About Draft:Nikos Okekuoyen edit

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Nikos Okekuoyen a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Nikolaos Okekuoyen. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — IVORK Talk 00:29, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have already requested a history merge, an administrator will probably do it within 1 day. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 01:23, 13 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

What makes Nikolaos Okekuoyen "notable"? edit

Has he played in the Greek Basket League or meet one of the other criteria outlined in WP:NBASKETBALL? If which criteria or what team, and when?

Does he meet the notability criteria outlined in WP:Notability (people) or WP:Notability? If so, how?

Does he meet the criteria for any of the other Notability guidelines linked from WP:Notability? If so, which criteria?

If the answer to all of these questions is "no" then this person is not "notable" in the eyes of Wikipedia. That doesn't mean he will not in the future. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:40, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Yeah he has played in the Greek basketball league Stav Fillipou (talk) 10:36, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Which team of the Greek Basket League did he play in? Only the "A1" teams count for WP:NBASKETBALL purposes.
During the years he played for Filathlitikos B.C. that club was not part of the "A1" league and Agrinio B.C. does not appear in the current season of Greek Basket League nor in 2019–20 Greek Basket League. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:20, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Language issues edit

If English is not your native language, you might find it more comfortable to write an article in another language's Wikipedia, then translate the article into English.

A complete list of Wikipedias is at meta:List of Wikipedias.

Before translating a page into English, read WP:Translation.

Most non-English Wikipedias have notability criteria similar to that of the English Wikipedia. For example, the Greek-language Wikipedia's Notability page is at el:Βικιπαίδεια:Εγκυκλοπαιδικότητα. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 02:26, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Nikolaos Okekuoyen is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nikolaos Okekuoyen (2nd nomination) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Davidwr I don’t see why this page keeps on getting nominated for deletion can you please explain too me the reason behind this decision? Stav Fillipou (talk) 23:27, 7 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

The article itself isn't the problem, the problem is that as far as I can tell, the individual does not appear to meet Wikipedia's requirements to have an article in the first place. There is no evidence that he meets Wikipedia's requirements for basketball players, WP:NBASKETBALL. He doesn't seem to meet the requirements for any person, WP:NBIO. He doesn't seem to meet the general notability requirements either, WP:Notability. If I am wrong, if the person meets any one of these, please improve the article then go to the discussion page and point out the improvements. By improvements, I mean demonstrate that the person has received significant coverage from reliable sources that are independent of the player. "Routine" coverage and "routine" interviews generally won't help demonstrate "notability." Press releases and publicity-related interviews are generally not considered "independent" so they won't help demonstrate "notability" either. Had he played at least one game in a top-level national league the page would not have been nominated for deletion.
When it comes to non-notable topics, even the most well-written article will not be kept. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:21, 8 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
