Wikidata weekly summary #445

Week 1 / Evaluation Article / LaurenZhou0509

Hi guys! This is Lauren Zhou. I am happy to meet you guys here in Wikipedia. Before came to NYC, I have spent several years in Chicago. I finished my undergraduate in UIUC. It is a beautiful place with interesting people. NYC is different from Chicago; it is busier but I enjoy the new environment. This is my second semester in NYU and hopefully we will spend a good time together! I started to use Wiki a long time ago but this is the first time I become an editor. The role changing makes me feel exited. Enjoy!--LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 21:45, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

LaurenZhou0509, You have past the deadline to begin this process by nearly two months, but I will still review. Current. FULBERT (talk) 22:54, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT: I am so sorry for Week 1 showing here. I started the extra credit before the deadline of the middle of the term, but I do not know why I cannot find the original page of week1 to week8. Thank you so much for grading it. LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 19:16, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

LaurenZhou0509, OK; current on all parts of the assignment. FULBERT (talk) 00:59, 9 December 2020 (UTC)

Week 2 / Evaluation Article / LaurenZhou0509

1. I learned how to evaluate an article through this week's task. The guidelines and questions in every section make it easier for me to understand what is a good article and what an article should focus on when published. I choose "Case Closed" as my article since I am big fan to this series and I hope to evaluate something I am interested in. 2. The original link is here "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_Closed" 3. My evaluation page is here "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:LaurenZhou0509/Evaluate_an_Article"--LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 21:47, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

LaurenZhou0509, Please assign yourself this article in the Wiki Edu Dashboard and then ping me here. I will then take a look at it and reply. Please provide the diff per WP:DIFF to your change and then ping me here. I will then take a look at it and reply. FULBERT (talk) 22:59, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT: I assign this article. The difference page is required started Week 2? I provided all difference page started Week 3. Week 2's work is shown to do the evaluation page from what I saw on timeline. Thank you so much!LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 19:22, 8 December 2020 (UTC)

New Page Patrol December Newsletter

Hello FULBERT,

Year in review

It has been a productive year for New Page Patrol as we've roughly cut the size of the New Page Patrol queue in half this year. We have been fortunate to have a lot of great work done by Rosguill who was the reviewer of the most pages and redirects this past year. Thanks and credit go to JTtheOG and Onel5969 who join Rosguill in repeating in the top 10 from last year. Thanks to John B123, Hughesdarren, and Mccapra who all got the NPR permission this year and joined the top 10. Also new to the top ten is DannyS712 bot III, programmed by DannyS712 which has helped to dramatically reduce the number of redirects that have needed human patrolling by patrolling certain types of redirects (e.g. for differences in accents) and by also patrolling editors who are on on the redirect whitelist.

Reviewer of the Year

John B123 has been named reviewer of the year for 2020. John has held the permission for just over 6 months and in that time has helped cut into the queue by reviewing more than 18,000 articles. His talk page shows his efforts to communicate with users, upholding NPP's goal of nurturing new users and quality over quantity.

NPP Technical Achievement Award

As a special recognition and thank you DannyS712 has been awarded the first NPP Technical Achievement Award. His work programming the bot has helped us patrol redirects tremendously - more than 60,000 redirects this past year. This has been a large contribution to New Page Patrol and definitely is worthy of recognition.

Week 3/ Copyedit to the Article / LaurenZhou0509

This week I edited the article "Case Closed: The Fourteenth Target". I added the "Staff" section to the article since staff is a key factor to an introduction page of a film. I also added the lyrics to the theme song. As a new editor, I feel it is important to have a critical view of the article. To find out what is missing and what should be improved. Here is the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Case_Closed:_The_Fourteenth_Target Here is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Case_Closed:_The_Fourteenth_Target&diff=prev&oldid=983069897--LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 21:48, 29 November 2020 (UTC)

@FULBERT:Thank you so much!!! And could you see my week 4 to week 11's work? Since I cannot see them again. But I finished them before the Sunday you mentioned. Thank you again for your reply! --LaurenZhou0509 (talk) 01:21, 11 December 2020 (UTC)
