Young People's Theatre - Attention Needed
Hello - I am currently blocked from editing the page Young People's Theatre. They suspected me of copyright infringement because I had taken some text from my company's website - www.youngpeoplestheatre.ca - which I have permission to use. I now understand where the problem lies in my wording. Is it possible for the block to be removed so I can continue editing under the proper guidelines? Thanks.YPT50 (talk) 13:30, 24 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi. Did you read all the messages posted on your talk page? Because you have conflict of interest, it would be best for you not to edit the article. However, on the article's talk page you can make suggestions of edits that you think should be made. Word-to-word copying from other websites is not allowed per Wikipedia rules. suspension recommendation
User 162.218.180.50 has consistently vandalised articles this month. Could you arrange to have them suspended? Mzilikazi1939 (talk) 19:21, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Mzilikazi1939: The IP has indeed caused a lot of disruption. If you notice them doing it again, please report them at WP:AIV. Widr (talk) 19:31, 28 September 2015 (UTC)
File: Siouxsie Christine.jpg
What is the point to put back online a picture of this sleeve that has bad colors and is of bad quality ? The point of your tag was to ask that the newly version with good quality if reproduction was reduced in size, not reducing the size of the old one, wasn't it? [[User:Theo's Little Bot}]] apparently hasn't understood anything of your remark as his change hasn't helped in anything. Same remark for the file of "Siouxsie Cities"Carliertwo (talk) 20:10, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- Sorry, I am not following you now. The bot has reduced the size of the image you uploaded, per the non-free criteria. Widr (talk) 20:19, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Shimer College edits
Several things:
most crucially, the program that I edited er Teaching Fellows no longer exists. Hence the edits away from present tense to a past tense. Please let those be? Otherwise the article is actually false?

Could you clarify what you found to be not constructive in my edits on the Shimer page so that I do not continue to create work for you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Female editor (talk • contribs) 17:10, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

American University of London
Hi - Sorry if this is the wrong section but I am new to Wiki editing.
I am wondering why the edits to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_University_of_London keep being reverted by yourself?
Apologies if we have done something wrong in editing the page but I am working on behalf of the university for social media and would very much like to get the new Wiki operational.
Any help or advice greatly received — Preceding unsigned comment added by Routeski (talk • contribs) 20:50, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Routeski: Hi. Your recent edits removed all the sources and categories from the article. Please also note that because you appear to have conflict of interest, it would be better if you did not edit the article yourself; instead you can use the article's talk page to explain what kind of changes you would like to be made, and then someone will update the information for you. Widr (talk) 21:01, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
This it true and should not be deleted!!!!!!!!
Many people believe in evolution. But I believe in creation. Evolution is false and is not a accurate account of how the earth was formed.
Just take this example for a moment, you have a pile of nut, bold, screws, and other bits of random metal, now if you leave it outside for 105-200 years do you think it will turn into a car motor, no of corse not it will only get all rusty. Just in the same way bits of dust cannot turn eventually in to humans!!!! It doesn't make sense. For more information visit http://creation.com

This is what wiki says all i added was another view point!!!!
This page in a nutshell: Articles must not take sides, but should explain the sides, fairly and without bias. This applies to both what you say and how you say it.

- Not quite. And if you continue adding your spam links to articles, you will find yourself blocked. Widr (talk) 11:09, 31 October 2015 (UTC)

It really was not necessary to revert my edit just because that song wasn't a single. It really just seems like you were trying to prove a point because I added the peak to the page before you. You can alter material without reverting a previous edit. Ss112 16:17, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Would I have reverted if you had added the peak before me? Widr (talk) 16:22, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Wow, okay, that is extremely coincidental that we both edited in the same minute. My apologies; Wikipedia interpreted my edit as a removal of your material. Sorry, it's just that I often encounter editors who revert a chart update-related edit for what seems like a desire to have done it first themselves. Ss112 16:28, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- No harm done. Widr (talk) 16:33, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

Wikipedia Test
I apologize for my incorrect edit. I wanted to see how long it would take for Wikipidia to find and correct false information, so I could identify how reliable Wikipidia pages are. Just so you know, it took approximately 45 minutes before my edit was corrected. By the way, I did make sure to change something that would not have a negative effect for other Wikipedia users. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lmeth (talk • contribs) 20:57, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
Kenneth Waller
Sorry to be pestering you, but I see you've been online today. Am I right that you didn't like what I posted about his death because Wikipedia is a site for posting what we know, not what we don't know? I know I don't even have a reliable source for his cause of death, like I've never seen his death certificate.Grand Slam AF (talk) 23:00, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Grand Slam AF

Jews of Ashkenazi Origin
Ashkenazi Jews are not only from Germany - they are also from Eastern Europe....and so when referring to Ashkenazi Jews, I think it is fair to include Eastern Europeans in the same category as well; since they are Ashkenazi and speak Yiddish as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truthbetold90 (talk • contribs) 16:25, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Capitalisation of "like"
There is an IP who insists that "Love Me like You" should have the "like" capitalised and has been reverting my changes, even when I have redirected them to MOS:CT. I think this is a preposition and therefore follows the same rule that you stated on the talk page of "Love Me like You Do" – am I right? Richard3120 (talk) 14:16, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Yeah, that is correct. Widr (talk) 14:21, 18 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, just thought I'd check. They've changed all instances of the song on the article for its parent album Get Weird as well, so you may want to keep an eye on that too. Richard3120 (talk) 18:45, 18 November 2015 (UTC)

Signpost exit poll
Dear Wikipedian, you recently voted in the ArbCom election. Your username, along with around 155 other usernames of your fellow Wikipedians, was randomly selected from the 2000+ Wikipedians who voted this year, with the help of one of the election-commissioners. If you are willing, could you please participate (at your option either on-wiki via userspace or off-wiki via email) in an exit poll, and answer some questions about how you decided amongst the ArbCom candidates?
If you decide to participate in this exit poll, the statistical results will be published in the Signpost, an online newspaper with over 1000 Wikipedians among the readership. There are about twelve questions, which have alphanumerical answers; it should take you a few minutes to complete the exit poll questionnaire, and will help improve Wikipedia by giving future candidates information about what you think is important. This is only an unofficial survey, and will have no impact on your actual vote during this election, nor in any future election.
All questions are individually optional, and this entire exit poll itself is also entirely optional, though if you choose not to participate, I would appreciate a brief reply indicating why you decided not to take part (see Question Zero). Thanks for being a Wikipedian
The questionnaire
Dear Wikipedian, please fill out these questions -- at your option via usertalk or via email, see Detailed Instructions at the end of the twelve questions -- by putting the appropriate answer in the blanks provided. If you decide not to answer a question (all questions are optional), please put the reason down: "undecided" / "private information" / "prefer not to answer" / "question is not well-posed" / "other: please specify". Although the Signpost cannot guarantee that complex answers can be processed for publication, it will help us improve future exit polls, if you give us comments about why you could not answer specific questions.

Processing of responses will be performed in batches of ten, prior to publication in the Signpost. GamerPro64 will be processing the email-based answers, and will strive to maintain the privacy of your answers (as well as your email address and the associated IP address typically found in the email-headers), though of course as a volunteer effort, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will have a system free from computer virii, we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will resist hypothetical bribes offered by the KGB/NSA/MI6 to reveal your secrets, and we cannot legally guarantee that GamerPro64 will make no mistakes. If you choose to answer on-wiki, your answers will be visible to other Wikipedians. If you choose to answer via email, your answers will be sent unencrypted over the internet, and we will do our best to protect your privacy, but unencrypted email is inherently an improper mechanism for doing so. Sorry! :-) |
We do promise to try hard, not to make any mistakes, in the processing and presentation of your answers. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact column-editor GamerPro64, copy-editor 75.108.94.227, or copy-editor Ryk72. Thanks for reading, and thanks for helping Wikipedia.
