April 2023

There used to be a warning here from me, but I'm removing it because it was a mistake from my end. Sorry! Actualcpscm (talk) 13:06, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

The introduction needs to summarize the body of the article. Can you clarify what you are disputing please User:Actualcpscm? FloridaArmy (talk) 12:54, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
When such a strong claim is made in the lead, it requires sourcing there too. Actualcpscm (talk) 12:56, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
"The colored people never can rise from their menial condition in our country; they ought not to be permitted to rise here. They are an inferior race of beings, and never can or ought to be recognized as the equals of the whites. Africa is the place for them." What policy says "strong claims" in the lead need to be cited? Did you even read the entry where he's described in detail as a leading opponent of education for African Americans because he thinks they are inferior and should be sent "back" to Africa? The lead improperly omits what he is most known for. Perhaps you'd like to write an appropriate summary User:Actualcpscm? FloridaArmy (talk) 13:01, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I just checked the article again and your original edit was alright. I had a bit too many tabs open, and I must have confused it with another article. Apologies for that, feel free to re-implement. I'll take off the warning too, because totally unfair here. My bad, sorry again. Happy editing! Actualcpscm (talk) 13:05, 3 April 2023 (UTC)
No problem. Thank you for looking out for entries and being wary of strong claims added. Take care and have fun User:Actualcpscm. FloridaArmy (talk) 13:07, 3 April 2023 (UTC)

Odd question for you

I've noticed that in some of your drafts you will add "X should link here", however sometimes "X" is already linking somewhere else. Now, I'm not accusing you of anything, but do you actually check if an article already exists for something you want to have link to your draft when it goes to mainspace? ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:56, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

Disambiguation pages and hatnotes can be used to link to pages from existing entries and redirects. FloridaArmy (talk) 14:11, 4 April 2023 (UTC)
Ah ok, so when you add that you aren't always asking for a redirect to be created under that title or for the redirect to be changed to go to the draft. Thanks for the clarification! ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:13, 4 April 2023 (UTC)

@Hiding I don't think it would be an issue because you are not stepping on another's admin's decision given it is G13 (not like G11, etc.) but consider this a refund request. FloridiaArmy and I can handle to the rest, I think. S0091 (talk) 14:39, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
@S0091 I put the article at Frederick A. Graf and created another redirect at Frederick Graf. Managing drafts

Hi FloridaArmy, you may find this list of active drafts you have created helpful (over 1,000!), which can also export. I believe the date is the date created. At any time, you can run your own query here. I have noticed you complain about drafts being deleted but all it takes is an edit by a human to restart the G13 clock. Any edit will do, even a dummy edit. S0091 (talk) 17:57, 5 April 2023 (UTC)

Thanks very much User:S0091 that's very helpful! It's almost as if you read my mind. Thanks again. FloridaArmy (talk) 16:58, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
Oh good! Have you considered putting a pause on creating new drafts and concentrating on what you have already started? I am also wondering if we can't make a table out the query and put it new user subpage in your user space. It would be nice to have extra columns for notes, etc. I have never done that but if you are interested, I can play around.
On a separate note, I notice you do not use Visual Editor (it seems anyway) but I encourage you do so as it does make many things easier, such as adding sources. I use VE exclusively for citations and largely for most things. For example, generally Google Books and websites can be cited using the "Automatic" function. Just just paste in the link, click generate, then insert. I also find it handy even when I have do manual citations (Newspapers.com) because all the fields are available. Draft:Ann Wead Kimbrough - some help, please

A while ago you collaborated with me on this draft. It has just been declined. I chose to submit for review because I was unsure of its notability. I was relying on criterion 6 of WP:ACADEME.

I am hoping you might have a look at referencing and see if you can improve it?

I know you are limited on number of concurrent submissions, so please let me know on my talk page when you think it might be an "acceptance Candidate" and I'll submit it again. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 22:57, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Eagle-Herald

Hello, FloridaArmy. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Eagle-Herald".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! Jay 💬 16:08, 17 April 2023 (UTC)

Drafts

Hello, FloridaArmy,

I greatly appreciate all of the content creation work you do here on the project, you add a lot of articles to the encyclopedia that are valuable. But last October, BD2412 using AWB, edited all, or most, of your drafts resulting in 420 drafts that would have all expired during the hour of 18:00-19:00 UTC tomorrow. That's a lot of drafts for a few editors to review over a short period of time! I went to BD2412's talk page to discuss this situation and it seems to have resulted in these drafts being mass edited again and their deletion delayed for ANOTHER 6 months. So, unless circumstances change, we'll be dealing with this mass expiration all over again on April 12, 2024.

This is just a plea, I hope that over the next six months, a lot of these drafts can be edited and moved into the main space of the project. Or you could at least make some edits to them so they aren't all hitting their six month deadline on the same hour of the same day. I know those taking care of CSD G13s could be seen as on the opposite side as those editors who create drafts but I think we both want the same thing which is more quality content in the main space. Thanks again an good luck with all of these drafts! Liz Read! Talk! 02:44, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Just my two cents here, but the six month rule is rather silly as a blanket rule. Some large groups of topics are obviously inherently notable but require work before they are suitable for mainspace, and it should be possible for those to remain in draft for a substantially longer period of time while they are worked through. BD2412 T 03:16, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
Hi User:Liz. Thank you for your kind words. I have submitted as many as I am allowed. You or any other editor are free to review my AfC submissions or move notable draft subjects to mainspace. I do what I can. Take care. FloridaArmy (talk) 14:10, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Robert Crowther (author) moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Robert Crowther (author), is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. User:UtherSRG the cites include more than a dozen reviews from Kirkus Reviews and Publishers Weekly. Your assertion that there isn't independent sourcing is wildly false and you've moved an entry on an extraordinarily notable author to draftspace by mistake. Please fix your errors. FloridaArmy (talk) 13:18, 21 April 2023 (UTC)
Check yourself and this draft, mate. The bio info is wholly unreferenced because the two references you used are not independent. With no valid references, the info can't be verified. With no verification, there's no way to credibly accept notability. All you need are some good sources. I know you know better than this. - UtherSRG (talk) 15:53, 21 April 2023 (UTC)

Access to newspaper archives

Hi FloridaArmy, I have seen you comment here and there about "those that have access to newspapers sources" or "newspaper archives" should be able to find sources (ex. this comment). At one time you did have request access to Newspapers.com but now it is now automatic. Letting you know in case you were not aware because such arguments may not be convincing to reviewers.
