Wicked slick! I love it and it balances the colors much better. Of course, I can't really take credit for my own user page to begin with. Other than switching to some stodgy colors, I really had little to do with. I'm about as graphically inclined as a dog chewing on a crayon. Re:Random question

Just so you know, the conversation is still going, and going, and going, like an Energizer bunny! And, we think we've found the solution: IE is seeing "grey" as "green" (for whatever reason, I won't begin to try to explain IE's quirks, lol) and if you put the color in as its hexidecimal number, it will render in IE correctly. Turning off in-line cleanup template messages

Hi Into The Fray. I was referred to you by WinCamXP at Wikipedia:Help desk, where I asked the following:

Is there a way for a reader to have Wikipedia not display messages such ^{[Citation needed]} (the {{Fact}} tag)? I have an editor removing these templates from an article, and I would like to give him an option besides refraining from vandalism. / edg ☺ ★ 21:38, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Turning off tags . . .

To "turn off" a tag without actually removing the markup that makes it, you should use the "nowiki" modifier. Example:

The sky is blue.

The sky is blue{{fact}}.

Edit the text and you'll see what I mean. This, to me, would be the same as removing the tag, though. Into The Fray ^T/C 22:13, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

If I recall correctly, a user account can be configured to not display citation links (css maybe? I've never looked into it). I was wondering if the user who is so offended by these tags could be given an option for them to not be displayed. I'm guessing this is not possible. / edg ☺ ★ 22:21, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

CSS editing is beyond my expertise. You might be right, but I doubt whether it's possible to turn one template off without turning them all off. Anyway, you might rephrase your question at the helpdesk because, despite WinCamXP's dubious vote of confidence, I'm not an expert. Sorry for the misunderstanding. No, I haven't listed myself on the users who are adopting page. I will probably some time in the near future.  :) I meet the criteria though, as I have well over 500 edits, no blocks and haven't vandalized. As for user page decoration, I'm afraid I'm not the best source for that. My page was created by Daniel a couple of months ago and my changes to it have been minimal. I am more familiar with policy and editing and helping folks get used to the format around here, which I believe can be a little daunting. What is it that you want to do with your user page? Can't hide!

I saw that! And actually I do that sometimes, but I don't consider that compulsive at all. Twinkle at least posts the header for the month. Of course, not everyone does that, and not every bot does either, (MartinBot doesn't, etc.) so, my "perfectionist tendencies" do come into play there, as I'll often move the header up above the rest of the warnings for the month, but again it is helpful to the patrollers and admins to know how many notices were given, so at least I can justify it, lol. ^Ariel♥Gold 10:29, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

I never really thought of that, it is handy. When I'm vandal patrolling, I set my preferences to the preview on first edit setting so I can see quickly what someone's been warned for before I throw down a warning myself. Else, I'm clicking preview a lot, particularly with school IP's, etc. In other news, if you're interested, check out this random bit of surreal meanness for some strange reading. I'm a dog owner/fan myself (one of these days, I'll get around to uploading a pic of my dog) and I think I saw a couple human interest pieces on the dog. I wasn't aware that the owner had written books. I disagree with you that the username and the person are two different people, mostly because the edits that were happening to the blog were pretty darn close to the edits that were happening here. So it's a mighty big coincidence that Stringfellow the person just happened to be looking at Wikipedia around the same time that Stringfellow the impostor was posting to Wikpedia. Throw in the shifting "it's one of my students" arguments that were made from both sources, the obvious indicators of fragile ego for both sources and, well . . . it's my belief that they're the same person. Also, there's the fact that the link that the user posted contained "Success=Your+edit+was+saved", which is highly suggestive that she had just saved her blog entry and then ran right over and posted the link here. It's really immaterial, though. I was merely trying to help whomever it was, because I really think that she's a borderline topic for inclusion here, but obviously neither entity (if there really are two) has any interest in participating constructively.
