Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup

Hi. I know that you're Canadian and have an interest in ice hockey, and while it's an entirely different sport, do you have any interest in Ringette? The article linked above is not the best of shape at the moment, especially compared to some of my other articles. I probably should have started it in draft space first. I'm trying to do some research of my own, but if you can help at all, I'd greatly appreciate it. Clovermoss (talk) 23:50, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

Sure Clovermoss, sounds interesting. It might be easier if you started expanding the article in a sandbox so both of us can work on it simultaneously. I just worry if you are doing your own research we may overlap. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:24, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
That sounds great! Is there a specific sandbox you had in mind? Again, thanks for offering to help. I really appreciate it. Clovermoss (talk) 00:26, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
No, just like User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup (or under your user name). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay! A subpage anywhere is great, as long as I know where it is. Clovermoss (talk) 00:34, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss,   Done (User:HickoryOughtShirt?4/Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup). Just copy and paste whatever you have started (if anything) and I'll help where I can. Maybe also post on some Women In Red Project pages too.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:38, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss, Betty Shields deserves an article too ([1]). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:28, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Okay, I'll see what I can do! I just spent the past half hour trying to improve the Olympics section of Ringette, see here [2] if interested. That article has a section of notable athletes as well, most of which are red links. Clovermoss (talk) 01:43, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Have to go to bed now since it's a schoolnight. I'll do more research on Betty tomorrow and everything else if I have the time, but the little I was able to find about her was quite impressive! She's definitely notable. Clovermoss (talk) 02:00, 16 October 2019 (UTC)
Today was busy. Didn't have as much time to edit. These two articles are my priotory as soon as possible tomorrow, though. Clovermoss (talk) 02:38, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Clovermoss, no worries. It is reading week for me so that's why I've been on Wikipedia a lot today. There is no deadline, so do not worry. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:39, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
I'm going to have a few solid hours on the weekend, and I'm hoping I can use it to improve the article/research more about Betty Shields. Clovermoss (talk) 22:40, 31 October 2019 (UTC)

EnergyWatch, LLC Deletion

Hi there,

I noticed you had deleted the page I created for EnergyWatch, LLC due to meeting speedy deletion criteria. Thanks for being so diligent. I am going to write another version of the page to correct some issues you brought to my attention.

Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.93.14.182 (talk) 19:44, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi IP. I must first say that this is one of the kindest messages I have received, so thank you. You may want to look at WP:CORP which tells you about the criteria all corporations must pass to have a Wiki article. I also recommend checking out WP:YFA for guidance. New wiki page for Matt Lange

HickoryOughtShirt?4 Why did you delete my page for Matt Lange (Musician)? The articles you cited were links to Matt's booking agency (York Artists), where Matt is represented by lead agent/founder, Phil York and a recent podcast interview he did for Liquid Cinema. Matt Lange currently does not have a Wikipedia page and it's imperative that one be created. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Youngmanchris (talkcontribs) 16:05, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Youngmanchris and welcome to Wikipedia. It is pretty obvious you have a conflict of interest with this person and are therefore subject to some bias. Sources linking to his booking agency are not appropriate for Wikipedia as we rely on third party sources. I don't see why it is "imperative that one be created" unless, as stated above, you have a conflict of interest. If this is so, you must follow our conflict of interest guidelines, specifically WP:DISCLOSE. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:35, 4 November 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Anne L. Stevens

On 9 November 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Anne L. Stevens, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Anne L. Stevens disguised herself in order to enroll in the male-only mechanics pit crew at a race track? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Anne L. Stevens. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Anne L. Stevens), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Glasgow Life

Glasgow Life was recently approved for speedy deletion by yourself, and I'd seek to contest the deletion basis it is a promotional or irrelevant article regarding an organisation. I've gone into more detail on Cassiopeia's talk page, and written up an initial justification for the existence of the piece on my talk page. At very least, looking to get the markup made available to me. With thanks for your time

Rleyton (talk) 10:13, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Just to add my voice to this. You have made an error in deleting this page. I would strongly urge you to reconsider. Alternatively, why not defer to a local Scottish admin who will have a better understanding of the context of Scotland's municipal organisations, much in the same way one might to someone discussing a canadian subject might to you. pm098172 15:04, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

@Rleyton: Restored to User:Rleyton/Glasgow Life (sandbox). I recommend finding third party sources to improve the article. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:22, 9 November 2019 (UTC)

Why deleting Ahman Pategi

Why did you delete this informative and useful page Ahman Pategi, I think it a selfish reasons to do that, and also for the person that put that tag (dn-banned). If you want to do something like this, always think of people first. that's what religion and culture teaches us. Am telling you that this page deleted was very useful for Nigerians because in the whole Africa Nigeria are highest viewer of Wikipedia. If you can undo this deletion please do it because the elementary school in Nigeria ask students in examination to give a little brief about people like this page you just deleted.

Ralph Mellanby

Just in case you're interested (as you've been active in creating new articles for WP:HOCKEY in the past), I started an article for HNIC producer Ralph Mellanby yesterday. Thinking of nominating it at DYK, but not really sure of a hook yet. Connormah (talk) 00:54, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Connormah. I’ll take a look at it! Im sure a hook is hiding there somewhere. I’m still trying to work on more WP:HOCKEY people in more niche areas, so if you have any suggestions I’m all ears. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:02, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
Wow Connormah, very cool dude and nicely put together article. I'm not sure if you were asking me to help with hook suggestions but a few caught my eye. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:17, 14 November 2019 (UTC)
ALT0: ....that Ralph Mellanby became the producer of Hockey Night in Canada in 1966 and hired personalities including Ron MacLean, Don Cherry, and Howie Meeker?
ALT1: ....that Canadian sportscaster and television producer Ralph Mellanby received five Emmy Awards, two Kennedy Awards, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sports Media Canada during his career?
ALT2: ....that Ralph Mellanby, producer of Hockey Night in Canada, oversaw the implementation of slow motion replay and microphone and camera setups throughout the rink enhance the viewer experience?
Thanks! Was thinking something along the lines of ALT0 or ALT2 but was unsure of wording. Will hopefully nominate it later today or tomorrow. Connormah (talk) 13:51, 14 November 2019 (UTC)

Rick Butler sexual abuse allegations

I was in the process of providing a source, I had to leave to go to an appointment and couldn't add the source. I wanted to come back to it later, but it was deleted in seconds.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kammabamma (talkcontribs) 02:54, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Kammabamma and welcome to Wikipedia. One of the most important policies on Wikipedia is verifiability. Everything on Wikipedia needs a source. The content you added was not only unsourced, but would not be acceptable even if you did. It was not neutral at all. Are you in anyway connected to Butler or Sports Performance Volleyball Club? Live Ocean page deleted

Sorry I don't understand why this has been deleted . Live Ocean is a new Ocean charitable trust set up in New Zealand by Olympic Gold medallists and Americas cup winners Peter Burling and Blair Tuke.

Do I need to add references to the large number of media outlets which covered the launch (including TVNZ and the NZ hearls- NZ's major national newspaper? . Whay do I have do do to credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject.

I'll try again and add more references to see if this pleases you. Hb26 (talk) 07:16, 15 November 2019 (UTC)Hb26

The deleted Jesmond Library page

Hi!

Many thanks for your explainations regarding copyright, etc. It certainly wasn't my intention to plagiarise, sorry.

However, I would like to amend the page appropriately but can no longer find it! Can you point me in the right direction? I would have done this sooner but I've been away for a few days.

Many thanks

Hi Picrosso. Unfortunately, Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and the page has been deleted. I recommend creating articles through WP:YFA, where experienced editors will review it before it goes into mainspace. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 15:48, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Many thanks for your latest message re: copyright. I understand about the seriousness on copyright abuse, in my previous guise my journalistic endeavours were often used by others. It just seems somewhat Draconian that a page with 2 short paragraphs should be deleted especially when : 1 I am a member of the organisation that wrote the original text; 2 I volunteer at the library; 3 I was asked to have a try at putting a page together on Wikipedia at their latest AGM; 4 The paragraphs concerned were to act as holding text prior to being rewritten. Following your deletion I assume that I have to redraft the page with all the other items that DID NOT abuse copyright. Perhaps a better method would be to allow contributors to correct their mistakes within an allowed timescale with errors highlighted, I don't know. Picrosso — Preceding unsigned comment added by Picrosso (talkcontribs) 16:25, 15 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi Picrosso, and thanks for the response. I absolutely see your point but we have no way of knowing these facts. If you do own the copyright, you'll have to follow Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. As well, since you have a conflict of interest with this organization, then you must disclose your affiliation and follow our rules. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Hi there

I made changes to the St Paul's College page, seeing as I am a staff member at the College.

I would appreciate you reverting the page to the changes I had made as I had been tasked with updating our recent history.

Kind regards

Hi James.turner1993 and welcome to Wikipedia. Firstly, the content you posted was unsourced, so I will not be re-adding that. Thank you for disclosing your conflict of interest however that means you now must follow our Wikimedia Terms of Use and disclose your connection on the appropriate pages.
Please understand that no one owns this page, you do not have a right to dictate what is written on it (unless it violates our biography of a living person policy) and your best bet would be to walk away. Us volunteer editors often resent that paid or conflict of interest editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward themselves or their clients, and write promotionally. A neutral point of view is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia, and is non-negotiable. All of your edits (besides being unsourced) are being added to promote yourself. The encyclopedia is here for knowledge, it isn't here to be used as a personal website.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:27, 26 November 2019 (UTC)

I am slowly working on the missing German, Austrian and Swiss inductees. Flibirigit (talk) 19:14, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

@Flibirigit: I absolutely have time and would love to help. I might be editing a little less in the next 4 days because of work I need to catch up on (at least I should be editing less but Wikiaddiction is real) but I'd be happy to help whenever I can. I find Google Chrome's translation app very helpful so it shouldn't be too hard working on non North-American people. How do you want to go about it? Do you have people who are a "priority" or do you want to split it up 50/50?HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:19, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
There's no rush to complete the list. I'm working on other subjects too. It's probably easier to focus on one country all at once, so you sort of get used to one language for a while. Also, most of these people have biographies in other Wiki languages. If you're working on Subrt, do you want to do all three of the Czech members? I will do the members from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, since I can speak some German. Flibirigit (talk) 19:24, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
Sure, no problem! I've checked out Subrt's page on other Wikipedia's and have used at least one of the same source but they are typically pretty poorly sourced unfortunately. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:27, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
I see you already started Quido Adamec, and connected him to his versions in other languages. Well done. Flibirigit (talk) 00:46, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
And thank you for copyediting! Grammar is not my strong suit. Subrt is taking a little longer because I feel there are huge gaps of information I want to fill in but I have it sitting in my sandbox. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:48, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
No rush at all, there's no deadline. I probably will only do just one or two IIHF Hall of Famers per month, since I am focusing on other things. Flibirigit (talk) 01:01, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
The IIHF Hall of Fame article itself could use some improvements too. Flibirigit (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

I noticed some additions to the list of inductees to include the Torriani Award. Could you verify the names? I'm on a mobile phone for a couple days and have limited access. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 17:55, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit I've gone around and can confirm that each person listed as a Torriani Award winner has actually received the award. I found it strange no mention of this was on Torriani's page so I will be making a point to greatly expand that page sometime in the future. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:11, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into this.Flibirigit (talk) 22:14, 6 February 2019 (UTC)

Checklist 1

Red links at List of members of the IIHF Hall of Fame. This list should make sure we don't duplicate each other's efforts. Flibirigit (talk) 17:58, 27 January 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit Right now I can take the Swedes and Calcaterra if you don't mind. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:30, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
That's fine. You will probably be going faster than I am. While you're working on the Czechs, would you be able to dig up sources on Mike Buckna? He's a Canadian-Czech and really undercited. Flibirigit (talk) 16:06, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
I just finished a big article overhaul. I should have time for a couple of these this week. Flibirigit (talk) 05:19, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Keep up the good work, and thanks for finishing the Czechs! Flibirigit (talk) 21:17, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Wow, you are so fast on catching that! Thanks for the support, it took a little longer than I thought but it's good. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:22, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Since you're in that linguistic area, mind if I give you the Slovakian bio? I should have three of my own for next week. Flibirigit (talk) 21:26, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Ya, no problem! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:28, 2 February 2019 (UTC)
Switzerland is finished. When you're ready to do Dahlberg from Sweden, there are citations available at the Joe Kryczka article. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 22:11, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Denmark is done. I won't be online much for a few days. Will check back with you on the weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
It looks really good, thank you for the update. I am currently working on Berglund. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:28, 6 February 2019 (UTC)
Do you mind adding the Torriani Award winners without articles to this list? I can't cut and paste well on my phone. Also, please put the Hungarians under my name. Thanks! Flibirigit (talk) 19:28, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Flibirigit   Self-trout Whoops, sorry! I just made a page for Dieter Kalt Sr. because I must've missed him on your side of the list. I hope you haven't done much research for him. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:30, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
No worries. He was the only one I hadn't got around to. I have done preliminary research on the others. I will replace him with the biography from Norway. Flibirigit (talk) 00:46, 8 February 2019 (UTC)
Germany is finally done. I'm going to work on the Austria-Hungary biographies now :) Flibirigit (talk) 21:25, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for the update! I have been swamped with work but I am slowly working through Arne Grunander and Curt Berglund. It's difficult based on the age of these guys to find quality sourcing. I am always impressed by how thorough the pages you create are. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:30, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, and no rush here. Flibirigit (talk) 21:44, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
I have no idea how to read Hungarian... google translate helped a lot! Flibirigit (talk) 07:23, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
I've been using google translate a lot for these Swedish fellows because sometimes google chrome isn't being triggered. Honestly, half of my family is from Montreal and I still have a Grade 8 basic level of French! Great new article! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 07:26, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Schade... quel dommage... drats! I added in the previous red links I started in case you want to read. I think we're making good progress with this list. We should be finished by springtime. Flibirigit (talk) 17:53, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
I struggled to find much on Norway. I left it as a sourced stub. Flibirigit (talk) 15:48, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
One more Russian down. We're getting close! Flibirigit (talk) 21:26, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Dokončila sa ďalšia. I just completed Ladislav Horský. I found a surprising amount of web based content on him despite his death in the 1980s. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:51, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
We're making good progress lately. Flibirigit (talk) 22:01, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
I've had a couple days off from work (thank you Dalton McGuinty) so I've been spending a lot of time editing.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:05, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Walter Waterbird was hard to find much for. Flibirigit (talk) 17:28, 23 February 2019 (UTC)
A contributor from Norway expanded the Tore Johannessen stub, and I found a couple more sources for him. I will probably start on Hans Dobida on Monday! How are you doing with Sweden? Flibirigit (talk) 02:58, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
I will do Finland and Ukraine. Would you mind doing to last Russian? Flibirigit (talk) 07:47, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
No I don't mind. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 14:35, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
So it looks like the page on the last Russian already exists (Igor Dmitriev (ice hockey)) but it is only sourced to one citation so I will try expanding it. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:45, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for finding that, and expanding it would be great too. There are probably a few undersourced stub article on this list we should look into after the red links are done. Flibirigit (talk) 01:53, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Ukraine is finished. Flibirigit (talk) 16:20, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
Grunander is done! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:21, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Excellent. Please check the citations at Joe Kryczka article for mention of Dahlberg in the 1972 Summit Series. I have the remaining five on my list full researched. It's just a matter of writing now. Flibirigit (talk) 02:43, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, that will be really helpful! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:50, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Dobida is done. Flibirigit (talk) 20:02, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
Ove Dahlberg is done and I nominated it for DYK. I found his career very interesting and it was a pleasure to research. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:57, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Excellent, you should be done Italy this weekend. I have the other four researched, and should be done writing by next weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 01:23, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Finland is finished. Unfortunately I could not open any of the links on the Suomi version of the article. If you can, please add citations. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:54, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I updated some of the urls through the Wayback Machine [3] but they wouldn't be of use to you. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:13, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I guess we can add Italian to the list of langauges I will never speak but finally Enrico Calcaterra‎ is done. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:07, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
I dunno about you, but I speak Italian all the time when talking about food! I will done the other three by next week, and join you on Checklist 2. Flibirigit (talk) 02:21, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Are you able to find this in the Wayback machine? Thanks. 05:01, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes [4]. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 05:04, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
! Arigato ! 05:13, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Hungary is done. I'm close to finishing Japan and Bulgaria. Flibirigit (talk) 20:28, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Japan is finished. I should be done Bulgaria soon. Flibirigit (talk) 19:50, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
It's all done. Thanks for the teamwork! Flibirigit (talk) 23:31, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Flibirigit

Checklist 2

We should make a checklist of the stubs to expand for the IIHF Hall of Fame. We should also include, uncited articles, and major maintenance tags. Flibirigit (talk) 01:06, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

I added the first two the need work. Please add more, and put a {{done}} check mark in front of the name when you're finished. Flibirigit (talk) 01:20, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I added the Canadians... this will keep us busy for a while. Flibirigit (talk) 01:33, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Wow, you added a lot. Did you make it through the whole list? Flibirigit (talk) 01:45, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I did not because I didn't want it to become too overwhelming. Looking now, I can probably remove a few articles that just need expansion but not a lot of references or major tags. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:50, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Maybe group them by the most urgent, and see how far we get? There's no deadline after all. Flibirigit (talk) 01:55, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
That's a good idea. I think I'll group them based on how poorly written/most work they require, how viewed the article will be (ie. how many links from other articles come here) etc. to decide which is most urgent. Likely expanding IIHF Hall of Fame is most important since all these articles link to it and many more. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:11, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
Regarding Yoshiaki Tsutsumi, according to his Japanese language article, it is the same person. This was also confirmed in a discussion at WikiProject Japan. Flibirigit (talk) 19:41, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Perfect, thank you for checking. That article needs a lot of work in my opinion. It seems to mostly focus on the criminal activities and doesn't even mention the IIHF. Not to mention it has limited ininline citations. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:45, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Maybe we could recruit help at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Japan#Yoshiaki Tsutsumi? Flibirigit (talk) 20:17, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
I will redo the IIHFHOF article as soon as I finish the Bulgarian. Flibirigit (talk) 07:25, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I am working on the IIHF Hall of Fame article itself. I should be done by Friday. Have you had time to work on this checklist? Flibirigit (talk) 23:34, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I have a little bit. I personally think Kompalla can be expanded more but it is in much better shape than when I started. I would also like to work on Bye-Dietz a bit more, specifically her NCAA career. I am participating in an edit-a-thon in a few weeks for Women In Red so I have been focusing on that a bit. On a side note, I think Bruce Dowbiggin is probably as good as it's gonna get.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:39, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I agree, we probably won't find much more without significant effort. I will let you start the main space article. Flibirigit (talk) 00:13, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't generally move things from my sandbox so I probably did that wrong. I'll find an admin to help me delete the history that shouldn't be there. Anyways, its up at Bruce Dowbiggin. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:22, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I have finally completed the rewrite for the IIHF HOF. I am beginning the process of separating the Torriani recipients from the HOF inductees, as they are not mutually inclusive. Flibirigit (talk) 18:24, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
How do you feel about making a "Checklist 3" for recipients of the Paul Loicq Award? It's the other pominent IIHF honor which is incomplete. I'm not sure if every recipient passes WP:GNG, but it could be worthwhile to explore. Flibirigit (talk) 19:16, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
Sure, I can do it in a little while. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 19:18, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
No rush, I won't be online much in the next two weeks. Flibirigit (talk) 21:03, 23 March 2019 (UTC)
I should be back online a bit more regularly as of tomorrow. How have you been? Flibirigit (talk) 20:53, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Welcome back, I hope you enjoyed your time away. Haven't worked much on this list as I've been focusing more on the Elmer Ferguson Memorial Award but I'm working on Monique Scheier-Schneider (other list) who might be notable. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:58, 10 April 2019 (UTC)
I am going to focus on the two award namesakes, Torriani and Loicq, and also finish my essay on Father Bauer. I figure those will keep me busy for some time. Flibirigit (talk) 05:34, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
I am making progress with research for Paul Loicq, and there are adequate sources available online and in the newspaperarchives. Flibirigit (talk) 22:00, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
Do you have any DYK hook suggestions for Paul Loicq? Something in addition to the first European in the HHOF would be nice. I want to nominate this by July 31 for his August 11 birthday. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 03:51, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I'll add my two cents shortly. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:16, 31 July 2019 (UTC)
The nomination at Template:Did you know nominations/Paul Loicq has five proposed hooks with a review in progress. Comment if you would like. Flibirigit (talk) 03:40, 1 August 2019 (UTC)
I am going to resume working on David Bauer (ice hockey) and Bibi Torriani. When you're back into hockey mode, let me know. Flibirigit (talk) 01:28, 16 August 2019 (UTC)
I am still working on David Bauer (ice hockey), but it won't be done in November. Maybe more likely next summer. Flibirigit (talk) 18:52, 2 November 2019 (UTC)
Der ni-sturm
  • I am almost finished Bibi Torriani. He played on a famous forward line known as Der ni-sturm (The ni-storm) alongside Hans Cattini and Ferdinand Cattini. Would you be interested in a fivefold expansion or a clean-up of the Cattini brothers? I plan on nominating Torriani for an October 1st DYK, for his birthday anniversary. There is potential for all three players to be included in the hook. Any thoughts? Flibirigit (talk) 20:30, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I can attempt a five-fold (it’ll all be in English :) ) Seems like a lot of information is missing. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:45, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
It will make more sense when I post the Torriani update tonight or tomorrow. I will also provide you with a translation from German sources. Flibirigit (talk) 20:54, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
The Bibi Torriani update is now posted. Flibirigit (talk) 02:26, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Way to go! Looks so much better now. I don't think I hit five-fold with Ferdinand Cattini but I did give him a healthy update. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:55, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, I updated the entries below. Flibirigit (talk) 12:45, 22 September 2019 (UTC)

Unclaimed Should get done relatively soon:

Not so important right now

Checklist 3

Last year I tried to find enough information on Kent Angus to write an article, but all I could find is the single announcement from the IIHF that he won the Paul Loicq Award. If you think he passes WP:GNG, go ahead with an article. Flibirigit (talk) 21:29, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

I haven't forgotten about these. I hope to look into some after finishing my current project. Flibirigit (talk) 14:17, 14 May 2019 (UTC)
I completed an article about our Luxembourgian leading lady. I see that a one-sentence stub was just created yesterday for Patrick Francheterre. It should be expanded soon. Flibirigit (talk) 00:35, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Thank you! I was beginning that one too, what a coincidence. When I get off from work, I'll see if I can merge my content with yours. I think I'll attempt to expand the stub and work on the Canadian one next. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 00:42, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I will start working on expanding Patrick Francheterre tonight and tomorrow. Flibirigit (talk) 03:24, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I have located foreign language wiki articles for two more red links below. Flibirigit (talk) 04:08, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
I definitely have enough content for Francheterre, hopefully I can finish his article within a couple days. Are you still working on the Kent Angus article? Flibirigit (talk) 04:15, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: I was, but I agree with your assessment above. I despise creating stubs (although I know the value of them), and that is likely what Angus would turn out to be. I think Bo Tovland would be a better place to start. He absolutely passes NHOCKEY and GNG, without a doubt. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:19, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
No worries. Go ahead with Tovland. Flibirigit (talk) 04:22, 21 May 2019 (UTC)
Francheterre is done. Have you had time to work on Tovland? Flibirigit (talk) 21:39, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Another nice article! I've done pretty good work on Tovland if I do say so myself. I'm aiming for Monday at the latest to post. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:19, 30 May 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Made a decent Start article for Tovland. Will be able to improve soon.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:20, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Re: Tovland, he is not inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame. Recipients of the Loicq Award are not inducted into the hall itself as full members. Flibirigit (talk) 01:39, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Oops, you're right. Removed. It wasn't in the infobox but I missed it in the lede. Thanks! HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 01:48, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I manually added the Svenska interwiki link. Sometimes a bot adds it automatically, but didn't do it here. Flibirigit (talk) 13:45, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

The next Loicq Award recipient I will tackle will be Wolf-Dieter Montag. I am trying to finish up other projects first though. It might be a couple weeks before I start his article. Flibirigit (talk) 02:55, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

No worries Flibirigit, real life is catching up with me too. I'll tackle Vsevolod Kukushkin, maybe. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:54, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
I have enough sources for an article on Roman Neumayer. I hope to get the two Germans written with a couple weeks. Flibirigit (talk) 08:46, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Glad you're making a lot of progress. Unfortunately, my computer has gone dead on me. It's nearly 10 years old so I was expecting it but I won't be creating new pages for at least a week. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:05, 11 June 2019 (UTC)
I have found enough to do articles for Kent Angus and Juraj Okoličány. I hope to finish a couple of them this weekend. Flibirigit (talk) 23:14, 13 June 2019 (UTC)
I searched ad nauseum for information on Hrbacek in German, and ended up just writing a stub article. I should have a start article for Angus posted soon. Flibirigit (talk) 17:06, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Sorry for being so behind. With my computer out of commission I find it difficult to do much Wiki work. I will attempt to write about Vsevolod Kukushkin as I should be getting a new laptop by next week. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:16, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
I have found a bit of information on Isao Kataoka. I'm going to try again searching in Japanese if I can. Do you mind working on the winners from Russia? After the red links are done, we can touch up the existing articles. Flibirigit (talk) 19:34, 14 June 2019 (UTC)
Just four more red links to go! I have the German and Slovakian recipients thoroughly researched, and it's just a matter of writing them now. Do you want to work on the two Russians when you're back online? Flibirigit (talk) 05:36, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: You're soooo speedy! I should have my new laptop by Saturday of this week so that sounds plausible. I borrowed a family members laptop for the time being but I don't like it very much. I will likely do the bare minimum in terms of editing until my new one arrives. Hope to knock out one of the Russian articles before Canada Day. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:23, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Could you have a quick glance at Template:Did you know nominations/Kent Angus for alternative hook suggestions? My creative side is not with me this morning. Flibirigit (talk) 14:33, 20 June 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the above. Angus is in the holding area for his July 31 birthday. Isao Kataoka is holding for his July 12 birthday. Flibirigit (talk) 22:02, 26 June 2019 (UTC)
The German doctor is done. Have a look, it seems he was an accomplished man. Flibirigit (talk) 04:41, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Feel free to add hook suggestions to Template:Did you know nominations/Wolf-Dieter Montag if something interests you. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:04, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Okoličány is now finished. Are you still working on Kukushkin? Flibirigit (talk) 01:09, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Yuri Korolev (ice hockey) is now finished. I came across several articles and put them together. I hope I didn't duplicate any work you had in progress. Are you still working on Vsevolod Kukushkin? I have found out he's a journalist, and sat on the IIHF Hall of Fame selection committee. Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 20:06, 6 August 2019 (UTC)
Yes I am still working on it. Sorry being super late to the party on this one. I am usually better at sticking to tasks :/. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 03:32, 11 August 2019 (UTC)
I finished an article for Vsevolod Kukushkin. Sorry, I was anxious to complete the list and figured you have been busy. If you found any more information, please add it. Flibirigit (talk) 20:35, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
@Flibirigit: Funnily enough, I was actively working on it. Don’t worry, I’m glad you made it. I’m sorry for not prioritizing this. If I’m being honest, I think I consistently lose motivation to write about hockey during the off-season. This happened last year too. It’s not fair to do that to you. And yes I know this is a volunteer project but it’s also a collaborative project. And I haven’t done the best at that aspect regarding these BLPs. I apologize. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:25, 15 August 2019 (UTC)
No worries, I have had more time than expected this month. Flibirigit (talk) 01:26, 16 August 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Safiya Wazir

On 28 November 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Safiya Wazir, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that American politician Safiya Wazir came to Uzbekistan as a refugee from Afghanistan? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Safiya Wazir. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Safiya Wazir), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I've seen your work here, and it is relentless in the pursuit of a better encyclopedia. Thank you. Admin work is often unrecognised and unrewarded. Hopefully this is a small counter to that. Best, The Mirror Cracked (talk) 06:30, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
You know The Mirror Cracked, everyone says Admin work is often unrecognised and unrewarded (and maybe that will be true 5+ years from now) but I have been pleasantly surprised by the supportiveness I have received from fellow editors. So thank you as well  . HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 06:32, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
