Adminship edit

I have just found a page, incorrectly placed and incorrectly formatted, indicating your application for adminship in wikipedia. Please be advised that you have, to date, only a small fraction of the experience, both in terms of time here and in articles created, that you need to stand any chance of this succeeding. If you seriously want to apply then go to WP:RfA and follow the instructions, but I seriously suggest that you spend six months accumulating around 3,000 edits before you pursue this intention.--Anthony.bradbury 17:59, 6 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nonsense of Seth Bok edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Seth Bok, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Seth Bok provides no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Seth Bok, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. --Android Mouse Bot 2 22:16, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of 1st snoogen church of jesus christ edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on 1st snoogen church of jesus christ, by Twinkler4, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because 1st snoogen church of jesus christ seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting 1st snoogen church of jesus christ, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate 1st snoogen church of jesus christ itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 00:33, 11 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of common World War II infantry weapons edit

What type of link was it you were having problems with? It's not usual practice to lock articles in a "finished" state, but rather only temporarily, if there's a serious editing dispute, or a large amount of vandalism. I'd suggest just keeping an eye on the problem for now, or perhaps mentioning it over at WP:MILHIST if it starts to become an issue over a larger number of articles. But do let me know if things deteriorate. Alai 01:18, 18 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

WWII Infantry Weapons edit

Hey, thanks for the hi. IMO I think private purchase should only be included if they're officer's side arms. Many armies of the time made officers purchase their own side arm or gave them that option - such as Germany - which is why the issue weapon for a lot of the newer officer cadre was the Walther P38 you still saw lots of Lugar P08's (and don't let anyone kid you, the Lugar was still an issue weapon in the 1st half of the war. Remember the war started in 1939 - not in 1941 when the US got involved) and Walther PP's and PPk's. The latter 2 were particularly popular with tank crews because of their small size.

I guess the issue is what do you want the page to be. Is it a list of all Infantry Weapons of WWII - which is what some of the editors seem to want - or just the 'common' ones and if the latter, how do you define common?--Lepeu1999 18:43, 25 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

I define common as any firearm that the normal soilder could get ahold of. for example the FG42 wouldnt be on thier becuase it was only issued to paratroopers, and a normal wehcamat soilder could not get one.(Esskater11 14:55, 27 June 2007 (UTC))Reply

RE:Page protection edit

What exactly seems to be the problem on that page? -- Миборовский 01:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

I hope im doing this right but anyway, The problem is that there are allot of I.P's that visit the page and are constantly adding weapons to the German and American and Britsh sections. Its getting to be a lil annoying to always having to revert it. Most loged in users i dont have a problom with.(ForeverDEAD 01:12, 10 September 2007 (UTC))Reply

I don't think it would be appropriate to permanently semi-protect the page. It's not vandalism, and since it's a content dispute over which weapons were common and which were not, you should resolve the dispute by citing sources. (eg. only 5,000 were produced compared to 5,000,000 of a common weapon; etc) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Miborovsky (talkcontribs) 02:02, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
I had a discusion with another person on the talk page about some of the weapons and why some were common and some were not, we reached a compromise from pointing out facts and such which we both knew.(ForeverDEAD 02:08, 10 September 2007 (UTC))Reply
Well then there is no need to prevent others from editing the page, is there? Semi-protection isn't used to silence any side of any dispute. -- Миборовский 02:22, 10 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
i see your point what i would really need was protection on some of the sections as ther complete already and have everything common listed. Thanks for replying back(ForeverDEAD 19:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC))Reply

He's without a doubt a sock of Jetwave Dave. Image source problem with Image:Gulf War M1 Abrams.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Gulf War M1 Abrams.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 20:07, 7 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Notice to all members of WikiProject Maryland edit

There are a few things going on right now in WikiProject Maryland that I thought all members should know about, especially the first one.

  • Not too long ago, Marylandstater raised the question of exactly how many members of the project are still active. For this reason, I'm asking everyone who is still active, and wants to remain in the project, to put an asterisk (*) after their username on the project's participants list. You have until the end of November 17, 2007 to do so, sometime after that, all the names that do not have an asterisk will be removed. This is just to clean up the ever expanding list. If you've been gone and come back to find that you've been removed from the list, don't take it personally, just re-add yourself! I won't feel bad at all if no one gets removed, in fact, it would be nice if all 30 members still consider themselves active. Also, this won't affect the two subprojects, but speaking of the subprojects...
  • As of sometime next week WikiProject Baltimore City College will be no more. Myself, Golem88991, and John Carter have decided to make it into a task force of WikiProject Maryland. If you have any objections, concerns, or comments, please post them in the talk page topic concerning this.

Now for the exiting news:

  • I'm pleased to announce the creation of the Baltimore Task Force! Those interested in contributing to Wikipedia's numerous articles related to Maryland's largest city, now have a place to collaborate.
  • I'd also like to take this time to propose a project newsletter. Any comments should be directed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Maryland#Newsletter.

A couple last things:

  • The portal is in desperate need of maintenance, anyone who's interested, go check it out.
  • It's probably a good idea to add the project page (and thus the project talk page) to your watchlist. That way, you can easily see when new comments are posted.

I hope you read through all that ;). Thanks to all members for your contributions to the project's articles so far, let's keep up the good work!
Sincerely, -Jeff (talk) 05:58, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:Stackleeadams, John Bataller, and WP:BITE edit

Hi, Just a quick note on your recent speedy deletion tagging of a page created by a new editor seconds before, with the only content being "Under Construction". Whilst, techically, this is indeed a WP:CSD A1, I hope you won't be offended if I point you to some advice on Wikipedia:New pages patrol: "Throughout the entire process of NP patrol, it is important to remember not to bite the newbies ... It is advisable to patrol new pages from the bottom of the first page of the log. This should give the creating editor enough time to improve a new page before a patroller attends to it...".

On its own, that would not be worth mentioning, but I was rather disturbed by your posting a level 3 vandalism warning to User talk:Stackleeadams (diff), a terse notice that the user "will be blocked", with the only edits of the user in question being twice attempting to create the page noted above. Jumping straight to a level three template with none of the lower warnings, and more importantly, with no evidence of any malicious intent on the users part whatsoever, is showing precious little Good Faith on your part, and certainly violating the general principles of Don't Bite the Newcomers.

Anyway, something to think about. Hope you're not offended, and thanks for your new page patrolling. -- simxp (talk) 00:56, 12 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi! edit

Esskater11, I really do want to be adopted. I'll accept your offer. Truth is, I need someone to help me on the Wikipedia ropes (since I make mistakes) and jazz up my page. Thanks! Pokemon Buffy Titan 12:23, 16 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Userboxes edit

You've already made a page for your userbox (User:Esskater11/AK47), so all you have to do is put {{User:Esskater11/AK47}} on your user page. Hope that helps. Hayden120 (talk) 01:15, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

List of firearms -- in use? edit

Are you working on a big change to List of firearms? You put the "in use" tag on it on November 3rd. Looking at the tag as it's displayed, it asks other editors not to edit the article, and seems to be intended for short term use, like a few hours. If you reply here I'll check back and see your response. Thanks. — Mudwater 03:26, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, I've taken it off. — Mudwater 03:38, 18 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unencyclopedic sub-page edit

Hi,

I deleted this page. It's a good example of "pages that haven't got a hope of being kept if listed for deletion".

Please don't recreate pages like this. Wikipedia subpages are for encyclopedia-related purposes only.

Thanks!

FT2 (Talk | email) 16:41, 19 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

While I agree with FT2's advice that user subpages should be used for Wikipedia-related purposes only, I'm not convinced, especially in light of the prior discussion, that this page wouldn't have a snowball's chance in hell of being kept at MfD. I have thus restored it and nominated it for discussion there. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 13:27, 20 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your photos edit

I LOVE your photos and your work. As a young person interested in the arts, history, and entertainment, your pages have brought much joy and enlightenment to me. Is there a way I can nominate you for administrator? Please get back to me. Belicia (talk) 05:42, 21 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problem! So what do you mean by you want to "adopt" someone? How old are you? Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Belicia (talk) 04:10, 22 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanksgiving edit

A little late but...

User:Alex Roggio/Thanksgiving 02:06, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Then can you adopt me? You seem cool. I know a lot about wikipedia from reading stuff but I haven't edited much. Show me the ropes and help me out will you? Belicia (talk) 07:20, 23 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Uploading Pictures edit

I've been getting puzzled over this. Uploading pics sure looks good...if I can just do it! How do I do it? Pokemon Buffy Titan (talk) 02:21, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello edit

Today I was looking up one of my old posts and I came across your post - I'm afraid that I missed it at the time (June) because Anynobody was just about to archive the discussion. Anyway, that discussion's being continued, more or less, on my Talk page at the moment, if you'd like to join in!--Major Bonkers (talk) 21:54, 25 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I put your name as an "adopter" on my page. Now plz put mine on yours. Belicia (talk) 18:52, 29 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Happy edit

Cool! I finally uploaded a picture. The only problem is, how do I attach it to an article? Pokemon Buffy Titan (talk) 01:20, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply
