Proposed deletion of List of Mexicans in the world
editThe article List of Mexicans in the world has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Badly referenced, inaccurate list with little encyclopaedic value. For example the reference for 107 Mexicans in New Zealand is to an official site that refers to 450 Mexicans registered with the local embassy rather than how many actually are bona fide immigrants. Other figures are based on out of date references and have spurious precision - e.g. exactly 2,327 in Costa Rica almost a decade ago. Most references are not in English so cannot be verified by users of the English version of Wikipedia. Anyway, what's the use of this list? Fails WP:VER and WP:NOT
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. andy (talk) 23:07, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
Articles for deletion nomination of List of Mexicans in the world
editI have nominated List of Mexicans in the world, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Mexicans in the world. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.
Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. andy (talk) 19:41, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Re: America
editYes but generally speaking, its North America and South America not "America". We have to be universal and formal here and not based on one country or another. Yes America is a nickname for the US but if you notice, I change those links to United States all of the time (and for American as well). Why? Because the country's name is the United States. And the continents' names are North and South America, not "America". --User:Woohookitty Disamming fool! 00:29, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Spanish Mexican
editHola, Marrovi.
Gracias. SamEV (talk) 01:55, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
SamEV (talk) 02:16, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Tloque Nahuaque

editHi, and thanks for your work on the English Wikipedia.
I noticed an article you worked on. Just a short note to point out that we don’t normally link:
- dates
- years
- commonly known geographical terms (including well-known country-names), and
- common terms you’d look up in a dictionary (unless significantly technical).
This applies to infoboxes, too.
Thanks, and my best wishes.

Moving "Mexican American" to "Mexican immigration to United States"
editWelcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved without good reason. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--McGeddon (talk) 22:22, 30 November 2014 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Mexicans in Panama
editThe article Mexicans in Panama has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- A new article with no attempt to assert notability or provide any sources; best to delete and allow it to be recreated if possible when some sources can be found
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:35, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Speedy deletion nomination of Movement Republic of Baja California
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Movement Republic of Baja California requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. editDo not remove references, unless you provide a better one. Sephardi
editYou are writing a list of names that you claim are Sephardi as a response to my comment on the talkpage. The list is of course 100% irrelevant, since no one is going to accept your personal claims as evidence for which names are sephardi. Some of the names you add, I do believe are likely to be common among sephardim, or even exclusive to Sephardi communities, but whether or not I believe it doesnt matter much unless you can actually provide some reliable sources. For many of the other names you believe to be sephardi are simply mistaken, for example the names in -ez which are an ancient Spanish patronymic, the names based on places (Toledano) or professions (Zapatero) obviously cannot be considered exclusive to Sephardim either. Claiming so, and doing so without presenting any evidence whatsoever, is just a silly waste of time. Your idea that inquisition records can be used as evidence of Sephardi names is frankly both ludicrous and scary. ·maunus · snunɐɯ· 18:28, 14 June 2016 (UTC)

Please don't move categories without discussion
editPlease don't move categories without discussing them first at either WP:Categories for discussion or WP:Categories for discussion/Speedy as appropriate. In particular this rename was inappropriate as it breaks a basic rule, that categories should follow the name of the corresponding article. In this case Texcoco is a disambiguation page so it can never be used as a category name - because that category name would by definition be ambiguous. Thanks. Le Deluge (talk) 13:01, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- It doesn't matter what the town is called - if there's at least two things with a reasonable claim to the same name, then normally that "obvious" name has to be a disambiguation and the two articles have to have a different name. See eg George Bush or Mercury. Obviously it helps if they are renamed in some fairly predictable way, and the general rule for disambiguating towns is that they have their province/state added to the name of the article (it gets a lot more complicated than that, but that's the usual starting point.) even if it may seem a bit "unnatural". See WP:Disambiguation and WP:Naming conventions (geographic names) for more details. Then there's a general rule that categories follow the names of the corresponding article - if the "simple" article name like Texcoco is ambiguous for the article, then it is also ambiguous for the categories. Now I understand that this isn't the most confusing disambiguation, in that all the alternatives, whether the lake or the historical entity are all in the same area - but can you accept that we need the "category follows article name" rule for "normal" cases (which are more like Mercury) and that it's easier for the marginal cases to just follow the same rule? In any case, you should never make big moves like that without discussion - and if you continue to do so you may find you get blocked from Wikipedia. Doing things by discussion and agreement is essential to how we work here. Le Deluge (talk) 13:55, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- I don't see a particular problem with naming. As the article says, "The official name of the municipality is Texcoco and the official name of the city is Texcoco de Mora". So if we wanted a separate article on the city it could exist at Texcoco de Mora with no problem. Any uncertainty could be resolved using WP:Hatnotes. Just as a general bit of advice, I'd concentrate on making a really good article on the municipality rather than having lots of OK-ish articles on every community within it - for an idea of what makes "a really good article" see the guidelines at WP:Good article criteria and WP:Featured article criteria and examples at Category:FA-Class WikiProject Cities articles. As you may have noticed, I have done a really simple restructuring into the usual sections for a city article to guide it in the direction of what would be needed for GA/FA. It needs some copyediting and there's some sections that need expansion, notably sport, demographics, transport, media and notable people (! usually the problem is too many people...) as well as a WP:Manual of Style/Lead section that better summarises the whole article. Le Deluge (talk) 15:22, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- For clarity - I'm not saying don't have articles on the smaller communities. But my advice, based on quiet a lot of experience, would be to spend more time on making a really good article on the municipality first. It's a better use of your time, if your intention is to help your readers. For instance, I've spent some time on the municipality of Nottingham, population 318,900. Its article had 524,007 pageviews in 2016. Compare that with some of the communities within it - Radford, Nottingham has a population of 21,414 and 4,757 pageviews, Bilborough has a population of 16,792 and 3,003 pageviews. So Nottingham has 19x the population of Bilborough and 15x the population of Radford, but its article gets 174x and 67x the pageviews. That makes me think I should put 174x the energy into the municipality article compared to the Bilborough article. One can also imagine that the pageviews of Bilborough and Radford will be much higher on en.wiki than on other wikis, just because people live there - but tourists tend not to visit suburbs. You can see the language effect if you compare Nottingham and Texcoco - they are similar sized municipalities, but Nottingham got 524,007 pageviews and Texcoco got 14,337 pageviews. So you can imagine that the "Bilboroughs" of Texcoco will get <200 views per year. If I was you, I'd concentrate on giving the 14,337 people a really good article about the municipality, before worrying too much about the <200 people reading about the smaller communities. As an aside, Texcoco (altepetl) got 19,275 pageviews, more than the municipality.Le Deluge (talk) 16:36, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- To show the "tourist" effect - the only article I can find on es.wiki about Nottingham suburbs is es:Sneinton. On en.wiki, Nottingham gets 60x more pageviews than Sneinton, whereas on es.wiki Nottingham gets 414x more pageviews. Le Deluge (talk) 17:13, 25 February 2017 (UTC)

Mezquital Valley
editIt is different, but you are doing the same mistakes that you did in the spanish wikipedia, (i'm not point a complaint or denounce you, but you are doing the same mistakes). The long talks in English about Teotlalpan said the same it was not atribute region, thet wod was alredy elimitate for the introduction and thas ok. RubeHM (talk) 05:25, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
- You are precisely making the same mistakes that got you blocked at the spanish wikipedia. You are making original research, creating articles that are not supoported by sources, and when confronted with the argument you behave problematically. You cannot for example remove a merge template untill there is a consensus that the article should or should not be merged. I will not waste much more time on this before I take it to some administrators who are unlikely to look favorably at your behavior given your known history of disruptive editing at other wikis.·maunus · snunɐɯ· 20:36, 22 February 2018 (UTC)
In this map, the municipalities of Apaxco, Hueypoxtla, Tequixquiac, Huehutoca and Zumpango no inside Mexico Valley, because the cultural issues and climate is diferent. Apaxco, Hueypoxtla, Tequixquiac, Huehuetoca and Zumpango are arid o desertic lands, the same climate in Mezquital Valley. In Mexico State no Natural regions as in Hidalgo State, the Mexico State only has got a strange administrative division (Tejupilco Region, Zumpango Region, Atlacomulco Region or Toluca Region).
The natural and cultural regions in Mexico State are Tierra Caliente (Tejupilco Region and a part of Ixtapan Region), Matlatzingo Valley (Toluca Valley), Mexico Valley (Naucalpan Region, Tlalnepantla Region, Ecatepec Region, Tultitlán Region, Texcoco Region, Chimalhuacan Region and Amecameca Region), Mezquital Valley (Zumpango Region and a part of Cuautitlán Izcalli Region), Mazahuahcan (Atlacomulco Region and Valle de Bravo Región), Tlahuicapan (Ixtapan Region) and Otomi Sierra (Lerma Region).
But in Mexico State, no Mezquital Valley now, only Teotlalpan Region in many documents ans research, the old name of Mezquital Valley. Mezquital Valley is only Hidalgo State. If you want to name to Mezquital Valley as Teotlalpan, you must to include Apaxco, Tequixquiac, Hueypoxtla, Zumpango, Coyotepec and Huehuetoca in Mezquital Valley, but doing that will be much more confusing and there will be more conflicts than having Teotlalpan separately as an independent article.Marrovi (talk) 16:06, 22 February 2018 (UTC)

Erika Dobosiewicz moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Erika Dobosiewicz, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

editYou had moved the page for the municipality of El Oro to the page for the town of El Oro de Hidalgo. They need separate pages. They are separate entities and don't share the same name. In case you didn't know in Mexico a municipality is the same as a county in the US. It is different from municipalities in most other countries. Could you restore it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KitChristensen7 (talk • contribs) 20:06, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @KitChristensen7:, don't you know that Marrovi is globally locked for 2 years? Anyway, please sign your comments in the future, by just typing --~~~~, like this: --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 00:01, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
