post Citi: Corbat hatnote edit

Having worked on the Citigroup Wiki article first, and seeing a hatnote atop Michael Corbat, a former Citi CEO (of whom til now never heard of), I'll give it a try. Nuts240 (talk) 15:30, 28 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Citigroup into Terra Securities scandal. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 14:06, 29 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

per above, added there: The June 28 edit summarized in part as "cites 2011 book" included text copied from Citigroup into Terra Securities scandal; see Citigroup for attribution. Nuts240 (talk) 04:30, 30 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sobo (app) moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Sobo (app), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. One option I've seen mentioned is to fold one article into another edit

In this case, Sobo (app), since it has become a once-upon-a-time, might fit better within the article titled Alan Braverman. Nuts240 (talk) 04:25, 18 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Fibber McGee and Molly, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Harlow Wilcox. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Pesticide topics edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in genetically modified organisms, commercially produced agricultural chemicals and the companies that produce them, broadly construed. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

In addition to the discretionary sanctions described above the Arbitration Committee has also imposed a restriction which states that you cannot make more than one revert on the same page in the same 24 hour period on all pages relating to genetically modified organisms, agricultural biotechnology, or agricultural chemicals, broadly construed and subject to certain exemptions.

Was this a mistake? edit

I don't understand why you added material to a page after you turned it into a redirect. Was it a mistake? ☆ Bri (talk) 18:06, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the confusion. Not a mistake, just a way of supplying this information, via an OLDID lookup. It'll be rmvd shortely. If you look at IT History Society#Activities you'll see why I made this temporary edit. Nuts240 (talk) 20:14, 4 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
As you probably saw in my edit summary, referencing a deleted revision in another page is not allowed as it violates WP:CIRCULAR. Please use a proper citation instead or link to a live page that can have verification added there. ☆ Bri (talk) 16:55, 5 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Attribution (feedback) .. interim work area before OVERwriting original. THANKS edit

(Ping|Diannaa) The large number of BARE URLs in the original, mixed with other items needing attention, made it seem like rebuilding the original from scratch ON Wiki (vs. on my own local machine and then one big OVERwrite/in place edit) made sense. My present focus is a CN/Citation Needed) within. My Interim attribution was the word REBUIL(d)(t), but I'll add a clarification to the talk pages of both the original and the DRAFT, titled ATTRIBUTION chain for Visa_policy_of_Russia and interim Draft:VisaPolicy Russia REBUILD BEGIN REBUiLT in sectionsThen when readyFlip.

The section label I just added in both places is "==ATTRIBUTION chain for Visa_policy_of_Russia and interim Draft:VisaPolicy Russia REBUILD BEGIN REBUiLT in sectionsThen when readyFlip==" and the (signed) text is "copied from Visa_policy_of_Russia to Draft:VisaPolicy Russia REBUILD BEGIN REBUiLT in sectionsThen when readyFlip"

I'm aware of the obligation for Hakarat HaTov/HaKaras HaTov (recognizing the good/feeling thankfulness/saying thanks) but I guess my need for a self-correction is to see it as a pre-event/anticipatory way of life, not just on wiki but off too, rather than 'merely' after/post-facto. As for your taking the time, even if in the form of what's called Musar/Mussar ('second request'), still requires my saying thanks. Nuts240 (talk) 19:13, 28 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

January 2023 edit

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit(s) you made to Reset (computing), did not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use your sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 23:14, 18 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

One year after another editor's January 2022 edit to Reset (computing) I made an edit, to which a third editor made two changes that improved the article, although one of them partially duplicated what was there, so I combined the second edit with what was there in a style I've seen elsewhere, particularly for citations of Bizjournals.com. A fourth editor replaced a technical word (see COMMAND stty sane as used in the article) with the word previous and then, in another edit, added the word stable (i.e. previous stable). I've added a citation to the command where it's used in the article; the fourth editor's less technical short description has replaced the earlier version, but part of what was done by the fourth editor was reverted by the third editor. SUMMARY: My sectionizing (hardware reset, software reset, both), along with adding several WP:RS citations, are my main contributions to this article.
P.S. Although SANDbox (and DRAFT) are both quite useful, often the simple use of Show Preview is also another helpful tool. Nuts240 (talk) 02:28, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Nuts240 I'm really not sure what you are trying to say here, but please stop changing the short description. Per WP:SDFORMAT the first character should be capitalized. The only other change in my version is a typo fix and slight reword. ~ Eejit43 (talk) 04:14, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
