Furthermore, I deleted several unsourced and clearly biased comments which have since been rewritten. Could you point to what you mean? | Also, here you have readded your statement that the ISC claims the school teaches Greek when it does not; this is incorrect: Although it is not an timetabled subject, Mr. Whiteman nevertheless teaches it after school to people who are going on to study Classics. Bear in mind that though I cannot add that fact to the article, since I have no verifiable source for it, that does not mean that it is acceptable for an incorrect (and equally unsourced) statement (i.e. "the school does not teach Greek") to remain in the article. I have a question regarding Linux: Nobody gets paid to write code for the GNU and Linux, how practical is that? i mean nobody can stay with Linux to earn. Even Linus Torvald gets paid to maintain the kernel therefore that keeps his interest alive. I read that in his latest interview posted at Slashdot. I only want to clarify that when there is no return for doing something then what are the implications in terms of its future? I figured this when i myself used Linux and found that it lacked the consistency that Windows provides in every department of operating system especially GUI, and i thought that because there is no incentive for writing GUI therefore Linux has no future or it will take very long for it to evolve as compared to Windows. He thinks it is safer than UAC because it has a password prompt before it "unlocks" the computer. With UAC being the main reason Vista is more secure than the older OS versions, CPULOCK can bring Vista type of security to older OS versions. I was about to delete it myself. The problem is that Consolas doesn't have any box-drawing characters defined (at least according to other websites), so Internet Explorer is substituting from other fonts. The result is that Consolas is severely limited in its monospace usefulness. It would be helpful if the Consolas page displayed the entire 713 glyph Consolas character set. Thanks again for deleting my editing. I will investigate more thoroughly before posting next time. Cape Verde Cape Verde was NOT previously uninhatited before being claimed by Portugul!!!!! These native people have a history of their own... A REVOLUTION!!!!! as well as their culture before it was disrupted by the Portuguese. How could you leave all this out? Personally, I have no problem with adding simple proofs since they allow users to see how topics work in conjunction, which is something a good encyclopedia should do. This is regarding your recent "regular maintenance" edit on the list of Linux distributions article. It would be extremely beneficial for editors if the article clearly mentioned that the list is for "notable" distributions only, i.e. distributions which have their own articles on Wikipedia. I spent a considerable amount of time expanding the list, only to find out later from your edit that distributions without their own articles are not qualified for inclusion in the list. It would save editors a lot of hassle if it is mentioned in the list's article itself that only the distributions included in Wikipedia can make the list. I appreciate the point, and apologise for the time you've spent; but as far as I can see, the list does say so, right at the beginning: "This page provides general information about notable Linux distributions". "Notable", in the context of Wikipedia, refers to Wikipedia:Notability, which sets out the criteria for "whether or not a topic merits its own article". So a Linux distribution is "notable" iff it has its own article. (As a matter of fact, in the case of Wikipedia lists, even if it doesn't explicitely say that it is a list of "notable" X, it almost always is. E.g. List of atheists (surnames A to B) is a list of people with Wikipedia articles who are also atheists; not a list of all atheists; it would quickly get ridiculously large and unmaintainable otherwise. As I said on the talk page, the consensus reached (of the philosophy) has little chance of lasting a full day; the fans of the OS are many and legion. And, to be fair to them, the decision that the philosophy was the primary meaning appeared to have been reached on the basis of incorrect policy: i.e. the basis that it is the 'original' meaning, which is irrelevent; there is only a primary meaning if that meaning is "much more used" than any other meaning. Although the language of this Wikipedia is English, it is supposed to reflect a worldwide view. How do you know that the OS is the most used meaning in Southern Africa? You don't, and you don't know for sure which meaning is more used. Also, in cases of cultural appropriation of a word, especially when the word is of religious or spiritual significance, bypassing the original meaning to appear to make the appropriation primary could be considered offensive to those who hold or respect the philosophy... As you correctly say, it is not clear that one meaning is universally "much more used" than any of the others; in which case Wikipedia policy is "use the diambiguation page", not "let Yworo pick a meaning". Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
