Tigers Template edit

I have reverted your change to add colour to the template. Long term consensus within the Rugby union Wikiproject is to use standard wikipedia navbox colours rather than club colours. noq (talk) 14:33, 21 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Leicester Tigers edit

I am not vandalising anything and don't make a big thing out of it. I rework and balance out current squad pages for those top professional rugby squads. That's it. They play at any position that is on their wiki pages. NikeCage68 (talk) 17:26, 23 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

John Jackett - Falmouth and Leicester edit

Hi, I'm thinking of showing Jackett as both a Falmouth and Leicester player for the 1906 and 1907 Home Nations games. John Griffiths' Book of England International rugby lists him as being solely a Falmouth player for those games and notes for the NZ game in 1905 "Jackett became the first player capped direct from Falmouth club". For his 1909 games Jackett is listed as Falmouth/Leicester. It looks a bit ambiguous as I can see on Jackett's article that you've got a citation for him joining Leicester in 1904 and playing seven years for the club, so I assume he played variably for both clubs during the period as well as representing the Cornwall county side. For the 1908 Anglo-Welsh tour, Clem Thomas's History of the British & Irish Lions also gives him as a Falmouth player only. Any thoughts? --Bcp67 (talk) 10:48, 1 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. No doubt Jackett would be amazed if he could know that his career was being discussed more than 100 years after he played for England! Happy enough to leave things as they are - as you say, circumstances were different back then and he was associated with both clubs, possibly at the same time, and the link leads to his article where readers can find out more about him. All the best! --Bcp67 (talk) 21:50, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation edit

Hi, it's great to see someone take an interest and keep articles like 2016–17 English Premiership (rugby union) up to date (even if it's the wrong code :-) ) but can you please make sure the links point to the right place George Ford, Billy Burns and Joe Marchant are all disambiguation pages so the right one needs to be selected. Can I recommend one of these disambiguation tools as a great help in checking whether links needs disambiguating or not. Thanks. Nthep (talk) 12:01, 29 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 3 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Leicester Tigers, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Memorial Stadium and Martin Corry. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Leicester Tigers edit

Given how much information was in the article, the Start class rating didn’t really apply any more. I thought a higher class rating was a no brainer, so I moved it up to a C. Do you think it deserves a different grade? CUA 27 (talk) 19:42, 25 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Overall the article is in decent shape, one of the better rugby club articles out there. Congrats on your hard work. Since you asked for feedback, here are some further thoughts:

  • I tagged the lead. It reads as fanboy stuff. I’d suggest tone down the accolades, and insert some plain vanilla facts.
  • I didn’t like the fact that the Honors section comes first. For the same reason as above. I suggest moving it further down the article.
  • The History section is quite long. I suggest trimming to 1/3 or 1/4 the length, and move more info to the linked History of Leicester Tigers article if it’s not there already.
  • The Season Summary table could be improved. Too much colour, and too much repetition of the name of the competition (we don’t need to repeat Premiership or Heineken Cup twelve times.
  • The Notable Players section with eight subsections, including many lists and tables and many many flags, is far too much. I’d suggest creating a separate article called “Leicester Tigers players” or something like that, dump a lot of these tables into that article, leaving the main article with no more than 2-3 list of the very best players.

I would make some of these changes myself, but I don’t know how they would be received, which is why I offer them as suggestions. Overall, as I said at the outset, there is a lot of useful information in here, but if you are looking to improve it further, look for ways to reduce some of what’s there, in particular the lists and tables with an overload of names, colours, and flags. CUA 27 (talk) 20:09, 25 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Some other ideas on things to add — There is no text re any affiliate teams (eg, the A-side, any youth or U-20 team, any women’s team?). I don’t know how many affiliate teams there are, but if there are some, then perhaps a brief section with one short paragraph re the more notable of the affiliate teams. If more ideas occur to me on items to add I will pass them along, but I doubt I will have much given the article is mostly complete already. CUA 27 (talk) 02:38, 28 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

File:Premiership Rugby Logo 2018.jpg edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:20, 2 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image File:Premiership Rugby Logo 2018.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Premiership Rugby Logo 2018.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 17:37, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Saracens F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Richard Wigglesworth (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Rugby numbering schemes edit

Since you asked, here is the World Rugby regulation regarding the numbering of players according to their position. As you can see, it is at the very least recommended by World Rugby that the "left flanker" wear number 6 and the "right flanker" wear number 7. There doesn't seem to be a distinction regarding which is the openside and which the blindside. That, I assume, is how South Africa get away with swimming against the tide of every other international team. – PeeJay 15:46, 22 November 2019 (UTC)Reply

Re: Mat Protheroe edit

I'm not sure I agree. While he may self-identify as Welsh, he has played international rugby for England, which makes this more controversial. – PeeJay 15:59, 27 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
