Battle of Liuzhou moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Battle of Liuzhou, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Zhao Chengshou, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Xuanhua (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Chinese generals edit

Glad to look at and reclassify those articles you mentioned on my Talk Page, though I left Li Yannian as a stub.

It's good to have these figures added to Wikipedia, but it would be even better to have them follow more of the guidelines. One, for instance, is that you need to indicate in the Edit Summary that the material is from the ZH Wiki.

Another is adding references, which is hard, but if you can't find references somebody will suggest deletion. At the top of several of the articles is the template saying that references are lacking, with links to web searches for the topic. Please keep up the good work! ch (talk) 21:38, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

For instance, the "book" link on the template for Li Jianzhen has several Google books with good information. ch (talk) 21:44, 10 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Jackson767, again, thanks for creating a page, but your good work and energy would produce better results if you applied them to the articles above, especially since several others have been deleted.
In addition, articles that are based on translating from the ZH or other Wikipedias need to, indeed are required to, acknowledge what they have done. Please see the requirement Translation from other language Wikimedia projects.
In this case, as in ZH WIki, the only footnote is to the Analects, and the text seems to have been cut and pasted because it start with 引用, which means "Citation."
It is better to do one useful article that will last than three or four that will get deleted.
I and other editors will be glad to help, but please meet us half way,ch (talk) 21:57, 18 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

This is a recurring problem - with your articles on Russian generals, please make an effort to add inline citations. This is easier than it seems as many of the sources on Imperial Russian Army generals can be found online. In addition, instead of just machine translating the articles, format them in a way that is easier to read in English by using paragraphs. Kges1901 (talk) 22:13, 4 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Uncredited machine translations edit

Please don't do what you did at Alfonsas Vincentas Ambraziūnas by machine translating another wikipedia's article (without credit). This violates both copyright/licensing rules (which we take seriously—WP:Licensing)—and in this case results in the inclusion of unsourced, low quality content with significant grammar errors. Translating from other wikis is encouraged but please only do it for the languages you can understand and proofread yourself. buidhe 20:48, 19 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

It would be helpful if you disclosed the languages you speak using a babel box like I have on my userpage. That way it would be easier to know what languages you understand and can translate from. buidhe 22:21, 19 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
I would like to emphasize what Buidhe says. Your creation of Alexander Karlovich Birger had substantial grammatical errors (not to mention it matched exactly with my google translation of the ruwiki page). If you do not speak Russian or English well enough to translate it into decently correct English, translating might not be the best way for you to contribute. I also don't see edit summary attribution:
You must provide copyright attribution in the edit summary accompanying your translation by providing an interlanguage link to the source of your translation. A model attribution edit summary Content in this edit is translated from the existing Russian Wikipedia article at ru:Потоцкий, Павел Платонович; see its history for attribution. (taken from the above section)
Also, just because an article is undersourced in a different language Wikipedia doesn't give it a 'free pass', our policies regarding sourcing and verifiability still apply (and of course wikipedia is not a reliable source, no matter what language it is. I appreciate your enthusiasm, and these are generally notable people, but these are things you need to be conscious of while editing. Please don't hesitate to reach out here, at the teahouse, or on my talk page if you have any further questions. Eddie891 Talk Work 12:57, 6 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Vasily Kirey moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Vasily Kirey, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.
