Wikipedia and copyright edit

Hello Madeforall1! Your additions to Dumo Lulu Briggs have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 23:36, 22 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

July 2023 edit

Hello Madeforall1. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Madeforall1. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Madeforall1|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Jamiebuba (talk) 20:44, 2 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of DJ Phil Baddest edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on DJ Phil Baddest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Liz Read! August 2023 edit

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Madeforall1, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Madeforall1|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Jamiebuba (talk) 13:42, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

I’m not been paid for edits and I’m not affiliated with the subjects, these are people i know through social media and his music Madeforall1 (talk) 15:10, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also I create articles for the love I have for Wikipedia and when I see people in the media space that are reaching some heights, I try to create an article for them, I can decide to create an article for someone I really like and can talk about not for everyone, making edits is a personal decision based on the information you can get, my interest is seeing that my articles are live and existing on Wikipedia. So if my article gets reviewed it makes me happy. Madeforall1 (talk) 15:26, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Knowing them "through social media" is also a clear Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Jamiebuba (talk) 22:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I’ve heard about them some many times, his music and so on, the articles I created is out of my choice, and if you check my contributions I normally patrol on any article I come across, so I pled you undo the deletion tag please. My joy is for my article to be live as I won’t create articles without references from news sources. Madeforall1 (talk) 22:08, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I also saw a mail that you have reviewed the article and same time saw you nominated it for deletion, that was rather not fair, try helping to develop the article and it’s good that way. But like I said I don’t have any paid agreement seriously. Madeforall1 (talk) 22:32, 15 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Almost all articles of a living person has a picture, hope it’s cool as I added it Madeforall1 (talk) 01:00, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
I’m not connected to the subject, I just saw the picture from social media, thanks Madeforall1 (talk) 01:02, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Hi Madeforall1, my concern is that, you just said you got the picture from social media, but you ended up licensing it as "Own work", pet Commons policies, this means that you took the picture yourself, which is not the case here.
I bet the picture would be tagged for a deletion discuss and subsequently deleted because you won't be able to prove that you own the work.
From another view, when uploading a picture via Wikimedia Commons UploadWizard, the wizard has very user friendly interface that would help you choose the best license for your file, especially if it's not your "Own work". It'll also let know if you can't upload any picture or file to the project and why.
I'd advise you go through relevant policies on commons to be fully aware.
Hope this helps. Regards. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 20:41, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Also, if you got it from social media, what is the link to the site you retrieved the image from? Magnolia677 (talk) 20:46, 24 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Date formatting edit

See MOS:DATEVAR. Please do not change any more "November 18, 1951"-style dates in articles on American subjects. That format is correct in such articles. Also, "18 November, 1951" with a comma in it is not a valid date format at all (it's "18 November 1951" in British and most other non-American articles).  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  07:59, 30 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
