Hi,

This morning you deleted Wikipedia's version of File:Holbrookssmall.jpg, which makes me unable to view that version. I had relevant source and author information, but apparently when Skb8721 transferred the file to Commons, he neglected to transfer that. Are you able to view and replace that missing information? Admins going against me; becoming an administrator?

The Rambling Man, JHunterJ, KrakatoaKatie, BethNaught... What do they have in common? They find me bothersome and a waste of time. They think I must put a lot of effort to build their trust? They think Wikipedia might be fine without me? If neither, and if that's not the case, what is wrong with me? I attempted to do another editor review until I realize it is inactive and historical. For some time, I resisted on becoming an administrator, but I have second thoughts. Unfortunately, I fear that consensus may go against my request to become an administrator. When I uploaded this, I found no information re: lifetime of the artist, so I went with when the book was published. If it's decided to keep the file at Commons, the extra pages will need to be transferred as they include the publication information for the book and the name of the artist. This comes from HathiTrust and they block all but US IPs from full viewing the books, so those outside of the US won't be able to see the information. User:Stefan2, the problem with HathiTrust is similar to that of viewing some Google Books--only those with a US IP are allowed full access to them. I just read through the book there and the information is on page 56 "die P. Guelle 1782 schuf"-which P. Guelle created in 1782. Have taken a copy of the page and uploaded it on the file here. What's still here should provide the proof needed for Commons--it just needs to be moved over there. We hope (talk) 23:30, 5 May 2016 (UTC)

The page with all that text can't be moved to Commons because the person who wrote the text might not have been dead for at least 70 years. What you could do is to mention the page number on the file information page. Central discussion vs individual cases

I am very tired of being criticized and unappreciated. I thought I did what I thought was best for the Project, but somehow I met opposition. If I build more individual cases, I would be criticized more. But if I poorly develop a central discussion, people might be confused. Being criticized

Are criticisms unfair? Shall I take criticisms so seriously and fix whatever issues that I have are criticized? Why am I feeling letdown and disappointed in either myself or others? --George Ho (talk) 08:28, 13 May 2016 (UTC)

I have tried to ask the people who have criticized you and I haven't had much success. My guess is that it ranges from fair to unfair. Sometimes people have agendas and you fail to understand that because you think very logically and assume everyone else does. But people with agendas don't operate in the arena of logic, they operate in the arena of emotion, and will actively fight against logic. But that doesn't mean they don't have some valid points; often they do. Also, please don't say this to anyone you come into conflict with, because you might be wrong, and even if you're not, it's just going to look like you're dismissing their points.

On the other hand, a lot of people have complained that they say something and you don't listen. I think that sometimes they are assuming you understand something that you don't, and vice versa. You're talking on two different planes, so to speak. It would help if you had some humility; don't forget that the Dunning–Kruger effect makes you (and everyone else) think you're more intelligent than you really are. So it might do you some good to consider what they're saying. I am happy to help out with individual circumstances.

There are two files in the history, and the file usage is messy. Can you fix the file?

1. The file from 2016 has been uploaded to c:File:REACH Logo.jpg and the local file should be used. It should be used in Reach (brand).
2. The file from 2013 appears to be unfree and should be used in REACHSingapore.

Thanks for the heads up. Actually, the reactions towards me have been pretty OK... a couple of nasty comments on reddit, but not too bad; although the Giordano twitter account (T doesn't verify the account) seems to think that my editing days are over....

I have responded at the DR, and leave it at that. I know that I did what the consensus said, so I have no worries... and even if I hadn't, and it was overturned, I'd just take note of what I had done wrong, and apply that knowledge to future AfDs!

Now The Rambling Man who is biased against me, concurs with Softlavender, who acts like I violated an outdated consensus. I don't know what to do. Now the more I edit, the more I could no longer work well with people in Wikipedia anymore. I don't want this dispute to increase my animosity toward Wikipedia, especially when two of them still have influence. I'm in trouble; can you help me? Moving files to commons

I find it fun and creative to move files from EnWiki to commons, and have a couple of questions; where do I insert the javascript at Wikipedia:Moving_files_to_Commons#Tools? I also fell it would make sense to rename a lot of the files on enWiki before transferring to commons, a Change from completely meaningless names into suitable name, since afterwards, when the file is uploaded to commons, renaming a file just makes a lot of extra work? Willing to quit Wikipedia soon

I'm sorry, Magog. You want me to have a wikibreak, but I can't. Not when I have very little friends but so many enemies here. I am quitting soon, and I don't know when I'll come back. Also, I have done very little to make Wikipedia change itself other than things considered trivial, like capitalization, images, punctuations, titles, etc. I've not done much content other than DYK, drafts, and other things. I'm trying to slow down my activities here, but I've made some edits today. I was part of consensus of WP:page mover, but the outcome would have been predictable without me. I felt like I'm drifting myself away to the point where I'm no longer beneficial or necessary. Guess it's hard to say goodbye to people, including ones who would continue to berate me for my own actions. Maybe I... I don't know. Ah, well. If only people would appreciate my edits sans edit warring... Ah well, I can't please them anymore. I'm tired now, and I'm tired of negative energy around me. I think so. Thanks for asking. Sometimes you do not explain the history of the situation and just assume that everyone else will read up on it, or that we already understand it. This just confuses people, me included. Instead, I recommend you talk to everyone as if they are aliens who just came to the Earth and know no history about the situation at all. This will mean you'll need to repeat yourself a lot but that's expected.

Also, understand that sometimes people will not agree with you, even when they do understand. That's OK and also expected. Sometimes, however, it seems you want to try to push harder; it's better to leave things go sometimes.

More automated transfer to Commons problems

I see that you moved this image to Commons that is not clearly free in England, where it was created: File:Gentlyida.jpg As we discussed in the past with other images, the En.Wikipedia file should have {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} instead of {{PD-US}}. No, it says Richard D'Oyly Carte, but he is not the illustrator, he was the theatre manager and producer of the show. It turns out, however, that Alice Havers was the illustrator. Somehow, the person whom I introduced myself to erased the whole thread. In fact, I did introduce myself but then mentioned someone else. Then the third party showed up, and the primary person assumed that I was bringing in the bitchfest. I was not, but the person told me to go away. It's not TRM anymore. It's someone else: In ictu oculi. He keeps disambiguating articles for no apparent reason other than some kind of distinction or title clarity or something. I tried warning him, but that made me a bad guy. I just could not handle the way he disambiguates anymore, like he did to Snatcher. Also, he created Ready for Your Love (Chapter 8 song) just to disambiguate other articles of the same name, but the article is now redirected to its parent article Chapter 8 (album). All right. I'll explain my interaction with IIO. IIO has always mostly fetish on disambiguating anything merely because a title may appear generic. He provides same arguments in every discussion about titles. I confronted him about it, even when I invited him to RM discussions. Also, he created articles, including some that are deleted or redirected per AFD. Also, he made bold moves on titles without discussion sometimes. I'm not saying he is a bad editor or anything. This image was moved to Commons some time ago, and you just deleted it from en.Wikipedia, but I don't see any indication that it is free in England, its country of origin: File:Terry's theatre.jpg. Commons Issue

It is more than a year (1y4m) that I've been blocked in commons. Is it possible to change the situation? I really learned a lesson from that and during this time I think I became more calm and try to use wikimedia policies. You are admin and you know that story. Before asking...

I think I'm going down to the bottom. I asked for more mentors, but people emphasize the negatives about me, causing the request to fail. I tried raising an issue at WT:ITN, but I got clammed down. I made discussions at the user talk pages of someone who beat me down in front of everyone. I discussed images at WikiProject talk pages, but I get chided for being either unproductive or useless or uncooperative. Everywhere I go, I do not belong. If I work on pages alone, I don't know what people would thank me for. I don't think I'd be thanked for my hard work on pages in the future. That's what bothers me. If I can't retire, maybe I would consider a very long Wikibreak. @George Ho: George, it seems like you're absolutely incorrigible sometimes. People try to tell you something, and you just assume they're wrong or they don't understand you. In this very post, you continue to blame everyone else rather than admit any fault ("People empasize the negative", "I got clammed down", "I get chided). Quite frankly, people are fed up with it. It's hard for me to know how much of this is because you are not able to understand what's going on, and how much of it is because you don't want to understand. You don't seem to be able to understand the concept that there are disagreements about content on here, and it's not your job to pound your ideas into someone else's head until they accept. I admit I messed up a lot. I got Begoon going against me because I poorly understood people's perspectives about rules. I thought people broke rules, but now I am wondering whether the rules are firm... or broken. I got every Project community somewhat going against me because I never had much interest in improving the articles as much as I was interesting in either images or trying to clean out copyrights. That really put them off. I never had much interesting in things that seem too serious to them, like politics, inaccuracies, and other topics. I tried to apologize to them for my behavior, but they either never responded or are still bitter about me. Somehow, I felt they don't want to talk to me again... ever. ITN... that's the thing. I couldn't put trust on them, but I never have done anything really productive there. People there were against me because I've not been really useful but whine instead about everything.

I didn't want to admit the wrong that I have done because if I did, I felt that I wasted ten years of contributing to pages about topics that I would no longer care for anymore. Cheers sucks after Diane Chambers left the show; it has bunch of mean people. I'm unsure about Frasier, but I'm tired of seeing resemblance to Grammer's private life in fiction. Using offline sources is time-consuming. I would never research more efficiently alone; I needed a teammate or partner, but I don't have what it takes to build a real-life teamwork relationship. My work in Wikipedia is wasted on caring about... sexual identities, images, being alone, passive aggression, being hounded defenselessly, etc. I made meaningless debates on what's considered nothing important... Maybe because I thought general readers only care about images and pop culture and current or recent events and some simple topic... like Homer Simpson or... cat? Maybe I don't know about general readers at all.

However, Not just me. That guy who recently went to my talk page several times keeps thanking me for edits, like removing a non-free image of a dead person in favor of a free one. Actually, I was trying to preserve that non-free image until he made some negotiations with the copyright owner of the image. I don't know how he does that. Also, well... The guy in my talk page says that I'm pretend to quit just for attention or something. Also, he thinks I'm using this as substitute for Facebook or something. I told him not to contact me anymore, but he still keeps contacting me wherever I go. Well... I did debate with him recently at the discussion about changing the criteria of recent deaths, but that's about it. Outside, I tend to avoid him, but he still keeps responding and responding.

Actually, I'm willing to take a break, but I must complete Thanksgiving Orphans first to make it GA. However, if I don't edit articles or talk very much to others, this indicates that my activities will be severely down. I will actually no longer have a purpose to go active in Wikipedia as I used to. The reasons of being active are article titles and images, but that's about it. I couldn't care less about people's sexualities unless the people come out verifiably. As said before, Cheers and Frasier... Well, Frasier seems a little better than Cheers, but I can't help laughing whenever Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley) self-destructs. Maybe I'll come back once I finish watching either or both shows completely.

@George Ho: I'm sorry, but you're still not getting it. You are talking about how you messed up once. You didn't mess up once. It's your entire approach that is destined to set people off. And then when they get upset, you blame it on them, or you vaguely understand that it's your fault but you don't seem to understand the mechanism of why. But we've told you: you need to listen. Approach things with humility. My I introduce you to the Dunning–Kruger effect? Basically everyone thinks they're smarter than they really are. So please have some humility.

Your problem is also that you are treating things too rigidly, as if there is some master blueprint that must be followed to a tee, come Hell or high water. That's not how Wikipedians work, though. We come to a situation and handle it with care, using the blueprint where applicable. Do you see the difference in those approaches? Your end goal is the blueprint, it almost seems, whereas everyone else just wants to make Wikipedia better. Usually it is smart to adhere to a blueprint, but sometimes circumstances come up which mean they don't fit well. This is my assessment; perhaps I'm wrong, but I know there is at least a large amount of truth in it.

Then we have your non-sequiturs, which I have studiously asked you to watch for. And yet you do them constantly. Like above: you were talking about disagreeing with other people on Wikipedia, and all of a sudden, bam! Cheers sucks. What the bloody hell does that have to do with the rest of the conversation? Hello Magog the Ogre, I am again about Commons, recently Wikimedia Community User Group Georgia has received an email for participation in Wiki Loves Monuments 2016. From Georgian side I am the most interested person and already organizer. As you know WLM is about photos so Commons access is extra needed. You've told me to explain what I got from blocking and now it is definitely clear for me that using policies is the best solution in disputes and revert plays do not bring solution. Also I am not side walker in Wikimedia and my block punished me a lot, because my contribution was not so productive as I could. Now a lot of time has flowed from my block and I think I deserve chance to be unblocked, I give my word that for every controversial edit I will bring admins attention to it and will act after discussion. Since it's useful to WP, not a copyright violation and the uploader will probably never see your posts to their talk page (and identified it as "own work" back in '07), it seems a shame to lose it over a technicality; many older uploads have similar sketchy or inaccurate information. In this case, I'm inclined to IAR and change the licensing to {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}; in their choice of license, the uploader apparently confused their derivative work with the original bas-relief (whose creator died in the 17th century). @Miniapolis: When Wikipedia was in its inception, they IAR'ed the copyright for a lot of their images, but eventually cracked down on it because copyright drives to the heart of the project and creates legal problems for real world reusers. Extended confirmed protection

Hello, Magog the Ogre. This message is intended to notify administrators of important changes to the protection policy.

Extended confirmed protection (also known as "30/500 protection") is a new level of page protection that only allows edits from accounts at least 30 days old and with 500 edits. The automatically assigned "extended confirmed" user right was created for this purpose. The protection level was created following this community discussion with the primary intention of enforcing various arbitration remedies that prohibited editors under the "30 days/500 edits" threshold to edit certain topic areas.

In July and August 2016, a request for comment established consensus for community use of the new protection level. Administrators are authorized to apply extended confirmed protection to combat any form of disruption (e.g. vandalism, sock puppetry, edit warring, etc.) on any topic, subject to the following conditions:

• Extended confirmed protection may only be used in cases where semi-protection has proven ineffective. It should not be used as a first resort.
• A bot will post a notification at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard of each use. MusikBot currently does this by updating a report, which is transcluded onto the noticeboard.

Please review the protection policy carefully before using this new level of protection on pages. Thank you.

I am not trying to offend you, since you prefer Kurdish, but we have no Kurdish users, and most Iraqi Kurds know some Arabic.
