Geograph images edit

You may not be aware that Geograph images actually have their own template that indicates the proper copyright licencing. You should add that together with the full description of the image as I have done for you with File:TarringHighStreet.JPG. It makes life much easier if uploaders will fill out all the info, so they don't need to be tagged as missing something. Cheers ww2censor (talk) 05:20, 6 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Worthing edit

Hi Peetred; thanks for your contributions to Worthing and subsidiary articles—they are proving to be very useful! As you may have noticed, I have recently started a major overhaul of the article. I've just noticed your creation of Connaught Theatre, which is looking good; after finishing St Mary's Church, Goring-by-Sea (which I have coincidentally just started) I shall expand it using the sources I have to addto hand. One thing I noticed: you refer to it as a listed building, but I can't find any record of that on English Heritage's Listed Buildings database or in Worthing Borough Council's official list. Do you have a reference suggesting it is listed? (It wouldn't surprise me if it was, but it will need further investigation if that is the case.) Let me know at my talk page. Anyway, for now, I'll upload a picture I took a few months ago to add to the infobox. Cheers, Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 21:03, 8 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi again – thanks for your note. For my question about the listing, I meant the Connaught, not St Mary's (sorry, my wording was rather vague). Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 14:07, 11 December 2009 (UTC)Reply
Just to let you know, I have nominated the Connaught Theatre article to appear on the Did You Know? section of the main page; if successful, the fact I've picked out (see here) will appear on the Main Page for a few hours, hopefully encouraging readers to "click through" and read the whole article. You'll receive a notification here if it is successful. (I found a useful source on Friday, and have added more info today.) Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 23:14, 13 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Titnore Wood edit

Hi – nice start on Titnore Wood; I may be able to expand further with info I have at home. Hassocks5489 (tickets please!) 12:33, 17 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

There was surprisingly little info in my various Worthing book sources at home, but I'm going to the library tomorrow so may be able to find more. In the meantime I've found some more online refs. We have enough of a start to merit a Did You Know? nomination, which if successful would hopefully drive further expansion and improvements. I'll see what I can do! Good work on Sussex dialect, by the way: that's one of my particular areas of interest, so it was interesting to see it appear. Again, I may have some more info in some of my books. License tagging for File:PinterAmbrose.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:PinterAmbrose.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 21:06, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Citation markup edit

Please take more care to get citation markup right. Every time you've edited Sussex recently, you've made basic markup errors and left them for somebody else to clean up. That's not polite, and it damages the usefulness of the article.

There's still a citation problem in Sussex that's going to need you to fix: when you added the section on Norman Sussex, you included two footnote markers saying <ref name="seward5"/>, but you provided no definition of "seward5". (There's a whopping great error message in large red letters in the references section. Do you not look after you add citations?) —Paul A (talk) 02:49, 16 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

You're right, that was impolite. I've been doing a lot of clean-up lately, and you got to be the straw that broke the camel's back. I'm sorry. —Paul A (talk) 01:25, 17 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Sussex Police and Crime Panel edit

The article Sussex Police and Crime Panel has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable local council committee. No evidence of awards, charting or in depth coverage in independent reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Worthing Downland Estate article edit

Hello, thanks for writing this article! I've checked and I can't find any use of this term, "Worthing Downland Estate", through searching Google Books or news articles - I just see mention of the land but it doesn't seem to have any specific name. The sources just call it "Cissbury Ring land", "Cissbury downland", "council land" or something generic like that. The only source I can find on Google that uses this name is a self-published blog.

Sorry for being so pedantic, but it's important to ensure we don't have misleading information or made-up words on Wikipedia. Blythwood (talk) 23:32, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hello Blythwood, thanks for your message, glad you read the article. This downland is close to, but not part of Cissbury - hence I think having Cissbury in the title would be misleading. It is however within the borough of Worthing and is owned by Worthing Borough Council - so I think "Worthing Downland" or "Worthing Downland Estate" is a more meaningful name for the land under discussion (c.f. Eastbourne Downland Estate) --Peetred (talk) 20:27, 3 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

"Semple 2013" edit

Hi Peetred, just over four years ago, in this edit of Kingdom of Sussex, you added references to a source "Semple 2013", but you did not add the item being cited – can you fix this? Looking online, I suspect you may have been citing Semple, S. (2013), Perceptions of the Prehistoric in Anglo-Saxon England [etc.], but if so I don't have access to this book – there's a preview at Google Books, but as usual it's not showing me the relevant pages. Thanks. Nortonius (talk) 16:08, 27 November 2018 (UTC) Hi Nortonius, yes this is the right book. Now updated. Thanks.Reply

Great, thank you! But, now that I look again, I notice that there's also a citation to "Semple 2003", at the end of the first sentence in the sub-section "Kingship" – sorry, I wish I'd noticed it before! Would I be right in guessing that this is a simple typo for another instance of "Semple 2013"? Cheers. Nortonius (talk) 20:45, 27 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
It looks like you spotted another typo here. The ref you found refers to the 2013 book, so I've corrected it. Thanks again.
