Under the assumption that your topic ban on biblical topics is lifted and you begin editing again, I'm going to give you a reliable resource you can widely use given the poor state of reliable sources in the majority of the biblical chapters articles. If you click here, you'll be taken to a PDF of the Oxford Bible Commentary (by John Barton and John Muddiamn, 2007), which is around 1,400 pages long and contains academic commentary on all the books of the Bible and apocrypha. ten year + review

In some cases 14 or 15 year review - the problem is that subsequent editors are probably copyvio and other very tricky non english material - such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Kalasan - some individual articles like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plered so few edits subsequent to the creation in (2006 ? wow different planet different headspace ) JarrahTree 01:13, 9 February 2019 (UTC)

Fair enough - I have absolutely massive heaps in my shed, collected during fieldwork in the 1990s and the earlier shorter visits in 1980s and temporary residence in places in Australia and other places with really great archives - what might happen is some might be valid items for copying into source, or details into data, or even articles about... My favourite haunts in Yogya were old second hand book stores - I think if I got the right story from someone in the know - they (the stalls) and their stock were lost in fires in the Beringharjo area... Also a friend who is dispersing his book and pamphlet collection due to his 'gotta give it all away' stage of life - I have been able to get some more materials via his disperal - it is all a matter of time to regularly upload or copy or whatever. therein lies a nightmare

administrative fiascos and misrepresentation - pity we arent in same location, it would be time for a long coffee - villages and the admin units - some other time maybe, not now... its all to do with why the big edit outsiders lists of things appealed to 'list obsessed' early editors who created lists of villages, and the threshold of notability of admin units or villages has never been clearly established sufficiently to actully check rogue editors who set out to create an article for every non notable village in Indonesia (face smack) gurggle gurggle glump.... from memory most villages were NOT includable, unless there was an aspect of significant notability established - problem is whether english language sources could establish that as much as indonesian language sources - I am sure there are at least 100 un-notable villages that need removing... Most villages don't have significant notability in both language sources. For the Indonesian site, the pages serve as placeholders for improvements, as more districts in Indonesia today have built informative websites for each administrative subdivisions. Hatnote for Psalm pages

Hi John, I notice you've been adding hatnotes to the psalm pages (see here). But the hatnote is giving a different number for the Septuagint/Vulgate than we are giving in the lead. In the case of Psalm 13, the corresponding number is 12, not 14. Yoninah (talk) 22:02, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

@Yoninah: The hatnote is to inform the reader that "Psalm 13 in Septuagint/Vulgate numbering would correspond to Psalm 14 in Hebrew numbering," whereas in the lead, there is a note that "In the Greek Septuagint version of the bible, and in its Latin translation in the Vulgate, this psalm is Psalm 12." The Exodus

Hi! Was reading your article on The Exodus. Thank you for volunteering your time and knowledge. Your article references historical scholars believing an Israelite exodus from Egypt is more than likely a myth, eg. “Instead, archaeology suggests a native Canaanite origin for ancient Israel.[9]” I am not an Old Testament scholar, but in the book of Genesis, you will read that the Israelites did in fact originate in Canaan. John, you've used the word 'phoetic' in the articles on Jeremiah 46 to 49, referencing Coogan and O'Connor. I'm not sure what this word means - is it used by Coogan or O'Connor? @BobKilcoyne: O'Connor calls the compositions "poems", while Coogan calls them oracles and alludes to "lamentations" or "songs", so I propose a combination of "poetic oracles". James W. Fowler

Hello, JohnThorne! I have to admit that I'm a bit mystified at your recent reassessment of the James W. Fowler article. There is almost nothing in that article which tells us who Fowler actually was. Nearly all of the personal information is contained within the short lead. Most of the article is about one of Fowlers works... the stages of faith. And the rest of the article is about related works. That is all well and good, and if the article was about that particular work, or Fowler's body of work, it might come close to a "C" classification. But the article title is about a person, not a book or a body of work. And information on the person is barely "Start" class, certainly not "C". I think that it might be best to expand the biography, before considering upgrading the class assessment. Your call. Gulbenk (talk) 21:08, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

@Gulbenk: For the assessment, I am trying to carefully follow the criteria in here, which distinguish the Start class for "unencyclopedic, and Wikipedia:Manual of Style compliance non-existent" from C class for "more than one reliable source and is better developed in style". Your criteria seem to be closer to the ones for B class. It is often not easy to assess an article, so I am open to any suggestions to consider reassessments. Peace. @Tobias Epos: The term 'Ecce homo' (from the Greek: idoù ho ánthropos; "behold the man") only exists in John 19:5. The term in Matthew 25:6 is idoù ho nymphios ("behold the bridegroom") which is 'Ecce sponsus' in Latin. If you put the bible box of Matthew back, you should add a term related to this (linked to the Eastern Christianity interpretation article) in the "Phrases/Events" section. Peace. @Logawinner: On the top of the webpage, you can see your username, an image of a bell, an image of a monitor screen, "Talk", "Sandbox", "Preferences", "Beta", "Watchlist", "Contributions", "Log out". Click "Sandbox" to open a blank page. It is like a trial page. Copy the text you have written before, from the talk page of Genesis 3 to the Sandbox page. Edit the article (we will do it together) until it has all the required parts, especially the reliable sources, and sufficiently informative for readers like, for example, Psalm 84. @Logawinner: After checking the references, many of the links actually point to various Bible versions, some of which are duplicative. These links cannot be used as references. Two of the references are from original researches, which cannot be regarded as reliable sources. One of the references is not related to the article. I know you have been an editor for a long time, but you recently seem to have embarked on a phase of hyper-activity, with various issues. Your importance assessments are consistently too high, reaching a peal of craziness at All Saints' Anglican Church, Condobolin, which you rated as "mid" importance for several global projects, but "low" for the Australian project. If you were looking for an example of a low importance article for eg the architecture project, you could not do better than this! I have better things to do than follow you around. You need to read policies and the criteria for "importance" carefully and follow them. It's far better to have no assessment at all than a ridiculously high one, which makes the higher importance categories useless for others (and these are the only ones anybody ever looks at, and that's not very often). @Lydiafookes: If you check the edits, I did not completely remove it, but modify it to comply with the rules in Wikipedia. One important thing is the copyright issue: no copying and pasting copyrighted materials. The additions should just reflect the ideas in the sources. Maybe it is better to write big addition first in your Sandbox page (the option is always open from the top menu for all registered users) and work with others on it, before incorporating to the article. Psalm translations

Hi, thanks for putting in the work to restore the Hebrew and KJV. Please take a look at what I did on Psalm 21; I think the KJV should be formatted this way. Hello To editor JohnThorne:, I noticed you that have done several assessments in terms of quality and importance on some articles, and that in several projects of different nature (philosophy, christianism). I think that you can't assess an article according to a project if you are not part of it. I still have no idea how you're assessing things. For instance, you just assessed dcTalk as being of low importance while Don Moen was assessed as mid importance. Before I explain the number of awards—both Grammys and Doves—that each have won or simply been nominated for, and other metrics, I just want to hear your methodology. Secondly, while I am a it, this article has not been assessed yet by the WikiProjectRussia of wich you are part of. This article is a split from that article which was assessed "Start-class, Top-importance" by the WikiProjectRussia at the time.
