Template:WikiProject Music venues task force edit

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more templates or modules. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was delete after replacing with {{WikiProject Event Venues|music=yes}} Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:13, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Event Venues/Music task force is a task force of Wikipedia:WikiProject Event Venues so should use Template:WikiProject Event Venues with the |music= parameter (already in the template). Gonnym (talk) 20:50, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Template:WikiProject Buckethead task force edit

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more templates or modules. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was no consensus to merge with Template:WikiProject Guitarists, but feel free to renominate, or renominate with another merge target. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:12, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:WikiProject Buckethead task force with Template:WikiProject Guitarists.
Wikipedia:WikiProject Guitarists/Buckethead task force is a task force of Template:WikiProject Guitarists so should use the same banner template. Add |buckethead= as a parameter to the template. Gonnym (talk) 20:47, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support merging. However, on the talk page it is said that not all articles are guitar related. Maybe one should remove them. --Cyfal (talk) 21:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
From reading that discussion it would seem that the task force should really have been one of WP:WikiProject Musicians. Looking at Category:WikiProject Musicians, maybe a better approach would be to use an un-wrapper version of Template:WikiProject Musicians (or create a new one at something like Template:WikiProject Musicians task forces) and add all these inactive projects as task forces of it. Template:WikiProject Brandy is an example of another one. Gonnym (talk) 22:00, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was merge to Template:Star systems within 5–10 light-years. plicit 23:34, 21 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Propose merging Template:Star systems within 5 light-years with Template:Star systems within 5–10 light-years.
There are only two star systems within 5 light-years, which each have their own navboxes: {{Solar System}} and {{Alpha Centauri}}. So this navbox isn't very useful on its own, but it can be merged with the 5-10 light-years navbox, with the resulting navbox being named Template:Star systems within 10 light-years. Drama Desk Award for Sound Design templates edit

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more templates or modules. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the template's talk page or in a deletion review).

The result of the discussion was no consensus. Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 15:10, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Limited navigational benefit, only a handful of winners with articles amidst a sea of unlinked text. WP:EXISTING; WP:WTAF; WP:NENAN. --woodensuperman 10:44, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. We shouldn't pick and choose what we think is a good award to allow a navigation template and what isn't. The current rule is if the award has an article (for example, Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Sound Design), and the award winners have articles, then the navigation template is valid. As a side note, I once was a fan of these award templates (and I think I might have created a few myself), but now think that these are better suited for categories and lists. But that is something that should be handled in a much wider discussion. Gonnym (talk) 12:45, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They still fail WP:NENAN's "rule of five" though. --woodensuperman 16:39, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep for failure to perform WP:BEFORE. I was able to create threesix new articles for notable (mostly Tony Award–winning) sound designers listed in {{DramaDesk SoundDesignMusical}}, so I suspect that more of these people are notable. The three navboxes should be merged, though, since the "Musical" and "Play" awards were forked from the original "Best Sound Design" award. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:12, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
With the creation of the new articles, and the suggested merge, I'm happy to withdraw nomination. However, WP:BEFORE isn't the issue, WP:WTAF is what should have happened by the template creator. --woodensuperman 09:18, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. WTAF is an essay. I recognize that WP:BEFORE is intended for articles, but the spirit of it, especially "If the article can be fixed through normal editing, then it is not a candidate for AfD" applies here. It was trivial to determine the notability of half a dozen people in these templates and create properly referenced stub articles for them. Note to closer: A close of keep would be fine; I would also be happy to merge these templates, per my note above. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:29, 15 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete SounDesignPlay. Still hasn't met the merits of navigation. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 03:00, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Again, it was trivial to find another notable person to link to in this navbox and create an article for them. I would not be surprised if every person in this navbox meets Wikipedia's notability standards. A little WP:BEFORE would be helpful instead of just counting links. And again, I will be happy to merge these navboxes, which is probably the best outcome. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:11, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • keep for now since new particles have been added. merging is also an interesting option, but we should start a new discussion for that. Frietjes (talk) 18:38, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No navigational benefit, only one winner with an article. WP:EXISTING; WP:WTAF; WP:NENAN. --woodensuperman 10:42, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. No point in creating a navigation template for an award that was just handed this year. There should be a few articles before this needed. Gonnym (talk) 12:47, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. It seems to me that this template is up for deletion, because one of the two names doesn't have an article. We know that the template is going to grow in the next few years when more names are added (with articles). SibTower1987 (talk) 16:32, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's up for deletion because it is a navigation template which provides no navigational benefit! See WP:NENAN which recommends a "rule of five". --woodensuperman 16:38, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
We actually don't know - WP:CRYSTAL. Gonnym (talk) 21:13, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge with {{DramaDesk MusicalFeaturedActor}} and {{DramaDesk MusicalFeaturedActress}}. Those two awards have been retired and replaced with this single award. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:39, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge per Jonesey. --WikiCleanerMan (talk) 03:00, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I'm seeing suggestions about merging. Are you going to suggest the same thing for Template:DramaDesk MusicalLeadPerformance, Template:DramaDesk PlayLeadPerformance, and Template:DramaDesk PlayFeaturedPerformance? Even though the current winners are an actor and an actress, next year the winner could be just one performer and the year after that. We should let the template stand (for now) and have a chance to grow. A lot of award groups are doing gender neutral performance categories and templates have been created for them too. (talk) 16:39, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Merging those templates with their predecessors (e.g. {{DramaDesk MusicalActor}}) also sounds like a good idea. I'll be happy to implement those merges if this discussion is closed as "merge". – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:12, 20 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • merge per Jonesey95 since that would provide less fragmented navigation. Frietjes (talk) 18:36, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. 1) Arguments of WP:CRYSTAL are just as guilty of assuming that that the Drama Desk organization will change its mind and revert to the previous actor/actress categories. The merged gender neutral award is the official award, deserves its own template. If another change happens in the future, then open a discussion at that time, taking into account whatever conditions may exist in that (possible) future situation. 2) Arguments for merging ignores that this is a standalone award, with a relationship to the previous two but still its own award. Would also create a massive template with actor history, actress history, and the new award name history. Is there precedence, with more than one or two years of "new merged award" history, from some other theatre or sports awards? I note, in a related but reversed example, that neither Template:DramaDesk PlayDirection nor Template:DramaDesk MusicalDirection include the 1955 to 1974 history found in Template:DramaDesk Director (which is also silent about the two awards that replace it), as the three awards are distinct despite a somewhat connected history. Standalone awards, thus standalone templates. Jmg38 (talk) 05:38, 30 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It would be good to delete "WCAG web safe contrast ratio.svg" as it does not promote actual accessibility. WCAG 2.x is particularly flawed in how it calculates contrast for text, and a significant percentage of colors it "passes" should fail (47%), and it fails some colors that should pass (22%). There are other emerging standards that are based on science, but we should retire these poorly conceived notions. Myndex talk   09:39, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
