Adminship

Just out curiousity did you ever think about running for admin? You handled the problems at Catalan Countries extremely well and your closing summary of the RFC was spot on. I think you'd make a good admin. WCMemail 10:18, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

@Wee Curry Monster:Thank you   I guess if I try now, I would be rejected on NOTNOW. I have not spent a lot of time here so its not happening that fast. On another note, I am the coordinator at WP:DRN, so that works well to get me some experience. Yashovardhan (talk) 11:56, 9 June 2017 (UTC)

A barnstar for you!

Files for upload

No worries. They responded on my talk, but the most they accomplished was introducing yet another version of the file, still with no indication which was really the official. Maybe I just don't understand, and the official seal is more of "something that fits this description", rather than in the US, where there are actually official digital graphics of the executive branches. But I don't think we can resolve that through communication via hyperlink. TimothyJosephWood 12:07, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@Timothyjosephwood: Yeah, it gets really tough when interacting with someone who can't write English. More irritating because this is the English wiki. I just pinged you because I thought he might have discussed this with you outside FFU (and I was right partially). Yashovardhan (talk) 12:58, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Blocked user

Hi Yashovardhan! Hope you are doing well. A recently blocked user removed his status from blocked to the ambiguous and more aesthetic "no longer active", his latest attempt at evading detection, assisted by two other usernames of little activity. I understand you are an administrator, it would be appreciated that the authority of WP be enforced for the sake of transparency and accuracy, by reverting to the proper informative template. Best regards Iñaki LL (talk) 12:50, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

@Iñaki LL: Haha, I am not an admin! Secondly, what he did was just mention on his user page that he is no longer active. This won't remove any blocks being enforced. Lastly, he has not been blocked but just Topic banned for editing in some specific areas. There was a long discussion at WP:AN#Reverting closure without discussion, where consensus was reached for the ban. Ban is not equal to block. You can take your concerns to 78.26 who is an admin and enforced the topic ban. Yashovardhan (talk) 12:57, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
Also, place new discussions at the bottom of the page only. Yashovardhan (talk) 13:00, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
O there was an edit conflict, with no conflict thanks to the latest technical advances. Thanks for your info, someone added a BLOCK template, and later the editor in question himself added "this user is no longer active" so I thought a block had been enforced on him altogether, and not a topic ban... About the message you left on my talkpage

Sir,thanks for leaving a message at my talkpage. But how do you know me? and , why did you leave a message in my talkpage? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wholecube (talkcontribs) 11:00, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi Wholecube, I just wanted to welcome you to Wikipedia. Please don't refer to me as 'sir'. You can just call me Yashovardhan. I saw your request at the Teahouse and saw that you have not been welcomed yet to Wikipedia so I decided to drop a welcome. Once again, Welcome to Wikipedia! Feel free to contact me if you need any help. Yashovardhan (talk) 16:38, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Wonder Woman and Dawn of Justice soundtracks

Nothing has been said in more than 48 hours. I would suggest either closing the case, asking them to comment, or asking for a moderator, depending on what you think is appropriate. When I was coordinator, I think that I would have asked them whether they wanted me to ask for a moderator. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:18, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

Thanks Robert McClenon for your valuable advise. I'd forgotten about it and was slightly inactive these days.. I'll come by today itself (possibly before the Champions trophy final today). Yashovardhan (talk) 05:22, 18 June 2017 (UTC)

DRN

Hello, I've recently added myself to the list of volunteers for the DRN. I do have prior editing experience, this is just a freshstart account. I've never done DRN and I was wondering if you had any tips that could help me when working cases. Thanks in advance! Hope to hear from you soon. DJAustin (talk) 14:55, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi @DJAustin: and thanks for signing up. I hope you have read the volunteer instructions at WP:DRN/V completely and have no doubts there. Now, to get started, you need to have a good idea (even if brief) about Wikipedia policies and guidelines. If you have a good understanding here, you can right away start helping in mediating cases. I would suggest however that you start by closing premature cases and commenting on new discussions. Watch the DRN page and keep an eye on how experienced volunteers handle disputes. Later, when you are more comfortable, you can start taking up disputes for mediation. So, how to get started? when a new dispute is filed, go to the associated talk pages (including user talk pages) and check if there was any discussion between the involved users about the content dispute (note that conduct disputes are out of scope here). If no discussion took place, you can close the case asking them to discuss on the article talk page first. Include a link to WP:DISCFAIL to let them know what to do in case the other parties are not discussing. (Remember to remove the DNAU - Do not archive until - template when closing cases). If adequate discussion took place, check all user talk pages to see if the filer has notified all parties. If not, leave a note on the DRN discussion asking the filer to notify all parties. You can alternatively notify them yourself by using the template {{DRN-notice}}. Your comments help other volunteers decide whether to take up a dispute or not. Feel free ro ask me if you have any queries. Yashovardhan (talk) 15:59, 19 June 2017 (UTC)

Hi yashovardhan Dhanania, Thanks for your recent review on Zebronics. I have noted all the points you mentioned, but its little confusing what you talk about. Chera dynasty

You didn't include the code. Template:Ds/talk notice. Doug Weller talk 19:17, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

@Doug Weller: I think I did include the topic code (ipa)... Are you talking about something else I missed or didI screw up something? Yashovardhan (talk) 19:23, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Damn, I'm an Arb and I forgot which link that was concealed behind. You're ok, the template isn't. Doug Weller talk 19:45, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
@Doug Weller: Damn! Even I had to figure out which link It's there in for the first time I used it! I think a clear cut link like"permitted here .." Or something like that would work way better. That'll be a lot of effort though... Good luck.... Keep forgetting. I meant keep working! Yashovardhan (talk) 19:53, 21 June 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I've asked that it make the pages explicit. Doug Weller talk 20:08, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

Question about Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard

Hi, thank you for paying attention to my file. Can I ask you two question about the DRN?
1. I'm the person who file this case, does that mean I am not allow to make a summary about the dispute? I didn't see it in the template.
2. I actually have notified involving parties in their talk pages before you gave me the template of notification. Should I notify them again using the template? -- Fenal Kalundo (talk) 09:23, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
@Fenal Kalundo: To reply to your questions,
  1. Your summary has been included in the dispute overview itself. Since a summary is nothing more than "What you think is the dispute", your dispute overview is treated as a summary itself.
  2. There is no need to notify them again if you have already done so. The template is only for convenience and is not mandatory.
A volunteer will open the case after all/majority of other parties have filed their opening summaries. If you have any further doubts, please ask them at The Dispute resolution noticeboard talk page. Yashovardhan (talk) 09:42, 3 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you. -- Fenal Kalundo (talk) 09:45, 3 July 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Yashovardhan Dhanania, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

DRN awards...

I have temporally reverted both of your last revision(s) to this project page and the concerned talk.IMHO, the concensus is perfectly visible--to try the scheme on an experimental basis; in spite of the scarce discussion. Thanks!Winged Blades Godric 12:46, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
