DYK for Peter Milliman

On 2 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Peter Milliman, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Peter Milliman coached Team Russia at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championship despite not knowing until that year that they even had a team? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Peter Milliman. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Peter Milliman), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WHOCKEY Newsletter: April 2021

Women's Ice Hockey Task Force Newsletter: April 2021

Finland‘s defensive stalwarts Jenni Hiirikoski and goaltender Noora Räty stifle a goal attempt by Elin Holmlöv of Sweden during the 2011 World Championship.

Happy Spring WHOCKEY editors!

After more than a year without international women’s ice hockey, we’re finally just a month away from the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship! The IIHF Worlds, in partnership with the Olympic Games, are the most watched annual women’s ice hockey tournaments in the world and spark more interest in the women’s game than any other events. We have a great opportunity to enrich the fan experience by offering up-to-date and informative articles about players, national teams, and other subjects related to the tournament.

The only women's players included in WP:NHOCKEY are players who have competed in the Top Division of the World Championship – meaning a bevy of player bios will get to be created in the next month. Hungary is set to make its Top Division debut and Denmark is returning to the Top Division for the first time since 1992. What an exciting time to be editing!

Articles related to the 2021 Worlds that are in need of creation, updates, or edits are collected at the National Teams & International Tournaments initiative page. Please add to the list if you find something in need of attention so we may collaborate and help one another in the coming weeks.

Did you know ...

WP:GNG takes precedence over WP:NHOCKEY (which only includes players on women's national teams at the highest tier of IIHF competition)? Often times there is enough media coverage to meet WP:GNG or other notability guidelines. Be sure to tag the task force on the talk page of new articles with: {{WikiProject Women's sport|icehockey=yes}}

2020–21 Season in Women's Ice Hockey Leagues

What a wild ride the 2020–21 season has been! Many leagues were able to complete the season despite the need for alternations and amendments with respect to COVID-19. Hearty congratulations to all of the league champions – 2020–21 is definitely one for the history books.

W. R. Granger

I recently created W. R. Granger. Could you suggest any DYK hooks? Thanks in advance. Flibirigit (talk) 20:29, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Flibirigit, sure. How about:
    • That the funeral of W. R. Granger was reported to be one of the largest funerals ever known in Montreal?
    • That W. R. Granger was described as one of Montreal's most popular businessmen?

Hope this helps. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:40, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I will play around with this tonight. Flibirigit (talk) 22:19, 4 April 2021 (UTC)

Sorry!!

Sorry to have caused an edit conflict with my rather unnecessary edit on the GA review. I'll stay off the page til you're done to make sure it doesn't happen again ... just ping me whenever that is. I will say that SBNation.com is used in all kinds of promoted WP:BASEBALL content, including featured article Jim Thome, good article Jimmy Rollins, etc. It's published by Vox ... looks like the only WP:RSN entry is indeterminate Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_285#Is_it_appropriate_to_use_SBNation_as_a_reference? ... the quality varies site-to-site, but in my experience, the Phillies site is generally reliable particularly for the type of content cited here. Can discuss more at the GAN page, but just wanted to flag before I forgot. Sorry again about the edit conflict! Go Phightins! 18:03, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Go Phightins! no worries, I should've saved my work. Alright, I thought it was alongside Fansided (which I have written for and would not deem reliable for Wikipedia). Thanks for letting me know. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:11, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
No worries. Honestly, it's hard to keep track. I'd tend to agree about Fansided, for what it's worth. Go Phightins! 18:15, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Kevin Hayes (ice hockey)

On 11 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kevin Hayes (ice hockey), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that hockey player Kevin Hayes came within two hours of needing his leg amputated due to compartment syndrome? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kevin Hayes (ice hockey). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Kevin Hayes (ice hockey)), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Deleted article

Hi, why did you delete my article!

Hi Otsamar and welcome to Wikipedia. I deleted the article because it was essentially your resume. Please read over Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 13:08, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

Quadeca

Hey, I saw that you protected the Quadeca page since it was being repeatedly recreated in 2020. I didn't see that, so I created my own version here and tried to move it until I saw that it was protected. Do you think it's able to be replaced or is it still falling short of nobility? Thanks. reppoptalk 22:57, 18 April 2021 (UTC)

Reppop, sure I'll remove the protections. I do recommend adding references for the second para under career though as everything on Wikipedia needs a source. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:12, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
Alright, I'll add some references before moving. Thank you! reppoptalk 23:13, 18 April 2021 (UTC)
