That bundled AfD is clearly contrary to WP:BUNDLE. Not sure how to get a procedural close. The nominator can then do each AfD separately if they choose. Thoughts? Magnolia677 (talk) 15:31, 14 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm not entirely sure either. Presumably we'd want to get an uninvolved admin (which I'm obviously not) to weigh in, but short of escalating this to a noticeboard, there's not an obvious way to do that. I know a few admins who have been aware of these sorts of mass nominations in the past, but at the rate these nominations are going, reaching out to them might be seen as canvassing. For what it's worth, this wouldn't be the first recent mass nomination of communities to be closed for procedural reasons, but the nominator withdrew in that case; this time, the nominator isn't even the one who bundled the articles, and the article that was originally nominated isn't actually notable so there's no reason to close that. If you don't want to be bothered by these notices, just say so and I'll stop. When I omitted them (because the person was supposedly retired) I got nagged at length. Mangoe (talk) 14:57, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
If you get a moment have a look at Parks Place, Mississippi. It is unique because it has been marked by GNIS as "historic", which means someone had to scrutinize the entry to be sure it's not only a populated place, but an abandoned populated place. A second source to support the existence of this ghost town was a map showing the place. This AfD seems to suggest that GNIS is completely unreliable as a source. I think I may broadcast this AfD to get a wider input. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:13, 17 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
@Mangoe: Please do keep notifying me - partly because I want to rescue articles like this if I can, partly since I want to pay attention to how these AfDs turn out for future reference. As I mentioned in one of the AfDs, my personal standards for when to create these articles have changed through the years, and I want to make sure they're in line with the community.
@Magnolia677:} I'll take a look at Parks Place. Though I'll want to dig around for sources there, since I've seen cases of the GNIS marking plantations and the like as populated places before. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 03:29, 18 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi-Thank You for helping with the unincorporated communities articles and other articles also. I am sad that some of the unincorporated communities articles were deleted for different reasons. I just signed up with the Women In Red project. For the last few years I help with articles involving women who served in public office in the United States. Some examples: Mary Beattie, A. Lucille Matarese, Kelly Timilty, and Arlene Stringer-Cuevas. Thank you for your service and work with Wikipedia-RFD (talk) 11:37, 13 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you too! I'm also a member of Women in Red, and it's always good to see new members. (I should write more biographies of women - I don't write that many biographies to begin with, so I haven't been doing much for the project lately, but it's good to have an excuse to fix that.) Articles for Creation: List of reviewers by subject notice

edit

Hi TheCatalyst31, you are receiving this notice because you are listed as an active Articles for Creation reviewer.

Recently a list of reviewers by area of expertise was created. This notice is being sent out to alert you to the existence of that list, and to encourage you to add your name to it. If you or other reviewers come across articles in the queue where an acceptance/decline hinges on specialist knowledge, this list should serve to facilitate contact with a fellow reviewer.

To end on a positive note, the backlog has dropped below 1,500, so thanks for all of the hard work some of you have been putting into the AfC process!

Sent to all Articles for Creation reviewers as a one-time notice. To opt-out of all massmessage mailings, you may add Category:Wikipedians who opt out of message delivery to your user talk page. Regards, Sam-2727 (talk)

National parks

edit

Hello, and thank you again for your help. I have been trying to add missing properties into NRHP listings by myself, eventually. Here, here, here, here and here. If you are fine with everything, I guess I'll be good enough to keep going without further assistance! Whatever, I'd still like someone else to create the list and template for Redwood National Park, which should include the six entries found within Catégorie:Registre national des lieux historiques dans le parc national de Redwood plus I guess Old Requa and Prairie Creek Fish Hatchery, which I believe are out of the legal boundaries of the park but once again deeply associated with it – just like Backus-Marblemount Ranger Station House No. 1010 and others that you've keeped in National Register of Historic Places listings in North Cascades National Park. Would you mind trying that? Two counties are involved so the situation for Redwood NP is not to be compared with the one of Crater Lake National Park. Thierry Caro (talk) 00:39, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

The new additions look good to me. If you get tired of updating the listing numbers manually, there's a user script that can do it for you after you add the listing. I'll make a list for Redwood when I get the chance. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 01:19, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

if it is not too late I would like to delete a ANI

edit

hallo, I am not sure if u r the right person to ask to or if it is the best thing to do. I started this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#serious_issue_with_another_user and now I would like, if it is appropriate and possible delete it. not because I don't think I am right but because my opponent has called all the people I had a controversy with and now I look like a villein and I fear I will be blocked (boomerang).

just to be 100% honest the same day I started this ANI I lost the grip and insulted and swear to Gleeanon409. I got a warning because of that so I deleted the messages. I am sorry I did it but this is what Gleeanon409 does, he is getting on my nerve to make me react so he can make me kick out of wikipedia.

I know I will never win that discussion as they keep dragging me away from the real and only reason I started it: since my stats proves I am not making disruptive AFD nominations then Gleeanon409 should stop accusing me of that in every discussions we meet. argue the nominated article not the nominator. but, as u can see, Gleeanon409 pinged a lot of people he knew that for one reason or another have a problem with me (when u make delete more than 20 porn bio u have a lot of people who don't like u) so now I am accused of mostly anything and I don't want to defend myself any longer. English is not my mother tongue so to me comunicate precisely and effectively can be hard.

thank you for listening and I will appreciate if u can help. --AlejandroLeloirRey (talk) 19:17, 2 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

With only a quick review of the situation, can't you just withdraw your issue at ANI and walk away? If the stress is really getting to you, then you could avoid the other person (at least for a while) so you can calm down. Perhaps reading Wikipedia:Staying cool when the editing gets hot might help you. (Talk page stalker) Royalbroil 20:26, 2 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
I left a more detailed comment at AlejandroLeloirRey's talk page, but in short, the discussion has turned to an examination of his behavior, and withdrawing the original issue wouldn't allow him to shut down that discussion. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 20:48, 2 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_United_States/Requested_Articles#Cities_and_towns I saw you made some of these towns and I was wondering if you could help finish them off, thanks Bigmike2346 (talk) 21:50, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I was planning to finish off more of those when I got the chance. I'm not sure I'll do all of them, since some of the places don't seem to have much of anything left there, but I'll definitely be doing more. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 22:33, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

If you don’t mind could you also do the Utah Municipal Courts article Bigmike2346 (talk) 23:35, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

That one's a little more out of my wheelhouse, since I don't have any particular connection to Utah and don't often write about court systems, so I probably won't be able to do that one. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 23:37, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Needmore, Butler County, Kentucky

edit

As you may have noticed, I've been trying to go through Kentucky to weed out some of the articles created on communities that aren't really there. I'm looking at this one, and I'm not sure if it's an actual community or not, but it's kinda hard to search for, given the common name. This is an annotated USGS listing from a guy named Rennick who went through Kentucky several decades ago (with Morehead State maybe?) cataloging most of the place names, and that's calling this Needmore (county code is 21031) as a locale, unless I got my lines mixed up. His directory for Butler County doesn't mention a Needmore. A newspapers.com search just brings up passing mentions for this one that I found, but there's quite a bit of noise for Needmore, Boyle County, Kentucky, which is definitely notable, I'd say. I don't want to nominate this one for deletion if there was something real here. Do you have any information I didn't come across? Hog Farm Bacon 16:59, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

The context behind the Needmores is that another user asked me to create them several years ago. There are actually five places named Needmore, Kentucky (plus one renamed place), but a third user wrote articles on the other ones. From my own research, it looks like the ones in Ballard, Boyle, and Caldwell counties (and the renamed place) are definitely notable, and I was at least able to find evidence of people who lived in Owen, but I found close to nothing about the Needmore in Butler County. I have no objections to deleting it. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 18:17, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for responding. I'd already gone through Ballard and Caldwell counties and determined those Needmores are notable and the Boyle is definitely notable. The Owen County one is probably fine, too. Hog Farm Bacon 21:43, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Caroline Mark Home

edit

The article Caroline Mark Home has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Per WP:GEOFEAT, article lacks significant in depth coverage

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~RAM (talk) 00:39, 11 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Commonscat position

edit

I noticed you've been adding {{commonscat}} to NRHP articles, which I appreciate. Per the advice at Template:Commons category, a few comments:

  • If the infobox is longer than the article text, or there isn't already an external links section, {{commonscat-inline}} under an external links heading is best. This helps avoid it being lost under a long infobox or causing whitespace in the references. New York Central Railroad Passenger and Freight Station is a good example of both of those.
  • It is preferable not to hardcode the Commons category name, as the template automatically uses Wikidata to make the link. This prevents the link from breaking in the event the Commons category is renamed.

Thanks, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 01:43, 18 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

The first point makes sense; I usually default to not adding a new section if there isn't one, but you're right that the template gets lost more often than not in that case, so I'll start adding one. As for the second point, that's a good idea when everything's in Wikidata, though unfortunately that isn't always the case. (I suppose I could just link the two in that case, of course - I may just be jaded about Wikidata's data quality from all the mistagged Commons categories I've had to unlink.) Hi - is your script working for you? I know Evad37 recently updated {{NRHP row}} based on some of my suggestions - is that breaking this script for everyone, is there something else, or is the problem just on my end? ɱ (talk) 00:57, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

I just ran it on a couple of lists, and it seems to be working fine for me. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 14:48, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
How about at National Register of Historic Places listings in Columbus, Ohio, which uses the new wikidata ID parameter? ɱ (talk) 15:36, 23 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
It's not just you, I'm seeing the issue there too. It probably is an issue with the new parameter. I'll look into what's going on. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 01:53, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
@: the problem was the row for Krumm House, which was using Template:NRHP row/sandbox; the regex that the Commons script uses to identify rows doesn't match the sandbox template. I swapped it out for the standard row template, since we probably shouldn't be using the sandbox template in mainspace in the first place. TheCatalyst31 ReactionCreation 03:18, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
Good catch, was testing out coordinate and mapping options at the time, missed fixing that one somehow. Thanks! ɱ (talk) 04:00, 24 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
