Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Jose82923. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. GermanJoe (talk) 08:24, 30 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hijacking redirects edit

  • Hi, can you please make sure it does not redirect, was unaware it would redirect or that name was reserved for redirection. Have amended the title. Apologies, can you approve with the new name?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 19:28, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
After you address the WP:COI disclosures above, I suggest you go through the WP:AFC process. OhNoitsJamie Talk 19:29, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Ok thanks, it was amended to not do the redirect and has news sources as necessary per guidelines. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 19:32, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
If you accept the advice to go through WP:AFC, I recommend that you create your draft at Draft:Online Shop (brand). The existing term "Online Shop" is more likely to be a search term for someone looking to know about the generic concept of online shopping than the specific (but as yet little-know) brand of "Online Shop". Since Wikipedia's Principle of Least Astonishment argues against bring a user to a page they didn't expect, the existing redirect, or at the very least, as disambiguation page, is the best content for Online Shop. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 19:34, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you very much for your assistance and guidance. Have changed it to reflect the actual name of the brand, same style as WoolWorths.co.uk which should hopefully work, unless you recommend putting under (brand). Guidance quite unclear, apologies.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 19:37, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of OnlineShop.co.uk edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on OnlineShop.co.uk requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, can confirm not affiliated with the organization. All information provided is contextual and from credible news sources and in public interest.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 20:21, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

So despite the fact that all of your edits thus far are related to Terry McGinnis business ventures, you're saying that you have no business relationship with McGinnis and that you are not compensated in any way related to your Wikipedia contributions? OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:25, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes correct, I am contributing factual, credible and notable information for historical records and to separate the fictional Terry McGinnis, comic book character from one mentioned in the WikiPedia sources. I have also contributed on other pages and plan on doing so.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 2021‎ Jose82923 (talkcontribs) curprev 20:29, 16 November (UTC)
    • Do you explicitly deny having a personal or professional relationship with McGinnis or his businesses? OhNoitsJamie Talk 20:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes correct. I am acting in good faith. As you can see I am providing contextual and credible information for UK based sources other than the aforementioned also and continue on doing so for the good of public interest. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 20:56, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • No one is disputing whether the informational is "factual" or whether you are acting in good faith. I've asked you very explicit questions which you appear to be avoiding. You have made exactly zero contributions to any other topics in the year since you've created this account, other than two trivial edits you made shortly after this discussion begain.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Ohnoitsjamie (talkcontribs) 20:58, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes I can confirm that I am not affiliated with Terry McGinnis or his business ventures, explicitly. Thank you. Hope this clears it up.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 21:00, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
    Are you explicitly confirming or are you saying you are not explicitly affiliated with them? The latter seems unlikely based on your contributions here, and at Commons. – NJD-DE (talk) 23:36, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Yes I am confirming that I am not affiliated with Terry McGinnis nor Online Shop, nor anyone related to them. Hope this clears it up. Can you please confirm it is ok to make edits and create articles. Thanks.
  • Can you please allow me to continue editing, and providing information on WikiPedia and approve articles as I have confirmed above. I believed "Yes correct" was the correct affirmation to your questions. Thank you.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Jose82923 (talkcontribs) 21:17, 16 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
    • I can confirm that it's OK for you to go through the WP:AFC draft process, as has already been suggested above. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:55, 17 November 2021 (UTC)Reply
  • Thank you very much for your help! I would like to be the first to submit this entry due to what I believe it being significant on my journey to becoming a good contributor! Thanks again. I made it under Online Shop (Brand) per suggestions to avoid redirect hijacking.
