February 2022 edit

Sorry for the wrong revert! I intend to revert the vandalism but I wrongly revert your good revert. Thank you! SunDawntalk 03:27, 24 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

April 2023 edit

Hello, I'm Oblivy. I wanted to let you know that the external links you added to Chinese Filipino have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. It appears that much of this article links to Wordpress blogs; please consider WP:BLOG and whether the cites can be replaced with reliable sources. Improperly sourced or unsourced information should not be included in an article. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you.Oblivy (talk) 09:25, 6 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Miner Editor. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to Japanese migration to Indonesia—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Miner Editor (talk) 06:46, 8 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Stop adding this kind of content everywhere, you can create a separate article and link it here if you want. Please read WP:BALANCE before your make any further edits. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 04:05, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Could you explain how many of my information had violated Wikipedia law? Explain for every revert you did. Yaujj13 (talk) 04:44, 14 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please read WP:WEIGHT and WP:ONUS. As you are seeking to include disputed content, you have the responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion. It's better to present your content instead in a different article. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 04:01, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry to say I find user:NmWTfs85lXusaybq's explanation completely unsatisfactory. Consensus is a process. There is no individual "responsibility for achieving consensus" unless there's an edit war going on, in which case it's bad form to keep adding things without at least explaining yourself on the talk page.
From a brief review of the material you added, it seems you are definitely attempting to add a viewpoint about abuse of Muslims in a variety of articles. There's nothing inherently wrong in trying to make sure a particular perspective is reflected, but consider WP:BALANCE. Adding big blocks of text to a series of articles draws attention to your account, and might have (maybe) led to the reversion of so many of your edits. For example, this edit[1] was reverted for "nothing to do with" the article, but on my reading it seems related both in time and place. Maybe a more conservative approach of adding short blocks of text with introductory material such as "Complaints have been leveled at XX for their treatment of indigenous muslims in YYY. For example...[2 sentences and a citation]" would help? Then see if other editors make changes or raise objections.
You are certainly required to consider what other editors think. Understand that others have been editing these articles and may have an interest in keeping them balanced and neutral. Also understand that sometimes people have different opinions, even wrongheaded ones, and that's the time to hit "new topic" on the talk page.
Clearly, as I pointed out before, you have had issues with referencing. I see you're trying for reliable sources but there are still issues. For example:
  • the disputed edit to Japanese_migration_to_Indonesia included a string of twitter links, which isn't reliable sourcing
  • these two footnotes appear identical but from different sources[2][3]
Hopefully your experience doesn't stop you from editing Wikipedia. I suggest you work on your sourcing, be incremental, and if you feel there's an edit battle starting (you edit, someone reverts, you add again) explain yourself on the talk page before proceeding. Oblivy (talk) 06:09, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your feedback. I will try to use User Talk as best I can. Also I am trying to improve on my sourcing so no worries on my part. I was wondering whether you could act as the mediator in the topic talk discussion with that user NmWT blah. Yaujj13 (talk) 06:16, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm kind of trying to do that!
I suggest start working on one or two articles, maybe Jambi Sultanate which as does seem to be relevant to your topic, explain the relevance on the talk page and your rationale for making an edit. Mention "NmWT" in the comment so they know you have taken their views into account, and see what happens. Oblivy (talk) 06:23, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Oblivy: I think you misunderstood what I mean.
  • The responsibility for achieving consensus for inclusion is on those seeking to include disputed content can be found in the Wikipedia policy WP:ONUS.
  • Simoooix.haddi misunderstood this too. He made reverts to my restoration before he made self-reverts to withdraw his decision.
  • We're not in an edit battle. I'm helping Yaujj13 to format the separate article Chinese Moro mestizo.
NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 06:36, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
My focus is on the word "disputed content". If you are reverting edits without an adequate explanation, how is the content disputed?
For example WP:Reverting says "if you see a good-faith edit that you believe lowers the quality of the article, make a good-faith effort to reword instead of just reverting it. Similarly, if you make an edit that is good-faith reverted, do not simply reinstate your edit – leave the status quo up, or try an alternative way to make the change that includes feedback from the other editor."
It's a two-way street. I haven't said User:Yaujj13 is completely blameless here, but I don't see bad faith editing, so the responsibility was on you to explain your reversion. Let's stick with Jambi Sultanate:
  • original edit - a lengthy chunk of text with WP:RS (I haven't checked the contents of the source, but let's assume you didn't either)
  • you reverted, with the ONLY explanation being "please stop adding this kind of content everywhere. You can create a separate article and link it here if you want"
  • they reverted (maybe edit warring?)
  • you reverted (now edit warring?) with an explanation that this information is unrelated
  • that reversion was reverted by User:Simoooix.haddi saying you are edit warring
  • then it was self-reverted
I have no idea why that last reversion was self-reverted. Maybe you have some information I don't. But on my reading you were the aggressor with respect to this article. I could be wrong, but at least I've explained myself. Oblivy (talk) 07:06, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, let's stick with Jambi Sultanate:
  • The 1st paragraph he added is about the relationship between ancient China and Jambi written from a Chinese POV.
  • The 1st part of the 2nd paragraph he added is the "disputed content": Local Muslim women who dealt in the cloth trade willingly married Han Chinese men in Palembang and Jambi and also local Muslim women in Banten married Han Chinese men. The Han Chinese men converted to Islam to please their Muslim wives. The same Muslim women refused to deal or even meet with Dutch men especially in Palembang since the Dutch were infamous for sexually abusing indigenous Muslim women. I'm not sure why he inserted such kind of sentences here. It's an off-topic POV under the "History" section of Jambi Sultanate.
  • The other parts of the 2nd paragraph he added is about the conflict between Chinese, Thai and Dutch. It's written from a Chinese POV. The Jambi is only a part of background. Such kind of content should be included in a related article about the conflict itself. He may link that article here if he want.
  • The other paragraphs he added are written from a Chinese POV as well, such as Commerce in Jambi was dominated by Chinese merchants and local Jambi people also benefited from renting out to rubber plantations.
NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 08:14, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
You could raise these points on the article talk page so other editors are aware of your views. Perhaps temper allegations of "Chinese POV" a bit though? Up to you. Oblivy (talk) 09:07, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I have listed these points on Talk:Jambi Sultanate. I think these Chinese POVs are obvious and that's why Simoooix.haddi made self-reverts.
The point is that Yaujj13 have recently put such kind of Chinese POVs everywhere since the edit Special:Diff/1147320259 in 30 March 2023. The articles affected by his Chinese POVs include Peranakans, Chinese Filipino, Tausūg people, Chinese Indonesians, Japanese migration to Indonesia, Japanese war crimes, Persecution of Muslims, Sangley, Moro Rebellion, Moro conflict, Jambi Sultanate and Han Chinese.
The content he added to these articles sound like Han chauvinism and Chinese nationalism propaganda. I notice that Yaujj13 work in Fandom wikis, as mentioned in his user page. He may need to be reminded of the difference of policy between Wikipedia and Fandom. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 10:14, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
I made a revert to remove the off-topic content Yaujj13 added under "Governorship of Tasker H. Bliss (1906–1909)" section of Moro Rebellion. But @Beyond My Ken tried to wikify it by moving it to "Controversy" section, but it's still weird. I will reach him to discuss if there's really any need to keep such kind of content. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 10:40, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, you've made your point. I'm actually not that interested in these articles, but rather in trying to help Yaujj13 understand how to be productive and get along on Wikipedia.
I gently suggested you tone down the accusations of Chinese POV. You didn't take the hint, so I'll say it bluntly: name-calling another editor is inappropriate, it's not assuming good faith, and it interferes with people reading what might otherwise be good points. There are relevant policies at play, but let's just call it common sense and decency. Oblivy (talk) 12:15, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
It's nice of you to help Yaujj13. I should have made a more accurate description about this. As you can see, Onel5969 moved his articles to draftspace. The problems of his content are as follows:
  • it's a mess structurally
  • it's not written in a tone suitable for an encyclopedia
  • it contains tons of information not pertinent to the article subject
  • WP:CITEBOMB
  • WP:VERIFY
  • it needs a lot of work on grammar and punctuation
I don't think it's acceptable to insert such kind of content directly to any article in mainspace. NmWTfs85lXusaybq (talk) 13:23, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
