Games

I've been going through the horror games category and tagging all of the articles there. Are you working from the same list, or are you tagging the articles that aren't in that category?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:18, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

If you've got it covered what I'll do is find games not listed in the category and add them to the category, as well as tag them for the project, that way one pass covers them and any extras are already tagged. Is that OK? Someoneanother 22:19, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
That's straight. I just didn't want to be stepping on someone's toes if we're both going from the same list.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:21, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
That's fair enough, I was thinking the same thing :) Clicked on the first few in the category and noted they'd been tagged. Thanks a lot, if anyone has converging interests in horror and video games it'll be useful for them to get the whole spectrum of games. Someoneanother 22:22, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, if you get down on your end and you want to help with the horror cat, then you can start from "Z" and work your way up. I'm just going down the list alphabetically. I have to take breaks every so often, because it's so tedious. Anyway, if you start from the bottom then we'll figure out when it's down as soon as we hit a couple that are already tagged. :D  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:37, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

LOL "B-spirit". Nice to see you're still around. I think that moderation beats retirement any day of the week. Randomran (talk) 05:22, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Ach, don't say that, I'm trying hard to wind it down and give it a rest awhile :) I would have done so before, but I was waiting for something to pass through Did You Know. A backlog has meant I've had days to find new things to fiddle with. You've both done some excellent work on the fighting game article, what a bloody mess that was before and how much more cohesive it is now. Someoneanother 08:23, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Equal credit goes to user:bridies. He's great. Either way, do check in from time to time. There is a place on Wikipedia for weekenders :) Randomran (talk) 17:31, 12 February 2009 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox {{User Good Articles reviewed}} has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

{{User Good Articles reviewed|6|User:Rjanag/GA reviews}}

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.

Thanks for the helpage with the Mercenaries thing on my snadbox. I have not been able to edit it properly myself because of revision but you have written it better then I would have done any way so that doesn't matter. It could be it's own article if we expand it enough and get as many sources as possible but until then the main article for Resi will have to do. Cheers again and maybe a barnstar later. -)'The Ninjalemming' 14:06, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Oh, by the way I have started editing it, but I may need your opinion on it so I will start a talk page for may sandbox where we can discuss it. Just remember to watch list it first. -) 'The Ninjalemming' 16:03, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Chocolate Castle

The article Chocolate Castle you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. Orphaned non-free media (File:Chocolate Castle Logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading File:Chocolate Castle Logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 06:52, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Bloody Fun Day

I have nominated Bloody Fun Day, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bloody Fun Day. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Cunt (video game)

I did make some changes to better reflect the sources given in the article and added some other stuff, if you don't mind. I have also nominated it for DYK, but there is some opposition on the, uh, wording on the hook; see Wikipedia talk:Did you know#Appropriate for the main page? (I didn't even know it was humanly possible to squeeze all those words into a single, coherent sentence) :) Regards, MuZemike 03:56, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Of course not, thank you. I added it to the new articles list because I wanted the project to be aware of the article and to alter it if necessary. McMillen is now at a stage where any game he releases gets attention, and virtually every time a new one is released his previous games get mentioned (not least Cunt), so the article was inevitable. Better off dealt with by experienced contributors than getting chucked up by a novice and causing issues. DYK, err.. it's not something I'd intended to go anywhere near with it, particularly as the details surrounding the two blogs' viewpoints haven't been added and McMillen's aim isn't specified either. If it does get on DYK, something on the misogyny angle might be more appropriate, but I'm not going to push for it. Someoneanother 09:43, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, the hook didn't get approved since it was too inappropriate, even though it was initally. Oh, well... MuZemike 19:41, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

Yume nikki

Hi Kizor, not sure if you remember this but I nominated this article for deletion awhile ago due to a lack of sourcing, and it was deleted. Despite it obviously being a disappointment, the article creator was cool about it, and I was hoping some decent sourcing would appear so it could be reinstated. It's been put back by a new contributor, apparently copied and pasted from the version that still exists in user space here or a deletionpedia-type thing online. The article actually contains two reasonably-sized sources (one of which, despite being a 'reader review' is actually from a bona fide game writer), so I would like to have a stab at sourcing the article with them and a couple of small mentions. So in short: 1) could you take a look at the attribution aspect in terms of the article's history and do anything necessary 2) could you move it to Yume Nikki because it's apparently salted? Thanks! Someoneanother 19:51, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Done. The article's now at Yume Nikki and a description of this mess is on its talk page. Feel free to take that stab, but it's better done sooner or later. Best wishes for your sourcing, Kizor 19:16, 19 June 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I'll endeavour to to cite it as well as possible quickly. Someoneanother 21:39, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Lord of the Rings: Conquest

Thanks for the assessment. I was aware of the mass of duplicate references when I changed the article, but I was new to Wikipedia at that point and under the impression (and still am in some ways) that too many references is always preferable to too few and people can sort them out later. When I've got broadband of my own once more, I'll have a look at it again and try to add a development section (I never really got around to that and the link you gave me is blocked on this computer). Thank you for assessing the Saw game article. I was wondering if the given the article's current quality, in addition to the expanded characters, plot, and reception sections after release, if this article would be worthy of at least a B class? GroundZ3R0 002 (talk) 20:52, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Disambiguation

Hello. I noticed that you're working with lots of video game titles. Looks really good. Just a note when you add one of the titles to a disambiguation page... Just make sure that if the item is a redlink there is a (blue) link in the entry that a person could click on that mentions the item.

In other words, we don't want to put items on disambiguation pages that don't have something to click on that provides further information.

Sorry if this is confusing. I'm still on my first cup of coffee. Well you can see what I did on the Pandora (disambiguation) page. I changed the link from Commodore 64 to List of Commodore 64 games (N–Z) because there wasn't any further information about Pandora on Commodore 64.

More information about this is at MOS:DABRL. Thanks for your time. Dawnseeker2000 17:40, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Merges and redirects

As with the Paper Mario characters my primary concern is information just being lost altogether or when new sources are available, forcing editors to start over from scratch. Thus, in such cases as Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Blade (Masters of the Universe) and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Icer, might you please reconsider and join me in compromising, i.e. at least supporting a redirect to List of Masters of the Universe characters? Trying to find sources for the former is a challenge, because "blade" keeps getting sword hits, but for the latter at least, he did apparently get a toy in addition to appearing on the show and so I do think we could salvage something. For example, if we can find a source to verify the following, it would be worth including in the character list: "Voiced by John Erwin in a cold, monotonous voice, which makes for an interesting contrast with his surprisingly witty and often humorous dialogue." "Icer is notable as being one of the few warriors in the series to have been created by the writers of Filmation rather than based on one of Mattel's action figures upon which the show is based." Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, --A NobodyMy talk 01:50, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

It's not quite that clean-cut for me, for minor characters at least. Any major character or even a recurring character with genuine roles is worth redirecting, in principle, because someone else could come along with sources nobody else has access to or new sources of information may appear (as time goes on we seem to be getting more and more quality sites like allgame and magazines like Retrogamer). With minor characters there's the question of whether they would actually belong in a character list at all, let alone whether we could source them or not. With Blade he could be redirected to Masters of the Universe (film), since film articles have fairly extensive actor credits when they're fully developed. The problem with Icer is that he is a geninely minor one-shot character, put together by filmation for a single episode. If reliable episode guides were available his role could be covered in the synopsis of that particular episode within a list, rather than a character list, which wouldn't require the Icer article. I will change my !vote on blade accordingly. Someoneanother 02:17, 23 February 2010 (UTC)
