Ona Kantheeswarar Temple

Hello  ,
I was checking your WP:WAM articles. Very very very well done. Could you check orphan tag in this article Ona Kantheeswarar Temple, I have marked it as pending for now, as I personally feel "orphan" on Wikipedia is not a serious issue, and can be fixed. Perhaps, you can check?
Good wishes.  --Tito Dutta (talk) 19:28, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

  • Same issue with these articles: --Tito Dutta (talk) 19:34, 1 December 2015 (UTC)
@User:Titodutta - There is a lag in AWB - i have got these linked earlier, but still showing up - i have created secondary links and removed the orphan tag. I just got my power and internet back - was floating in floods in Chennai for the past 4 days. Please check these back at your convenience.Ssriram mt (talk) 03:45, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
  • Sure, thanks for informing. Hope situations will improve soon in Tamil Nadu. I have assessed all your articles, please check here WP:WAMP#S. --Tito Dutta (talk) 09:16, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Thanks a lot - we should be back to normalcy soon.Ssriram mt (talk) 08:55, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from one or more pages into Kasi Viswanathar Temple, Kumbakonam. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:46, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

@Diannaa - the worship practises are the same in all South Indian Shiva temples. The quoted Shiva temple is one of the series of 276 temples classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. The quoted content are my contributions in other pages as well. It is similar to demographic data - as the numbers alone would vary with cities, so are the timings and/or festivals in worship practises.Ssriram mt (talk) 16:15, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
Hi Ssriram mt and thank you for the explanation. The material showed up on a bot report here as being a copyright violation. While it is not technically required for you to give attribution when copying your own prose from one article to another, it's probably a good idea, so that patrolling administrators will not have to hunt through the history of the source page to find out who wrote it. Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 16:20, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

Editor of the Week : nominations needed!

The Editor of the Week initiative has been recognizing editors since 2013 for their hard work and dedication. Editing Wikipedia can be disheartening and tedious at times; the weekly Editor of the Week award lets its recipients know that their positive behaviour and collaborative spirit is appreciated. The response from the honorees has been enthusiastic and thankful.

The list of nominees is running short, and so new nominations are needed for consideration. Have you come across someone in your editing circle who deserves a pat on the back for improving article prose regularly, making it easier to understand? Or perhaps someone has stepped in to mediate a contentious dispute, and did an excellent job. Do you know someone who hasn't received many accolades and is deserving of greater renown? Is there an editor who does lots of little tasks well, such as cleaning up citations?

Chhinnamasta: Wikipedia:Peer review/Chhinnamasta/archive1

Hi Ssriram mt.. I hope you are doing well ... The article Chinnamasta was recently expanded for a potential FAC. IMO, Chinnamasta will benefit from your review. Chinnamasta is a self-decapitated Tantric goddess, who holds her severed head in her hand and drinks blood from her wound.--Redtigerxyz Talk 17:43, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for the review. I have addressed your comments. Kindly take a look. --Redtigerxyz Talk 06:50, 13 August 2016 (UTC)

Alvar or Alwar or Azhwar

I thought three spellings of Alvars. There is no consistency in the spelling (Alvar or Alwar or Azhwar). IMO all articles in wikipedia should have the same spelling. Currently, the main article Alvars as well as most of individual Alvar articles use Alvar. I want to create move discussion to move all these article to a standard spelling. What is your take on this.--Redtigerxyz Talk 15:49, 22 August 2016 (UTC)

Bingo - was just thinking about renaming. As per Tamil diction, it is "zha" - so IMO Azhwars should be the spelling. Please create a move discussion.Ssriram mt (talk) 15:57, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
I was searching the net; it seems Alvar is the most popular
There is a Tamil word called Alvar, which translates to ruler. Most of the authors leaving a few are not of Tamil origin and have used Alvar and may not be aware of its meaning. The Azhwar prefix names are mostly common names (like Pei, Bhoothath, Nam), which when taken with Alvar gives altogether a different meaning.Ssriram mt (talk) 16:28, 23 August 2016 (UTC)
Moving the discussion to Talk:Alvars#Alvar_or_Alwar_or_Azhwar. Please share your views there.Redtigerxyz Talk 18:13, 23 August 2016 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa - I remember we had the discussion earlier. The temples in the Divyadesam list have similar worship and festive practices. I have indeed attributed the reference "contents replicated from Govindaraja Perumal Temple". All the references quoted are verifiable to both the parent and the new page. The contents of legend and religious importance are the same for 4 temples in Kanchipuram and that is also highlighted. I have added contents for all the parent pages from where it is sourced.Ssriram mt (talk) 16:18, 30 August 2016 (UTC)

Africa Destubathon

Hi, thanks for your work so far! Can you do me a favour though and always add every entry you do to the main list here as well as the entries page, regardless if yet approved or not as that's the master list of all articles being done. It's just very time consuming for me to be judging the articles, trying to contribute myself and chasing up what people have done and filling it out for people each time. So if you can take care of that this would be a great help, there's some part filled out ones underneath so you just need to add country, article name and then your username. Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 20:33, 16 October 2016 (UTC)

Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:02, 21 October 2016 (UTC)

Invitation from Wikipedia Asian Month 2016

Thanks for partipating Wikipedia Asian Month last year, and I hope you enjoy it. Last year, more than 7,000 articles contribute to Wikipedia in 43 languages in Wikipedia Asian Month, making us one of the largest event on Wikipedia. We will organize this event again in upcoming November, and would like to invite you join us again.

This year, we are lowering down the standards that you only need to create 4 (Four) articles to receive a postcard (new design), and articles only need to be more than 3,000 bytes and 300 words. We are also improving our postcard sending process, e.g. making the postcards right now, and collecting the address after the event ends without waiting other languges.

Wikipedians who create the most articles on each Wikipedia will be honored as "Wikipedia Asian Ambassadors". We will send you both digital copy, and a paper copy of the Ambassador certificate.

Thank you for considering! --AddisWang (talk)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Angola into Angolan legislative election, 1986. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. For your fantastic work on African regions. When I planned the Destubathon targetting first and second level regions was one of the core goals.
