Many of the bands you entered are already on the list. It is not an alphabetical list. There are numerous sub-genre listings that are alpha based. That list is intended to be a support piece for the main article. It should resemble featured lists such as the List of Telecaster players. You edit also included flag icons which have been discussed across many Wikipedia projects and are not to be used as simple decorations see WP:MOSFLAG. Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 15:07, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

One other thing to note about the "list of X metal bands" is that most of them have been nominated for deletion since alphabetical lists do nothing that a category doesn't already do. That is why the list of heavy metal bands is altered away from that format. Because if it is an alpha list it is pretty much useless. I see that the List of thrash metal bands has been improved in order to stave of elimination. The list of folk metal bands is also a bit more than just an alpha list. The list of heavy metal bands is one of those "work in progress" articles that has a foundation for expansion but has slipped through the cracks as far as improvement goes. If you want to see a plain list of heavy metal bands that already exists. See: Category:Musical groups by nationality. Every heavy metal bands is among those nationality pages. If you want a project. Category:Heavy metal musical groups is a category that has been added to dozens of music articles incorrectly. All the artists that have that category need to have it removed/replaced by the proper "Category:'X Country' heavy metal musical groups". Those categories replace the need for a simple alpha list. Blaze/Bayley

I had originally made the same change myself, but then decided that a person coming to the Blaze disambig was more likely to have been looking for the older name of the band (BLAZE) than the newer one (Blaze Bayley, like the vocalist). What did Gaspar Tochman do that would make an article about him appropriate for Wikipedia? So far all that was listed in the deleted article was that he fought in the US Civil War, apparently as a n ordinary soldier, since no rank or command is mentioned. Hundreds of thousands of people did that. What makes Gaspar Tochman notable?

If I were the deleting admin (which I am not), and if you had a reasonable answer to the above, i would move a copy of the deleted article to a page in your user space, such as User:Hoodinski/Gaspar Tochman/draft. There you could work on it until it was ready to move back to the main article space. You could also start in new article in such a location. drafts in userspace are far less subject to speedy deletion (although copyright violations and advertisements and such do still get deleted). Sejm (Łotwa)

Hi, my Polish skills are insufficient, therefore I decided to contact you here, although the problem revolves an entry in the Polish Wikipedia: http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sejm_%C5%82otewski

I would greatly appreciate if you could comment on my concerns regarding the name of the article - I'm quite certain that the authors of it have erroneously assumed that the name of the Latvian parliament (Saeima) means "Sejm" or is somehow derived from the Polish/Lithuanian word or has it's roots in Polish or Lithuanian. The truth is that the word only looks similar to it's Polish counterpart, but has it's own seperate history, so to speak.

In other words, I currently consider it a distortion of the name of the Latvian parliament. Can the difference be possibly explained by some Polish linguistic rules or is it really just a mistake? Kursis (talk) 16:47, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

here's a copy of the paragraph: "The word "Saeima" meaning "a gathering, a meeting, a council" was constructed by the Young Latvian Juris Alunāns. It stems from the archaic Latvian word eima meaning "to go" (derived from the PIE *ei "to go" and also a cognate with the Ancient Greek eimi, Gaulish eimu among others)"

The word Saeima is now used only as the name of the Latvian parliament (you won't see the word saeima, as it's never written with the smaller case 's'), it is not used as a regular word to describe any other kinds of meetings, councils or the parliaments of other countries.

The question is, do you translate the names of other parliaments in Polish? Saeima is analogous to Althing or Riigikogu - it might mean something, but it's essentially a proper noun. If you translate all the proper nouns in Polish, "Sejm" could be the most appropriate translation. If you don't, it certainly is a mistake. Kursis (talk) 20:26, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Lastly, I'm beginning to work at Platine War (the "prequel" to Uruguayan War). Would you be interested in helping me with a map for it (I want to keep a standard on all these articles about wars in the region)? It would be even more simple than the one you made. Sorry about that. I uploaded a map that might help you: File:Mapt to be erased.jpg. I realized that the contested area between Brazil and Paraguay is far larger. The book I used as source got it wrong. You can see a colored map that might help you fix the one you made: File:Krigsteater trippelalliansekrigen.png. New requests

Hi, Hoodinski. I'm working on Portuguese invasion of the Eastern Bank (1811–1812), my next FAC. It's a war that occurred in the very same region as Uruguayan War, but only 50 years earlier. I'll need two maps: one of the Platine region just like File:Territorial disputes in the Platine region in 1864.svg and File:Uruguayan War.svg. For the time being, forget the second one. I created two maps to help you out:

• File:Territorial disputes in the Platine region in 1811.png
• File:Portuguese invasion of the Eastern Bank (1811–1812).jpg

What the map of the Platine region in 1811 differs from the one in 1864:

1. The names: Bolivia was called "Upper Peru", Argentina was "Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata", Uruguay was "Eastern Bank" and Brazil was "State of Brazil" (a Portuguese colony). Paraguay was still Paraguay.
2. All borders are exactly the same, with one exception: the United Province's southern border. The future Argentina was much smaller than it would be later. I recommend this map: File:Mapa ARGENTINA frontera.png (keep yourself with the 1771 border as seen in the map).
3. The disputed territories are even greater. The Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata broke itself in different parts: Upper Peru, Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata, Paraguay and the Eastern Bank. All the disputed territories in 1864 are still valid, but there are more now. The Viceroyalty regarded Paraguay, Eastern Bank and Upper Peru as part of its territory (see the map I created).

See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. This can help you too, as the WikiProject members will often defend your work from deletion and try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information.
