WikiProject Good Articles Recruitment Centre

Hello! Now, some of you might be wondering why there is a Good article icon with a bunch of stars around (to the right). The answer? WikiProject Good articles will be launching a Recruitment Centre very soon! The centre will allow all users to be taught how to review Good article nominations by experts just like you! However, in order for the Recruitment Centre to open in the first place, we need some volunteers:
  • Recruiters: The main task of a recruiter is to teach users that have never reviewed a Good article nomination how to review one. To become a recruiter, all you have to do is meet this criteria. If we don't get at least 5-10 recruiters to start off with, the Recruitment Centre will not open. If interested, make sure you meet the criteria, read the process and add your name to the list of recruiters. (One of the great things about being a recruiter is that there is no set requirement of what must be taught and when. Instead, all the content found in the process section is a guideline of the main points that should be addressed during a recruitment session...you can also take an entire different approach if you wish!) If you think you will not have the time to recruit any users at this time but are still interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still add your name to the list of recruiters but just fill in the "Status" parameter with "Not Available".
  • Co-Director: The current Director for the centre is me (Dom497). Another user that would be willing to help with some of the tasks would be helpful. Tasks include making sure recruiters are doing what they should be (teaching!), making sure all recruitments are archived correctly, updating pages as needed, answering any questions, and distributing the feedback form. If interested, please contact me (Dom497).
  • Nominators, please read this: If you are not interested in becoming a recruiter, you can still help. In some cases a nominator may have an issue with an "inexperienced" editor (the recruitee) reviewing one of their nominations. To minimize the chances of this happening, if you are fine with a recruitee reviewing one of your nominations under the supervision of the recruiter, please add your name to the list at the bottom of this page. By adding your name to this list, chances are that your nomination will be reviewed more quickly as the recruitee will be asked to choose a nomination from the list of nominators that are OK with them reviewing the article.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to seeing this program bring new reviewers to the Good article community and all the positive things it will bring along.

A message will be sent out to all recruiters regarding the date when the Recruitment Centre will open when it is determined. The message will also contain some further details to clarify things that may be a bit confusing.--Dom497 (talk)

Editing help

sorry i dont even know how to write messages here. can u please help me to edit my page?Mohammed 20:03, 4 June 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamoodik (talkcontribs)

Of course. If you want to start a new section on a talk page, click on the "New Section" tab at the top. Also once you have made a comment if you add ~~~~ to the end of it it will sign the post. What exactly are you trying to do on your user-page?--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 20:07, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

thanks a lot for your reply. here is a link of my page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Hamoodik as u see on the top of the page is written "user hamoodik". but in normal pages any user's name is not seen. if u open any articles it is not seen who created it. how can I remove it? thanks a lotMohammed 20:17, 4 June 2013 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamoodik (talkcontribs)

Basically, the starting word (Word:Page) tells the reader what namespace the page is in. It says User: at the top of yours to show it is a user page for a wikipedian, if you look, it also says it at the top of mine.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 20:21, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

DYK for The Blasphemers' Banquet

Hi Gilderien. Sorry about that but I have realised that the hook for The Blasphemers' Banquet currently on prep 4 could benefit from adding a wikilink to the word "controversy" to point to the actual controversy article. Could you therefore modify the word "controversy" by adding the wikilink: [[The Satanic Verses controversy|controversy]]? Thank you and sorry for the trouble. No problem, I've added the link :-) --Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 07:19, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

How is this review going? Hawkeye7 (talk) 07:51, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I've had exams this week. I have one more next week but I think I should have enough time this afternoon to have a look at it.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 15:13, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
I am in no hurry, and it would be more convenient for me if this dragged on a bit, so take your time. I was just checking that it had not been forgotten.   Hawkeye7 (talk) 20:41, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Template:Did you know nominations/R. Nataraja Mudaliar

The reviewer passed the nom with ALT2, but it looks like the article is ready for the main page display with the original hook. Vensatry (Ping me) 07:55, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

I have swapped the hook.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 15:13, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Edit conflict

I already promoted Template:Did you know nominations/A Christmas Story, The Musical. Gatoclass (talk) 16:37, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Ah, ok, I shall remove it from the set I am building. Thanks for notifying me.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 16:40, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
No problem :) Gatoclass (talk) 16:44, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Any reason why you didn't use one of the topical Tony Award hooks in your new set? Gatoclass (talk) 17:00, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

*facepalm* I removed the one I had added when you said you have promoted it, but forgot to replace it. I'll do that when the next set is approved so I can transfer a hook to the empty queue.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 17:08, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I promoted a couple of updates in case you'd like some room to build more sets BTW. Gatoclass (talk) 17:24, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Oh ok thanks sounds good.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 17:47, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Why did you ignore the date request when building Template:Did you know/Preparation area 2?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:36, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Do you know that Prep 2 is the hook that will be on the main page when the 67th Tony Awards actually air. Are you not going to put any of the date request hooks in this Prep area?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 17:40, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict × 3) Woah, cool it. If you read the above conversation, you would see it was because I put one in, but Gatoclass had already decided to use it in another set, but not promoted the hook nom page, so I removed it and forgot to replace it. I would have already swapped lead hooks if I hadn't been edit-conflicted three times. I'm now building prep 3.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 17:47, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

DYK prep areas

Gilderien, I wanted to give you a heads up about putting together DYK prep areas. These are covered in the various DYK rules pages, but aren't always easy to find.

  1. No more than half of the entries should be bios (this means a maximum of three in a seven-slot prep area), and two bios should not be adjacent.
  2. With the exception of the US, which is subject to the same "no more than half" rule, generally only have one hook per country per prep set. (Sometimes the UK has two, but rarely.)
  3. Generally, similar hooks should not appear sequentially, so bios should not be adjacent, US hooks should also not be sequential, etc.

The reason I mention this is that the current Prep 2 has four bios in a row, and three of them are Singapore-related, also in a row. We just had a discussion on the recent influx of Singaporean hooks on the DYK talk page (WT:DYK#Singapore; frequent DYKs lah), so putting even two in a single set is excessive.

Thanks! BlueMoonset (talk) 19:27, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Ok, thank you very much. I was aware of the rules but was rather stuck with finding any approved hooks so I wasn't really paying as much attention to selection topic as I should have. Obviously, having three singapore hooks consecutively is inacceptable, so thanks for bringing this to my attention, I shall do some shuffling with the prep sets.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 19:34, 8 June 2013 (UTC)

Prep 3

You just filled Template:Did you know/Preparation area 3‎ without including one of the date request hooks after saying you didn't need to be reminded. What gives?--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 20:30, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
I know. I was just filling the prep areas with hooks so they could be shuffled around if need be. As I said, they shall be included before it is promoted, I got called away before I could fill up another prep set but I can do that now.--Gilderien Chat|List of good deeds 20:45, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
