Good to hear from you

Hi K6ka:
Thanks for checking in. If my memory were better, I would have let you known about rollback. I did not ask for it. An administrator asked me if I wanted it after he(?) handled an AIV report I had made and checked my recent work on vandalism review. It was nice to get the tool that way because it recognized some merit in my work.
I did not know that one could use either version of Huggle. You are definitely correct that there are pros and cons. There are instances where I want to see the entire article and need to go off Huggle and to the Wikipedia page to do so. One or two other types of warning might be useful in the drop down menu. Also, I have learned that a vandal has not always been given four warnings when Huggle shows that the person has received them. Then, one needs to go to the user talk page and leave another warning. This seems to happens when patrollers leave a level 4 warning early. I have found that some administrators will not issue a block until four warnings are given and a fifth vandalism is made even if the vandalism is clear - unless maybe it is a personal attack or otherwise very bad. If the vandal is bad enough, he(?) will make a few more edits soon enough. I also have encountered a few other glitches, although it may be that was because I was not thoroughly familiar with the tool.
I worry a little about unintended mistakes with Huggle but I have corrected the few I have made promptly. I also sometimes delete a notice even though I think the reversion was correct. This has occurred mainly when someone has deleted content that looks good and usually has a citation but they leave no reason. If they come back with a valid reason, I will strike out the notice. I don't usually restore the edit when my rationale was good. I leave it up to the user.
Thanks for describing the other tools. I wondered whether STiki might be a good alternative to Huggle and was thinking of trying it to see if it did not have Huggle's drawbacks. Strangely, I had never heard of Vada! I like the idea of these tools working in the browser like Twinkle. I sometimes keep strange hours and catch some vandalism in off hours for most patrollers but I have seen the problems that can come up if no one is monitoring changes. I have found vandalism to articles on my watch list a day or two later. Of course, some of this is more subtle and perhaps might have been missed by the tools.
Again, it is good to hear from you. Keep up your good work!Donner60 (talk) 20:31, 12 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

List of banned users MfD

Hi K6ka. Thanks for taking the time to comment on the proposals for change at the list of banned users. It's clear that there's sufficient support that a deletion will not be SNOW closed, so I've listed it at MfD - Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:List of banned users (6th nomination). I thought it appropriate to keep you informed. WormTT(talk) 09:54, 16 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sean Cullen

I am Sean Cullen. Why do I have to ask your permission to remove things from my own page that I believe weight my biographical material in direction that pleases you? Because I exist and am an entity in the public eye does that mean that you own my life? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.237.185.211 (talk) 03:01, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. You have misread my notice and my message. This isn't about me owning your life, but rather enforcing a key Wikipedia policy in that a conflict of interest prevents us from writing an accurate and formally written encyclopedia. For starters, you technically do not own the page. Not even a page about yourself. At the bottom of the edit window it clearly states that "By clicking the "Save page" button, you agree to the Terms of Use and you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL with the understanding that a hyperlink or URL is sufficient for CC BY-SA 3.0 attribution." In non-jargon form, it means that any work you submit is no longer yours and you do not own the text, though you will be credited for it. Your work can be reused, modified, or reverted at will and at the discretion of other editors. Secondly, it's a bit harsh to accuse me of "owning your life" when multiple other editors have edited your article as well. They do not "own your life", rather they are trying to build an encyclopedia. If an editor reverts your edit, it was most likely within reason, and my reason was that 1. There were no sources cited for your additions, and as a rule everything that is on the biography of a living person must be supported by a reliable source or it must be reverted, in order to protect the living subject, and 2. Again as mentioned, your conflict of interest is worrisome, and that we generally discourage people from editing an article about themselves or the company they work for. If you have any other questions, please direct them to the Teahouse. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 14:13, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Why do I have to ask your permission to remove things from my own page that I believe weight my biographical material in direction that pleases you? You have misunderstood. Since when was this my encyclopedia? I don't own this website, I am simply a contributor that helps to build it. In short, a volunteer editor and not an employee. And when did this ever please me? I did not make up the rules for conflict of interests or biographical material or citing sources. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia built collaboratively by the people that read it, not by one person or by one person's sole discretion to rule over the website. See our about page for who we really are and what we really do. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 14:24, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

You didn't read my message carefully enough, did you? Wikipedia is not a place for you to promote your company or business. If your company is notable enough, then you should request that the article be created. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 21:09, 23 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Toy Weapon

Yes i think you made a mistake but not by deleting my correction but by allowing someone to start a page called "toy Weapon" like i wrote in that page a weapon (by Google standards) is weap·on ˈwepən noun a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.

Therefore if you use the word "WEAPON" with toy it just doesn't make sense, unless you think inflicting real bodily harm is a game. A weapon is a word with a specific meaning described above, it simply shouldn't be used with TOY. I know words are often tossed around freely like "assault weapons" which can be anything you use to assault someone, but in the minds of many it's an AR type rifle "black gun" I just think it's about time to set the clocks straight and starting here would be a good place, since peoples looks your way to get straight answers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kobs7024 (talkcontribs) 14:29, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Kobs7024: Wikipedia is not a dictionary, and Wikipedia always writes in a neutral point of view. Your opinions are welcomed, but they just don't belong here on Wikipedia. We're not here to promote beliefs about what is right or wrong -- we just state the facts. See our about page for who we really are.
And I'm not sure why you accuse me of "allowing someone to start a page called 'toy weapon'", because I'm not the king of Wikipedia. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 14:32, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Brompton page

Hello! Thanks for your message. Since this is a Brompton page so I think it is more appropriate to put "Cycle manufacturers of the United Kingdom" instead of the "List of bicycle manufacturing companies" or you can make it two lines :

- Cycle manufacturers of the United Kingdom
- List of bicycle manufacturing companies

Thanks again... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.24.162.229 (talk) 14:35, 25 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

There are two issues with this request:
  1. The article Cycle manufacturers of the United Kingdom does not exist
  2. The article is already in the category Category:Cycle manufacturers of the United Kingdom, so adding another link is not necessary.
