Puppy, I strongly support this article, and find that while you can certainly add more sources, those that you show aren't as problematic as Tokyogirl79 found them to be. Just because Kappa Sig claims a chapter, doesn't mean that is an unacceptable 'biased' source. You might look for an online reference of UVA yearbooks, and occasional citations from newspapers of events of historical interest noting various chapters. Also, maximize your use of Baird's manual. It's widely accepted on Greek pages as a premier reference (though I have found occasional mistakes in the 1991 version. Additionally, I did not find Peacock words, as mentioned might be a lurking criticism. Hang in there, and keep adding sources. We need more pages like this. I wrote similar pages for the University of Minnesota and Cornell University. Yours will become highly trafficked, and valuable for readers. Jax MN (talk) 02:05, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your support, Jax MN. I spoke with Tokyogirl79 and addressed the issues she had with the article (which I think were valid concerns). It mainly had to do with adding extra sources to ensure that the article won't be brought up for deletion after it's created. The article has been accepted, and I'll continue to improve it where possible. Puppysnot (talk) 03:57, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Virginia Breweries edit

Hi! I appreciate all the hard work you've put into reorganizing the List of breweries in Virginia page. God knows we can use all the help we can get at WP:WikiProject_Beer. But none of the breweries list are sourced in any way. They're likely to be deleted from the listing, as per WP:ListBrew. Are you planning to go back and add references? Prof. Mc (talk) 21:24, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

I like what you've got going in your sandbox. What do you think about holding off on the changes you introduced to the main "LoBiV" page until you can do something like you've done in the sandbox? That has lots of information, as well as the necessary references. Prof. Mc (talk) 21:30, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hey Prof. Mc! Thanks for the feedback, I didn't realize anyone was watching the page. I actually did a project last semester that involved compiling a list of VA breweries, so I thought I'd add it to the page. I didn't realize we needed a source for each entry--they were all sourced from a craft beer magazine I picked up at Devils Backbone brewery, and I can better cite the source soon. I can put some work into developing a table-style list that has more info and better references, but that would take some time. Puppysnot (talk) 23:37, 6 September 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Puppysnot! Actually there are quite a few of us who keep an eye on the various beer pages, and usually the "List" pages get reverted almost right away. In general a good source is a newspaper article or a news story of some kind. Craft beer magazines are good if it's a story about the brewer rather than just a "list of." The idea is to ensure that the brewries are somewhat "notable"--that they exist, that they aren't temporary, and that they are known in their area. As I said, I'm glad to see this expanded. But I'm worried it might get reverted. You might want to do one of a couple of things. You could post something to the talk page to the effect that you're working on it. That might slow down the revert. You could paste the code to your sandbox and work on it there. Or you could wait and see. Whatever the case, again, I'm glad to see the expansion. Sunken City Brewery outside of Moneta [about a mile from the shooting last week] is one of my "locals," and Virginia's got some great unknown breweries.
Also, you might stop by the Wiki Beer Project and add your name to the list of participants. Prof. Mc (talk) 00:07, 7 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

University of Virginia Greek life edit

For the references for the inactive chapters at UVA to the 1920 Baird's please either separate them out, or combine all and drop page numbers. I believe you have a number of the inactives referenced to the page specifically for Pi Kappa Alpha. (Yes, I went and checked my personal copy of the 1920 Baird's. :) )Naraht (talk) 19:46, 1 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Yep, I corrected the page numbers. I might pull out the main references (Baird, Dabney, Bruce, etc.) in a "Bibliography" or "Sources Cited" section, but I'd have to look into the correct way to do that... Puppysnot (talk) 04:01, 2 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
