Edzard Ernst

Scientizzle, do you want to defend the delete of the Vickers criticism on the Ernst page, which I think is an entirely valid, well researched one in a respected journal. Thanks, Babski.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Babski (talkcontribs)

I didn't delete it. As you can see here, I re-worded it some and moved it to the underpopulated "Criticisms" section. I also formatted the journal citation but removed the link to Vickers' web bio (as it isn't necessary). I didn't keep all of the quotations because, frankly, the "hot flashes in men with prostate cancer" comment was largely tangential without its relevant context, and overall probably completely unnecessary for the delivery of Vickers' salient criticisms. — Scientizzle 20:30, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Steve James Sherlock

Hi - Please help - I have made more additions to the SJS page. Looking at the notability issue - I can't see there being a problem. However, I would like your critical eye to look into this. When the page was first deleted there were issues around establishing 'Notability'. I have spent time and effort to justify this and consequently this research has meant many changes to original deleted page. You have been very helpful in the past. I would like the article moved back into the Wikipedia? Many thanks (81.157.187.70 (talk) 13:36, 23 October 2011 (UTC))

Heartland Communications Group LLC (deleted page)

I was wondering if it would be possible to have the article restored to my userspace(page: Heartland Communications Group LLC). Reason: so I can work on it in the attempt to address the problems that led to deletion = non-neutral text and lack of notability. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bill davidson789 (talkcontribs) 16:41, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I missed this...You want me to restore Heartland Communications Group, LLC? Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Heartland Communications Group, LLC was pretty straightforward but I'd be happy to restore to your userspace. However, since it's been a month since you've edited, I'd like to make sure that I'm not restoring it to a dead account. Leave me a new message and I'll move the content to User:Bill davidson789/Heartland Communications Group, LLC. — Scientizzle 12:31, 30 May 2012 (UTC)

If you'll review Wikipedia:External links, you'll find the basis for my actions. Simply put, your links are to an inconsequential website of dubious merit which promotes unscientific treatment of Chikungunya. Furthermore, pilot studies of any treatment--even if they weren't complete pseudoscience--are never appropriate for inclusion in scientific and medical articles. You have spammed this site before. Don't do it again. — Scientizzle 12:58, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

What is biased here?

WHAT IS BIASED ABOUT THIS EDIT BELOW:

Please point it out, the new content has been changed and includes no bias.

If it is biased point it out and stop removing it and simply stating that you think it is biased, why not have others look at before you remove it to determine if it is biased.

[Additional redundant comments and cut-and-paste of two whole articles removed for organizational clarity]— Preceding unsigned comment added by 10dimensions (talkcontribs)

There are multiple problems with your wholesale changes as well as your attitude thus far. While not all of your suggested changes are problematic, there is enough concerning content to justify complete reversion to the prior article state. Some of the issues involve giving undue weight to claims that are not generally accepted by the scientific community. Others involve the synthesis of primary sources to come to conclusions that are not acceptable to our policy on original research. Finally, edit warring and calling other editors ignoramuses is not conducive to collaborative editing and will result in a short tenure on this site. Please take the time to go through the welcome message I left on your talk page so you can better understand the framework in which we are all supposed to work. — Scientizzle 15:30, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Hilary Duff

I just recently made a few edits to Hilary Duff's discography and i believed your responsible for moving them. I understand why though, i didn't provide an edit summary. Well, i basically deleted those items because they weren't prominent releases or prominent aspects that are necessary to HD's discography page. I am a huge fan of her's and basically just wanted to help clean the page a little so that it's easier to look for things as opposed to scrambling through things that were not vital releases and aspects of her musical career. Now that I've explained my motives, could you perhaps possibly re-publish my edits? It would be very appreciated. =)

And as for deleting the peak positions for Reach Out and Stranger, i did that because any position lower than 100 is not at all important or necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.220.117.190 (talk) 19:18, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Well, let's see...your userpage is actually User:Cardiologydoc. I'm sure that's an alternate account of C. Michael Gibson (talk · contribs). However, I stumbled across the contributions of Cardiologydoc (talk · contribs) today when you were adding content to User:C Michael Gibson (note the lack of a period). You have three accounts. They don't all need your resume. Should you like to pick one, I'll be happy to move userpage content to the appropriate place. I'd also be willing to block any accounts you're not going to use and leave redirects to the one you like. — Scientizzle 20:42, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

If you could redirect them to User:C. Michael Gibson that would be great! I forgot my password for User:C. Michael Gibson — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cardiologydoc (talkcontribs)

Just to be clear: you want me to move your deleted CV from User:C Michael Gibson (the page you were editing today) to User:Cardiologydoc, right?
2nd question: have you lost the password to both User:C. Michael Gibson (with period) and User:C Michael Gibson (no period)? If you have, I will block these accounts to remove any hacking risk given it's your name and all. — Scientizzle 20:54, 17 August 2012 (UTC)

Agenda 21 tinfoilhattery

Hi,

I note your comment that I was presenting an un-balanced view which just constituted opinion.

I would like to point out to you that my 'personal' view is shared by the overwhelming majority of the population of Hartlebury, Hartlebury Common.

If the views which were deleted earlier at the request of the local authority so wrong, they have never been able to counter them.

I enclose this document for you, sorry for it's length, which explains the frustration of the REAL truth, not the one presented simplisticly

by the local authority, worcestershire county council.

Is Wikipedia here to represent TRUE facts until countered, or does it just allow corrupt officials to say..

"steve McCarron is just biased" and get away with it?????

Best wishes

Steve McCarron

PS, and yes, agenda 21 is being abused in this country to create artificial employment.

Please help!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gimpvision (talkcontribs) 16:13, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. First things first, the content formerly at User:Gimpvision was deleted via Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Gimpvision. The content was highly promotional in tone and wasn't appropriate for a Wikipedia article. That said, it's possible the subject of the page may warrant an article if that subject meets a minimum notability guideline for musicians. Read that guideline and honestly evaluate whether that's the case.
If you're absolutely convinced the subject will meet that notability guideline, and you're willing to trim the content waaay back to only the essential facts, I'll help you by moving the deleted content to the Wikipedia:Article Incubator where it can be further developed and evaluated by other experienced editors.
One more thing: Wikipedia policy does not permit the sharing of accounts or of promotional accounts. Wikipedia also has conflict-of-interest guidelines that you should also read--see the notices left of your page. Pick one person to run the account and ask for a name change to avoid any further problems. — Scientizzle 16:40, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi,
Thanks for the note. I see you've brought up your concerns before about the Nicole LeFavour article. There hasn't been much change since then... However, while there's certainly some fluff, it's not as bad as I've seen. (While Kencf0618 (talk · contribs) is associated with LeFavour's campaign, most of that's editor's changes have been perfectly fine. I already made one set of mostly maintenance edits, but I'll do some trimming. You should bring up specific concerns on the talk page, Talk:Nicole LeFavour. Mao (Card Game) Rules section

The objective of Mao as a game is for the players to become confused, annoyed and even angry with the grandmaster, this pushes the player to learn the rules through trial and error and feel accomplished when they win a game or eventually become a grandmaster themselves. The rules section of this page; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mao_(card_game), completely negates that. It removes the need of the player to replay games to become good and offers the easy route, this has been a very difficult for grandmasters, such as myself, to cope with as there is an increase in the knowledge of the game. As It is a game of secrets I would kindly ask that you remove all but the public rules from this article as it takes away from a key element of the game.

I assume you mean Frederick Blackburn (North Carolina). That page was deleted January 15, 2010. It was an expired proposed deletion. BrownHairedGirl (talk · contribs), who originally created the article, nominated it for deletion for this reason: " It appears that created this 3½ years ago, but I dunno why. Erhan Karahan - Deletion

Hi Scientizzle,

My page was deleted a couple of years ago (6th May 2010). Name: Erhan Karahan Reason listed for deletion: Article about footballer who hasn't played in a fully-pro league and which fails the general notability guideline.

The page was done by someone else. However, the information on it is accurate. All clubs quoted are Fully Professional and the final club overseas competes at the Highest Level of European Football with caps in the FIFA UEFA Cup.

I was wondering if it could please be reactivated.

Hartlebury Common

Hi I have just amended the entry for Hartlebury Common.

It is fair that opposition to the miss-appropriation of the public's space be mentioned in the entry, which I have done.

I do not think it is fair that an unbalanced and unrepresentative view is only allowed to exist because a vociferous government body insists it should be that way.

The local authority have assumed rights of ownership to the public's space to which they have none.

We have 2800 signatures from the public locally who are opposed to the destruction of our common by the local authority.

Hi

I'm sending this message in regards to a certain article you created a while ago on wikipedia that no longer exists. I think it was written as a joke or perhaps you had another reason in mind. It was about a common acquaintance of ours; her name is Marta. She recently found out by accident that this article had been backed-up on a site called speedydeletion. She was a little worried about it, even though you possibly had good intentions and you thought it would be funny or something. I think I have the right person here, so please contact me back, or even better, contact her and explain what all of this was about.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wickedmike (talkcontribs) 14:23, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

I haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about. It's possible I deleted an article that was a joke or otherwise inappropriate vandalism, but I'm not one to create something like that. Wikipedia can't really control the content of some other site, so you'd have to take it up with them. Without more information, I can't point you in the right direction for anything on Wikipedia. What was the actual name of the article? — Scientizzle 14:34, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Sorry to waste your time. speedydeletion pointed me in your direction, it probably got the wrong metadata for the article. It didn't quite fit your profile, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I checked out the deletion log and found out that it was someone else who created it, and my friend identified the user name as belonging to a distant friend of hers. Again, really sorry for this. She was pretty worried so I just wanted to get to the bottom of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wickedmike (talkcontribs) 14:55, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Hamid Aboutalebi

Hi, I noticed that you added some unfounded claims about Hamid Aboutalebi to his Article in Wikipedia, what you have added is some claims from some newspapers without any legal affiliation. Since this article is a sort of biography as identified by wikipedia and items with poor resources should be immediately removed i tried to remove it a couple of times thinking it might have been a mistake but if it continues i will report it to the board of wikipedia. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cherabtidare (talkcontribs) 17:23, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Hamid Aboutalebi is a new article that will get a lot of attention based on reports such as these from major international news sources: [2][3][4][5]. Keeping that information out by violating WP:3RR isn't going to work... — Scientizzle 17:32, 8 April 2014 (UTC)

Template:Userblock

Can you unprotect Template:Userblock, or at least reduce it to semi? It only has 935 transclusions, so it's not really highly visible. Jackmcbarn (talk) 16:42, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay...I'm not around much these days. I've reduced the protection to allow templateeditors such as yourself. — Scientizzle 17:40, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Spotlight - Simplified article translation

Wikiproject Medicine started translating simplified articles in February 2014. We now have 45 simplified articles ready for translation, of which the first on African trypanosomiasis or sleeping sickness has been translated into 46 out of ~100 languages. This list does not include the 33 additional articles that are available in both full and simple versions.

Our goal is to eventually translate 1,000 simplified articles. This includes:

We are looking for subject area leads to both create articles and recruit further editors. We need people with basic medical knowledge who are willing to help out. This includes to write, translate and especially integrate medical articles.

What's happening?

CFCF - "IEG beneficiary" and editor of this newsletter.

I've (CFCF) taken on the role of community organizer for this project, and will be working with this until December. The goals and timeline can be found here, and are focused on getting the project on a firm footing and to enable me to work near full-time over the summer, and part-time during the rest of the year. This means I will be available for questions and ideas, and you can best reach me by mail or on my talk page.

Wikimania 2014

For those going to London in a month's time (or those already nearby) there will be at least one event for all medical editors, on Thursday August 7th. See the event page, which also summarizes medicine-related presentations in the main conference. Please pass the word on to your local medical editors.

Integration progress

There has previously been some resistance against translation into certain languages with strong Wikipedia presence, such as Dutch, Polish, and Swedish.
What was found is that thre is hardly any negative opinion about the the project itself; and any such critique has focused on the ways that articles have being integrated. For an article to be usefully translated into a target-Wiki it needs to be properly Wiki-linked, carry proper citations and use the formatting of the chosen target language as well as being properly proof-read. Certain large Wikis such as the Polish and Dutch Wikis have strong traditions of medical content, with their own editorial system, own templates and different ideas about what constitutes a good medical article. For example, there are not MEDRS (Polish,German,Romanian,Persian) guidelines present on other Wikis, and some Wikis have a stronger background of country-specific content.

  • Swedish
Translation into Swedish has been difficult in part because of the amount of free, high quality sources out there already: patient info, for professionals. The same can be said for English, but has really given us all the more reason to try and create an unbiased and free encyclopedia of medical content. We want Wikipedia to act as an alternative to commercial sources, and preferably a really good one at that.
Through extensive collaborative work and by respecting links and Sweden specific content the last unintegrated Swedish translation went live in May.
  • Dutch
Dutch translation carries with it special difficulties, in part due to the premises in which the Dutch Wikipedia is built upon. There is great respect for what previous editors have created, and deleting or replacing old content can be frowned upon. In spite of this there are success stories: Anafylaxie.
  • Polish
Translation and integration into Polish also comes with its own unique set of challenges. The Polish Wikipedia has long been independent and works very hard to create high quality contentfor Polish audience. Previous translation trouble has lead to use of unique templates with unique formatting, not least among citations. Add to this that the Polish Wikipedia does not allow template redirects and a large body of work is required for each article.
(This is somewhat alleviated by a commissioned Template bot - to be released). - List of articles for integration
  • Arabic
The Arabic Wikipedia community has been informed of the efforts to integrate content through both the general talk-page as well as through one of the major Arabic Wikipedia facebook-groups: مجتمع ويكيبيديا العربي, something that has been heralded with great enthusiasm.
Integration guides

Integration is the next step after any translation. Despite this it is by no means trivial, and it comes with its own hardships and challenges. Previously each new integrator has needed to dive into the fray with little help from previous integrations. Therefore we are creating guides for specific Wikis that make integration simple and straightforward, with guides for specific languages, and for integrating on small Wikis.

Instructions on how to integrate an article may be found here [8]

Requesting Undeletion of Michael David Crawford Article

I just now read most of the comments in the 2007 discussion of deleting Thomas Hard's article about me. I'd like to request that a new article be written. (I won't be so presumptuous as to write it myself.)

I've known Thomas Hard for quite a long time. Although he can be a good writer he is quite often impulsive. His writing really is not the neutral POV that's required for an encyclopedia. Any such new article would be better were it to be written by someone other than him.

I'm puzzled that so many folks seemed to think that I'm only well-known at Kuro5hin. Actually my writing is quite widely known in the mental health as well as software development communities.

I should point out that I have some rabid haters at kuro5hin - k5 user "modus" is the worst of them, he spent actual money to place Google AdWords ads in an effort to make me unemployable. My guess is that modus is the anonymous IP that kept arguing so vehemently for deletion. What he's been doing to me ever since I pointed out that I'd rather be composing music than writing software is quite clearly felony cyberstalking, but I'd really rather give _him_ grief at k5 than report him to the legal authorities. This because I agree very strongly with the statement that "The best solution to hate speech is more speech".

However few mental health practitioners publish online; you're not going to see them linking my articles. But I do receive a great deal of email from psychiatrists, psychologists, psych nurses, social workers, other mentally ill folk as well as their friends and loved ones. For example "Living with Schizoaffective Disorder" was able to bring some closure to a grieving mother whose teenage son wiped his hard drive then committed suicide for no apparent reason.

It really is the case that LwSD is - or was at least at one time - on a reading list that the State of California distributes to its county mental health clinics.

I stopped keeping count after receiving roughly 20,000 emails as a result of my mental illness essays.

It really is the case, as Thomas Hard asserted, that for a number of years just one of my essays - Links to Tens of Thousands of Legal Music Downloads got 150,000 hits per month. That essay isn't just a link dump, rather it discusses the history of copyright law in the US, as well as how civil disobedience could be applied towards loosening the restrictions that copyright imposes.

It was translated to Romanian by Emmanuel Ciprian Mihet.

The last few years I've been in the psych hospital as well as jail quite a few times, largely as a result of my efforts to look after my similarly mentally ill mother in her old age - I won't get into the reasons just now but she likes to have me arrested. That resulted in my inability to pay for the renewal of some of my domain names. I'm (slowly) putting all of my stuff back up at http://www.warplife.com/mdc/essays/ , http://www.warplife.com/mdc/books/ , http://www.warplife.com/jonathan-swift/books/ and http://www.warplife.com/tips/ It's not all there yet but I've been getting a little more diligent about reposting it lately.

My new personal homepage is at http://www.warplife.com/mdc/

As a result of my software development for Zaxcom, their Deva line of professional wireless audio recorders have received several prestigious awards. My work for Wiebetech enables James Wiebe to sell his company to a competitor in the storage business, as well as funded his new venture, a graphite-epoxy ultralight aircraft company.

I should also point out that it's not my responsibility to do the job of the Wikipedia editors. If you want to find my work cited in a dead-tree publication, how about setting foot in an actual library? Mac User, MacWorld, MacWeek, Astrophysical Journal and Physics Letters B.

There's more I could say but I think this is enough to begin the discussion.

Thanks for your help!

Notification of pending suspension of administrative permissions due to inactivity

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative permissions of users who have been inactive for one year (i.e. administrators who have not made any edits or logged actions in more than one year). As a result of this discussion, your administrative permissions will be removed pending your return if you do not return to activity within the next month. If you wish to have these permissions reinstated should this occur, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e. as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised, that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions, and that you have not been inactive for a three-year period of time). If you remain inactive for a three-year period of time, including the present year you have been inactive, you will need to request reinstatement at WP:RFA. This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. For the Election committee, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:41, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Misconceptions about HIV/AIDS article

I have correct one point of your article. It reported that sex with animals have small risk, but as per medical feedback there isn't risk (HIV can not transmitted from animals to human). Please let me know if you have different feedback from your side and which is. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.19.132.47 (talk) 16:37, 16 March 2019 (UTC)
