durbin's killing, but neither was charged. In 2020, it was disclosed that Durbin may have been in debt to drug dealers.
June 2006	Neil Davies	Neath, Wales	27-year-old Davies was stabbed in the chest during a barbecue at his home on Caederwen Road, Neath, on 25 June 2006. His wife stood trial for his murder in 2007 but was found not guilty.
July 2006	Ernest Gifford	Manchester	Small-time drug dealer Gifford, 45, was shot in the thigh by one of three masked men during a failed robbery at his house in Moss Side on Tuesday, 4 July. A man had his conviction for Gifford's murder quashed after arguing that his DNA being on a glove print in the house might have been due to someone borrowing his gloves for the robbery, and that footprints there that matched the tread of a pair of trainers he owned could not have been his because he did not buy the trainers until after the killing.
July 2006	Jim Stanton	Liverpool	At around 6 pm on the evening of Monday 24 July, two armed men burst into the car showroom where 58-year-old Stanton worked as a salesman, and opened fire. Although his colleagues managed to escape to safety, Stanton was stuck behind his desk metres from the back wall of the showroom and was shot several times. Merseyside Police suspect that he might not have been the intended target of the attack, and have offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to the convictions of those behind it.
July 2006	Beata Bryl	Wooburn, Buckinghamshire	23-year-old Bryl was captured on CCTV at Leytonstone tube station, east London, on 28 July 2006. Her burnt remains were found by a motorist 50 miles away in woodland near Hedsor Lane, Wooburn, Buckinghamshire, the following day. She had been bludgeoned to death. Bryl was originally from Poland and came to the UK in 2003. Her mother believed her daughter was in an unhappy relationship with an older, controlling man.
September 2006	Jessie James	Moss Side, Manchester	15-year-old James was shot dead in Broadfield Park in the early hours of 9 September by a person or people who had been hiding in the bushes. It is believed his murder may have been a case of mistaken identity. Police have been worried about the lack of witnesses coming forward, possibly due to fear of the repercussions.
September 2006	Duncan Frame	Thamesmead, London	Frame, 52, suffered head injuries and heart failure after getting caught up in a nighttime brawl at the Cutty Sark pub on Saturday, 9 September. Fans of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and Charlton Athletic F.C. had gathered there, but the latter of these clubs later issued a statement denying that the brawl was to do with football.
September 2006	Dean Myles	Bristol	Myles was shot in a Bristol nightclub on Saturday 16 September 2006 during a visit to the city from London. Four men were tried for the murder of the 19-year-old, and one of them was acquitted. Because the jury could not reach a verdict on any of the other three, a retrial was ordered, but the case against them ended up being dropped because the Court of Appeal would not permit statements from anonymous witnesses to be read out in court in their absence.
September 2006	Jason Gale-Bent	Attacked in New Cross, London, died in hospital	29-year-old Gale-Bent was outside with his brother and a friend on 17 September 2006 when a gang of youths who were not known to them approached and attacked him. As well as being beaten, he was hit with an airgun pellet and received two stab wounds, one of which penetrated the heart and was the fatal injury. Police considered the incident to be possibly linked to one involving a man being chased and stabbed in Deptford later on the same day.
September 2006	Dean Jeffery	Bristol	39-year-old Jeffery died on 28 September 2006 after being attacked a week earlier as he walked back to his home near Fishponds Road from a trip to a local shop.
October 2006	Antoine Smith	Clapham, London	Two youths on bikes shot 24-year-old Smith near a pizza takeaway on 20 October 2006 in what was thought to have been a gangland slaying.
October 2006	Jerome Vassell	Haringey, London	19-year-old Vassell was shot in the head on 28 October 2006 as he sat in a car in the car park of the West Indian Cultural Centre in Clarendon Road, Haringey. He initially survived the attack and was treated in hospital, but was left with brain damage and partial paralysis. In March 2007 Vassell was discharged, but on 27 December 2007 he collapsed at his home in Harringay Road and died. His case then became a murder one and the Metropolitan Police offered a £20,000 reward to anyone who had information leading to a conviction.
November 2006	Jamail Newton	Camberwell, London	19-year-old Newton was shot several times on 1 November 2006 whilst outside a Camberwell Green nightclub with friends.
November 2006	Christopher Elliott	Leeds	Elliott's burnt body was found near Roundhay Road on 20 November 2006 after he was taken from his Bramley flat and battered to death. Four men were charged with but not convicted of the murder of the 39-year-old.
December 2006	Jimoh Plunkett	Ipswich, Suffolk	The 24-year-old from London was shot in the chest in an Ipswich nightclub and later pronounced dead at the town's main hospital. In October 2008, a man who had become one of two prime suspects in the killing – fellow Londoner Errol Davis – died in very similar circumstances in another murder that has not been solved.
January 2007	Paul Kelly	Bath, Somerset	Following an argument that had started in a pub and continued in an adjoining alley during the early hours of New Year's Day, 32-year-old Kelly was hit over the head with a mobile phone and then knifed. Kelly fell, hitting his head on a concrete bollard, and was kicked whilst he lay on the ground. Nathan Dixon was charged with his murder but later acquitted in court.
January 2007	Robert Pride-McLeod	Harrogate, North Yorkshire	Pride-McLeod's body was found in the cellar of a homeless hostel on 21 January 2007 following a severe assault on the 49-year-old. The assault probably took place within a few days of his arrival at the hostel on 12 January.
January 2007	John Iveson	Body not found	Iveson's disappearance on 30 January 2007 is being treated as murder. The 36-year-old's wife was pregnant with his fifth child when he vanished from Nantwich, Cheshire. In April 2012, two men were found not guilty of his murder; the trial heard that Iveson owed almost £250,000 to his brother-in-law.
February 2007	James Andre Smartt-Ford	London	On 3 February at approximately 10.55 pm, the Metropolitan Police received a call about a shooting at Streatham Ice Arena, an ice-skating rink where over 300 people were attending a disco. A youth had shot 17-year-old Smartt-Ford, who then staggered onto the ice from the area at the bottom of a stairway and collapsed. He died at about midnight in hospital. Although there were multiple witnesses, the killer has not been identified.
February 2007	Chamberlain Igwemba	Peckham, London	Drug baron Igwemba, 47, and his accountant were shot on Sunday, 4 February at a flat on Clayton Road, but the accountant survived. Two Jamaican men were acquitted.
February 2007	Sajid Saddique	Body not found	Saddique, a father of three, met a friend in the car park of an Asda supermarket in Shipley, West Yorkshire, on 14 February 2007 and was never seen again. He was declared dead in 2014 and his disappearance began to be treated as a murder investigation later that same year. Saddique had been involved in disputes over money at the time of his disappearance and the investigation has seen two men arrested but not charged. A second inquest into his death in December 2020 ruled that he had been unlawfully killed, and the murder investigation remains ongoing.
February 2007	Billy Cox	Clapham, London	Cox's 13-year-old sister arrived home from school and found the 15-year-old dying from bullet wounds in his bedroom on 14 February. Their home was in Fenwick Place, and no evidence of anyone having broken and entered the property was discovered. Two men were arrested over Cox's death in 2019.
March 2007	Terry McSpadden	Body not found	24-year-old McSpadden told people prior to vanishing on 2 March 2007 that he feared he was going to be murdered because he had recently woken up on the sofa in a friend's cottage to find himself encased in industrial-style cling film before being rescued from suffocation by his friend coming home and cutting through the material. The cottage was in Elm, a village on the Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border. McSpadden's friend was charged with murder in November 2012, but a judge at Norwich Crown Court ruled that the evidence pointing towards his guilt was too inadequate for proceedings against him to continue.
March 2007	Tyno Kavuala	College Park, London	Kavuala, 20, was shot dead in his car near the northern end of Scrubs Lane on 4 March, and the shooting appeared to have been gang-related. A 22-year-old man murdered in London in May 2010 – Daniel Smith – was thought to have been targeted because he looked like Kavuala's suspected assailant.
March 2007	Callum Bland	Wellingborough, Northamptonshire	Three-year-old Bland was killed on 19 March 2007 by smoke from a fire that had spread to the interior of his home after being started in a wheelie bin next to one of the property's external doors. His mother, her partner and three other children escaped. Two boys in their mid-teens were apprehended and released four years later.
March 2007	Mustapha Charkaui	Attacked in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, later died in hospital in Oxford	Charkaui, 57, and his wife were attacked at their home in Dunsham Lane on 12 March 2007. Two men broke in and beat them with a spade. His wife survived, but Charkaui died of his injuries on 23 March. Police were unable to establish a motive for the attack.
April 2007	Robert Keetley	Nottingham	37-year-old Keetley's body was recovered from the River Trent on 8 May 2007 after he had disappeared on 29 April. His wallet, mobile phone and gold chain were missing, and it is believed that he either ended up in the river while being chased by robbers or was pushed into it.
May 2007	Lavinia Branch	Murrow, Cambridgeshire	71-year-old Lavinia Branch and her 77-year-old husband were beaten with a blunt object at their caravan on 12 May 2007 before it was set on fire with them still inside. A critically injured Mr Branch then emerged from the caravan, which was on a travellers' site in the village of Murrow. Their son was charged with the murder of his mother and the attempted murder of his father, but he protested his innocence and was found not guilty at a hearing where his father claimed via TV link that he had recollections of him attacking them after asking Mrs Branch for money and not being given any by her.
June 2007	Ashley Dighton	Ashford, Kent	19-year-old Dighton was last seen alive at Sainsbury's supermarket on Simone Weil Avenue, Ashford, on 11 June. His body was found a month later, buried beneath branches in woodland close to the supermarket. He had been decapitated. Dighton's father made an appeal for new information on the 11th anniversary of his son's murder.
July 2007	Xiong Zhang	Attacked in Barking, London, died in hospital	The 33-year-old Chinese national made a living by selling DVDs on the street, but did not have any with him when two plain-clothes police officers found him injured on a Barking towpath near to where he was seen hawking hours previously, suggesting that the motive was robbery. He was taken to hospital, where it was discovered that he had a brain injury, and this injury led to his death on 29 July – eight days after the attack that caused it.
September 2007	Edvin Johnson	Camberwell, London	Johnson, 19, was stabbed in the groin when five youths attacked him and a friend in the stairwell of a block of flats on 16 September 2007. It is not believed that either of them was an intended target.
September 2007	Daniel Denis	Attacked in Acton, London, died in hospital	26-year-old Denis died in Hammersmith's Charing Cross Hospital a few hours after being shot from a car as he drove his own along Acton's Brassie Avenue at night on 18 September 2007. Five people were arrested and released.
17 October 2007	Jonathan Matondo	Sheffield	Matondo moved from the Democratic Republic of Congo to England at the age of six and was shot dead at 16 near a children's play area in Sheffield by someone presumed by police to have been from a rival postcode gang. A man formally accused of Matondo's murder was found not guilty at a second trial after the jury at his first one failed to reach a verdict.
November 2007	Colin Smith	Liverpool	Smith, cleared in 1993 of being complicit in a conspiracy to import a large amount of cocaine into Britain from Venezuela, was shot dead aged 40 outside a gym in Speke on 13 November 2007.
November 2007	Margaret Hawkins	Orpington, London	Following a burglary and an assault on Hawkins at the 87-year-old's bungalow on Charterhouse Road, Orpington on 16 November 2007, the police started to class her as a murder victim when, after collapsing due to shock while telling officers about her ordeal, she died in hospital on 18 November. There were two perpetrators – both of whom were male and thought to be between 25 and 40 years of age. Hawkins's handbag was discovered under a tree at a garden centre in Chislehurst. It was handed to the police on Christmas Eve 2007, but the tiny amount of DNA found on it did not have any evidential value.
December 2007	Dipo Seweje	Walworth, London	Seweje was fatally shot in a stairwell of a block of flats on 26 December 2007 and police found his body in a nearby communal garden the day after when investigating reports of the shooting. The gun used to kill the 20-year-old student was also used to kill ex-professional boxer James Oyebola five months previously.
January 2008	Sarah Melia	Horwich, Lancashire	Melia, 34, was stabbed six times at her home on Catherine Street West, Horwich, near Bolton, on 14 January 2008. Her body was found by her teenage daughter at the foot of the stairs. Melia's brother stood trial for her murder twice, but both trials collapsed and he was found not guilty.
January 2008	Halton McCollin	Manchester	McCollin died in hospital on 22 January after he was shot in the head in a Chinese takeaway in Stretford when he was mistaken for a gang member. A reward of £50,000 is on offer for information that results in a person being found guilty of the 20-year-old's murder.
February 2008	Louis Brathwaite	Manchester	16-year-old Brathwaite died 12 days after two bullets hit him when a gunman indiscriminately fired shots into a betting shop in Withington. The gunman was driven away from the scene in a Volkswagen Golf.
February 2008	Steven Bates	Battersea, London	Three men in their 20s were acquitted of the murder of 36-year-old Bates, a father-of-five hit by a car and fatally stabbed in Tennyson Street on 14 February 2008. Two of the acquitted – one earlier cleared of the still-unsolved 2006 killing of Fabian Ricketts – were the sons of a woman who was having an affair with the deceased at the time of his death.
1 March 2008	David O'Leary	Lydden, Kent	A gunman fired two shots at O'Leary, a scaffolder aged 31, within moments of him returning home from a night out with his girlfriend, hitting him in the chest and neck. The crime had hallmarks of a professional killing, but a motive for it remains undetermined.
March 2008	Harun Khan	Tipton, West Midlands	Taxi driver Khan, 39, was shot dead outside his home in Tudor Street on 3 March. Police have treated the crime as a suspected honour killing.
March 2008	Clare Brown	Manchester	25-year-old Brown's brother discovered her strangled to death at her home in Miles Platting on 9 March 2008. Her former boyfriend was acquitted of her murder the following November.
March 2008	Nicholas Clarke	London	Clarke, known as "Ratty", was shot in the head on the Myatt's Fields Estate, Stockwell, in the early hours of 15 March. He died in hospital. Clarke was with a group of friends, and the shot was fired from a distance.
April 2008	Matthew Demko	Ashtead, Surrey	Demko, 25, was killed with a metal barbell on 4 April 2008. He died in the garage of the home of a friend who was later charged with murder, the prosecution claiming that the killing occurred because of an outstanding debt. The defendant was found not guilty.
April 2008	Margaret Briers	Attacked in St Helens, died in hospital in Whiston (both in Merseyside)	Briers, 82, was fatally injured by an intruder at her home in Caldbeck Grove, Carr Mill, on 30 March 2008. Her attacker stole just £16. Briers was found 12 hours after the attack and died in hospital a week later.
May 2008	Kuldeep Sidhu	Birmingham	25-year-old Sidhu was found dead after a fire at her home on Glyn Farm Road, Quinton, on 14 May 2008. She was in the early stages of pregnancy at the time of her death. The scene had been staged to make it look like Sidhu had killed herself, with a note purporting to have been written by her and a noose around her neck. In May 2010, a coroner ruled that she had been unlawfully killed by someone known to her.
May 2008	Joyce Cregeen	Epsom, Surrey	81-year-old Cregeen was found stabbed to death at her home on Sefton Road, Epsom, on 15 May 2008. A woman stood trial for her murder the following year but was found not guilty. In 2018 the case was reopened by the Surrey and Sussex major crime team to investigate new lines of enquiry.
May 2008	Victoria Couchman	St Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex	The skull of 19-year-old single mother Couchman was found in Redgeland Wood on 13 October 2008. It had reportedly been photographed and played with by children. A detailed search uncovered a femur and pelvis. Couchman had been missing since mid-May 2008. Her father was charged but killed himself in prison two days before he was due to stand trial at Lewes Crown Court.
June 2008	Adam Chadwick	Leeds	Father-of-one Chadwick, 20, was shot when a masked gang tried to force their way into his sister's house on 24 June 2008. Chadwick was watching a film at the house in Clifton Mount, Harehills, when a woman knocked on the door and asked for "Michelle". She knocked again and three masked men tried to force their way in, shooting Chadwick in the struggle. He died two days later in hospital. Despite extensive appeals, a reconstruction on the BBC's Crimewatch and a reward of £10,000, no-one has been convicted of his murder. West Yorkshire Police said the men were described as black and wearing masks and camouflaged clothing. The woman with them was described as being white, aged in her late 20s and around 5 feet 5 inches (1.65 m) tall with dark brown hair, olive skin and dark eyes.
July 2008	John Rouse	Hull, East Yorkshire	Rouse's mother found him dead in his shower on 31 July 2008 after letting herself into his flat because no one had come to the door. It appeared to detectives that whoever had shot the 45-year-old drug dealer was in the flat with his permission, was likely to be someone he knew well, and might have killed him because they owed him money. A pub landlord from London who was acquitted of the murder the year after the crime remains the only person to have been charged with it.
September 2008	Paul Duckenfield	Body not found	Duckenfield was last seen at the Palm Trees restaurant near Great Saling, near Braintree, Essex, on 15 September 2008. Although his body has not been found, police believe he was murdered on or around 16 September 2008. Investigations revealed a possible link with the dealing of anabolic steroids.
September 2008	Clive Enkel	Romford, Essex	53-year-old Enkel was beaten at the home he shared with his elderly father on Alderwood Drive, Abridge, Essex, by men with baseball bats on 25 September. He died in Queen's Hospital, Romford, two days later. Police investigated a group of men who were knocking on doors looking for casual work. Two men were arrested but released without charge.
October 2008	Surjit Takhar	Telford, Shropshire	Takhar's remains were found by roadworkers at a motorway junction on the outskirts of Telford in 2015. He had not been seen since early October 2008 and had phoned the police days before going missing to report an unwanted person at his home in Oldbury, West Midlands. The 37-year-old delivery driver's death might have been to do with money he owed.
October 2008	Errol Davis	London	24-year-old Davis, a prime suspect in the murder of 24-year-old Jimoh Plunkett in Ipswich, died at the Royal London Hospital about six hours after receiving a single shot to the head in the seOne nightclub on Weston Street, Southwark. A man tried at the Old Bailey in 2011 for Davis's murder and the February 2009 killing of 25-year-old Larry Safie was acquitted of these crimes but jailed for another shooting.
October 2008	Daniel King	Ditton, Kent	51-year-old King was shot dead in his house on Medina Road, Ditton, in the early hours of 17 October 2008. The police investigation that followed probed the theory of a connection between this crime and one in November 2006 in which his lounge window was shot out.
November 2008	Lea Brooke	Wakefield, West Yorkshire	Brooke, 81, died when her home on Walton Lane, Wakefield, was set on fire on 10 November. In a case which police believe was one of mistaken identity, white spirit was poured through the letterbox and set alight. Brooke's murder was featured on Crimewatch.
November 2008	Andrew Cresswell	Pluckley, Kent	Creswell was found dead on 11 November 2008 at a café on an industrial estate; the cause of death was a blow to the head. He was the owner of the café and police thought the assailant might have been there to burgle it. Five people have been arrested but not charged over the murder of the 51-year-old aviation archaeologist, who also had a mobile home on that estate.
December 2008	Andrew Cunningham	Earlsfield, London	On 10 December 2008, the body of Cunningham, 52-year-old convicted child sex offender, was found in his caravan outside the haulage yard where he worked. He had been stabbed and his genitals mutilated . Despite over 500 witness statements and a £20,000 reward, no trace of the killer has been found. Police believe the crime was committed by vigilantes or thieves.
January 2009	Sean Finnan	Liverpool	22-year-old Finnan was struck with a metal bar and stabbed after encountering a gang in Barons Hey, Stockbridge Village, on 5 January 2009. He died four days later. Finnan had gone to the area to try to recover a stolen bicycle belonging to his brother.
January 2009	Molly Morgan	Harrow, London	Morgan, 81, had her handbag snatched from her as she walked along Streatfield Road, Harrow, on 15 January 2009. She fell during the attack and hit her head, and died in hospital the following day. Her handbag had contained nothing of any value. Four men were arrested but released without charge. On the 10th anniversary of Morgan's death, a £20,000 reward for information was offered.
January 2009	Ryan Quinn	Portrush, County Antrim	Quinn, 14, was assaulted then chased onto a railway line by a group of teenagers after an argument on 30 January 2009. His hand became trapped in a cattle grid near Dhu Varren and he was hit by a train. Two suspects were named in a police file, but police said there was not enough evidence to charge either of them.
February 2009	David Currier	Bromsgrove, Worcestershire	An intruder who probably entered 35-year-old Currier's house with accomplices killed him there in the early hours of 7 February by stabbing him in the leg. The victim's six-year-old son was also in the house.
February 2009	Rhys Davies	Cardiff	17-year-old Davies was involved in an altercation while shopping with a friend on St Mary Street, Cardiff, on 13 February 2009 at 6.40 pm. He suffered head injuries and died the following day. Four men were arrested for Davies's murder but released without charge because of lack of evidence.
February 2009	Larry Safie	East Dulwich, London	Safie, 25, was shot once in the back of the head whilst walking along Barry Road, where he lived. A man tried at the Old Bailey in 2011 for his murder and the October 2008 killing of 24-year-old Errol Davis was acquitted of these crimes but jailed for another shooting.
March 2009	AbdulKarim Boudiaf	Tottenham, London	Boudiaf, 18, had plans to study law at the University of Northampton when he was shot on Broadwater Road, close to the Elmhurst Hotel in Tottenham, at 10 pm on 14 March 2009. A man stood trial for murder and two people were also tried for assisting an offender, but all three were acquitted in November 2009. In 2017, Boudiaf's family called for the case to be re-investigated with the support of the MP for Tottenham, David Lammy. He stated that the case had "echoes" of the Stephen Lawrence case.
March 2009	Claudia Lawrence	Body not found	Although Lawrence's body has not been found, North Yorkshire Police are treating her disappearance as suspected murder. She was 35 years old when she was last seen on 18 March 2009 after her day's work as a chef at the University of York. Lawrence sent a text message to a friend at 8.23 pm and was reported missing when she failed to arrive for work the following day. In the years since Lawrence's disappearance, nine people have been arrested or interviewed under caution over it.
April 2009	Damian Clough	Keighley, West Yorkshire	Twelve-year-old Clough died in a fire at his home at Kinara Close, Stockbridge, Keighley, on 4 April. A group of people visited the house that evening and two fires were started shortly before 10 pm. Two teenagers stood trial for Clough's manslaughter in 2010 but were found not guilty.
April 2009	David Weaver	Birmingham	45-year-old Weaver was battered at a murdered man's wake at a pub in Erdington on 22 November 2008 after stepping in to try to calm things down when a fight had started. He died on 26 April 2009 in hospital.
June 2009	David Cox	Doncaster, South Yorkshire	Cox, 18, died after being punched in the head during an altercation with a group of youths in Bessacarr, Doncaster, on 1 June 2009. He had tried to join in with a football game but was insulted and then fatally assaulted. Cox was autistic and had dyspraxia.
June 2009	Anthony Otton	Fulham, London	Otton, aged 28, was killed by a single bullet to the heart as he left Geranium House, Fulham Court, London, on 4 June 2009 – the day of the wake for Darcy Austin-Bruce, who was gunned down outside Wandsworth Prison on 1 May 2009. Police believed Otton was the victim of a revenge shooting and offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to a prosecution.
July 2009	James Kamara	Sheffield	Kamara was a 22-year-old who died on 1 July after bullets fired from a passing vehicle hit him and others while he was sitting in a car. It is believed that the killing was gang-related but that he was not the intended target. Four men were found not guilty of involvement in the crime.
July 2009	Nathan Williams	Attacked in New Cross, London, died in hospital	University student Williams, 24, was shot in his car in Ludwick Mews after driving there to pick up his girlfriend on 28 July 2009.
August 2009	Marek Pudlowski	Bognor Regis, West Sussex	Pudlowski, aged 51 and originally from Poland, was found dead on a bench near the seaside town's pier on 3 August. Though the post mortem could not determine exactly how he had died, it did reveal that he had suffered an extensive assault immediately prior to his death. Pudlowski had seemed anxious when he was in a Bognor bank on the day he was killed.
August 2009	Richard Clarke	Attacked in Eye, Suffolk, died at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital	A couple walking past the retired thatcher's home during the evening of 21 August 2009 noticed a man (assumed to have been Clarke) in the driveway clutching the back of his head. The following morning, another passer-by saw Clarke collapsed in the same place. He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later. A forensic pathologist who examined the 73-year-old's body believed he had been dragged to the ground and punched not long before the initial sighting, and police appealed for anyone with information about the assault to get in contact.
August 2009	Paula Hounslea	Fazakerley, Liverpool	Hounslea's body was found in a former fire pit next to the loop line cycle path in Fazakerley, Liverpool, on 5 May 2012 by a dog walker. She had been missing since 22 August 2009, and her body was identified using her medical and dental records.
August 2009	Safrajur Jahangir	Sheffield	On 28 August 2009, 23-year-old takeaway owner Jahangir was lured to where he was shot dead – Scraith Wood Drive in the Shirecliffe district – by someone pretending they wanted a curry delivered there. Six men were charged with conspiracy to murder, but their trial in 2010 was discontinued following the revelation that South Yorkshire Police had withheld vital information from the defence. A man thought to have been the actual hitman fatally overdosed on heroin before the police had enough evidence to charge him.
September 2009	Larry Malone	West Norwood, London	Malone, 24, was shot dead through a window while sitting on a sofa in his aunt's home on 3 September 2009. The crime was allegedly to do with drugs. Although two men were acquitted of this murder in late 2011, they and three other people did receive sentences for possession of a submachine gun used in the act.
October 2009	Oktay Erbasli	Attacked in Tottenham, London, died in hospital	23-year-old Erbasli was shot in his car when a motorcycle pulled up to it on 2 October 2009. His girlfriend and her five-year-old son were in the car as well but were unharmed. Erbasli, who ran the local Pound Stop Shop, was thought to have been involved with a gang known as the Tottenham Boys, and it was believed that his murder – one in an apparent string of tit-for-tat crimes – was connected to the rival Bombacilar gang.
October 2009	Alan Wood	Lound, Lincolnshire	On 24 October 2009, three days after he was last seen alive, 50-year-old Wood was found dead in his home, tortured – possibly for financial details – and with head wounds and a slit throat. A £60,000 reward, televised appeals and the recovery of a suspect's DNA have not resulted in a prosecution. Lincolnshire Police was pursuing fresh leads in December 2019 after an appeal in October of that year.
November 2009	Daniel Duke	Attacked in Walworth, London, died in hospital	Duke, a 22-year-old described as a small-time drug dealer, died on 3 November 2009 after being shot in Alberta Street the day before. A silver Ford Mondeo matching a car seen at the scene was found burnt out in south London's Peckham district. Three men were cleared of murder at the Old Bailey, but one of them was jailed for possession of the murder weapon. He claimed that police discovered it during a search of his home because it was being hidden at the request of an unknown man.
December 2009	Philip Silvester	Kidbrooke, London	Police found Silvester dead from head and chest injuries in his home on Kellaway Road on 13 December 2009. The 62-year-old had not been seen since his visit to a nearby shop 11 days earlier.
December 2009	Grzegorz Witkowski	Body not found	Witkowski was a Polish resident of Leicester who, at age 48, vanished after leaving a party in the city at around 10.30 pm on 12 December 2009 and speaking a little while later to family in Poland. His case has been classed as one of murder since 2012.

Murder was not suspected until the undertakers discovered a knife in Denis's back when they moved his body. A woman was charged with his murder but the charge was dropped in March 2010.
January 2010	Mohamed Abdul Kadir	Liverpool	19-year-old Kadir died in hospital three days after suffering a head injury during a street attack in Toxteth – an attack that took place on 26 January. A local person was withholding information that would help find the killer(s), police believed.
March 2010	Donavan Van Lill	Body not found	Van Lill, a 29-year-old fitness instructor who lived and worked in the Wiltshire town of Chippenham, went missing on 3 March 2010. A 41-year-old swimming instructor who worked with him at a leisure centre was charged with his murder later that month. It was alleged at trial that he began plotting to kill Van Lill after they fell out whilst on holiday in Van Lill's native South Africa in 2006, with the prosecution also drawing attention to a list found at the defendant's home of methods to kill and ways to get rid of evidence and the body following a killing – a list he maintained was just fantasy and not something he intended to put into practice. The defence in turn drew attention to the failure of forensic scientists to link him to Van Lill's disappearance, and after more than 12 hours of deliberation, the jury cleared him.
March 2010	Nigel Price	Southampton	Price lapsed into a semi-coma following a beating he had suffered on Southampton Common on 13/14 November 2009, and died on 23 March 2010. Police were not sure whether the attack on the 58-year-old was homophobic.
April 2010	Errol McKenzie	Leyton, London	McKenzie, 37, was shot on 11 April in a playing field off Seymour Road after returning to Leyton from a work-related visit to Tottenham. Police did not establish a motive.
April 2010	Niamh and Cayden Adams	Buxton, Derbyshire	Five-year-old Niamh and two-year-old Cayden died in a house fire at night on 23 April 2010. Police suspected the fire was started by their mother, who escaped it by jumping from an upstairs window with her third child, and she was charged. She was later cleared at Nottingham Crown Court of causing the children's deaths, as well as arson and inflicting grievous bodily harm. After the verdicts, Derbyshire Constabulary said it would set up an independent review team.
April 2010	Barry Rubery	Iron Acton, near Bristol	Rubery, a grandfather aged 68, was restrained with cable ties before being bludgeoned to death in his cottage on 28 April. Various items were taken from his home by the killers, including a gold Masonic pocket watch, a Makita drill and a Nokia 3310 mobile phone.
April 2010	Nicky Ayers	Liverpool	Ayers, a 46-year-old who managed a football team called Western Approaches, was shot on 29 April 2010 in the West Derby area's South Cantril Avenue. He was known to the police and had been in prison for his part in a plot to have the drug MDMA supplied in Jersey. It has been claimed that Ayers's murder and that of Karl Bradley in March 2013 were ordered by the same drug boss.
May 2010	Daniel Smith	Maida Vale, London	Smith, 22, was shot on 22 May 2010 as he left a takeaway on Harrow Road. The killing of the electrician was thought to have been a case of mistaken identity. Two years later a jury cleared three people of Smith's murder.
June 2010	James Davies	Norwich, Norfolk	25-year-old care worker Davies was stabbed in the heart, thigh and buttocks on 3 June 2010 after travelling from London with three other people to take property from one of the occupants of a house on Old Palace Road. Seven people have been arrested but nobody has been charged in connection with the fatal attack.
June 2010	Paul Pike	Liverpool	Pike, 23, was killed and his girlfriend suffered minor injuries when his van was hit by bullets on Saturday, 5 June after stopping at traffic lights on Crosby Road North. No motive for the shooting is known.
July 2010	Wayne Powell	Attacked in Chingford, London, died in hospital	Powell, a 39-year-old DJ, was shot four times after getting out of his car on Higham Station Avenue on 5 July 2010. The gunman walked away calmly following the shooting.
September 2010	Ricardo Cunha	West Norwood, London	23-year-old Cunha heard a knock on the front door of his block of flats after sitting down to watch TV with his girlfriend on 11 September, and leaned out of a window to investigate. A bullet fired by someone outside then hit him in the head and killed him, but police believe it was meant for another person.
September 2010	Imran Farooq	Edgware, London	Farooq died outside his home in Green Lane, Edgware, north London, on 16 September from multiple stab wounds and head injuries. The 50-year-old exile was a high-ranking member of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, a political group that had its origins in his native Pakistan as an opposition party, and his murder was believed to have been politically motivated.
September 2010	Colin Hughes	Liverpool	Hughes, a 42-year-old chef, was stabbed in the chest in the garden of his Old Swan home on 21 September 2010 after going outside to investigate because the back door glass had been smashed. A man seen in a nearby alley shortly before the nighttime incident has not been traced and was described as being slim, white, and about 5 feet 10 inches (1.78 m) tall.
October 2010	Manzoor Begum	Bradford, West Yorkshire	80-year-old Begum was found dead at her home on Salt Street, Bradford, on 10 October 2010. Her husband, 78-year-old Ali Mohammed Sher, was found injured at the scene and said that he might have killed her during an argument but could not be sure. Begum had been hit with a rolling pin and died from a combination of cardiac arrest and blows to her head. Sher was not well enough to be interviewed by police and died nine months later.
19 October 2010	Edith Stuart	Attacked in Cleveleys, died in hospital in Blackpool (both in Lancashire)	Stuart, 96, died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital the day after the care home bed in which she was sleeping was set fire to.
November 2010	Andrew Crawford	Leeds	44-year-old Crawford was involved in an altercation after a Motörhead concert in Leeds on 25 November 2010. During the argument, Crawford and his cousin were punched to the ground and Crawford died the following day from blunt force trauma injuries to the head. An inquest into his death the following year found that no one was likely to be charged with his murder as it could not be known who had struck the fatal blow.
December 2010	Wayne Bassnett	Attacked in Hale, Cheshire, died in hospital	Bassnett, 30, was shot dead on 22 December 2010, and a man was acquitted of the act in March 2013. Police believe another man to have been involved in the shooting in some way, but his whereabouts are unknown. Bassnett had been arrested over the January 2002 disappearance of Lyndon Nowell.
January 2011	Eddie Pybis	Liverpool	20-year-old Pybis was shot on 3 January 2011 whilst in the passenger seat of a Volvo being driven through Anfield. He is believed to have also been the front seat passenger of a silver Ford Focus when there was an altercation in Larkhill Close involving the people in the Focus and another car earlier in the day.
January 2011	Joseph Cummins	Liverpool	Cummins, 25, was shot in the back in Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, on 20 January 2011. The case was dubbed "murder in the mist" by police because of foggy conditions, and a £20,000 reward was on offer for information that led to a conviction.
February 2011	Samuel Guidera	Attacked in Sydenham, London, died in hospital	Guidera, a 24-year-old university student, was stabbed in the heart and had his wallet stolen after getting off a train at Penge East railway station on 12 February 2011. Minutes before he was found injured near the station, his mobile phone had been used to dial an inactive and unregistered number.
February 2011	Lee Duncan	Lauriston Place, Edinburgh	31-year-old Duncan's body was discovered on 25 February in his flat near Edinburgh city centre. He had been bludgeoned to death with a hammer. His neighbour was tried for the murder but found not guilty.
April 2011	Damian Chlywka	Warlingham, Surrey	Two gardeners found the body of a man wrapped in tarpaulin in a garden well at Audley Drive, Warlingham, on 15 November 2013. The body was later identified as that of Chlywka, 32, who was last seen alive at his home in Thornton Heath on 17 April 2011. Although the cause of death could not be ascertained, it was clear that Chlywka suffered a brutal assault and died about two-and-a-half years previously. The crime featured on Crimewatch in February 2014 and several men have been arrested and released without charge.
May 2011	Scott Fletcher	Body not found	Police suspicions that the missing Hartlepool man was unlawfully killed, and that it may have been because he owed money, caused a murder inquiry to be launched in 2015 – a year that saw five men arrested in connection with the inquiry and then released without charge. Two more were arrested and bailed in 2016. 27-year-old Fletcher was last seen on 11 May 2011 near a garage at Wheatley Hill in County Durham.
June 2011	David Gower	Bulkington, Warwickshire	Gower, 37, was shot and stabbed on Sunday, 26 June at the home of a friend. Nine men stood trial over Gower's murder, but the judge ordered the acquittal of them all after a claim had been made that the friend in question – a key prosecution witness – had fired a gun prior to escaping from his property and Gower's assailants. The murder was alleged to have happened because Gower had got in the way of an attack planned on his friend for revenge.
July 2011	Karoly Varga	Wellingborough, Northamptonshire	Varga was beaten to death with a small axe or similar at his Cannon Street home in late July. He was 76 and had moved to England from his native country of Hungary during the 1950s. A friend of Varga was charged with murder before having the case against him withdrawn.
August 2011	Stuart Horsman	Winchester, Hampshire	Homeless Horsman, 34, died on 3 August a few hours after becoming unwell at Winchester railway station. Because of internal injuries discovered following his admittance to hospital, police think his death was a consequence of an attack suffered up to several days earlier.
9 August 2011	Trevor Ellis	Attacked in Croydon, London, died in hospital	26-year-old Ellis was shot in the head shortly after he and friends got caught up in a car chase with a group of looters during the 2011 riots in London.
August 2011	Alisa Dmitrijeva	Anmer, Norfolk	The 17-year-old Latvian from Wisbech in Cambridgeshire disappeared on 31 August 2011 after she was spotted in a car with two men in King's Lynn, Norfolk. Her body was found on the Sandringham Estate on 1 January 2012, but the cause of her death could not be determined. Police have not charged anyone with Dmitrijeva's murder but did make two arrests over it in 2012.
September 2011	Isobel Dobson	Hessle, West Yorkshire	Two-year-old Dobson died in a fire at Hessle Farm, Hessle, a hamlet near Wakefield, on 30 September 2011. A barn had been deliberately set on fire, with the fire then spreading to a van which Dobson and her half-sister were in. The other girl was rescued from the blaze. The inquest into Dobson's death found that her stepfather could have started the fire; he had already been arrested over it but the Crown Prosecution Service had decided not to proceed.
October 2011	Akilakumar Kanthasamy	Mitcham, London	Kanthasamy, 28, was stabbed in the heart on 22 October 2011 during a fight in the car park of a community centre where a party was being held. Guests had been having money demanded off them at knifepoint by a group of people outside the building, witnesses later said. A man charged with murder claimed to have run away from the community centre before the stabbing and was cleared because of that and because there was not much scientific evidence to connect him to the offence.
December 2011	Justin Hague	Rotherham, South Yorkshire	40-year-old Hague was stabbed in Godric Drive, Brinsworth, Rotherham, on 3 December 2011. By the end of February 2012, two men had been arrested on suspicion of murder and released pending further inquiries, and four people – including Hague's 19-year-old son – had appeared in court on charges of aggravated burglary.
December 2011	John Lee Barrett	Attacked in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, died in hospital	Barrett, 31, was punched, kicked and stabbed in a nightclub on Christmas Day in a brawl sparked by him bumping into someone there. He died from the stab wound on 27 December. Twelve men were convicted of offences to do with the brawl, but it is not known who killed Barrett. In 2015, one of the convicted men himself died after being stabbed at a nightclub.
December 2011	Richard Williams	Birmingham	Williams, a homeless 58-year-old, was fatally beaten at a bus stop in Dudley Road on 30 December 2011. The trial of a 35-year-old Russian man alleged to have been the perpetrator was halted when the prosecution offered no evidence against him.
January 2012	Adrian Milner	Attacked in Sittingbourne, Kent, died in hospital in London	Father-of-two Milner, 48, was punched as he walked along Church Road, Murston, Sittingbourne, just before 8 pm on 28 December 2011. The attack was unprovoked; Milner hit his head on the pavement and died in hospital 12 days later.
February 2012	Earl Warburton	Lewisham, London	59-year-old Warburton was dragged into his bathroom and killed by a combination of compression to the neck and blows to the head after four men entered his flat on Loampit Hill in the early hours of 15 February 2012. The flat was used as a brothel, and four female sex workers who were in it at the time were ordered to lie down and not look at the killers, who ransacked whilst there too and demanded to know where the money was kept as they searched.
March 2012	Tafadzwa "Taffy" Khan	Bawburgh, near Norwich, Norfolk	Khan, 25, was stabbed to death on 18 March at a party at former boxing champion Herbie Hide's mansion. A 20-year-old man was charged with murder, but in April 2013 the charge was dropped.
May 2012	Emma Winnall	Birmingham	93-year-old Winnall was attacked in her bed at her home in Moseley on 30 April or 1 May 2012. She died in hospital from her injuries on 29 May. No motive could be established, and police said the attacker had entered with a key.
June 2012	Marvin Hogan	London	Hogan, 28, was stabbed in the heart in Leyton during an attempt to stop one of a group of three men taking his keys. A passer-by put his rucksack under Hogan's head following the stabbing and stayed with him until emergency services arrived, but he died in the Royal London Hospital in the early hours of 5 June.
June 2012	Joey Thompson	Liverpool	32-year-old Thompson, a senior member of the Strand Gang, was shot dead on 14 June in Ravensthorpe Green, a street in the district of Norris Green. Police wanted to speak to whoever was in a dark Citroen C4 seen driving through the district at around the time of the incident. Thompson was a suspect in the unsolved murder of Danny McDonald, a man from a rival gang who was killed in a pub shooting on New Year's Day 2004.
July 2012	Tom Kirwan	Wolverhampton, West Midlands	Kirwan was stabbed in the back and through the heart on 8 July 2012 during a brawl outside a Wolverhampton nightclub. Five people were later jailed for affray, but who was behind the 23-year-old's death is still a mystery.
July 2012	Pamela Wheeler	Thamesmead, London	76-year-old Wheeler was found dead at her home on Newacres Road, Thamesmead, in July 2012. She is last known to have been seen on 9 July and was attacked in an apparent robbery. Wheeler's wrists and ankles were bound and she died from suffocation and a head injury.
September 2012	Kyle Sheehan	Birmingham	16-year-old Sheehan died a week after an incident on 21 September in which he was stabbed in the leg in a park in Birmingham's Bartley Green district.
October 2012	Sabah Usmani, Hira Shakoor, Sohaib Shakoor, Muneeb Shakoor, Rayyan Shakoor, Maheen Shakoor	Harlow, Essex	Usmani, 44, and her five children (Hira, 12, Sohaib, 11, Muneeb, 9, Rayyan, 6, and Maheen, 3) died in an arson attack at their home in Barn Mead, Harlow, in the early hours of 15 October 2012. Usmani's husband, Abdul Shakoor, managed to escape and raise the alarm, but the fire spread too quickly for anyone else to survive. A car in the road was set on fire at the same time. An appeal for information in 2017 did not yield any new leads.
2 December 2012	Jamie Starkey	Liverpool	21-year-old Starkey was fatally shot outside his house in Fazakerley just after telling his seven-year-old sister that he was going to help her decorate a Christmas tree the next day. Starkey had non-fatally shot a drug dealer in 2008.
16 December 2012	John Roberts	Winlaton, Tyne and Wear	John "The Badge" Roberts, a father of one, was well known for selling pin badges on Newcastle United match days. On 16 December two police officers passing his home on Park Terrace, Winlaton, noticed that his front door had been left open, and found the 32-year-old dead inside with serious head injuries. Six people were arrested over his murder during the course of 2013, but all were released without charge.
17 December 2012	David "Les" Ross	Corby, Northamptonshire	Ross, a 39-year-old nightclub partner and doorman who also worked as a taxi driver, choked to death on his own vomit in his hotel room after being badly beaten there in the early hours. A prime suspect twice apprehended in connection with his murder was killed in a road traffic collision in 2020.
30 December 2012	Kyle Vaughan	Body not found	24-year-old Vaughan, from Newbridge, Caerphilly, was last seen on 30 December 2012. Later that night, his silver Peugeot 306 car was found on the A467 between Risca and Crosskeys; it is not known if he was driving it at that time. Gwent Police was soon treating Vaughan's disappearance as murder and arrested eight people in connection with his disappearance, including two on suspicion of murder, but all were later released without charge. In 2023 Crimestoppers increased its reward to £20,000, for information which leads to finding out what happened to Vaughan. The same year, Gwent Police renewed its appeal for information and confirmed that its investigation into Vaughan's case "remains very much active".
January 2013	Robert Duff	Body not found	37-year-old Duff was last seen at a flat in Bredgar Road, Archway, north London, on 12 January 2013. He failed to turn up for his daughter's 18th birthday party that evening and police believe he was killed in a fight. Two men were arrested on suspicion of his murder in May 2018 but were released. In November 2020, police divers searched the Highgate No. 1 Pond on Hampstead Heath in response to new information.
January 2013	Una Crown	Wisbech, Cambridgeshire	Crown, 86 and a widow, was murdered on 12 January in her bungalow in Magazine Lane. She was stabbed and set on fire, and was robbed of her wedding ring and front door key. At least one suspect was arrested but nobody was ever charged. A 69-year-old man from Magazine Close, a road adjoining Magazine Lane, was charged with Crown's murder in April 2024 and is due to stand trial in January 2025.
February 2013	Joseph Burke-Monerville	Attacked in Clapton, London, died in hospital	Burke-Monerville, 19, was shot as he sat in the back of a car in Hindrey Road, Clapton, on 16 February 2013. Three men stood trial for his murder but were acquitted in 2015. Burke-Monerville's brother Trevor was murdered in 1994 and nobody has been convicted of that killing either. Another brother, David, was murdered in June 2019.
March 2013	Karl Bradley	Liverpool	31-year-old Karl Bradley, brother of underworld figure Kirk Bradley, was discovered dead with gunshot wounds in Penshaw Close, West Derby, on 22 March 2013. It has been claimed that this murder and that of Nicky Ayers in April 2010 were ordered by the same drug boss.
April 2013	Paul Foster	Luton, Bedfordshire	46-year-old Foster was shot on the Lewsey Farm estate on 9 April 2013. Some of his friends and acquaintances were involved with the criminal world, and it seemed that the incident – one of 27 shootings in Luton over a period of a year – was part of a feud between people from that world.
April 2013	Samuel Harry	Attacked in Bromham, Bedfordshire, died in hospital	19-month-old Harry died at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, on 22 April after suffering a bleed on his brain. The inquest into his death found that his injuries were caused by a 'substantial blow' to the head and the coroner stated that he was unlawfully killed. Harry's mother and her partner gave conflicting accounts of what happened and the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute.
18 May 2013	Xhem Krasniqi	Attacked in Hove, East Sussex, died in hospital in Brighton	Kransniqi, 31, was walking with his brother and nephew in Church Road, Hove, when the trio were shot at. Kransniqi died and the other two narrowly avoided injury. A 32-year-old man was cleared of murder, two attempted murders, and possessing a gun illegally at a February 2014 trial.
June 2013	Vasilijs Ransevs	Lincoln	A friend found the body of the 33-year-old Latvian in his flat on 16 June 2013. He had suffered head injuries and arrests soon took place, but no charges followed any of them.
July 2013	James Baillie	Attacked in Hamilton, died in hospital in East Kilbride (both in South Lanarkshire)	41-year-old Baillie suffered a fatal head injury and his 64-year-old mother suffered non-fatal arm, head and facial injuries after they got involved in a row with a group of people in Buchanan Crescent, Hamilton, on 23 July 2013. Baillie died three days later, and the following summer a former featherweight boxing champion was acquitted of his murder and the mother's attempted murder.
September 2013	Adeyemi Olugbuyi	Northampton	Olugbuyi's skeletal remains were found in January 2016 in undergrowth not far from where witnesses said they had seen one of a group of men stab him on 13 September 2013. Four men arrested over the murder of the 31-year-old drug dealer were all released.
September 2013	Kyle McDonald	Battersea, London	McDonald, 19, staggered to Coppock Close and died there on 18 September after being shot outside a primary school a few roads away. A plumber was charged after CCTV captured his van in the area, but the Old Bailey cleared him of the offence.
November 2013	Ismail Essa	Park Royal, London	33-year-old Essa was stabbed to death on 3 November 2013 whilst embroiled in a disturbance outside a café on Gorst Road. In July 2014 a man who slashed another's face during the disturbance was cleared of murder but found guilty of violent disorder and wounding with intent.
December 2013	Antonio Rodney-Cole	Attacked in Stoke Newington, London, died in hospital	Rodney-Cole, 22, was stabbed three times in his leg on 4 December 2013. After the attack, he tried to drive away from the scene but collapsed at the wheel of his car in Marton Road, Stoke Newington. A number of people were arrested and released.
December 2013	Rowan Thomas-Williams	London	20-year-old Thomas-Williams was shot at a party in Mulberry Court, Elgar Avenue, Neasden, in the early hours of 6 December 2013, and died after being taken to hospital by friends. A £20,000 reward was offered for information leading to a conviction.
February 2014	Angela Millington	Foulness Island, Essex	Of no fixed abode when she disappeared in early February 2014 at the age of 33, Millington's skeletal remains were discovered washed up on Foulness Island in June of that year. Though a cause of death could not be determined, foul play was apparent from indications that a tape mask found close to the remains had been attached to her face.
February 2014	Mashboor Hussain	Tooting, London	Hussain, 73, died after two men forced their way into his home on Selkirk Road, Tooting, at 11.45 am on 11 February 2014. One of the men was armed with a gun and Hussain collapsed after a scuffle. Although he had coronary heart disease, Hussain's death was attributed to the break-in and his case was treated as murder.
June 2014	Floarea Nicolae	Attacked in Edmonton, London, died in hospital	20-year-old Nicolae was stabbed on Grove Street, Edmonton, shortly before midnight on 1 June 2014, and died at a hospital in east London. A woman stood trial for her murder but was acquitted in December 2018.
June 2014	Robert Hutchinson	Body not found	56-year-old Hutchinson vanished within a day of driving away from his Sunderland home on 23 June, and detectives are treating his disappearance as murder even though his body is yet to be discovered. His blue Nissan Micra was found in Stewart Street in the city.
August 2014	Aqeel Khan	Watford, Hertfordshire	18-year-old Khan was stabbed in Croxley View on Friday, 22 August. Luton Crown Court was told that Khan and another youth fought after a group led by Khan chased him. A 17-year-old alleged to have been the other youth denied being in Croxley View when the murder was committed and was acquitted.
October 2014	Pragaret "Charlie" Singh	Manchester	Singh, 35, was shot outside his food business in Openshaw on 31 October, and around £28,000 in takings was stolen. Investigators believed that the culprit was being shielded by a "small group of people".
November 2014	Dale Gordon	Manchester	Gordon was fatally beaten in Netherbury Close, Gorton on Saturday 15 November after being seen there with two men. He was a 20-year-old singer and rapper whose stage name was Deezy and he had auditioned for The X Factor.
December 2014	Luke Jackson	Pimlico, London	Jackson, 33, was stabbed to death at his mother's flat in Pimlico on 19 December 2014. A number of people have been arrested and released without charge.
February 2015	Redwan El-Ghaidouni	Uxbridge, London	38-year-old El-Ghaidouni was shot in his car on the driveway of his home in Vine Lane on the evening of 3 February. CCTV filmed a suspect near the property that day, as well as on numerous occasions in the days leading up to it during what are thought to have been the same gunman's failed earlier missions. El-Ghaidouni had been released from jail the previous July after being sentenced in relation to the importation and possession of cannabis.
February 2015	Kevin Wilson	Liverpool	17-year-old Wilson was shot in the back at 8.30 pm on 7 February 2015. The incident took place at the junction of Smithdown Road and Holmes Street in Wavertree, and he died later at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Thirteen people have been arrested in connection with Wilson's death but police say the investigation is still ongoing. A new appeal for information was made on the fifth anniversary of his death.
February 2015	Terry Isaacs	Attacked in Tulse Hill, London, died in hospital	Isaacs, 56, was found in Bannister Close, Tulse Hill, with serious head injuries on 19 February 2015, and died five days later. Two mobile phones, his wallet, and his tobacco tin had been stolen.
April 2015	Martin Hamilton	West Lothian	When Hamilton's skull and parts of his spine were discovered in remote woodland on 17 December 2015, he had not been seen since 16 April. A man in custody awaiting trial to face allegations of shooting the 53-year-old violent career criminal before inflicting sharp and blunt-force injuries to his head, was released in March 2017 after being found to have terminal cancer. Glasgow's district of Blackhill had been one of Hamilton's main areas of operation prior to his 1992 imprisonment and subsequent relocation to Edinburgh.
April 2015	Ola Raji	Peckham, London	20-year-old Raji was shot and stabbed by two men who confronted him as he cycled onto the East Surrey Grove Estate, Commercial Way, Peckham, on 21 April 2015. There have been arrests but no one has been charged with his murder.
April 2015	Luiri "Laura" El-Hagrasi	Body not found	El-Hagrasi, originally from Latvia, disappeared after going to Heathrow Airport with family members on 22 April 2015 to catch a plane. Though it is still not known precisely why the 33-year-old failed to board the aircraft or what has become of her, Kent Police have nonetheless added her name to their list of victims of murders that have not been solved. El-Hagrasi was living in the Cliftonville area of Margate when she went missing.
June 2015	Lukey Maxwell	Tottenham, London	Maxwell, 22, was stabbed in the back in a road known as Northumberland Park and then discovered there shortly after midnight on 5 June 2015. Police charged a man with murder two days later, but prosecutors did not find the case against him sufficient to commit him to trial.
June 2015	Christian Bagley	Hereford	30-year-old Bagley was walking under a bridge when someone stabbed him to death on 21 June 2015. West Mercia Police made four arrests relating to his murder but has not charged anyone over it.
June 2015	John Palmer	South Weald, Essex	John "Goldfinger" Palmer, 64, was reputed to be one of Britain's richest criminals. He was shot six times at close range in the garden of his home on 24 June 2015. Police believe his murder was a contract killing and a reward of £100,000 was offered.
July 2015	Erdogan Guzel	Wood Green, London	42-year-old Guzel was one of three people shot as he sat outside his bakery on Lordship Lane on 10 July 2015, but the other two survived. The shots were fired from a black Honda Civic with a fake registration number.
August 2015	Albert Williams	Southend, Essex	On 8 August 2015, 67-year-old Williams was stamped on and strangled in his flat by one or more burglars who stole approximately £10,000 before burning his body. It came just seven days after a previous burglary there during which he was assaulted. Two men in their 40s were tried for both burglaries and attacks but found guilty of the earlier ones only, for which they were each sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. Another man in his 40s has also been a suspect in the second burglary and fatal assault, but was never charged with either offence.
August 2015	Marvin Couson	Attacked in Shoreditch, London, died 13 years later	Couson was 26 when he was shot outside the Lime Bar in Shoreditch on 12 May 2002. His injuries left him paralysed and unable to communicate and were the cause of his death on 8 August 2015. Police arrested a man in May 2019.
September 2015	Tadas Jarusevicius	Plumstead, London	29-year-old Jarusevicius was found dead beneath a bridge in Plumstead High Street on 23 September 2015. He had been living there with a group of people, and died from blunt-force trauma to the head and neck. Several people have been arrested and released without charge.
September 2015	David Brickwood	Northampton	74-year-old Brickwood was fatally stabbed in his house during a burglary on 26 September 2015. In April 2021, a judge told a jury at the trial of a 27-year-old man on trial for murder and burglary that because his DNA at the murder scene could have been due to secondary transfer, they were to acquit him of each crime.
November 2015	Ladimeji Benson	Chelmsford, Essex	27-year-old Benson, a Colchester resident who owned a trainer shop in Southend, died in hospital after he was stabbed in Chelmsford city centre when he got into an argument. Although at least three arrests have since been made in connection with his murder, police have yet to charge anybody with it.
November 2015	Clocaenog Forest Man	Clocaenog Forest, Wales	On the evening of 14 November 2015, two brothers out camping in woodland found part of the skull of a man who had lain dead for up to 20 years. Detectives believe he died after being struck on the head at another location and was then taken to the woods between 1995 and 2005.
December 2015	Mumtaz Member	Leicester	Member was a 56-year-old grandmother who died from head injuries on 12 December at her home in Holmfield Avenue, Stoneygate. Three people – the dead woman's sons and the wife of one of them – were charged with her murder, but the charges against them were all dropped. A new inquest was scheduled for July 2023.
January 2016	Harjit Singh Dulai	Hayes, London	Dulai, 44, was stabbed in the chest near a tennis court in Rosedale Park, Hayes, on 27 January 2016. A 16-year-old boy stood trial for Dulai's murder but was acquitted in July 2017. Several other people have been arrested and released without charge.
February 2016	Tommy Ward	Rotherham, South Yorkshire	80-year-old Ward, a retired miner, suffered a severe beating at his Maltby home on 1 October 2015 and died on 23 February 2016 in Rotherham Hospital. His life savings of £30,000 were stolen. Several people have been arrested but without any charges.
March 2016	Junior Nelson	Northolt, London	The remains of Nelson, 52, were found on an overgrown embankment on Rabournmead Drive, Northolt, on 13 March 2016. Nelson lived in Kilburn and was last seen the previous year on 17 August. Although the post-mortem results were inconclusive, police believe he died violently.
March 2016	Robyn Mercer	Molesey, Surrey	50-year-old Mercer was found bludgeoned to death outside her Walton Road home on 14 March 2016. Several people have been arrested over the antique dealer's death, but nobody has been convicted except her ex-partner for forging a will in her name.
26 April 2016	Unidentified	Forest Gate, London	The skeletal remains of a man were found in a disused factory. He died from blunt-force trauma to the skull, was aged between 29 and 35, and most likely came from the Indian subcontinent. He was murdered between 2003 and 2006. The remains were in a sleeping bag and partially wrapped in a bin bag. Blood matched to his DNA was found in a first-floor room in the factory, leading police to believe that was where the killing took place.
May 2016	Rukevwe Tadafe	Attacked in Bermondsey, died in hospital in another part of London	21-year-old Tadafe was stabbed during a fight on Trundley's Walk, Bermondsey, on 30 April 2016. A man stood trial for his murder later that year but was acquitted.
May 2016	Abdi Gutale	Leyton, London	Minicab driver Gutale, 24, was shot as he drove his Vauxhall Zafira at the junction of Melbourne Road and Capworth Street, Leyton, in the early hours of 14 May 2016. Five men were arrested but released without charge.
June 2016	Matthew Kitandwe	Battersea, London	18-year-old Kitandwe was stabbed outside his flat on Wayford Street, Battersea, at 4.16 pm on 21 June 2016. Kitandwe was a talented footballer and police found no evidence that he had criminal connections. Eight people have been arrested and released.
July 2016	Ricardo Hunter	Headley, Surrey	Hunter, 34, known as "Forty", was shot dead during a party at a house on Church Lane in the early hours of 25 July 2016. Hunter was from south London and was one of around 400 guests at the event. Three people have been arrested and released without charge, and a £10,000 reward has been offered.
August 2016	Andrew Oteng-Owusu	Attacked in New Cross, London, died in hospital	19-year-old Oteng-Owusu died from a single stab wound to his leg after an attack at the junction of Hornshay Street and Lovelinch Close on 3 August 2016. He returned to his home in Upnall House, Sharratt Street, where he was found by his mother. A reward of £20,000 was offered.
August 2016	Gary Weir	Glasgow	24-year-old Weir was stabbed in the heart during a fight between two groups of people in east Glasgow on 7 August 2016. Five men were cleared in late 2017 of his murder and the attempted murders of three men who were with him on the night he was killed.
August 2016	David Robinson	Archway, London	David "Dawood" Robinson was shot four times at Big House 101 recording studio on Sunnyside Road, Archway, on 20 August 2016. Despite there being witnesses to the shooting, no one has been prosecuted over it. In February 2018 at the inquest into Robinson's death, his mother confronted the man who she believed carried out the shooting.
October 2016	Kacper Latuszek	Walthamstow, London	Latuszek, 31, was found dead at a house on Forest Road, Walthamstow, on 8 October 2016. A post-mortem found that his death was caused by internal bleeding. Two men were arrested but released.
October 2016	Jodie Wilkinson	Newcastle	In Stanhope Street on the afternoon of 17 October there was an altercation involving a group including 27-year-old Jodie Wilkinson, allegedly including racial abuse. Tensions eased following this hostility, but were rekindled when a man who had earlier been barged into went back to the street to look for something he thought he had dropped. A number of people decided to attack him and his companions. A short while later, Wilkinson and another person in her group received stab wounds. The other victim survived but Wilkinson died in hospital, having phoned emergency services. A 43-year-old man tried in 2017 for her murder was acquitted of any wrongdoing, but four other men who had been in Stanhope Street when the stabbings took place were convicted of violent disorder.
October 2016	Blake Brown	Liverpool	Brown, a 30-year-old acquitted at the age of 19 of the November 2004 murder of Paul Mooney, was fatally shot near St Michaels railway station on 24 October 2016. One man was cleared of being involved in any plot to kill or hurt Brown, and two brothers each received a suspended sentence for perverting the course of justice in relation to murder.
October 2016	Ziggy Worrell-Owusu	London	19-year-old Worrell-Owusu was stabbed at an 18th birthday party at The Basement Shisha Lounge, Goodmayes Road, Ilford, in the early hours of 27 October 2016, and died in an east London hospital. Worrell-Owusu was reportedly trying to break up a fight when he was attacked. Three people were arrested and released without charge.
November 2016	James Owusu-Agyekum	Harlesden, London	Owusu-Agyekum, 22, was shot dead by two youths on bicycles who fired through his front door on 2 November 2016. The suspects fled to the nearby Stonebridge Estate after the attack, which police believe was a case of mistaken identity. A reward of £20,000 was offered.
November 2016	Michael Currer	Norwich, Norfolk	59-year-old Currer was found dead in his flat on 12 November. His body had multiple injuries, but no weapon appeared to have been used on him and there was no sign of forced entry. He had phoned the police on 9 November, but did not want them to come to his residence; when officers went there anyway, Currer refused them entry and told them to leave. In February 2017, Currer's on-off partner confessed to killing him and was arrested, but the Crown Prosecution Service found there was insufficient evidence to prosecute her. At the inquest into Currer's death, she denied killing him.
November 2016	Mohamed Kakay	Camberwell, London	33-year-old Kakay was stabbed in gardens at the back of St Giles' Church, Camberwell, at 9 am on 19 November 2016. He collapsed in Camberwell Church Street. He is believed to have been attacked by two people. Several suspects have been arrested but no one has been charged. Two years after Kakay's death a £20,000 reward was offered.
December 2016	Thomas Roberts	Glasgow	A 35-year-old man was tried for the murder of 43-year-old Roberts and an assault on a 50-year-old friend of his in the early hours of 25 December, but was found guilty only of the latter offence, with a verdict of not proven over the murder. The defendant claimed in court that he actually intervened to try to stop the murder and that Roberts's friend was the killer. Roberts's friend, however, maintained that the defendant alone was the assailant. The attack happened in a communal area of the district of Milton and much of it was witnessed by people living in flats overlooking the area.
January 2017	Thomas Baker	Liverpool	44-year-old Baker was shot in a car park after leaving the gym at the Stanley Meat Market on 27 January 2017. CCTV captured a car that the police think was being driven by the gunman as it headed away from there – a silver Volkswagen Polo also seen at other locations in the city.
February 2017	Aaron Lewis	Liverpool	Lewis, 26, was fatally shot outside the Anna Jungs chip shop on Grosvenor Road, Wavertree, on 1 February 2017. A friend who was with him was also shot in the attack but survived. Eight people were arrested and released without charge.
February 2017	Hang Yin Leung	Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire	64-year-old Hang was beaten by intruders who burgled her home in Orne Gardens, Bolbeck Par, on 31 January 2017. She died in hospital 11 days later. Four men were arrested, but there was insufficient evidence to charge anyone. The case was featured on the Channel 4 documentary Catching a Killer in May 2018.
February 2017	Jonathan "JJ" McPhillips	Attacked in Islington, London, died at the Royal London Hospital	McPhillips was stabbed in the chest on Upper Street, Islington, on 25 February 2017. CCTV footage showed a group of men armed with knives attacking another group, including McPhillips. A man stood trial for the murder in August 2018 but the case collapsed.
March 2017	Craig Kearney	East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire	Kearney, 24, was discovered fatally injured in the road on Sunday, 5 March after getting out of a taxi whose driver he had been arguing with. A murder charge against the taxi driver was found by a jury to be not proven. He had maintained that his vehicle had only clipped Kearney as he drove away from where he had dropped him and his girlfriend off, and not mown him down as the charge alleged. Kearney's girlfriend did not see anything as she had started to walk home without him.
March 2017	David Adegbite	Barking, London	18-year-old "Dutch" Adegbite was shot in the head as he cycled through an estate in St Ann's, Barking, on 19 March 2017. A number of men were arrested but no one has been charged in relation to Adegbite's murder.
March 2017	Malachi Brooks	Battersea, London	Brooks, 21, was attacked in the early hours of 28 March 2017 on Surrey Lane, Battersea. Four masked men pulled up in a vehicle and three of them attacked Brooks, who died from a stab wound to the heart. Three men were convicted of perverting the course of justice, but no one has been convicted of Brooks's murder. A £20,000 reward was offered on the second anniversary of his death.
April 2017	Ahmed Deen-Jah	Custom House, London	Deen-Jah, 21, was fatally stabbed on Freemason's Road, Custom House, on 2 April 2017. A black Mercedes car believed to have been involved in the crime was later found burnt out. Despite arrests, no one has been charged over Deen-Jah's death.
April 2017	Bjorn Brown	Croydon, London	23-year-old Brown was seen talking to two men on Bensham Lane, Croydon, on 29 March 2017. CCTV footage showed all three going into Kelling Gardens, where Brown was attacked with a knife. The two suspects then fled while fatally injured Brown tried to ride his bicycle to hospital, where he died six days later. Two years after his death, police offered a £20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of his killers.
April 2017	Karim Samms	North Woolwich, London	Samms, 16, died from a gunshot wound to the chest on Roebourne Way, North Woolwich, on the evening of 7 April 2017. CCTV revealed two suspects approaching a group of people which included Samms; they fled in a car after the shooting.
April 2017	Abdullah Hammia	Wandsworth, London	24-year-old Hammia was fatally stabbed during an altercation on Melody Road, Wandsworth, close to the junction with Allfarthing Lane, on 25 April 2017. Later the same year, two men were jailed for perverting the course of justice. Two men were charged with Hammia's murder but the charges were dropped.
May 2017	Mohanna Abdhou	Kilburn, London	Abdhou, known as Montana, was 20 years old when she was shot on the South Kilburn Estate on 26 May 2017. She was caught in gunfire from two masked men on bicycles and was hit by a bullet which ricocheted off a wall. Two men and a teenager stood trial for murder and manslaughter but were found not guilty in 2018.
May 2017	Jaymie Hall	Edinburgh	35-year-old Hall was fatally stabbed on 27 May 2017 at his flat in Wester Hailes. A friend of his was charged with and tried for the murder, although he was later acquitted on a not proven verdict. He claimed while on trial that another man was the killer, asserting that the other man, who died in late 2017, stabbed Hall following a physical confrontation. Allegedly the other man came off worse in the confrontation and that was his motive for the knife attack.
June 2017	Yusuf Sonko	Liverpool	18-year-old Sonko was shot in the head while he stood with a group of friends on Tagus Street, Toxteth, on 2 June 2017. The killer had approached the group on a bike and it is believed that Sonko was not the intended target. Nine people were questioned soon after the killing and in 2019 police released the name of an individual of interest. A £20,000 reward has been offered.
June 2017	Abdirahman Mohamed	Peckham, London	Mohamed died within half an hour of being stabbed in the chest at around 11 pm on 2 June 2017. The following January at the murder trial of two young men, it was alleged that the 17-year-old had been killed because he had made fun of one of the accused for having been arrested for possession of a samurai sword. The defendants were found not guilty. Later that year, one of those men was himself fatally stabbed, but the person who dealt the blow was cleared on the grounds of self-defence.
June 2017	Mahad Ali	Attacked in Park Royal, London, died in hospital	Ali, 18, was fatally stabbed on Coronation Road, Park Royal, on 29 June 2017. The case against a man charged with Ali's murder was dropped in January 2018.
August 2017	Joshua Bwalya	Barking, London	16-year-old Bwalya was fatally stabbed in Movers Lane, Barking, on 2 August 2017. He had attended a school leavers' party and was attacked by a group of youths on bicycles.
August 2017	Cafer Aslan	Edmonton, London	On 23 August 2017, 54-year-old Aslan was found with fatal gunshot injuries in a part of Westminster Road close to the junction with Bounces Road. His cousin Bulent Kabala was shot dead six months later, in February 2018. Police have described both murders as contract killings and offered a £20,000 reward.
September 2017	Corey Junior Davis	Attacked in Forest Gate, London, died in hospital	14-year-old Davis, known as CJ, died after a drive-by shooting in Moore Walk, Forest Gate, at 3.08 pm on 4 September 2017. His mother claimed that he was being groomed by a drugs gang. In August 2018, a serious case review found that Davis and his mother were failed by local agencies which could have protected them from gang culture.
September 2017	Jude Gayle	West Norwood, London	Gayle, 30, was fatally stabbed when he visited a shop in West Norwood on 24 September 2017 to buy a bottle of ketchup for lunch with his mother. Three men stood trial for his murder but were found not guilty.
September 2017	Unidentified male	Wimbledon, London	The skeletal remains of an unknown male were found in a shallow grave in the back garden of a house on Cowdrey Road on 28 September 2017. The man, wearing a shirt, a red silk tie, trousers, shoes and socks, had been killed by a blow to the head and then dismembered. He was aged 35 to 55, 5 feet 7 inches (1.70 m) tall and of a muscular build, and was likely Asian. Carbon dating suggested he had been killed in the early 1960s.
October 2017	Jamie Perkins	Gilfach Goch, South Wales	The body of Perkins, who had been living in Tonyrefail and once boxed for Wales, was found in a culvert in a nearby village on 1 November – about three weeks after he was last seen alive. Four arrests over the murder of the 41-year-old father-of-one were made within a month of his body being discovered, but none of the people arrested was charged.
November 2017	Michael Jonas	Anerley, London	Jonas, 17, was stabbed to death in Betts Park, Anerley, Bromley, on the evening of 2 November 2017. CCTV footage showed suspects on bicycles shortly before the crime. Six teenagers were charged with Jonas's murder in January 2018, but the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
November 2017	Adam Ellison	Prescot, Merseyside	On 4 November 2017, 29-year-old Ellison became involved in an argument with people riding a motorbike in a pedestrianised area. He was fatally stabbed. The distinctive Kawasaki motorcycle was recovered and is believed to have links to Plymouth.
November 2017	Anthony Nicholls	Birmingham	56-year-old Nicholls and his partner were having a meal in their Birchtrees Drive home on 2 November 2017 when intruders broke in and a large firework was set off, triggering a blaze. Nicholls suffered severe burns and smoke inhalation before being rescued by firefighters, and died on 7 November. His partner managed to escape by jumping from a first floor window, suffering a broken leg.
November 2017	Jordan Ajobo	North Woolwich, London	21-year-old Ajobo was fatally stabbed on Pier Road, North Woolwich on the evening of 8 November 2017. Two men were arrested then released and in January 2018 police named a man they were searching for in connection with Jordan's death.
November 2017	Kacem Mokrane	Attacked in Walthamstow, London, died in hospital four days later	Mokrane, 18, was stabbed on Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow, on 16 November 2017. He died four days later from his injuries. Two men were arrested and released.
November 2017	Piotr Woroniecki	Clapham, London	Woroniecki, 32, was found unresponsive on Parma Crescent, Clapham, on 23 November 2017. A post mortem found that he had died from compression to the neck and police believe he had been held in a headlock for a long time. Three men have been arrested and released.
December 2017	Janet Moore	Struck by a car in Molesey, Surrey, died in hospital six days later	During the early hours of 26 November, shouting was heard and a car was seen speeding away from The Hurst Pool's car park. Officers called to the scene found 54-year-old Moore there with serious injuries caused by vehicle impact, which proved fatal. A man taken into custody in January 2018 to be questioned about his possible involvement in her murder was still a person of interest four months later.
December 2017	Alex Vanderpuye	Hackney, London	Vanderpuye, 24, was stabbed to death at the junction of Cassland Road and Christie Road, Hackney, on 7 December 2017. A number of people have been arrested and released. In 2019, police offered a £20,000 reward for information.
December 2017	Taofeek Lamidi	West Ham, London	20-year-old Lamidi was fatally stabbed on Memorial Avenue, West Ham, on the evening of 31 December 2017. Police said he was with a number of other people at the time of the attack.
January 2018	Harun Jama	Oxford	16-year-old Jama, a Birmingham resident visiting Oxford, was stabbed in Friars Wharf on 3 January 2018. Several arrests have been made over his murder but no charges brought.
January 2018	Yaya Mbye	Attacked in Stoke Newington, London, died in hospital	Mbye, 26, was stabbed on the George Downing Estate in Stoke Newington on 28 January 2018; he died of his injuries in hospital a short while later. Police believe three suspects left the scene in a silver car.
February 2018	Bulent Kabala	Barnet, London	41-year-old Kabala was shot dead on Mount Pleasant, near Edgeworth Road, Cockfosters, at about 11.45 pm on 12 February 2018. His car had been hit by a Ford Transit van which had been following him and he was shot when he got out of his vehicle. A man was arrested but later released. Kabala's cousin Cafer Aslan had been murdered six months previously, in August 2017. Police have described both murders as contract killings and offered a £20,000 reward.
March 2018	Georgina Gharsallah	Body not found	Gharsallah, 30, disappeared from her home town of Worthing in West Sussex on 7 March 2018. CCTV recorded someone who appeared to be her walking with a woman along the town's Chapel Road that afternoon, but neither woman's identity has been determined. Gharsallah's case was reclassified as one of murder in August 2019.
March 2018	Kelvin Odunuyi	Attacked in Wood Green, London, died in hospital	Odunuyi, 19, was fatally shot on 8 March 2018 outside the Vue cinema in Wood Green. It is believed that the killing was a revenge attack for the murder of Kwabena "Kobi" Nelson in Tottenham in February 2018.
March 2018	Nikolay Glushkov	New Malden, London	Glushkov, 68, was found dead at his home in Clarence Avenue, New Malden on 12 March 2018. The cause of death was determined to be strangulation. There was no sign of forced entry at the property and the murder allegedly bore the hallmarks of a contract killing. Glushkov was Russian and a prominent critic of the Kremlin, and had been granted political asylum in the UK in 2004.
March 2018	Jermaine Johnson	Walthamstow, London	41-year-old Johnson was stabbed to death on 19 March 2018 near Wood Street railway station. The Metropolitan Police charged a boy aged 17 with his murder four days later, but in June 2018 the case against him was discontinued.
March 2018	Johnny Robbins, Daniel Shaw	Coventry, West Midlands	28-year-old Shaw was shot dead near his home in Tile Hill a few days after the disappearance of 33-year-old Tile Hill resident Robbins, who remains unaccounted for. The police believe that Robbins was murdered as well and have linked the deaths of the two men. A suspect in the killings went missing soon after they took place and may have been murdered himself, while another suspect was bailed in late 2018 following his arrest in Spain.
March 2018	Abraham Badru	Hackney, London	26-year-old Badru was shot dead as he opened the boot of his car on Ferncliff Road, Hackney, on 25 March 2018. Investigators were unsure of the motive; one possibility is mistaken identity. A reward of £20,000 was offered on the anniversary of his death in 2019.
April 2018	Devoy Burton-Stapleton	Earlsfield, London	College student Burton-Stapleton, 20, suffered a fatal street stabbing in the early hours of 1 April 2018 after exiting a bar near Wandsworth Common. A man charged with murder had his case dismissed before his trial was due to commence.
April 2018	Tanesha Melbourne-Blake	Tottenham, London	Melbourne-Blake, 17, was fatally shot as she stood with friends on Chalgrove Road at 9.35 pm on 2 April. She had no links to any gangs, and police believe her death was related to an ongoing territory dispute. In 2020, police made a new appeal for information and announced that the gun used to kill Melbourne-Blake had been found and that it had also been used in the murder of Joseph Williams-Torres in Walthamstow on 14 March 2018. Three men were jailed for Williams-Torres's murder, which was a case of mistaken identity. Police believe the gun was passed between gangs and have arrested and released five men so far in connection with Melbourne-Blake's death.
April 2018	Amaan Shakoor	London	In what may have been a gangland killing, 16-year-old Shakoor was shot in the face outside Walthamstow Leisure Centre on 2 April 2018 and died of his injuries in an east London hospital.
April 2018	Sami Sidhom	Forest Gate, London	18-year-old law student Sidhom was stabbed in Chestnut Avenue, Forest Gate on 16 April while on his way home from a football match. Police believe his death was a case of mistaken identity. Nine boys and men have been arrested over it but no one has been charged.
May 2018	Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton	Camberwell, London	Barton, 17, was shot while playing football on the evening of 5 May 2018. He died shortly after the attack and his body was found on Warham Street, Camberwell.
May 2018	Fatah Warsame	Liverpool	Twenty-year-old Warsame, from Cardiff, was fatally stabbed in Liverpool city centre whilst on a night out on 6 May 2018. A man was arrested on suspicion of his murder and released without charge.
May 2018	Naheed Khan	Body not found	The body of 43-year-old Khan has not been found, but police are treating her disappearance in Middlesbrough as murder. Khan was last seen on 4 May 2018. Money was withdrawn from her bank account from a cash machine in central Middlesbrough two days later; the account has remained untouched since. Crimestoppers is offering an award of £10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Five men have been arrested and released without charge. In June 2020, police announced that they were scaling back the investigation.
May 2018	Annalise Johnstone	Dunning, Perthshire	Johnstone, 22, was murdered at Maggie Wall's memorial on 10 May 2018. Her throat was cut. Her brother stood trial for her murder and, although he admitted dumping her body, he denied murder and the jury reached a verdict of not proven. A woman also faced charges but was cleared.
June 2018	Mark Tremain	Attacked in Stockwell, London, died later in hospital	Tremain, 52, suffered serious facial injuries during a fight in Albert Square, Stockwell, on 31 May 2018. He died in hospital two weeks later, on 14 June.
June 2018	Ishak Tacine	Edmonton, London	20-year-old Tacine was fatally stabbed in a fight on Cavendish Road, Edmonton, in the early evening of 27 June 2018. He died at the scene.
July 2018	Latwaan Griffiths	Attacked in Brixton, London, died later in hospital	Griffiths, 18, was stabbed on Minet Road, Brixton, on the evening of 25 July 2018. He fled the scene and was found collapsed on Denmark Road in Camberwell. He died a few hours later at King's College Hospital.
August 2018	Joel Urhie	Deptford, London	Seven-year-old Urhie died in an arson attack on his family's home in Adolphus Street, Deptford, on 7 August 2018. His mother and sister managed to escape. An appeal was made on Crimewatch Roadshow in March 2019, and two men have been arrested and released without charge.
August 2018	Kavan Brissett	Sheffield	21-year-old Brissett died in hospital four days after he was stabbed in a car park in Upperthorpe on 14 August. Four men have been charged with conspiracy to rob him, but a man whom police still want to question about his death has been missing since September 2018 and is feared to have left the country.
September 2018	Fidel Glasgow	Coventry, West Midlands	The 21-year-old was stabbed on Saturday, 1 September during a brawl near Club M in Coventry. Nobody has been charged with his murder, but nine men have been sentenced for other crimes relating to the street disturbance.
September 2018	Ismail Tanrikulu	Tottenham, London	Tanrikulu, 22, was shot in Tottenham Cemetery on 3 September 2018. A man stood trial for his murder in March 2019 and was acquitted.
September 2018	Elyon Poku	Attacked in Stamford Hill, London, died in hospital	20-year-old Poku was stabbed on 22 September in a flat where he was the DJ at an 18th birthday party. Those who attended have been reluctant to tell the police about anything they saw or heard there.
September 2018	Guled Farah	Attacked in Walthamstow, London, died in hospital	The 19-year-old was shot from a car in Vallentin Road soon after 11 pm on 22 September 2018. A man in his mid-20s was acquitted the following September when the case was abandoned by the Crown Prosecution Service.
October 2018	Carl Russell	Liverpool	Russell, 27, was shot as he and his partner got out of their car in Cornwood Close, Belle Vale, at around 11.30 am on 7 October 2018. Three men were arrested but police made a new appeal for information on the second anniversary of Russell's death.
October 2018	Leroy Ottey	Liverpool	Ottey, 25, was shot in the back when returning to his home in Alderson Road, Wavertree, on the night of 17 October 2018. A black Audi which sped from the scene was later found burnt out nearby in Abbeystead Road.
October 2018	Tyrone Mulinde	Bridgwater, Somerset	Mulinde, a 20-year-old Ugandan national, was stabbed in the arm and heart on 20 October 2018 at a flat in a hostel known as Dampiet House. It was a flat that belonged to someone else but had been taken over by Mulinde and fellow drug dealers. A man and a woman from London were charged and committed to trial, with the man accused of stabbing Mulinde over money issues and the woman of helping her co-defendant carry out the act, but both were acquitted.
October 2018	Ethan Nedd-Bruce	Greenwich, London	18-year-old Nedd-Bruce was gunned down outside Collins House, Armitage Road, Greenwich on the evening of 22 October 2018. Shortly before his death, Nedd-Bruce had been involved in an altercation with a group of men on Woolwich Road. In October 2020, police made a new appeal for information and offered a £20,000 reward.
November 2018	John Ogunjobi	Brixton, London	Ogunjobi, 16, was fatally stabbed on the evening of 5 November 2018 in Greenleaf Close, on Brixton's Tulse Hill Estate. CCTV footage was released of two vehicles which could be linked to the murder. A year after his death, police made a new appeal for information and offered a reward of £20,000.
November 2018	Peter Gouldstone	Attacked in Bounds Green, London, died in hospital	On 6 November 2018, a violent burglary took place at 98-year-old Gouldstone's home. He died of his injuries on 30 November. Two suspects were captured on CCTV. Two men were arrested but neither man was charged.
December 2018	Shane Fox	Wellingborough, Northamptonshire	Fox, 26, was making his way back to his flat on foot in the early hours of 1 December when an unknown person stabbed him in the chest as he neared the property on Nest Farm Crescent. Detectives wanted to question someone caught on CCTV about five minutes before the incident occurred.
December 2018	Richard Odunze-Dim	Edmonton, London	The 20-year-old was shot in a property on St Joseph's Road on 18 December 2018. Believed to be connected to the incident is a black Audi that someone was driving nearby at about the time it took place.
April 2019	Calvin Bungisa	Kentish Town, London	22-year-old Bungisa was stabbed to death in a possibly gang-related street killing on 1 April after being chased by a group of men. A car believed to have been the getaway vehicle was later found abandoned and burnt out in Court Gardens, Highbury.
April 2019	Tony Ferns	Glasgow	Ferns, 33, was fatally stabbed while in his car in Crebar Street, Thornliebank on 18 April 2019. A man approached his vehicle while it was stopped at a junction and asked to speak to him before attacking him. Ferns managed to drive to his home in nearby Roukenburn Street before dying from his injuries.
May 2019	Amanda Gretton	Blackheath, London	Gretton, 57, was reported missing on 15 May 2019 and found murdered near garages on Prendergast Road, Blackheath, on 5 July. A man and a woman in a white van were captured on CCTV around the time of the murder.
July 2019	Cabdullahi Hassan	Attacked in South Hampstead, London, died in hospital	20-year-old Hassan and a man aged 22 were stabbed on Boundary Road on 25 July 2019, but the 22-year-old survived. Two cousins, one of whom was also stabbed, were cleared of murder after telling the court that they were unaware that there might be violence in the area as one of them drove a man there. A prosecutor said that that man was punched by Hassan at a railway station earlier on 25 July. The man left the UK on 26 July and has not been found, and he and others whose whereabouts are unknown remain suspects.
October 2019	Zoe Orton	Deptford, London	46-year-old Orton was found strangled to death at her flat by police on 21 October 2019. She was believed to have been killed three days after CCTV filmed her leaving Woolwich Arsenal station on 1 October.
December 2019	Natalie Jenkins	Body not found	Jenkins, a 32-year-old woman from Thornaby-on-Tees near Middlesbrough, disappeared in December 2019 and is presumed murdered. CCTV captured her walking in the direction of Middlesbrough's Albert Park after 11 pm on 10 December, and she is believed to have still been in the area in the early hours of 11 December. Several people were arrested and released without charge.
December 2019	Ulla Derrick	Died in hospital in Swindon from the effects of a fire in Devizes	A sofa in the communal staircase of a block of flats in Waiblingen Way, Devizes, Wiltshire, was set alight in the early hours of 17 December 2019, causing a fire that led to the death of 51-year-old Derrick and to several others being injured. Police detained a suspect aged 20 before releasing him without charge.

June 2020	Alexander Kareem	Shepherd's Bush, London	Kareem, a 20-year-old computer student, was shot from a white Range Rover in an apparent case of mistaken identity as he rode an e-scooter along Askew Road on 8 June 2020.
July 2020	Dean Edwards	Penge, London	43-year-old Edwards was shot while walking through Betts Park at night on 12 July 2020. Because he had no criminal connections, it appeared likely that the shooter had mistaken him for someone else. A 26-year-old man was acquitted in May 2022.
July 2020	Ahmed Yasin-Ali	Attacked in Maida Hill, London, died in hospital	18-year-old Yasin-Ali was found stabbed near Harrow Road on 15 July 2020. There have been a number of arrests but no charges over his death.
July 2020	Nadeem Butt	Manchester	50-year-old Butt's body was found at his home in Cheetham Hill on 5 August 2020, but his autopsy suggested that he died six days prior to the discovery. Butt's death was due to head injuries, and more than one person is believed to have been responsible for it.
August 2020	Unidentified male	Sudbury, Suffolk	Bones and severed legs of an unknown victim were found in bin bags in the River Stour at Sudbury on 27 August 2020. The deceased was a male of an athletic build, but no other details are known. On 25 May 2021 a man was arrested in relation to the discovery of the remains.
October 2020	Tamba Momodu	Telford, Shropshire	Momodu, 20, was shot dead in a car park on 13 October. He had moved to Telford from London after being acquitted over a death in the capital in 2017, and police think that the shooting that caused his own death had been ordered or carried out in the belief that he had been acquitted wrongly. Twenty-four arrests in connection with the murder had been made by its first anniversary.
January 2022	Scott Cooper	Ryde, Isle of Wight	Cooper, 33, was found stabbed to death in a shower on 4 January. A man was found not guilty.
February 2022	Naomi Hunte	Woolwich, London	Hunte, 41, was found stabbed to death at her flat on 14 February. In July 2023 a 65-year-old man was charged with her murder and that of Fiona Holm, a 48-year-old woman who disappeared the month before and whose body has not been found.
