Awards

I was going to give you a service award or the like; but you've only been here three months. Which is like, 2,000 edits per month or something ridiculous. So I can't give you the one I wanted to give you. You're not an apprentice editor; such a title would be demeaning. So have a look on your userpage. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 02:06, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Alas, I have broken your userpage. I will endeavour to fix this. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 02:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
I think I fixed it now. maybe, anyway. Chase me ladies, I'm the Cavalry 02:11, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
It's excellent! Thank you very much for the kind words. And, yah, it's been a lot of edits a month. Anyway, I really appreciate it. Into The Fray T/C 03:09, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Another

  The Special Barnstar
Well, again, I must give you a barnstar as a reason already stated. A great start to Wikipedia, great anti-vandal work, great personality, nice.. I could go on, but I have a rather bruised hand! I see you alot around Wikipedia, so keep it up! — jacĸrм (talk) 03:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Also, I was going to add this your barnstars myself, but when I saw the code.. yeah. Enjoy! — jacĸrм (talk) 03:17, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

LOL! Not to worry; It's not that hard to do once you sort it out the first time (I certainly didn't). Anyway, thank you very much. A nice surprise in the morning. Cheers, Into The Fray T/C 11:43, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Pssst

Just wanted to let you know that I did get your note, and I appreciate it! I'll let you know ahead of time, as you requested. And thanks for the note! ~*Hugs*~ ArielGold 16:48, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Er. So that's....no? A little confused, Into The Fray [[]]T/C 16:50, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
LOL It isn't a "no", just a "not yet/now".   But I promise to let you know if/when that changes, if you'd like. ArielGold 16:58, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Ahhhh. Sometimes I'm a little dim. ;) Thanks for the fix to the page, I'd been trying to figure that out. Into The Fray T/C 17:01, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, 15px is better, I initially had it at 10, but wasn't sure if you'd had no padding on purpose, so decided to go with a baby step of 5px, lol. It just was difficult to see the letter "I" if it was up against the border, lol. I'm glad you don't mind! ArielGold 17:14, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
It bugged me. I'm not much of a coder; This page is basically a big rip of Phaedriel's talk page, which you no doubt noticed, particularly if you looked at the source. Thanks much for your help! Into The Fray T/C 19:12, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
I'd say that the majority of custom userpages (including mine) trace their origins back to our lovely Design Queen.   Okay I'm really off to bed now! Night night Fray, ArielGold 20:01, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

← A belated good night to you, Ariel. I'm off to give it my best shot myself. Into The Fray T/C 23:05, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Help

Should The Stig Some Say be proposed for deletion. I can't see any meaning in the article that is constructive whatsoever. Shawnpoo 12:44, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Shawn. It seems to be a non-notable list of fancruft to me. I would prod it and suggest that it be merged into The Stig (which is notable) and, if the prod tag is removed, I think it's worthy of an AfD. Cheers, Into The Fray T/C 14:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

How about Joseph L. Carwise Middle School? It isn't that notable. Shawnpoo 15:46, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm never sure on schools, though I prefer not to delete them because they're sure to pop back up, though I'll generally check to see whether they really exist or not. I've asked if there's an applicable guideline or policy at the help desk to see whether someone can point us in the right direction. I'd encourage you not to prod or Afd it (because I believe all schools are notable enough to warrant an article, but that's my opinion), but to clean it up and "stubify" it instead. I'll let you know if I hear about a guideline for schools.
Also, regarding The Stig Some Say, I see you've prod'd it. Another option that I didn't think of this morning would been to have put {{mergeto|The Stig}} at the top of it and {{mergefrom|The Stig Some Say}} at the top of The Stig. That will usually generate a discussion about the pages. Let me know how the prod goes. We'll see what comes of it. Cheers, Into The Fray T/C 20:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, as I expected, a couple editors jumped on it for me and pointed me to some policy discussion. As far as concerns schools, it seems largely unsettled. Here's a copy and paste from the help desk:
Yes, it is discussed in Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Common_outcomes and (I think) WP:NN. Neranei (talk) 20:30, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
See WP:SCHOOL for a list of old proposals about notability. I cant see anything linking to a guideline from the Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools im afraid. Woodym555 20:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Take a look through there; Then I'll leave it to your judgment. Cheers, Into The Fray T/C 20:46, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for all your help! I really appreciate it. Shawnpoo 01:36, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Bird College

Thanks for helping me with putting the sources in place. I am finding other relevant ones, which I will add to the list of sources as I go so you can have a look, it should be easy to see which part of the article each one relates to. Your help with this will be much appreciated as I look to improve the article even more. I'm also looking for photos, I have loads in my collection, but it's which ones would be useful. I know for a lot of people looking at the article, they probably wouldn't understand the prestige of Bird College, but certainly for anyone who is involved with dance, there is a high chance that they might Google Birds, and they will probably find the wikipedia article, so I would like to make it as informative as possible. Crazy-dancing 17:33, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I believe if you Google "Bird College" these days, the article is the first thing that pops up. Not unusual; Wikipedia generally gets high ranking in Google searches. If it's not the first, then it's the second. Remember that your sources do not have to be available online. If you have a book that you'd like to cite as a reference, or a newspaper/magazine clipping, etc...etc, then you can cite it, it just has to be verifiable. Let me know what you come across and I'll be glad to help with including it in the article. Into The Fray T/C 20:35, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

User:Labs1950:JOSÉ BERNAL

Hello, as I begin writing this, I am not certain that I am in the correct place to ask for assistance. I am rather lost in the midst of attempting to complete the page for José Bernal. But, I will ask the questions nevertheless. If I am in the wrong place, perhaps you will direct me elsewhere.

  1. 1. I need to find out how to label the photograph that already appears in my sandbox, it should read: José Bernal, 1974
  1. 2. Today I uploaded 4 jpegs of 4 paintings by Bernal. The uploads are listed in my contributions, however, they are not appearing in my sandbox article. Why, and can you let me know how I should be able to get them to appear, as well as let me know how to label each of the 4 images?

Once I have accomplished the tasks mentioned above, my third question is: how do I submit the finished article to Wikipedia so that it can appear in the permanent pages of Wikipedia?

I thank you for your past assistance and want you to know that your response to this message will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Labs1950 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Labs1950 (talkcontribs) 18:27, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

INTO THE FRAY: Following your advice...

Hello again -Into the Fray- I followed your advice and made a few changes that -hopefully- are in line and an improvement to the work on the José Bernal article. As you may gather, I would like to have your opinion, when you have the time, of course. That is all for now, although I must add that I looked into your Wikipedia work/contributions and was impressed, as well as confirmed what I had sensed about your having a great deal of knowledge about Wikipedia and its workings. W/appreciation, Note: I just finished reading FUHGHETTABOUTIT's note of 10:40, 9 OCT, where he/she enlightened me about the correct way to send a message. FUHGHETTABOUTIT wrote that he/she intercepted my message and forwarded(?) to you. So now, I am going to try to correctly send FUHGETTABOUTIT a note of THANKS!!!! Also, I hope this one gets to you... --Labs1950 06:57, 11 October 2007 (UTC)Labs1950

re User:Imarealboy sockpuppets

I just indef blocked a bunch you bought to AIV. I would, however, ask whether it would have been quicker to take it to WP:SSP? LessHeard vanU 12:58, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your response. I think SSP has better experience in recognising sockpuppet activity and when given the report will likely find other examples. Of course if the socking is ongoing and needs squashing fast then AIV is the place, but a puppetmaster needs to log in and out of each account when socking (unless using multiple computers/ISP's... yikes!) so therefore some examples might be stale when reviewed by AIV admins - SSP does not have such concerns. In your instance the socking was obvious as each account was promoting the same name/link, but not all reports are as clear. I hope this helps, and all the best with your studying. Great follow-through with the Kevin Erskine situation from you and User:Iridescent. :D --Moonriddengirl 00:11, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Aww, thanks Moonriddengirl! It was your idea to make the post to the notice board. That never even occurred to me. I'd say it was good teamwork all around. Cheers, Into The Fray T/C 00:13, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
I hate having to leave when stuff like that is unresolved. Good thing about Wikipedia is that such teamwork does exist. As frustrating as it may have been for him, I hope he'll at least be satisfied that Wikipedians are motivated to help out. :) --Moonriddengirl 00:15, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Chain joy is good! Thanks. :D --Moonriddengirl 00:27, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hrmm

I don't see in the history where you've added the quote, what is the quote you want added? ArielGold 11:54, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

D'oh!
John Milton, Paradise Lost

Okay, here's the thing. The TOC and the archive box are both automatically in place, both templates. I'm not sure that you can place a quote between the two. Let me try forcing them into a three column table, but you may have to put the quote above them. Can I move your TOC over to the right, and make it a custom TOC? It might work better that way. ArielGold 12:12, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

You, my dear, may do whatever you like to my pages as long as it's not an inconvenience to you. Into The Fray T/C 12:14, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Hrmm, that archive box is the biggest problem, you can't customize a darn thing about it. Blah. lol. Lemme see what I can come up with. ArielGold 12:18, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps subst'ing the archive box template would help? Never good at this stuff, Into The Fray T/C 12:20, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Nah, you can't subst that template, or it won't a auto populate. I figured it out, let me know if you like it. ArielGold 12:30, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Perfect. Thank you!! Into The Fray T/C 12:33, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
Glad you like it! ArielGold 12:39, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
You are the best. Have a great day. Into The Fray T/C 12:40, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your question

I'm sorry; I wish I could help, but I am pretty clueless about sockpuppetry and search things. What I would do, if faced with this, is either take it to WP:AN/I or track down one of the administrators who routinely contributes to Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser and ask advice of him or her. A quick glance tells me that my first choice would be User:Lar. Not in the least bit bitey and looks very likely to give good, well thought-out advice. :) --Moonriddengirl 23:50, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Here's another option, and this one is on IRC: User talk:Deskana. --Moonriddengirl 23:53, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

CUV

Could you fix my entry in the CUV pager page? Thanks, Laleena 16:40, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Not sure I'm sure what you mean, Laleena. You seem to have added yourself correctly.... What's the issue? Into The Fray T/C 16:52, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the revert on my userpage. It was very much appreciated :D AngelOfSadness talk 00:06, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Hey ITF...I've been away from AAU for a while, but I'm kinda considering going back there soon. I still have the userboxes! So yeah, if you could rename me, that would be sweet. Thanks, Dihydrogen Monoxide (H2O) 02:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
