Streaming delays on House?

edit

I've always been curious as to why there's a online streaming delay for House episodes on both Hulu and Fox's "On Demand" part of their website. I think it's something like eight days. Does anyone know why this is? None of Fox's other shows have this restriction that I know of. Is their some kind of special circumstance? Thanks in advance!   --- cymru lass (hit me up)(background check) 01:39, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

finding British TV comedy in US (legally)

edit

Is there any (copyright-legal) place for a (US) person to get the Charlie Brooker British TV comedies -- Screenwipe, Newswipe, the TVGoHome sketch show? 128.194.250.38 (talk) 09:07, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How about helping people watch programs legally, which is what the OP actually asked about. 82.44.55.25 (talk) 19:56, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If the British DVD versions are available, one possibility that some US Britcom fans (and Japanese anime fans) use is to purchase a second DVD player, and re-set it to DVD region code 2. You have to be slightly careful in your purchasing decisions, but a fair number of DVD players can switch region codes, at least a limited number of times. If you have two players, one for Region 1/US disks, and one for Region 2/Europe&Japan disks, you can swap between the players without using up the limited region switching possibilities in each individual player. You also need to be careful to get a player that will successfully mediate the PAL/NTSC format differences. -- 174.31.221.70 (talk) 15:59, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As I noted above, these shows are not available on DVD. --Viennese Waltz 16:02, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Damn, there used to be a complete archive by a dedicated fan of Screenwipe/Newswipe up on YouTube, and I seem to recall it was endorsed or at the least tolerated by Brooker himself. But I just went looking for it and the account has been deleted. Unfortunately they aren't likely to ever come out on DVD, because of the large number of clips from other programs and the ensuing rights issues. the wub "?!" 14:48, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Mildly unrelated but Brooker has today announced that Dead Set will be shown on Independent Film Channel next week, don't hold out on hope yet for his other shows. Nanonic (talk) 15:42, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How to kill a baby in The sims 2?

edit

i want to kill my baby girls as i already have one i want a boy so i want to kill the baby is there any cheat in the game

PS:i dont want the social worker to take it RahulText me 14:30, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

See this. You will want to turn on cheats, create a tombstone, and select how to kill the sim. -- kainaw 14:36, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to use more traditional methods of killing a child or infant sim (eg: watching them burn or starve) you need to mod the game. just google sims 2 mods and im sure you will find one of the mods that allows you to kill child/infant sims. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.167.165.2 (talk) 02:32, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Does that come with the India graphics set? ;) Wnt (talk) 05:42, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm looking for a movie (or maybe television movie) in which a male after getting electrocuted gets the ability to float. I believe the movie was a comedy (I think).Smallman12q (talk) 18:31, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

sports host

edit

Lets say if the city host a multisports event and decided not to host some of the sports like for Summer Olympics it cannot host canoeing, equestrian, gymnastics, modern pentathlon, and skating for Asian Games events due to its lack of facilities for that sports. does the host will get a penalty? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.29.33.186 (talk) 19:15, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As was mentioned earlier, a city unable to host all the sports is not going to be selected via the IOC to host the Olympics. Comet Tuttle (talk) 19:39, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
However, in any Olympics some events will not be staged within the actual city limits. For example, in the 2012 "London" Games the sailing events will be held in Weymouth which that article says is 195 km from London. All the sports listed (not sure about gymnastics?) might well need to be hosted outside the designated host city, but this will have been part of the original bid, so accepted by the IOC or whoever makes the decision. -Sussexonian (talk) 21:29, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Likewise, the Equestrian at the 2008 Summer Olympics happened in Hong Kong, not Beijing, which was the host city. As already mentioned, this was likely worked out years in advance, probably as part of the bid. It wouldn't ever get to the point, like a few weeks before the event, that the host would say "Sorry, we don't have any basketball courts. So we're not playing that". These things are vetted years in advance, and if there are problems, they are dealt with years in advance. --Jayron32 02:14, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
At least Beijing and Hong Kong are on the same continent. At the 1956 Summer Olympics the equestrian events were held almost 10,000 miles away from the main site of the games, and almost 6 months ahead (presumably so it would be summer for both sets of events). But, as mentioned, this was decided well ahead of the games actually starting. --Anonymous, 05:42 UTC, October 19, 2010.
Apart from that example, the general practice of holding some of the events quite some distance outside the official host city has gone back at least as far as 1956. That year, the rowing events were held on Lake Wendouree, near Ballarat, 110 km NW of Melbourne (the lake, which was Ballarat's main domestic water supply, has since completely dried up due to drought, but it's making a comeback). In 2000, various events were held in Canberra, 285 km SW of Sydney. -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 07:43, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The Sailing at the 1908 Summer Olympics was held at Ryde on the Isle of Wight, which is the best part of 100km (including a ferry journey) from the White City venue in London. The Sailing at the 1948 Summer Olympics was in Torquay which is 260km away. Alansplodge (talk) 15:41, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Another example is Sailing at the 1980 Summer Olympics which happened in Tallinn, lying 865 km (537 miles) from Moscow (and nowadays in a different country than Moscow). ---Sluzzelin talk 15:47, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AGnes Moorhead played Mrs Mullen the owner of the Carousel in the 1956 Version of the movie Carousel. This is not listed as one of her film credits.71.168.64.77 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:57, 18 October 2010 (UTC).[reply]

Do you have a reference for that? It's not listed in her entry on IMDb. If you do, why not add it yourself? Anyway, Wikipedia filmographies are usually selective, not exhaustive. Rojomoke (talk) 22:54, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The IMDB page for the 1956 Carousel (as well as other sources) says that Audrey Christie played Mrs. Mullin in the film. We don't seem to have an article about her, but the French Wikipedia has a stub. Deor (talk) 01:03, 19 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
