Reliable sources

I have reverted your edits to Delta's LAX-GRU service on both airports articles because the source was the Airliners.net forums. Web forums are not considered reliable sources by Wikipedia standards and cannot be used to cite information on Wikipedia articles. MSFS Podcast Section

Gare des Invalides

In regards to the Gare vs. Aerogare I found Commons:Category:Gare_des_Invalides - Someone before me had put a pic of the Aerogare in the category before I put some that I had taken myself. Should I move the aerogare pics to a new category? WhisperToMe (talk) 19:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)

Paris BVA

Paris has 3 major airports. Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Paris-Orly and Paris-Beauvais. Even though BVA is 85km North of Pairs it is still part of the Pairs Airport System. The offical name of the airport has Paris in it's logo.

It is just like London-Luton, London-Gatwick, London-Luton, London-Heatorw, London-City & London-Southend. Even though they are closer to London.Jamie2k9 (talk) 22:51, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

Continental to CDG-IAD

However, http://airlineroute.net/2011/02/12/uaco-s11-europe/ states that IAD-CDG and IAD-AMS will be operated by CO. I thnk it should appear on their website soon (i would give it a couple of days to let CO update the flight into their system). Snoozlepet (talk) 03:41, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

EasyJet fleet

Regarding the fleet details in the EasyJet article, please note that the fleet table (or indeed any referenced information on a Wikipedia page) must match the quoted reference. The CAA database will be updated in time, usually quite quickly, and then the page can be updated. Otherwise you must provide a new reliable source. Please discuss before changing. Thanks. Sorry for over-writing your edits to the orders column per Airbus O&D, missed that. The CAA reference though is still the best authoritative fleet source for UK airline articles and is far preferred over the references you provided which are very useful, but nonetheless unofficial. It's also the reason we use the official Irish fleet database as a fleet source for the Ryanair article, despite it being updated far less frequently than the CAA one (which is updated daily on weekdays). I have no problem with including the basic fleet of EasyJet Switzerland in the text split between A319 and A320 types, but have amended the wording to make it clear these aircraft are in addition to the EasyJet fleet as I think the current sentence suggests they are included in the table which is not that case. City of Derry Airport

Please do not continue to revert it's name to "Prestwick", every airport that flies to it has it's destination as Glasgow - Prestwick. That's over 25 destinations and would be contested if you tried to edit them. The very fact that you contest it only on the City of Derry Airport is pointy to say the least.

If you revert again you will be in violation of 3RR.

Delta operating flights between Paris and Seattle

Paris CDG cargo traffic

According to official data from Fraport (http://www.fraport.com/content/fraport-ag/en/press_center/news_releases/Fraport-Traffic-Figures-December-Full-Year-2011-FRA-Achieves-New-Passenger-Records.html) the Frankfurt airport had more cargo traffic than Paris CDG on 2011.

As the ACI haven't published the data of 2011 yet the information on World's busiest airports by cargo traffic is not updated yet.

So I have changed the information about cargo traffic in Paris CDG according to the official data from both airports. Vatse (talk) 12:46, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

China Eastern flights between Dalian and Paris

A user insists that china eastern operates flights between Dalian and Paris. After checking their website, it operates under the same flight number same plane but the flight passes thru a domestic hub as per WP:Airports we can't list such flights. I am not sure. Regards! Iceland Express

Iceland Express was not acquired by WOW air - in the sense that it continues to operate with WOW air as its parent company. It sold all its airline operations to WOW air but the company itself will not remain an airline and you will not see Iceland Express-marked aeroplanes from now on. The company will though continue to exist until it has negotiated with its creditors. Maybe it's not completely clear, given the fact that you can still book flights on the Iceland Express website, but if you can read Icelandic you will be further informed. I finally took a look at the alleged PDF schedule. Wow. How can anyone be that stupid? Clearly labeled were (1) It only happened between January 2 and January 5, (2) Stop: 1, (3) flight number repeats right above "Paris" in "New York JFK", (4) aircraft: 73H, and (5) it takes 17 hours. Regarding China Eastern at O'Hare

China Eastern is planning to fly to O'Hare from March 18, 2016 as per http://airlineroute.net/2015/11/11/mu-ord-mar16/ (the source states that the airline has opened reservations for this route) but it keeps getting removed from the destinations table and in the prospective flights section. @Jetstreamer: Since airlines don't always make announcements about new and cancelled routes, how do you source that exactly? New routes are available in the booking system of the airline, canceled routes are removed from the booking system of the airlines, but there's no way to reference directly into the airlines booking system. Also regarding this change, as my edit summary said, I just did some clean up: if you believe the terminal change was not accurate, remove it, don't just cancel my clean up of the article. And if you believe you can find sources for some edits, please add them. Mass reverting is not a constructive way of working together. Slasher-fun (talk) 08:49, 30 November 2015 (UTC)

I noticed that you've added new flights at Málaga Airport without citing a reliabe source, WP:AIRPORTS states: "For future destinations, add: "(begins date service begins)" after the destination. Starting dates must be provided with full date including the year and references should be provided." Air India Flight 173

Sorry, but I don't really think that orthodromic distance was anywhere in question before AI 173. The only thing that matters is the distance that the flight travels, and not the direct distance between 2 cities. Several examples:

1. In record flights, PIA flight should also not be there, as the direct distance was much smaller than 21000 km.

2. For QF-8 the direct distance is 8,024 miles but in the list, it's listed as 8,578 miles which is the route that it takes.

3. Similarly, for all the flights the distance is slightly more than perpendicular distance, but the actual distance that flight takes is considered. In cases of other flights, this is near the perpendicular distance but in case of AI 173, the actual distance is much more (over 15,100 KM or 2400 KM more than direct distance).

(Sorry for sounding a bit rude) but the word orthodromic was not in the article before yesterday, and it should not be there now either.

Therefore, I have reverted your edit. Thanks!

1. There is no PIA flight in the top-30 list

2. QF8 orthodromic distance is 8578 miles

3. There is no way to determine the exact real distance of a flight, as the flight path changes every day depending on the weather/wind.

All flights are currently listed according to their orthodromic distance, I was just expliciting that.

Please acknowledge those facts so that your changes can be reverted. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Hi @Slasher-fun:, I see that a lot of Air India entries have been removed from the longest non-stop flight page. I can also see that you have taken great circle distance or orthodromic distance, a theoretical figure, as the standard for measuring flight length. Please provide a reliable source, it could be any individual or organization related to civil aviation and recognized worldwide, that could state in writing that the actual distance covered by a flight does not matter. I have gone through your entries on the talk page and (respectfully) disagree with all of them. We cannot be accounting for world records based on theoretical values. If we must use the great circle distance, then can we also measure the length of certain historical flights like "Solar Impulse" by their orthodromic distance? Please be unbiased and objective in your approach. The removal of AI 173 is uncalled for. Hi @202.142.121.173:. The page Non-stop flight list the longest commercial flights according to their orthodromic distance. I did not decide that on myself, the Wikipedia community of contributors did. Why? I see two main reasons: the orthodromic distance doesn't change over the time, while the actual distance flown changes at every flight, and people fly to travel from A to B, two places separated by a certain distance, they don't fly to travel a certain actual flown distance. Hi! Im FlyingScotsman72 and I undid when you took away the information about the the longest train from Moscow to Pyongyang. I can understand why you would not want it to be in the top table because it goes between two countrys BUT, where do I put it if its between two countrys and the longest in the world? Please reply!

P.S Also, one of the points of wikipedia is that people can come on here to find information quickly. If you look at the russian timetable, this train is actually not a train, but a single car that is carried first with the Moscow-Vladivostok train to Ussuriysk (you may notice those two trains have the same number), then to Tumangan, where it stays 7 hours before finally reaching North Korea with the Tumangan-Pyongyang train. The copyright issue was with the logo, which was a direct download from the TAP site without a fair use rationale. As for the name change, unless it has been announced and has a citation (not an "example of use on their website") then it should not be changed here. There was an official change of name in 2005, press release, the whole nine yards. Wikipedia cannot make such a name change on our own without a source to counter it. How do you know airlines changed terminals at CDG?

Hi!

I've seen a recent edit that you changed some airlines' terminals at Charles de Gaulle Airport. I wondered how you know these terminal changes, for example, Air Canada and Norwegain Air Shuttle moving out of Terminal 1 for 2B and 2D respectively and Air Serbia, Air Tahiti Nui and easyJet also relocating operations from Terminal 2B to 2D. Previously, Air Canada did not publish the move from 1 to 2B on their website and you know they moved to 2B. Can you cite a source to proof you are right? Charles de Gaulle Airport Issue

I want to talk about an issue about what happened with the Charles de Gaulle Airport wikipedia page. 4 Star Alliance airlines never moved to CDG Terminal 1 when it reopened in December 2022: Air China, Ethiopian Airlines, Thai Airways International (all currently at Terminal 2E) and Croatia Airlines (was at Terminal 2B before 18 April 2023, but currently at 2D) (although Air China and Thai Airways used Terminal 1 prior to the pandemic but did not plan to move back when it reopened). An anonymous IP removed this information and only made one CDG Star Alliance exception. Should we block this user? I've added a source of which Star Alliance carriers moved back to Terminal 1.
