ITN Administrator category edit

I created the category Category:Wikipedia in the news frequent administrators. As you have experience in ITN and ITN-related matters, I invite you to add your name there. The purpose is so if a non-admin (such as myself) needs an administrator to add, modify, or remove an item, you have experience in this area. Thanks, SpencerT♦C 01:36, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

You have received this automated delivery because your name was on the invite list. BrownBot (talk) 20:26, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Brooklyn Repertory Opera edit

I started a page, but I couldn't find many hits other than to people's resumes. I know their shows have been reviewed in The Brooklyn Paper. I was hesistant to write it, because I didn't want it to get speedy-deleted, but that still may happen. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 03:41, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

P.S.: "Mancub" gets 83,200 hits on Google. "Axejob" gets only 19.

It already has a notability tag, so I pasted it to my sandbox. --Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 15:19, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deadlink trouble edit

Hi Pharos, hope you're well. Thanks again for all your help. Sorry to bother you but I was wondering if you could help me track down some deadlinks.

I've directly quoted this, and I don't think I'll find a better one. Is it possible to locate this in an internet archive?

ditto [2]. Chicago Tribune appears to have deleted this.

The HP Lexicon What's New section has a link to a 2007 archive but no 2007 archive. I really want this quote, so could it be found in an internet archive?

Thanks again. Serendipodous 08:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow! Great! Thanks. I wasn't sure if I'd catch you, since you seem to be on semi-wikibreak, but it's great to see you again. Don't worry about the Tribune article; I found an archive link for it. Serendipodous 22:50, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
  The Original Barnstar
That bit of research you did blew Planets beyond Neptune wide open and moved it to a whole new level -unfortunately it was already featured :)- so until they invent a researcher's barnstar, I'll have to make do with giving you this. Serendipodous 14:55, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think the best solution would be for Wikipedia to find some way to upload your brain onto its network. Serendipodous 16:30, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

I would like to improve this artcle rather than starting it from scratch. It is notable because it is Michael Nyman's second album, and leaves a big red link on {{Michael Nyman}}.--Scottandrewhutchins (talk) 14:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

WT Manhattan 2 edit

Which location are you gonna be at, so if I do come saturday, I have an idea where to go.Mitch32(UP) 16:56, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'll probably be at the starting point at TOPP downtown, because the Columbia people will probably handle Columbia best. I'll update you if plans change. Hope to see you there, and bring a friend (or two)!--Pharos (talk) 17:14, 21 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Have another question - Do you think we should add subway stations to our list? It may be a cool addition, since we have a lot of subway station articles :) - Mitch32(UP) 13:49, 1 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, but I probably won't be there. I need to devote more time to other things, and getting to Manhattan is not something I'm currently capable of doing often. Nightscream (talk) 23:24, 25 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request to add Unphotographed National Historic Sites to the Photo List edit

Hi Pharos: I would like to add photo requests for unphotographed List of Registered Historic Places in Manhattan below 14th Street, List of Registered Historic Places in Manhattan from 14th to 59th Streets, List of Registered Historic Places in Manhattan from 59th to 110th Streets, and List of Registered Historic Places in Manhattan above 110th Street, and List of Registered Historic Places in Manhattan on Islands.

All of the unphotographed structures are cool and interesting and would be wikipedia at its best to make a concerted effort to complete those lists. I'm not sure how this last minute request impacts your monitoring of the photos of the prizes but it would be cool. Plus an added bonus is there are google mashups that show the locations.

As a side note, my apologies for adding photos to your midtown list. I'm on a bit of an orgy trying to complete the midtown NHS list and when I hit pass the requested buildings I snap a photo. It's easier for me to post them now because if I wait I will forget. I can only do this before and after work so my daylight hours are quickly dwindling now. I think a lot of the buildings I'm snapping were on the list at the last meet up. If it's o.k. I can put a strike through on the midtown buildings.

Thanks. Americasroof (talk) 20:41, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

I see you nuked the NHS list. Americasroof (talk) 17:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it wasn't integrated into the main list, and with the deadline approaching, there just wasn't the time for me to do it. We should do it at the next event, though.--Pharos (talk) 18:39, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

WTM discussion on Commons edit

Just thought I'd let you know about the WTM related discussion on commons:Commons:Village pump#Commons:Wikis Take Manhattan and project scope and invite you to add any imput and opinions on the matter. I think it's probably a good idea to work out a satisfactory solution for all parts, on the upload side of the project, especially since Wikipedia Takes The City seems to be catching on =). /Lokal_Profil 15:51, 5 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wow, people on in above discussion are getting very heated. They need to learn patience. See you around. --Mblumber (talk) 03:50, 7 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Mollusk products category edit

HI Pharos, Just wanted to ask you if I am using this category as you had intended, when you created it 3 years ago. Clearly things like pearl and byssus are supposed to be in there I would imagine, but I am not sure all the others are "products of mollusks" in the sense you intended... Thanks for your attention, and very best to you, Invertzoo (talk) 23:11, 6 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Pharos. Thank you so much for your very kind words. If I am remembering correctly, I met you last year at the Wikipedia event in NYC, the part at the AMNH? Yes, I had wondered if you actually meant only those mollusk products that are useful to people. I don't really know if things like pseudofeces and love darts are can legitimately be called "products" at all. Certainly they are produced by mollusks, so they are indeed "products of mollusks", but maybe it is not quite legitimate to call them "mollusk products". To be honest, I don't mind if you take them out of that category altogether, that's OK with me, or if you create a subcategory for products of use to humans, as you suggested. I will respect whatever way you think is the best way to handle this. I just couldn't work out myself what was the right thing to do. Maybe they need to be in a new category such as mollusk anatomy or mollusk physiology or mollusk behavior or something. Best to you. Invertzoo (talk) 21:40, 10 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry about that edit

I was reading what you said, but I was unable to respond for 2 or 3 minutes. I posted a note at WT:Meetup/NYC about the potential date. Cheers, Enigma message 03:49, 8 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Huh? edit

If I remember correctly, I did not know there was a list, and so I created one. --harej 20:03, 12 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks edit

Thanks! Bit depressing, really. Sometimes I suppose there are reasons people don't go into details. I get the impression that the royal family had real problems there for a generation or two, over and above the normal child mortality. Probably a bit like the hemophiliac thing with Victoria's descendants. Carcharoth (talk) 00:01, 13 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi buddy, Nice to see you posted my nomination of Booker prize on the main page. I was expecting some kind of a souvenir like this for my collection. It would appreciate if you award me one for the same. --GPPande talk! 12:19, 16 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Skygazing edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Skygazing, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Category:Mollusc anatomy edit

Thanks Pharos, I think this Category is a really great idea! Thanks a bunch, not only for thinking of it, but for for setting it up and populating it! Eventually if it grows really big it can be divided into gastropod anatomy, bivalve anatomy, etc. Oh, and by the way, I don't know if I will make it to the Columbia meet-up, this is such a busy time of year, but at any rate, thanks for reminding me about it.
