Most of the memorabilia comes from father Sterling himself. Before the donation stearling held the world record for the greatest baseball card collection in existence. In 1991, on its 30th anniversary, over 500 people gathered for the museum’s re-dedication ceremony, complete with a presentation of the Elliott tartan banner and a ribbon cutting by Lynn Elliott, great-grand daughter of Sterling Elliott, as well as an exhibition of early automobiles from the Treasure Coast Vintage Auto Club and the Daytona Antique Auto Racing Association.

Over the years the museum has expanded its facilities, public programming and members. The museum is often the setting for social events and sits among the residential and business community on Hutchinson Island.

Phi Gamma Delta alleged hazing

In response to your question, the only filed lawsuit was dismissed by the Jackson County (MO) Court due to a lack of jurisdiction. I don't know how to prove that. I don't know how you access court records on matters such as this. The parties settled out of court and all legal matters were resolved. These are confidential documents that are not allowed to be published.

My issue with what was posted is the fact that it was considered "alleged hazing". How do you defend yourself against that? It's like calling someone a "alleged wife beater". Just because one party makes the claim does not make it so. The matter will never be adjudicated in court, so the claim will never be proven or disproven.

Furthermore, one of the references listed was from "Pitch", which is an alternative tabloid of minimal credibility.

Please reinstate my edits. Thank you for your understanding.

I would like to know why this section has to be part of the page it can be damaging to the organization, now a lot of organization have had hazing allegations but i do not see those on there pages, I don't believe that section is constructive to the article.

I agree. Even if some of them are stubs with a quick bullet point list, we should at least have one central article per state to tie into it and work from there. I've spent some time on the Poet Laureate of New Jersey article, aiming someday to make it GA-worthy, and I was a little surprised to see that only a handful of states had an article. I've been debating whether to expand the list article to have state sections with tables of past laureates. What are your thoughts on that? List of US state poets laureate

Thanks for your help with the Alaska section. I've been adding a state section or two here or there for the last few weeks when I get the chance (too much tackle all at once, so a few states at time works). I still think that there is a problem of having the individual state pages not having any information not on this page, but at *worst* we take the per state tables that have been created and move them to the appropriate pages (some of which will need to be created since we're doing some tables that don't currently exist)Naraht (talk) 20:00, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

• I was a little astonished that the original form of the list linked to categories rather than an article on that state's laureate post. But then again, most of these poets laureate are rather insignificant...but that goes with the territory today with everyone writing poetry and almost no one reading it. I have worked on the article on the New Jersey post (now abolished), which brought me to the list, and I thought a comprehensive list would be great in one place, separated by state as I started to do but writing tables is exhausting work. Seeing that there aren't articles on some states, it would be easy to copy-and-paste that state's table and incorporate it when the time to create state post articles. I don't deign to want to improve other state articles at this point--maybe when I have more time I could create some stubs, but I'd have to be inspired to take that on.--ColonelHenry (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

• What I suggest in terms of writing tables is http://excel2wiki.net/ . Create the table in Excel and then Paste it into the website and it gives you the table. I have made some *huge* tables in wikipedia (600+ rows * 7 columns) (A fraternity chapters table) fairly easily. And as for additional articles, let's wait until we get that as a suggestion when we put this in for GL/FL. :)Naraht (talk) 20:12, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

Answers to your comments

• For VP Binay, you can't reference another wikipedia page, so you should instead get the reference that the Alpha Phi Omega members page uses for him. -- I've moved the reference.
• For Elwood brown, the multiple URLs shoved together in the reference that he introduced volleyball to the Philippines aren't needed. Pick one or maybe two and make a more normal reference -- No one in the Philippines knows that Elwood Brown founded basketball, volleyball, and Boy Scouting in the Philippines. I put all the references I could find in order to avoid disputation.
• With all of the links to the Diamond Jubilee Yearbook and On My Honor, it probably makes more sense to list those books at the bottom and reference by page number as you have done. See the reference section to Joseph Stalin -- I don't know how to do this.
• The groups should probably be separated out, it is sort of awkward the way that it is. -- What groups are you referring to?
• While this is long enough to be its own article, I can't figure out whether it would survive in its current form that way, I don't think there are any individual country lists of notable members other than those which are specific to those who have received a specific award (like USA Eagle Scouts) -- I might make a new article on the history of Scouting in the Philippines and move this section there.
• Please compare with List of Scouts#The Philippines to see whether additional people should be added in one place or another (and link the entry on List of Scouts to the link in the BSP article with a "main" template. -- I made this list originally for the article "List of Scouts", but it was "cleaned up", actually cleaned out of notability descriptions, by User:Egel of the Netherlands who made the list a senseless listing of mere names that interest no one.

An exciting month of wiki events!

Hello there,

I am pleased to say that April will be a very exciting month for Wikipedia in Washington, DC. We have a lot of different events coming up, so you will have a lot to choose from.

First, a reminder that our second annual Women in the Arts Edit-a-Thon will take place on Sunday, March 30 at the National Museum of Women in the Arts.

Coming up in April, we have our first-ever Open Government WikiHack with the Sunlight Foundation on April 5–6! We are working together to use open government data to improve the Wikimedia projects, and we would love your help. All are welcome, regardless of coding or editing experience. We will also be having a happy hour the day before, with refreshments courtesy of the Sunlight Foundation.

On Friday, April 11 we are having our first edit-a-thon ever with the Library of Congress. The Africa Collection Edit-a-Thon will focus on the Library's African and Middle East Reading Room. It'll be early in the morning, but it's especially worth it if you're interested in improving Wikipedia's coverage of African topics.

The following day, we are having our second annual Wiki Loves Capitol Hill training. We will discuss policy issues relevant to Wikimedia and plan for our day of outreach to Congressional staffers that will take place during the following week.

There are other meetups in the works, so be sure to check our meetup page with the latest. I hope to see you at some of these events!

Washington, DC meetups in June

Wikimedia DC has yet another busy month in June. Whether you're a newcomer to Wikipedia or have years of experience, we're happy to see you come. Here's what's coming up:

• On Wednesday, June 11 from 7 to 9 PM come to the WikiSalon at the Cove co-working space. Hang out with Wikipedia enthusiasts!
• Saturday, June 14 is the Frederick County History Edit-a-Thon from 11 AM to 4 PM. Help improve local history on Wikipedia.
• The following Saturday, June 21, is the June Meetup. Dinner and drinks with Wikipedians!
• Come on Tuesday, June 24 for the Wikipedia in Your Library edit-a-thon at GWU on local and LGBT history.
• Last but not least, on Sunday, June 29 we have the Phillips Collection Edit-a-Thon in honor of the Made in America exhibit.

I am a brother in the newly reconstituted Section 57 comprising Southwestern Ohio within Region 5. I am currently doing research on Wittenberg University's inactive Zeta Rho chapter. I am new to editing on Wikipedia, but would like to make a correction on this page. I have recently discovered that Zeta Rho also went inactive in the early 1950's. The last time brothers were registered to the national office was in 1952. They were then reactivated on May 28, 1967 (according to another article) and per the national office's records, 1967 is the next year they have record of brothers initiating at Witt. I have images of all the articles because they are not accessible online.

My question is: what date should I enter as the time when Zeta Rho became inactive? I know I cannot simply put the early 1950's. But there is a 15 year gap in brothers initiating at Witt, so they must have been declared inactive at some point. And how can I cite the articles? OK. For ZP, we have the following.

With the ones with the @ sign already in the Wikipedia article. You have an article with information about reactivation on May 28th, 1967. That should be added. A reference in Wikipedia does *not* have to be online. Is this the article referenced in http://www6.wittenberg.edu/lib/witt_pubs/torch/search.php?database=torch&fields%5B%5D=subject&terms=Alpha+Phi+Omega ? The information there is more than enough to use as a reference. With this wikipedia article, I have used some approximations, see for example Alpha Kappa. For this purpose with your research, I'd use an approximation.

The Great American Wiknic and other events in July

I am pleased to announce our fourth annual picnic, the Great American Wiknic, will take place at Meridian Hill Park in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, July 13 from 1 to 5 PM (rain date: July 20). We will be hanging out by the statue of Dante Alighieri, a statue that was donated to the park in 1921 as a tribute to Italian Americans. Read more about the statue on Wikipedia. July will also feature the second annual Great American Wiknic in Frederick, Maryland. This year’s Frederick picnic will take place on Sunday, July 6 at Baker Park. Sign up here for the Frederick picnic.

first off, sorry for adding this to your personal profile page. i'm not used to doing anything but adding to wikipedia pages, so wasn't sure what to do. i figured out i'd done it wrong - so deleted it. but sorry for adding my question to your personal page, in any event.

since you fixed up the Amanda Kessel page - can you update the 'medal record' box of her profile to include her results at the world championships and 4 nations cup (you'll see it only shows her olympic silver - but she's won a gold and silver at the world championships and she also won at the 4 nations twice.) i don't want to do it myself, b/c i'm really uncomfortable editing boxes and charts - i'm worried i'll mess everything up.

Tenable

I can't locate the deleted version either as a draft or article, but my main beef with this sort of company article is that it tells us about the product, but not the company. The headquarters are a US state and two countries, surely they must be in a town or city somewhere? And of course there is nothing like number of employees, profits or turnover. I worked for one of Tenable's main competitors about 5 years ago. Like Tenable, everything is off of a suite of products that derives from their main product. Thank you for your suggestions on Military production during World War II. Bender235deleted over 3 months and 300 hours of my work, 40,000 characters of edits, and hundreds of constructive additions to the page. I am in the midst of uploading an enormous amount of PRIMARY SOURCE DATA and he deleted everything done so far as "wikipedia can not be a source for itself". I am enraged. There was not one comment, warning, question, request, or suggestion from this "editor". Can you please help me reverse all the deletions and keep this guy off the page. Wikimedia DC invites revolutionaries, free thinkers, and other sundry editors to a DC WikiSalon

The WikiSalon is a special meetup usually held during the first and third full weeks of every month, from 7 PM to 9 PM. It's an informal gathering of Wikimedia enthusiasts, who come together to discuss Wikimedia wikis and collaboratively edit. There's no set agenda, and guests are welcome to recommend articles for the group to edit or edit on their own.

If you're coming by Metro, the closest station is Dupont Circle (on the Red Line). If you're driving, a lot of parking opens up downtown after 6:30 PM, so finding a parking space (even a free one) should be easy. Once you've found the building, go to Cove on the second floor. We will be in the conference room.

APO founding and cleanup

Hi Naraht - Thanks for the message about the listing for APO on the List of Fraternities and Sororities at the University of Minnesota#Service Societies page. Indeed, I was using Baird's as my source, the 20th edition, dated 1991. Like you, I am also a member of APO; my affiliation is from the Iota Tau chapter at St. Olaf.

This is an odd one, and though I recognized a discrepancy when setting up the page, I had no further info to go on, so I left it as stated. Indeed, while Baird's lists APO's founding at Lafayette in 1925, its published list puts a Minnesota Alpha, founded in 1902, at the head of that list. Seemingly contradicting this, the chapter's own web portal thru the campus notes it is the Gamma Psi chapter, founded in 1942.

In my experience, Baird's is usually correct, and its errors are mostly those of omission, or the occasional date shift by a year or so. But this one is a pretty prominent outlier, if indeed it is an error. It's strange that the dialog of the APO Wikipedia entry and its website clearly claims its founding at Lafayette... Baird's practice (with other groups) was to have mentioned an earlier, predecessor organization had there been one. It's looking more and more suspect. Tau Gamma Phi informations

I agree that the Tau Gamma Phi page really needs improvements. Also, I understand that articles written should have factual citations and reliable references.

There have been previous websites such as www.taugammaphionline.com and taugammaphi1968.org which have been active for a few years. Unfortunately, these sites have been temporarily shut down due to some reason I may not be able to justify on my account. Currently, there are websites that feature news articles and current events from www.taugammaphi.org, www.taugamma.info and triskelionradio.net, but most information could use some references found from numerous official websites, better known as Chapter websites such as www.thomasiantriskelion.org, that feature Chapter members, activities and events with regard to the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity.

However, for the betterment of the Tau Gamma Phi page, I may contribute factual informations in relevance to the Tau Gamma Phi Triskelion's Grand Fraternity.Adromil (talk) 06:14, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Copyright checks when performing AfC reviews

Hello Naraht. This message is part of a mass mailing to people who appear active in reviewing articles for creation submissions. First of all, thank you for taking part in this important work! I'm sorry this message is a form letter – it really was the only way I could think of to covey the issue economically. Of course, this also means that I have not looked to see whether the matter is applicable to you in particular.

The issue is in rather large numbers of copyright violations ("copyvios") making their way through AfC reviews without being detected (even when easy to check, and even when hallmarks of copyvios in the text that should have invited a check, were glaring). A second issue is the correct method of dealing with them when discovered.

If you don't do so already, I'd like to ask for your to help with this problem by taking on the practice of performing a copyvio check as the first step in any AfC review. The most basic method is to simply copy a unique but small portion of text from the draft body and run it through a search engine in quotation marks. Trying this from two different paragraphs is recommended. (If you have any question about whether the text was copied from the draft, rather than the other way around (a "backwards copyvio"), the Wayback Machine is very useful for sussing that out.)

If you do find a copyright violation, please do not decline the draft on that basis. Copyright violations need to be dealt with immediately as they may harm those whose content is being used and expose Wikipedia to potential legal liability. If the draft is substantially a copyvio, and there's no non-infringing version to revert to, please mark the page for speedy deletion right away using {{db-g12|url=URL of source}}. If there is an assertion of permission, please replace the draft article's content with {{subst:copyvio|url=URL of source}}.

Some of the more obvious indicia of a copyvio are use of the first person ("we/our/us..."), phrases like "this site", or apparent artifacts of content written for somewhere else ("top", "go to top", "next page", "click here", use of smartquotes, etc.); inappropriate tone of voice, such as an overly informal tone or a very slanted marketing voice with weasel words; including intellectual property symbols (™,®); and blocks of text being added all at once in a finished form with no misspellings or other errors.
